J.Came here during the Newtown Festival. It was packed! But that didn’t lower the quality or service. The kids enjoyed their spiders and my latte was great. Recommended.
b.Coffee always great, vegan toastie was amazing. Love the revolving art on walls, although this time seemed to be more comercial prints in old frames less local, but because it changes regularly not a problem.
R.Lovely coffee, but the top price scone was forgotten and left in the press for so long it was impressively hard. There was a nice apology on delivery, but the waiter really must have known it was not fit to serve. A requested replacement was so lightly toasted it had cold areas. I felt unable to complain again.

S.Well never have i ever walked into a cafe and burst into tears (due to life) and the beautiful team at black coffee were so so darn kind and sweet and gave me a moment... went to pay and they were like 'nah way, let's try make ya day some how'... you have no idea how much it did... coffee was dreamily good and loved every step I took slurping on that yum stuff!!
Came back a couple of days later and bought their scone... shut ya fave crunchy and delicious... and coffees consistently good... thank you thank you for being you guys!!

G.Black coffee had become quite a regular stop for me. The service has always been friendly and engaging. Because the kids are a bit fussy, we've found ways to make modifications to the menu to suit their needs. The staff have always been helpful in finding ways to make it work.
L.A quirky cool coffee place in Newtown. Eclectic range of customers, good (but not intrusive) music, free WiFi, and lovely serving staff. A nice place to be, whilst enjoying great coffee and interesting food.
G.When you see “tradies” reading the paper next to people working on laptops you know the coffee is good and the food is too.
Enjoy the toasties (gluten free available) and if you don’t drink coffee, (I don’t) the lemon, ginger and honey (with cloves added) is delicious. But almost best of all; a pinball machine!!!

D.Best coffee in Newtown...(sorry Peoples)...but flavour and making is absolutely consistent and top notch.....staff are awesome people too!! The only wee bug-bear is the cost of the food is a wee bit steep for portion size...and I confess, there are 4.5 star cafes around the traps that have larger more appealing candidates for less on the food front. Just a thought? ...because I really want to eat something here. 😇

Coffee and tea are really good. I got a bliss ball it was super delicious.
E.cosy n comfortable. short and sweet menu comprising toast/related options. staff are cheery and laid back which fuels the relaxed atmosphere.
V.Such a lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff who are not only very talented and professional but also warm kind and friendly. The local art up for sale on the walls is gorgeous and inspiring, and the pinball machine is super cool. Really Highly recommend this place.

R.Nice looking place. Very stylish. Pinball tables and art for n the walls, both permanent and purchasable. The staff are really chill n nice and I think they make a good cup of coffee BUT the coffee itself it very average. Such a shame, I want to go in but with 2 People's Coffee venues so close and a Mojo beans a little walk down I can't say I'd go there for the coffee.
Still better than Rubia across the road.

F.Tucked away in the dense Newtown shops, Black Coffee is a treasure of a cafe for those who enjoy an unpretentious, rustic locale to relax with a cup of coffee and a toastie.
Staff were vibrantly pleasant and happy to answer all my enquiries about their expansive selection of coffee styles.
I got a cream cappuccino and found the flavour to be powerfully rich, slightly acidic with a nutty vibe. A coffee drinker's coffee.
I also got the bacon toastie which was delicious but could perhaps use a flavour tweak to balance the tangy tomato sauce.

C.Great little hole in the wall for a good coffee and delicious toasted sandwiches (some other brunch-ish options available but this is pretty much it). Staff are super friendly and expect rotating odball art on the walls. Sandwiches can be vegan / vego friendly.
H.A great little local coffee shop with excellent coffee (Havana brand), friendly staff and yummy scones and toasties. A regular Saturday meeting place for a bunch of us to korero Maori. We wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

J.Great vibe and community spirit here, this has become the heart of Newtown in many ways. Check out the art and music for sale, the jukebox, and if you're adventurous try the Tumeric Chai Latte coffee. It's amazing.
