Food is pretty good damn god with a huge portion size. Wait times can be a lucky dip though sometimes food comes out quick sometimes it takes a while but worth the wait imo 😁 here's a pic of a friendly seagull

An institution. Returning here after many years away and it still rocks. We called in for lunch and weren’t disappointed. Funky setting and vibe, great staff and awesome food. Smoked Kahawhai and Karaage Chicken recommended. We will be back!

One of my favourite places to visit from Whitianga. Today we checked open times on Google and then phoned to double check and they confirmed open until 2:30pm. We said “great we are coming for lunch.” Yippee. So gathered up kids and spent $25rtn on ferry, walked a reasonable distance to get there to find that they were closed?!! Grrrrrr unhappy family - and I’m out of pocket on the ferry trip too.

Great homemade gelato 🍧 and great service from the man. Girls really could up their game in terms of putting on a friendly smiley face. They looked sour.

Excellent coffee and tasty food that is nicely presented. All the ingredients are locally sourced and free range. There are not a lot of cafe options in the area and prices are what to expect in a seasonal location.

Located in front of Flaxmill Bay, this cafe is a popular stop for locals and tourists alike. We enjoyed the fish and chips, Banh Mi, salads and carrot cake. We had a minor problem with the orders at the counter, easily sorted by the attentive kitchen staff. We like the cozy, homey atmosphere, the art works, the trampolene and the company of dogs from their neighboring house.

Very cozy family fun restaurant & store. Friendly & great, unique food. Fusion food! Great environment for the family & kids. There's a small playground at the back, swings & rope. All shaded under large cooling & breezy trees. You'll love it!

Such a great cafe to visit - love the chilled out atmosphere. The food was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and approachable. Our daughter was in a wheelchair, the ramp via the rear entrance was very helpful. It has a little shop on site that sells some clothing and local produce and they even make their own ice-cream & sorbet which was sooo tasty! Family friendly, we dined for the lunch menu. Definitely recommend.

We always like this place...great food and great service....in a hidden gem....the only disappointing side is this place is not open for 7 days/w when the town is quiet....I know we are selfish to say that....as you deserve a break...but as a local...we thank you for the great food and service.

Lovely organic food, the quiche was substantial in size and big on taste. Interesting art and sculptures on sale, but the outside gardens could do with a bit of a tidy up.

A beautiful little place. Their eggs benidict is delicious but the eggs were a bit over cooked. The waffles were also amazing, if anything a bit big but still tasty nonetheless.

Really good coffee! and cakes!! Relaxed atmosphere, close to beach and authentic. Not a big fan of the interior magazine mosaic wall 'art' with naked body bits. But then that's personal taste. Great food and service.

Nice cafe and nice restaurant. We had lunch here when visiting one day and it was absolutely stunning. I had the fish with lemon sauce which was really good and I will never forget the salad! It was so good that we came back for a sweet treat later that day. The cheesecake was good but I wasn't seduced by the ice cream. We came back some days later for dinner. It was amazing. We had venison and duck and then cheesecake and chocolate dessert. It was just perfect! Best chocolate dessert I have had in a long time!

Since our first visit in 2005 it's always been a pleasure to dine at Eggsentric. Great tastes and always a quirky twist to go with it.

Amazing food, service and ambience. The lemon risotto hotcakes were the best flavour ever. Baileys cheesecake served with a shot of Baileys...so clever.

Delicious food. I had scallops (entree as a main - generous portion sizes) and kumara chips. Limited selection particularly if you have dietary requirements. Quirky atmosphere. Make sure you book for dinner as it is a busy place.

The food was delicious. We can well recommend Eggsentric for dinner. The wild venison and steak were cooked to perfection and the rhubarb crumble was divine. Because it was dinner we left Maggie in the car so she gives it a 0 paw rating especially as she didn't even get a doggie bag. Who cares? ( sorry Maggie dog, we love you dearly).

Nice find this cafe was recommended to us and was only a short walk from the ferry. Staff friendly food good quality just a little limited no GF option and had to ask for extra ketchup as only brought a little pot for 5 of us loads of artwork and sculptures in and around the cafe for sale

A unique cafe with rustic charm, a relaxed vibe and consistently great food. We love this place and a meal (at least one!) here is always a must whenever we are in Whitianga. Highly recommended.👌

The salad we had, with whipped Feta, was visually awesome with incredible flavours. The orange almond cake with coconut cream was outstanding. We left with a hot loaf of fresh ciabatta bread. This place is very, very good.

We were recommended to come here by a local, and it was certainly justified - wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff, and a menu to die for. We shared a seafood platter, and both had the fish of the day - beautifully cooked and immaculately presented. My husband particularly liked the board telling customers that only organic full-fat milk was available! Highly recommend.

We tried this restaurant over a year ago and didn't realize what a gem we stumbled upon at the time! I had the scallops on hot corn cakes and have been craving them ever since. Maybe the cooks were having an especially great day, but I thought everything tasted fantastic and incredibly fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're up this way on the island.

This is such a cool cafe and definitely worth a visit if you're at Cooks Beach (or even catching the ferry across from Whitianga). There are two main outdoor areas to eat and a large space indoor with art installations and paintings everywhere. It looks like most, if not all of the art is for sale. It was very busy the morning we went so there was quite a wait for food but it was excellent once it arrived. One thing to note, you need to select a table and find the table name before ordering as the staff will ask for it.

Good atmosphere but far too expensive for what they offer. Smoothies are certainly not worth $8. Excellent fries though!

Ok place with organic products but fairly pricey

Always stop by Eggsentric when I'm in the area as it has great food, coffee and atmosphere. Loads of space to sit inside or in their huge garden surrounded by art pieces. Extensive menus with enticing specials are available. I also had the opportunity to go to one of their gigs which was well organised, great line up and great fun all round.

I loved the garden and the sculptures outside. Really quirky and interesting to wander around and then find yourself in the amazing mini-health food store which is connected to the cafe! I loved the look of the cafe and the artwork but the food and service was why I gave it a 4/5. Just ok. Also the ice cream freezer looked like it wasn’t cold enough in there (melting), otherwise I would’ve ordered some. I would definitely go back though, maybe I just caught them on an off-day :)

As others state, don't be put off by the eclectic vibe outside, the food was wonderful! We started with scallops on corn hotcakes (delicious), then my partner had the duck (beautifully flavored and very moist) and I had the eggplant with nuts/pomegranates/yoghurt, also delicious. They recommend bookings, but we happened to go right at dinner opening (6pm) and had no trouble.

Stopped in for lunch. Service was wonderful but the food...oh, the food. It was so good. I had a falafel salad filled with fresh veggies and falafel. My husband had the Man Bun, beef sandwich with waffle fries. Great lunch spot. Thanks!

Do not be put off by creative exterior this place is delicious! We just knew it was going to be good from the handmade ciabatta top notch. Had the fish of the day and the duck both lovely and service excellent. Keen to come back for brunch!

Was hoping its gonna be open for a coffee since it was October already, excited that it was but after walking in through cool garden I felt more like a trouble for the lady there. Otherwise normal coffee, pleasant surroundings, cool fireplace and cute little shop

Wow just wow. A simple menu that is executed with flourish and style something sorely lacking in this day and age. Had the duck, venison, steak and fish of the day. Each dish was devine. Desserts were not to be shrugged at yum yum yum. Service was good. Thanks for a great night

What a hidden gem! Wacky & wonderful artwork everywhere..we went back the next day for lunch..the food was great,really enjoyed this place..super friendly staff.

Fantastic duck, quirky atmosphere, great service, prices are what you'd expect from a nice restaurant. It's a pity they stop selling lunch in the afternoon and it's restricted to cakes and coffee until dinner. There is an organics and upmarket food store attached.

If you're staying in Whitianga catch the ferry across and walk ten minutes to this lovely cafe. The food was all organic or local and fresh. There's also a small organic shop and a playground outside.

Last food stop on your way to the Whitianga Ferry. The pricing is not tourist driven so well worth the money and the atmosphere is something magical. Very kid friendly.

popped in for coffee and cake, was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, it was nice to experience something different from the general cafe. delicious blueberry muffins fresh out of the oven, yum yum. and great to see vegetarian options on the menu!! definately recommend, i'll be going back soon thats for sure.

Tolle Location, nice food

Yummy food, especially the spinach and cheese savory scone. Fast service. Cute and quirky decor with interesting paintings. I like that the tables have names.

The food was lovely and the maitre d' too unfortunatly the waitresses were not very attentive and the entree and main meal a little slow. There was a nice rustic feel to the place with some interesting art work and Ive heard if you can sing take a guitar and mabey you'll get your meal for free. So over all if the prices were a little cheaper my expectations probably wouldn't have been as high.
