Update! Some more photos added from our recent visit. Joes garage has always been my favorite, ever since I lived in Queenstown. Their rewards point is very addictive just as their breakfast and coffee. I have been a long term customer and the quality of service, food and coffee has never dropped for a second. Be it Wellington or both their outlets in Queenstown ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Took the family for lunch today and they did not disappoint. The food, as always, was yummy but the service was exceptional. I have younger children and had a fantastic experience from the staff - only the large bar table seats in the middle was available but our great waiter kept an eye out for us for a booth to be come available and got one for us not long after. Thank you and can't wait to come back again soon.

The staff here are great and every single one of them was super friendly to us. The restaurant is a decent size and has a typical menu so you'll easily find something to eat, from the typical burgers and pizzas to fish. The pizzas were very tasty. My only down side was that the beers on tap unfortunately weren't what I drink and I thought there would be more selection, other than that it was a great experience and we had a good time.

Went on Sunday evening, ordered jfc and kumara chips as well the pork belly main, ribs and beef burger. Great food. Great service and we didn't wait long at all. Will definitely return for the jfc and kumara chips🙌

Oh my sweet mother mary! BEST COFFEE In NZ (well that I've tasted so far and I've had my fair share). Their blend is perfectly balanced and the barista did a fantastic job creating a smooth velvety milk. I also had their warm fruit crumble which took me back to my nana's on those cold winter nights with a warm rhubarb pudding 💜💜. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting wellington, not to mention their customer service is absolutely lovely and just the overall vibe is one of a kind and warming. THANKS JOES. 🙌💜

Amazing atmosphere, really friendly staff, quick service and flavorful food. I order the Gorgeous George Vegetarian option and it has potato. Spinach, hollandaise sauce and eggs. Really tasty!! I will definitely recommend coming for breakfast and I will be back to try their lunch menu too. Is also family friendly and accommodate big groups.

My son was devastated that KFC was closed to walk-ins due to level 2.... then we past Joe's Garage whilst walking back to our car. Joe's Garage has JFC burgers to die for! My teenage son can eat a lot, but he couldn't finish it. I wish I could post a picture here because he could hardly get his mouth around it. In future we'll always go to Joe's Garage to fulfill our chicken burger cravings. Our salads were top shelf too.

Excellent service, great coffee and a menu where your spoilt for choice, I decided on the pancakes and they were the best I have ever had. They provided colouring in and an extensive menu for the kids too. I love the vintage toy trucks they use as cutlery holders and the chest of old toys for the kids. Staff looked amused and were very patient listening to how they proposed to pay the bill. Enjoyed our short visit & kids were excited to enter in a 'Coloring-In' competition. We had a great night at Joe's Garage. The staff were really under the pump with a booking at another table of about 50 people but still managed to look after us with a great friendly attitude.they continued to let us kno how far away our meal was. Food was also great!

Had the eggs on toast with cold salmon and a long black. The coffee was average. The salmon was good but the fried eggs were raw on top. Had to scrape a translucent layer of uncooked egg off of it. Not a great experience to be honest. Not what you expect when you can get eggs on toast pretty much anywhere.

One of my favorite cafes in Wellington, my recent visit - after a long break - was one of the best ever! The place is still amazing inside; clean but richly textured and interesting, with lots of metal, concrete, and wood to help sell the “Garage” aesthetic. The staff are great - my barista on this visit was particularly amazing; effusive, friendly, and with a bright spark in his eyes that revealed that his level of engagement wasn’t in any way fake or forced. The coffee I ordered - a mocha for myself and flat white for my wife - was delicious, far above the already high standard you should expect from Wellington. The food, too, was brilliant - order yourself a “sweetie” if you want to experience “simplicity done well”. Time to make Joe’s a regular spot again - even if it is now out of my way to do so; it’s worth the diversion.

We dined here on two consecutive nights and each experience differed vastly. First night was faultless, the second night unfortunately was a huge contrast. Big wait on over cooked, over sauced food plus a real lack of enthusiasm from staff except the one waitress who had charming on both nights.

Earliest opening cafe in Wellington; possibly. An excellent breakfast; definitely. I was just at the end of an early morning shift and Joe's provided a great spot to reset for the rest of the weekend with a top quality scrambled eggs and mushroom on toast. Obviously washed down with a large flat white that delivered a much needed caffeine hit. Interestingly they limit the choice of eggs to scrambled or fried. No poached eggs here. I was too tired to argue and tbh the scrambled were perfect. The food and coffee were backed up by a cosy atmosphere and excellent service. The early opening was a bonus.

Was dining here on Monday night, 31 May 2021 with a group of 4. Absolutely brilliant...the food & service was top notch. Our server was super friendly and attentive, made some great suggestions, and generally set the tone for our evening. For starters we had the basil pesto, fresh parmesan, flakey sea salt flat bread with a large bowl of chips n gravy - delicious. Mains we had the JFC chicken burger, pork belly, mr pink salmon & eddie would go pizza - not a crumb left on our plates. Really recommend this place, great location, great atmosphere, superb food and just the best service! We'll definitely be back for another session.

Nice staff, nice vibe and clean toilets. Menu caters for vegetarian, gluten free and meat lovers. Two little tables outside on (fairly quiet for the city) street for smokers. Prices are good and music is fine. Had a good time and will go back for sure!

Iconic downtown eatery that hasn't lost its charm over the years - the breakfast/lunch menu is good and the after 5pm menu also good choice as well - the family's vote on the beef burgers is that they are better than BFuel or GorillaB, and we are unanimous in our opinion of the deserts (apple crumble, cheesecake and sticky date pudding - all of which are made on site) that they are a level above anything else in town - staff are very friendly, great decor and ambience - all in all a great place to go at any time and one of top choices that the family will always have on our list of regulars.

First impressions were great. The place is clean, well air conditioned and nice and roomy. We were immediately greeted and served by very friendly and helpful staff, the staff member who helped us was particularly nice and cheerful. I did have one criticism and that was that the bathrooms weren't particularly clean when I went in and should be maintained better Lunch: The food was well cooked and delicious. Featuring mainly meat based items such as burgers and rolls they still maintain a very simple but delicious menu featuring various creative combinations. The main meal tasted great and the desserts were also good with the ice cream being particularly nice. Updated review- Dinner: Previously I had given this place 5 stars in my review and had highly recommended it. Unfortunately I have now brought that rating down to three stars due to the dinner we had here. The schnitzel was bland and chewy, the milkshake was plain and boring and the beef hotpot was ruined by a strange ingredient they added which I couldn't place. If you are going to eat here definitely go at lunchtime as their dinner menu is far inferior

If you don't like meat on the rare side then ask to have your burger cooked to medium. chicken burger is bang on. tender, fresh, cheesy!!! Generally great breakfast in town. But today Oct 2020 food was a bit average. Waiting time of 40 /45 minutes did not help but when it arrived it was not that great. Would recommend them on any day but if they are busy I think they struggle to keep up. Will not be able to rate higher as there are other cafes that nail the food also when they are busy.

The fruit crumble (rhubarb and apple with fine rolled oats on top and served with yoghurt) was very nice and very yum, and the orange juice was nice, too, possibly freshly squeezed. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the service was oh so slow - I subtracted 1 star because the service was so slow. I would happily eat here again if I had plenty of time to spare.

Myself and my Mother originally were headed for Mama Browns Restaurant but it was extremely busy and we did not want to feel overwhelmed by people so we noticed Joe's Garage Restaurant and ventured into the unknown. Very polite waitstaff we did not wait long to be seated. Chefs cook pretty much in front of you at the bar, Orders did not take long to come to the table which I liked. I ordered the Pork Belly an Mum ordered the Cheeky Joe's Beef Hot Pot with Garlic Bread, The entire meal was well cooked and very delicious I highly recommend that people go here, relaxed atmosphere and the rugby was on screen also yes I highly recommend Joe's Garage I rarely give tips but for the lovely friendly service I tipped $10 😁🤘💋

Asked for a bacon bap with brown sauce. When we got back to our hotel room we notice the bap had brown sauce in it already, great. However they put in a pot on the side extra brown sauce and the receipt says they charged us an extra dollar for this. Our exact words were "Bacon Bap with Brown Sauce" not extra sauce. Be careful how you word it! They really should say if it is going to be an extra charge. On the plus side bacon was great!

Had dinner here with a group of friends. Booked for 12 and were placed at a cramped booth extended by a small table. The restaurant was full and we were unable to be moved. Not an ideal set up for the number of people. The food was pretty good, tasty burgers, nice moist 'Chicken Joe', but an undercooked pork belly. If you're looking for a good BYO place, Joe's Garage doesn't charge a corkage fee. If you're not after a BYO restaurant, beware of the possibility of rowdy teens.
