Beautiful food at this gorgeous atmospheric cafe. Gluten free is amazing here. It is not labeled GF because they use what flour and rice flour in the kitchen. Just ask Staff. The service is attentive and super friendly. Lovely place . The best food ever !!!

Really good café. We had Japanese hash and Double Black Benny, both were well cooked and tasty. Coffee was also well made, with nice latte art to boot. The interior is quite nice although a little look due to lack of soft furnishings, but nice enough. Service was friendly. The cinnamon bun was the only slightly disappointing thing food wise, while it was technically a good piece of bread the cinnamon flavour was too light and it wasn't sticky enough, but I guess that is subjective.

Lovely friendly front staff. The ‘Double black original hash with halloumi’ was absolutely delicious! Great mocha’s & coffee too…pleasure to visit.

Great food, coffee and view! We had the Bacon Eggs Benedict and muesli bowl, and both were great. The long black was also spot on. Definitely recommend!

We were really excited to try here having read the reviews and menu but have to say we were left a little disappointed. The mushrooms on toast with beetroot hummus was a little chaotic and we weren’t convinced by the cold pulled pork on eggs bene. Nice outside area to eat in the sunshine though.

Lovely cafe with a cosy interior, delicious coffee, plus I really like the idea of borrow takeaway cups, wish more other cafe's would have this option.

Can't say enough good things. Stopped here for lunch on a long driving day and was well taken care of. Had a Latte, a spicy green curry veggie pie, and a raspberry white chocolate brownie. Everything was stellar. Would definitely come back if I was in the area again.

Superb. Nice coffee, great staff and the food is delicious. Dogs and kids are well catered for. It gets busy but service is always prompt.

Absolutely fantastic cafe! We came here regularly while we were in Wanaka for a week. It's away from all the tourists in town. The coffee was delicious every time, staff are super friendly and there's a huge selection of super tasty sweet and savoury cabinet food. If you're up for a meal DEFINITELY eat here. All the food that comes out of the kitchen looks divine. There's a great selection of seating inside and out with covered and uncovered options outside. Don't miss this cafe with great music, fast wi-fi, a chilled vibe and super coffee. The iced coffees are well priced.

Great presentation and very nice staff but a bit too expensive and a bit uncomfortable in cold weather as people seating outside would often leave the door open. Can’t even remember if it tasted good as I got very annoyed with inconsiderate customers leaving the door open...

This review is a long time coming! Double black is by far the best cafe in the area. Ridiculously accomodating, super friendly staff, always very open and honest and kind. Brilliant chef. Wicked coffee!!

Friendly team, great coffee and tasty food

I really like the Café, the coffee is tasty and the food is really good and freshly made. Also it has a really nice outdoor area where you can enjoy the drink/meal in the sun. Staff is really friendly and a conversation starter which is always a nice thing to have. In my opinion it's kind of expensive but that might be because I'm a Backpacker.

Cute cafe in Albert Town out of the busyness of Wanaka. There’s usually some gluten free options in the cabinet which is great, and always good coffee 👌. They used to do THE BEST Buckwheat pancakes I’ve ever had but they’re not on the menu anymore 😭 I would give five stars and go a lot more if they still had them!

Faboulous stop. We were biking around Wanaka and the area and stopped at double black for cofee and cake. Perfect!

Very good cafe. Excellent friendly service. Lovely food and good sized servings. Excellent range and exceptional quality cabinet food. Very good underground coffee. Maybe not quite as comfortable as some cafes but perfectly adequate. Well worth the trip slightly out of town. Gets very busy after 8am.

Lovely cafe in Albert Town close to Wanaka! Super friendly staff and the coffee is simply delicious (try the home made chai latte)! I really like their cabinet food and menu options, the fish cake was beautiful. Definitely recommend it for breakfast or lunch... Treat yourself :-)

Very nice food. My husband had a meat pie which he said was excellent. I had salmon salad which had plenty of salmon in it. Had long black coffee and cappuccino both excellent.

Really enjoyed our time here. We walked over from Wanaka, around the base of Mount Iron and were in desperate need of breakfast, coffee and tea. One of our party declared it had "the best coffee in New Zealand". The meals were the perfect size and came out so quickly. All the staff were lovely to deal with and the cakes we took for further fuel on our walk were delicious - the citrus slice was a favourite with all.

This is the most excellent cafe I've been in my 6 weeks on South Island! It's nestled in a small neighborhood and clearly a favourite of both locals and travelling outdoors people. It's family friendly (and attached to a daycare), the owner is really nice, I had the best cheese scone of my life, outdoor seating, wifi, and plenty of healthy lunch options for all dietary requirements.

nice little quiet cafe near to wanaka. the barista was able to pull some nice latte art. Ordered a capuccino to go and requested for milk not to be scalding. received well with a cup that is just nice warm and not hot. the coffee extraction could be improved, a little more complexity would be better. probably shots are not calibrated today, coffee tasted a bit weak. but is already one of the better ones i had in SI. i like the setting and environment of this cafe too. very relaxing vibe!

Have been travelling around the South Island for a week and so far this Is the only place that has hit the mark with the perfect coffee! Stumbled across it while taking a walk with my son and so glad I did!

I hadn't been in the area for two years and was keen to call in to my favourite cafe, Double Black Cafe. It didn't let me down! Beautiful cakes and chips to die for. In fact today we sat in the cafe at the Cardrona ski fields contemplating lunch. In no time a decision was made to leave the mountain and head to Double Black before they closed. Once there 3 of us endulged in chips and coffee while I had a delicious lemon curd cake. It is still my favourite.

Lovely food and great coffee. vegetarians catered for. We really enjoyed the "hash stash" and treats. Only downside is the "background" music was bad and MUCH too loud. It was very intrusive and hard to ignore. (It was too windy to sit outside, but that's beside the point)

Beautiful cafe with a large assortment of sweet & savory options for all tastes. Loved it so much we went back multiple times. That staff was friendly & overall we loved each experience.

Location is a bit random but there aren't many other drink or food options in the area. Modern feel. Simple food but looks generally good. The place was surprisingly busy and the space is quite small. It was quite noisy as a result. Good coffee.

Cool cafe slightly out of Wanaka township so a really great place to chill. Awesome range of cabinet food and menu food. Coffee is great! Love the fenced outdoor area for the kids to play.

The Benetto hot chocolate was awesome, so tasty and vegan. Lots of dairy free and gluten free options. The drinks and pastries were a highlight but some of the main meals were a little disappointing for the price point. Located in Albert Town outside busy Wanaka , service was quick and friendly

I had a soy flat white and the eggs benedict with rosti and veggies. Oh my days they were both totally delish! Nice place too.

Despite a rather inauspicious location in the burbs of Albert Town... Double Black is firmly on the map as the go to place for local tradies, families and bikers from the nearby clutha river and hikuwai trails. The coffee selection is pretty good - they do iced coffee, single origin coffee etc. They sell keep cups. There is some outdoor seating, outdoors is dog and kid friendly. Can get very busy at times and at peak times we have waited 20 mins for our coffees.

Lovely cafe just outside of Wanaka. Some of the best cafe food I've had. The original hash had a wonderful balance of flavour and texture with the kumara crisps.

Really nice place and staff very friendly and professional. Unfortunately we had mixed experiences with the food. Would still give it another crack.

Came by on my mountain bike tour. Instantly fell in love with this cafe. One of the best in NZ (been in over 50 diff. cafes all over the country until now).

Delicious and healthy morning menus, great coffee and a wicked place in Albert Town. Conveniently open from 0630, 7 days a week. Suggest the loaded porridge with buckwheat etc and the pancakes.

Great little cafe on the cycling route between Lake Hawea and Wanaka. The cheese and pesto scrolls are delicious. There is ample bike parking out the front and place for kids to play.

Great friendly staff. Cheerful and eager to please. Assisted us by chang ing blue to green milk, and still smiled even though we were sharing a pot of tea and sharing a cake .... not their biggest sale of the day!

We were part of a big group on a Sunday morning, the place was packed and we still all got our meals served at the same time. Very impressive! The food is amazing here and the staff are excellent.
