A local legend that’s worth a visit. Great food and drinks. Amazing garden to sit in on a fine day. It’s located in the old factory corner so have lunch and then browse the other local legends.

Excellent place to stop for lunch. Few GF options. Was a 30min wait when we went at a busy lunch time. Reserve a table if you're in the busy season and want to sit outside. Overall good lunchtime experience

Great place with a nice cottage garden, little Christmas Store, and delicious veggie options. I had the Garden Breakfast with two extra eggs. Super recommended.

Nice food and staff. Only minus was the amount of noise from passing cars on main road, a virtual constant steam of cars coming by to park for both Grape Escape and adjacent retail businesses (re which the adjacent market has very good fresh produce (meat and veg), and a keen local who decided that lunchtime was a great time to fire up the ride on mower. We still had a lovely meal. If you can parcel out the ambient noise it's very very good.

A classy place for lunch. Relaxed, leafy garden surroundings. Excellent food and chirpy, attentive wait staff. Very reasonable prices. Would be good to have a vegan friendly main option.

Incredible food and friendly staff. Grape Escape has long been a family favourite and that won't be changing any time soon! The garden area is so beautiful and the entire place just feels so peacefully relaxed. A definite gem!

Lovey spot for lunch with friend on a sunny day. The gardens are a lovely place to sit and enjoy both the sunshine and the great food this place has on offer. I really enjoyed the venison pie! Good size portions and friendly staff combined with a great local cider makes for a very pleasant time indeed! If you are cycling the great taste trail, this place is worth the short detour from the track for a bite to eat!

Gorgeous surroundings in the garden with plenty of great outdoor seating as well as indoor. The coffee was only so-so for me, my partner's was good. Our food was really delicious and the menu had goid variety. But we thought too expensive. Don't go if you're not prepared to pay much.

Delicious coffees and very yummy breakfast. The cafe is huge with wonderful gardens and heaps of tables. Garden nursery and a fruit and vege shop are located in the complex. Also kids playground so awesome for young ones

Delicious food with great service. The outside area is fantastic with a little playground next to it! Kids menus are reasonably priced.

Sweet little cafe with some amazing choice in food and drink. We had a lovely view from our table and the staff were friendly and approachable. Great special on today which I had. It's also blessed with a lovely selection of wines.

A bit alternative and vegetarian for me but most people seemed to enjoy their meals. It was 50/50 at our table for enjoyment.

Great food choices for lunch, served very quickly very pleasant waitress, great atmosphere, can eat indoors or outdoors,well worth a visit but please book, so you wont be dissapointed.

Love this place, the food (our daughter is coeliac so gf options available) the location, easy parking, fantastic for all ages. I can’t rate it high enough, we’re from Sydney and visit several times every time we’re in town. Don’t go changing! Oh and my fave the seafood chowder.

What a fantastic find just outside of Nelson! Stopped in after a visit to Brightwater vineyard. Recommended by the vineyard. I had the beet salad with goat cheese, my partner a croissant with ham. Milford wines to go with the meals.

I had a lovely day visiting this cafe with my girlfriend! We were served by a young lady named molly and she made one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in my entire life! She was really sweet and it was so nice to see bunnies- such a pleasant surprise :) the garden is lovely and it looked like the daffodils were just about ready to bloom so I’d love to come back another time when they are out! Thanks so much guys!

We had a lovely lunch. Infact it was our best meal eating out while on this holiday. We sat outside in their garden. Staff were friendly. Great selection on the menu even for the vegan member. All four of us loved our meals which were good sizes. Highly recommend.

This was an amazing cafe. The staff were amazing. It started to rain and they had an inside table all ready for us including our lovely wee granddaughter in the high chair which they carried in. Granddaughter loved it with smiles for everyone. Food was amazing. We will be back.

Entrance to grape escape restaurant and cafe needs to fix ramp as it's too slippery when wet my daughter slipped down it this morning. My daughter is 24 and now has a very sore ankle and knee. The meals were ok but my husband's coffee was served half cold.14/8/21Hi we have been back nice to see a sign out regarding the surface being wet but you still could improve the entrance and put another rail up on the left hanside service was good this time🙂

Our sub division chose the Grape Escape for our mid winter diner. There were 35 of us and we had the place to ourselves for the evening. On arrival we were served canapés, those with dietary restrictions were served a delicious selection specific to their needs. The sit down 2 course meal was amazing, ham, beef, roast vegetables, peas etc and desert. As each couple paid separately they had a seamless way of keeping track of additions such as drinks and coffees. The staff were so friendly, relaxed atmosphere and we had a wonderful evening. We highly recommend this place for lunch or private functions.

They have the best cheese scones in Nelson! Lovely place, friendly staff, excellent food and lovely menu. Very reasonable prices. Would thoroughly recommend as a great place to take visitors to Nelson and show off one of the great cafes Nelson has on offer.

Ok food, good portions. Don't know if I would hurry back. Toilets need cleaning they were disgusting even after I had waited to use the toilet a staff member came out!

Great service, good coffee and fantastic food

Normally call in on one of my bike rides for a coffee and a scone both of which are always great but today I went out for lunch with a friend we were handed a menu found a table and was waited on by a friendly staff member they took our order and suggested some garlic bread. They were very busy but everything arrived in a timely manner and another staff member checked to see if everything was ok it was. The food was delicious the staff was great and the cat was very loving. The price was good for what we had. Recommend to all.

Excellent quality food, gluten free available. I had a small reaction from a gluten free dessert however it could have been confused with a small discomfort from nuts and it tasted fabulous! Usually pretty good about cross contamination and very good for fresh tasty food in good portion sizes.

Fantastic Cafe! The food is of absolutely excellent caliber! The menu is fun and different but still delicious classics. The service is wonderful and the variety of cakes is amazing. Highly recommend this place for either a cup of tea or for a good feed! The gardens out the back have plenty of space and tables/chairs in the sunshine. Bathrooms available also and wheelchair parking and access.

Lovely food. Delicious coffee. A good, quick barista, who knows just how to make great coffee. They have vegetarian options, desserts, and main meals that are healthy yet delicious. Worth a look. There is a good craft shop next door, and fresh vegetables and ice cream shops behind it. Plenty of parking. Mind the busy intersection when coming or going.

Foods are amazing also a nice surrounding..

This place was a wonderful and unexpected pit stop. We bought a delicious pear almond tart to go (just to be able to use the bathroom). But the tart was so good, we came back round for another slice as well as the BEST cheese scone. If I could just carry along some of those scones hot and buttered, I'd make many new friends, easily.

Really loved the food here. Our dishes and unique drinks were all delicious. Even the children's plate was full of healthy options instead of the typical kid's meal fare. The gardens outside are beautiful and our daughter loved playing with the rabbits.

I haven't had a meal here for 6 months or so but find it a relaxing place especially outside with my feet on the grass. Their food is great, desserts fabulous, coffee variable from good to excellent. A great place for a small group to meet. Service staff can be a bit streesed

Pretty average café, the food is pretty good but the service is fairly lacking. Children's playground is available outside. Features outdoor seating and a large car park. I would highly recommend booking ahead, especially for larger groups.

Probably a very nice Café. The setting and garden is beautiful. We were there on Nelson Public Holiday and they charged 15% extra, which in general is okay. We ordered 4 drinks and 4 deserts which already cost $70. The first 2 coffee came quite quick but then we waited more than 25-35 minutes for the rest which only came one by one. Too long for some pre-cut cakea. By that time coffees were cold. I have to say that they apologized and brought two new coffees when we asked for them. They all just seemed a little mixed up.

Overall we enjoyed our experience at Grape Escape and are looking forward to returning again soon. More details: We (my husband and almost 2 yr old daughter) had the pleasure of visiting Grape escape today for brunch (Thursday 6/10/2016). It was an overcast day with a few showers but we still chose to sit outside on the balcony. The view did not disappoint with our table overlooking the beautiful gardens and a miniature windmill, it was such a picturesque spot. Pity about the weather though: My daughter would've loved to have seen the bunnies in the bunny hutch, or play in the fully-fenced playground. But that's something we look forward to doing next time we come. The Cottage has a warm feel to it with great ambience & artwork around the place. It is also located next to a gift shop, a place where you can taste test cheeses and a nursery. At The Grape Escape there is a great kids menu. My daughter had bacon & eggs on toast which also came with a sausage, piece of toast and a hash brown; which she scoffed down as if we hadn't fed her in months! My husband had delicious Pancakes served with maple syrup, fresh fruit and bacon. He said it was a perfect portion; very satisfying. The beverages we ordered was a mocha chino and a cappuccino: my Mocha was a little in the cold side, but was nicely presented. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Grape Escape and are looking forward to returning again soon.

I have been to Grape Escape numerous times and it is always great, great service and great food...unfortunately this time we were served on Sunday morning at 10am by a very sour looking woman who could not smile at all. We were her first customers of the day, she asked us if we were having breakfast when we told her we were having coffee and scones her reaction was "Oh" seemed very disinterested!! Great coffee and great scones and muffins but so disappointed with our service!!

This was a cute place to go, outdoor and indoor seating. We had trouble with the service though, and the kitchen seemed disorganized. It might be better if you order a sit-down meal, but both that and take away seem common. It was expensive.

Wonderful meals, great staff a fabulous place for a family get together.

This place is so relaxing, it's a informal setting, yet with a great menu. It is easy to take children, has great options for eating indoors or outdoors. In summer make sure you book! It is very popular and understandably, the food is consistently good. The only room for improvement is the children's sized picnic tables are a great option for kids, but a few more adult sized ones would be helpful.

Great cafe just out of Nelson. You can sit inside or outside in the lovely gardens. Menu is varied and the coffee is the best I have tasted. Really nice atmosphere. Dotted around the cafe there is an assortment of shops and a great fruit and vege place. Well worth a visit.

Its a wonderful place. Superb food. Always consistently great with fresh flavors and plenty of it. Outdoor seating under the apple trees is great in the summer. There is also cozy inside seating and covered and enclosed veranda for in between days. All in all very nice experience and prices are reasonable also.

Lovely setting. I had the smoked fish chowder. My friend had Nasi Goreng. We both enjoyed our meal. The waitress cleared our plates but never returned to ask if we wanted coffee.

Shame they do not have a loyalty card. Only cafe in the area that does not. Good coffee.

My friend and I went and had late lunch, I have the goat cheese and beetroot tart it was quite enjoyable my friend she had the fish of the day they got one thing wrong they put hollandaise sauce on it and they did replace it when they found out she could not eat sauce with eggs in it other than that the waitresses were very helpful and very friendly ,.

Caesar salad one of the best I have had in years,portion size perfect,out door dining area excellent.

Good but our order of iced coffee and hot tea with two slices was a bit long in coming out. I would have preferred stronger coffee and ice cream with cream and less ice.

Beautiful gardens and great food

We had one hot chocolate and a hazelnut latte with a tiramisu cake. The tiramisu cake was gorgeous! Not too heavy but light and creamy. Yum!

Love the vege and cheese shop there. Especially the new complex connings and how they now have oaklands milk products (very tasty).

Have never eaten anything here but the chicken focasia sandwich just cant order anything else! Heaps of outdoor and indoor seating. Afterwards have a look round the shops.

I got a GIANT bag of fresh fruit and vege for $17 and they were even giving every customer 12 free onions at the time! Eeeek
