Thanks team. Had a lovely meal. Food was excellent. I had the Lamb it literally melted in my mouth. Service was great very friendly staff. Highly recommend. .... and the sunset, was amazing :) 😀

There were three of us dining and we each had a “small plate” with a side dish. One diner ordered squid and one, scallops. They each thought the seafood was deliciously flavored and melted in the mouth. I had the Caesar Salad which I enjoyed. I appreciated the chef’s obliging me with a menu alteration. Pleasantly surprised by quality and cost. Good service.

Thank you very much for a great experience! Especially Salvin, taking your time out to treat customers to a very high level. Even with a 1 year old, it was very comfortable and everything well taken care of. Highly recommend for dinning in. Food was also great. The dinner is marvellous: beef is soft, oyster is fresh, cauliflower soup is yummy. The buffet breakfast is enjoyable too. Friendly staff and lovely customers services.

We had breakfast twice and cocktails once at Bistro Lago during our stay at the Hilton. The staff at the restaurant is very friendly, willing to go above and beyond when we had special needs for our kids. The breakfast is extensive, with warm food cooked to order - normal egg stuff you would expect - and cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, fruit, pastries and a lot more. They make good cocktails as well, with small plates that are quite delicious (try anything seafood).

I have eaten in this high class establishment many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and the service impeccable. I would recommend Bistro Largo to anyone who wants high class food in a great atmosphere combined with first class service. 5 Stars !

Had the high tea here today and it was so delicious! Views were lovely, and staff very helpful and informative of the hotel origins and menu. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend going and trying it!

Food is the winner here and the service is phenomenal. Had the yellow finn tuna and the scotch filet and both cooked to perfection. Will hit the wallet harder than usual but more than worth it. Will be back again. Well done to the team!

Brunch experience at Bistro Lago on Mother's Day 2021 was lacklustre. We ordered a la carte, in preference over the high tea that seemed to be their focus. We got the beef fillet and duck, which were nice and good but not particularly rave-worthy. Service was mediocre for a bistro associated with The Hilton. Our food only came after 40 minutes from ordering. Water at the table was not refilled although the waiters came round several times to ask about the food... We wondered if those table-side check-ins just a tick-the-box exercise. We were also asked to change tables after being seated, moving two tables across - apparently we were seated at a table set up for high tea (but we weren't asked for our dining choice before we were seated, and we saw other guests being served food off the a la carte menu at a table similarly set up for high tea). Overall, we won't return - it's just not worth it.

Food was delicious and our wait staff were so so lovely. Happy hour and the lovely dinner platters are great value. We just had a sad moment on our first night when we had ordered drinks and then a platter and we were then about to order more drinks as well as dinner when we were asked to leave because we had been at the table for 90min... I wish that they had asked us if we would like to have dinner or if we would like to order any thing else. Instead, we left and went elsewhere.

The hotel buffet breakfast was amazing (had juice, muesli, fruit, smoothie, pastries, crossiants, ciabatta, eggs, bacon, hash browns, crackers, cheese and more) and we were also able to order pancakes, omelettes, eggs benedict off the menu at no extra charge. Happy hour on drinks between 3pm to 6pm and the steak and side of chips was a good size portion. The service was good and staff made sure we were well looked after.

Exceed expectations. Went here last Sunday for birthday dinner. The food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. highly recommend.

My wife and I were staying at the Hilton (Bistro Lago is attached) and decided to eat here for dinner. We had salt & pepper squid and beef carpaccio for starters - both of which were delicious. For main my wife had the lamb rump and I had the scotch fillet. Again both were excellent. My wife says it was some of the best lamb she’s ever had. I like my steaks very rare and it was cooked exactly as ordered. Very happy. Other people have complained in reviews that it is expensive and sure the prices may be on the high side but the servings were very generous and food tasty. So generous we couldn’t fit in dessert! You get what you pay for!! We found the staff friendly and courteous. I highly recommend Bistro Lago.

Had such an amazing dining experience. We chose the Roast/Dessert platter deal as well as the wine deal. The food was delicious and service impeccable. Definitely will be back. Such a stunning venue as well.

Restaurant was beautifully presented, overlooking Lake Taupo. My food (Salmon) was average, lacked seasoning, but cooked and presented well. My wife had the duck, and was very pleased with her meal, however the duck skin needed to be rendered more. My sons meal (kids burger meal) was good for him, but when i tasted the burger it lacked flavour. Wait service was okay, but it was obvious the staff lacked training, which I guess is normal for a tourist hot spot to be fair. They were very friendly. I did try the desert, which was the highlight for me. Well presented and delicious. I was expecting a bit more of this restaurant, however we still had a positive dining experience.

We had a group booking at Bristo Lago for 21people, service was amazing a special thanks to Isabel for taking such great care of us! Beautiful view watching sunset from table. As we were a large group we had a set menu, both my partner and myself are gf vegan, so asked the team to create something off menu with that in mind. WOW! 3 incredible courses, vibrant colourful, packed with flavour- we were so impressed! Thank you for a wonderful evening and superb hospitality.

The front of house staff are ok at best. The food is amazing and the chef was very accommodating of dairy allergies. The entrees arrived before our first drink order and the other drinks were even slower to come out. Overall, there are much better places to eat in Taupo with better service

Enjoyed the 3 Course Salmon meal from $29.95 what a great after the long weekend and manic flight disruptions! Staff were very friendly and the salmon was fresh. The food was exceptionally delicious and the ambience of the space was just perfect. Ohhhhh and so were the views.

30 guests in our group. I think the kitchen was a little stretched as we had to wait too long for our first course. However after that the courses flowed acceptably. Wine was expensive. However all-in-all our special occasion looked past these minor faults. Food was interesting as some guests had never tasted scallops cooked like this but most approved.

Awesome food. I love this restaurant. Every dish is great and in have nearly eaten everything on the menu. Try the cocktail of the month it rarely disappoints. If you stay at the hotel children eat for free if you vacate by 7pm which is fine if you arrive anywhere from 5:30pm to 6pm. Make sure you book as it is often booked out.

Not recommend for hotel breakfast. We spent a day at hilton lake taupo. Breakfast from this restaurant was not as good as i expected. Because of the name Hilton, we expected 5 star hotel breakfast. Quality of the food was very good in general, BUT the variety of food was almost like motel.

Food was great. When we arrived the kitchen was very backed up so the staff (which seemed quite low considering how busy it was) for us free drinks at the bar. Food was excellent, the portion sizes however were MUCH larger than expected. Overall it was good. Just a shame about our wait for the food and the very large portion sizes. The service from waiters was exceptional.

Good food and atmosphere. The waitress who delivered our food to the table walked away right after she put down the dish right in front of our 9month old baby. Our baby instantly put his hand into the hollandaise (which contains raw eggs, harmful for babies) and almost drag the plate off the table. For a family friendly hilton restaurant, thought they could do with more training around young kids.

Im very spoilt when it comes to food . Generally food was good BUT. Beef cheek ravioli should have been served with a spoon to enjoy the broth . A crustini should have accompanied taurine. Lamb rump could have had more caramalization and should have been rested long enough to ensure it didn't bleed out into the polenta. Also once alerted to issues the matadee should have approached the table . Full credit to our waitresses impeccable service.

Beautifully presented dishes that taste as wonderful as they look, great service and nice view of the lake, but very pricey. The bar is also a nice relaxing place for a quiet afternoon tea or evening drinks.
