J.Quick and fast if you know what you want. Great at fixing laptops that may have an issue and dealing with cell phones. Difficult to follow present Covid signage however but we got through and made our purchase. Helpful staff and very pleasant.
T.Great product selection and the best prices I could find.
Do yourself a favor though, order online and have it delivered. I click and collected with the intention of browsing for a new case, AIO cooler and fans, they would not let that happen, I struggled to buy case fans as the sales staff don't seem interested in helping. I bought the rest of my stuff online from Computer Lounge because of their terrible customer service.
M.It's more like a warehouse which isn't what I expected, so if you go, make sure you know what you want by looking through the website. If you live far away from any PB tech like me, just order, don't drive in to go and look for anything.
The guy at the door that day was a bit rude, I asked some questions because I didn't expect the layout like it was, but for the most everyone else was nice. The prices is really good, I'd just order from them in the future.
S.Don't go on a big weekend sale like Easter. Theres not enough car parking and they shut the store down to just counter service so there no point in going in to buy a few things unless you know exactly what it is you are after. You can buy everything on line and pick up but you will still need to park somewhere and that's an issue on sale days. The good news is if theres not a massive sale going, its probably a great place. Lots of stock and knowledgeable staff help tremendously. Great prices and you can use the website to check stock levels or od click and collect.
S.Lady staff member was lovely, couldn't believe it was so expensive for postage tho lol it cost me $20 all up for an $8 item. Won't be doing that again. But she was very helpful, we found what we were after and she did it quickly on rhe computer 🖥 😃

P.Bought an ex-demo Asus ROG phone from here. Had my doubts after 2 customers left reviews for this phone that it developed screen burn (only shows up on white screen). So I assumed their ex demo would've had the AMOLED replaced after techs found the screen burn. Turned phone on and immediately had "game changer" burnt into white screen. They happily contacted me and got it shipped back for a full refund so I changed response from 1 star to 4 star now

s.Terri ble to try to correct with them via phone, I think the phones must be for appearance only, I have tried both Christc hurch branches several times on several different days, at differing times. (never between 12→2pm - lunch break period?) BUT NO-ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE. . . are the just toys? Imaginary, for looks only, or just for staff to call their friends, insignificant others????!!!!

A.I'd just like to say how fantastic my experience has been with PB Tech Hornby branch.
Back in early February I placed an order for Ion Mustang turntable which was out of stock at the time. This was for a birthday present in late Feb.
Unfortunately, the due date arrived and passed with still no sign of the item.
Mid March I had to cancel the order because the recipient of the gift had purchased a similar product themselves and had no need for another.
I sent an email off to the PB Tech team explaining this. Shortly afterwards (within the hour!) I had a reply stating how sorry they were for the inconvenience and that a full refund would be applied immediately, stating 2-4 work days for the refund to show in my account.
Didn't think any more about it but was online checking my bank account that very same evening, and what should I see? ...yes, the refund from the girls and guys at PB Tech sitting there less than 8 hours after my initial email contact!!
Great work team. I will definitely be shopping with you guys again and will recommend the Hornby branch to all friends and family. Truly a five star experience!!!

C.Great place for all things tech with all the latest and greatest gadgets available and at a good price. (They do however fall a bit short when it comes to product knowledge. I guess not having enough trained staff maybe the issue. Other than that, the staff they do have offer as much help as they can.) ** It's been a year now since my last visit and staff issues look to have been resolved. **
M.Good until you have a problem. I'd only buy accessories there now and just check out there large range of devices for what I want then go elsewhere

I brought a cell phone from them. It went fine for about a year and a bit. Then I started having a problem. They have a look at it about 3 times each time the problem came back. After the third time. they gave me shop credit to amount i paid for the phone and the first place. I picked another phone. It was along process. But they never tried to get out of there warranty.
P.Could really do with a refresh, old and gross.
But it's cheaper than the likes of Noel Leeming, they want a part of your soul whilst they rip you off.

G.I tend to go here for computer items or extras, as well as a virus problem to be sorted. While the service side can take longer than advised and you have to wait for staff attention to find a product, the price is right.
F.I had been ordering a new PC build through PB Tech and they have had incredibly fast delivery times like 2-3 days fast. They where also very helpful when I ordered my Videocard a 3070 which was not in the country they where very accommodating over the phone and through email.
Overall amazing service and probably one of the best places to order product from that is in my country.
B.A very helpful staff member made our visit quick and easy. Great explanation of the computer we were looking at. There is a great range of tech products here that should suit everybody. Well worth a visit.

B.Helpful staff here, quick easy service and don't try to get you to pay for more then you have asked for. They also have very good displays and good products here and things so you can try them before purchase. Staff will approach in a friendly manner and not ask you 500 times to buy something! Awesome store, wish they were in town though so I don't have to out of my way so much but otherwise this place is awesome!

B.I hadn't been into this place before but my old computer had spat the dummy downloading windows & no I don't know how 🤔. Anyway I had a bit of a look around & spotted a 🟥💻 at the right price 🎉 & with all the bits & pieces. I found that all my questions were answered & not in a hurried way but with an understanding that the customer wanted correct information. You go into some places these days & the goods are almost thrown at you but not here.HERE you are treated like a customer should be & on that alone I would definitely go back for any other stuff I needed here. c.Parts are fine, prices are decent, but "pickup in store" always involves a wait while they find the item. If you go for delivery, it seems to be always sent from Auckland even if in stock locally.
Could do with a bicycle lockup stand somewhere on the site too.
L.Large range, great place to pick up last minute tech or a new phone. Recommend shopping around online rather than making this place your one stop shop though.

A.PB tech has some good prices comparatively with other electronic stores and they have a handy click and collect option. One downside I found with this PB is the car park is very tight and tricky to use when the place is very busy.
T.EDIT: We went back and Salesman Chat at the Christchurch store was a big help. He helped us choose a replacement laptop and we were very happy with the outcome. Thanks Chat!

PREVIOUS REVIEW: Good prices, but it seems like they might be selling B-stock laptops. We had two laptops from PB Tech and both had problems. The after-sales service was appalling. They were dismissive, and we were made to feel like WE were the problem. They wanted to get rid of us. When a product is not up to standard that's not our fault.
I have bought many products at PB Tech and it didn't feel like they cared about their customers, they seemed to just want more money.

C.It was a great shop for me trying to get the components necessary for my first PC build, everything was contained within the right section very well so easy to navigate in store. Only downside is I wanted to build the PC ASAP and a lot of the parts I wanted weren't in stock so I had to make compromises on a big portion of them. Staff were super helpful and amazing with assisting me. I know it's part of the store agenda but they kept trying to sell me extras for the PC, would have fallen for it if my friend wasn't there with me. Was a bit of a communication problem going back and forth for the staff to check out for stock though

M.This is my preferred electronic store in Christchurch. They have lots of stock and decent sales all the time. The staff are helpful enough, and the selection of monitors is truly fantastic. They did not hassle me about a return I had once either so I keep going back. Good stuff.

A.Great experience with building a desktop. Carl helped with part choice and part compatibility. Had some instability issues with the b550m motherboard and Ryzen 7 5800x, updating to the latest beta bios solved this issue. all round smooth experience. +1 to Carl Ren.
A.Had the product I wanted at a good price. A wee error in that a piece was missing; but after a quick check it was put right straight away. My third time dealing with them and a good experience every time.

V.So very happy with the staff at this store! They really know their stuff! It is a favourite of both mine and my husbands and we sometimes just go to browse and be nosey. Recently however the staff assisted me with a laptop repair and I found them to be incredibly honest and genuine troubleshooters who explained all the confusing aspects of computers to me in a way I understood. I highly recommend their service centre and their staffs knowledge.

A.4 stars for products, prices and availability. Met one lovely staff member and another who wasn't as pleasant. Was slightly annoyed to find the charge a surcharge fee for using lay-buy payment options as I have not seen or heard of profiting off profit.

A.Great choice options for TVs computers and EV scooters. We bought 2 scooters, however one was missing a pump connector the other the 3 pin charger plug. They found them when I went back. Really good scooters at $670 Ra. Good service too.

M.Recently stopped in to buy a new phone on my way through Christchurch at the start of a South Island road trip. I dealt with salesman Chat Mudi, who was awesome. As the stock had just arrived at Head Office and wasn't at the branch, he arranged an overnight courier to have it delivered from the North Island to our accommodation in Queenstown - the phone got there long before we did! He couldn't have been more helpful.
A few days after purchasing the phone (in a major hurry), I realised that I had just missed out on a bonus deal, which I hadn't noticed when purchasing the product. I emailed customer service and after explaining the situation, they honoured the deal - very impressed!
Both of these examples are why they continue to be my #1 choice for anything electronic - their customer service is top notch and they have an incredible selection of goods - top marks!

R.Great service. Installed an SSD drive to our laptop and added more ram. Very pleased with the careful way this was done and even though the bitlocker gave them hassles they still came in on price. Got the old hard drive fitted into an external case so very pleased.

This store has tech ranging from PC parts and other devices to phone cases and various useful accessories. I would very happily do business here again.

B.PB Tech has more of a warehouse-type feel to its store, yet this doesn’t degrade from their friendly and helpful staff, and wide variety of products. They quickly helped us locate a laptop we had found online, and on another occasion, they had the item we had ordered online ready for pickup as soon as we arrived at the store. Their prices are some of the best I have seen at most technology stores. I would highly recommend.

M.Probably the cheapest store you can found for electronics in Christchurch. They have excellent staff working there. All of them seems to be expert in their own department of sales. If you are planning to buy some good stuff there lookout for their special deals and sale days. I would prioritize this store at any time of year even for buying a small cable. Keep an eye on their website for their latest deals.

C.This is the go-to place in New Zealand for big-name tech at a decent price.
I would only recommend visiting outside of rush hour if possible (car parking can be a little chaotic), and when you've done your research and know what you want (staff can be tricky to catch if needed).

C.Great sized store. People where great too. If your going for computer parts I would recommend spending some time online as some parts are kinda hidden among all the other parts. Otherwise, feel free to talk to the staff about any recommendations and the likes, they are really helpful and friendly.

A quick phone call and a price match and I got exactly what I needed. My only complaint would be that there is only one PB Tech in Christchurch. Would be great to have another one on the opposite side of town ;)
G.Don't bother going to this store, there is nothing to see, the shelves are bare. Much easier just to shop with them on line. They have a very efficient mail order service.
A.Not of much use if you are after speciality or hard to find electronic equipments, but otherwise stocks most standard stuff. Neither good for finding bargains, plis and impolite staff, based on my experience. Shop online first, then go there to pick up.
O.Entering the door, one does think how the store does not seem to go for a very flashy appearance, with little budget put into a neon flashing sign to bring you in. So little there isn't one. The staff seem to be people who truly enjoy their job. If you know what you want, they will either agree or suggest a substitute to focus your needs more. Or if you have no idea what you want, every person has extensive knowledge of all aspects of what is in stock. With no one answering "I'll check of we have that in stock" you really get quick efficient service every time. Do not be fooled by the website of this service. To assure there costumers fair service, all online prices are including credit and visa costs. Coming into store, thy remove such costs with cash flow payment. A technology store that serves with intent to share rather intent to take money.
S.Great staff, easy to talk to and they understand your needs. I found the store a bit tricky to navigate and find what I was after.... Has a kind of warehouse vibe with stuff placed all over randomly. Prices are usuly the best in town. Good stuff guys.

L.I like PB as once again stock on there website was correct to what they had in store. The Christchurch store is very cold first thing in the morning. Only big thing that lets them down is on the last 2 visits I've had to hunt down staff to get items ring up from locked cabinets.

B.Very glad to have a store that stocks most pc hardware and technological appliances, the majority of items are at very good prices aswell. The staff are friendly and helpful, I had a team of 4 staff looking for one item for me. I highly recommend this store as it actually beats buying from online stores. Their shipping/courier option is also fast and secure.

N.My favourite store for IT gear. Staff are generally friendly and not pushy. Generous parking (except during one of their crazy sales :) ). If you're after anything techie then this should be top of your list of places to visit.

Would be 5 stars but location is an issue, and so is parking if they are busy.

A.Really helpful and knowledgeable staff. We got 3 very different items. One for my child's byod policy, a wifi USB adapter and an electric scooter. Staff very useful, and made it known anything could be returned if needed. I would recommend to anyone.
T.This store is HUGE!!! They almost always have the best prices on items i want tobuy and their array of stock is spectacular! The staff are super knowledgable most of the time and whenever I've gone in it's had a steady stream of customers in and out. They stock phones of all brands, including cheap but not necessarily inferior chinese brands.... tablets, office furniture, computers, laptops and all accessories.... cables... all the latest gadgets. They are the best!!

A.Sharing my recent experience at Pb Tech, Christchurch. I was recommended by one of my friends and it certainly turned out to be a great decision to buy my bluetooth microphone. Customer service was just at par as a few options were given, I think the guy name on the counter was Jot n his suggestions were just brilliant. Much recommended place.

P.Unorganized and staff not as much helpful. Not really much to say. Was not happy coming out of the shop after purchase. Just be careful when buying here because they have prices that seem good but once you pay you will see after gst and tax the price is much higher. I would recommend going to another store like Harvey Norman or noel leeming first and using this store as a last resort.
B.Very busy when there's a sale. Good service. Good knowledgeable staff. Use online reviews to help make an informed purchase, especially on printers, but that's wise at any technology shop.

C.Great website, and range of products. Have found the in store service to be a little hit and miss. Don't be fooled by some of their pricing though, often their sale prices are marginally lower than competitors regular price - they just use the out of date MSRP as the base. This is especially true for mobile phones so use Pricespy.

R.Pb tech is a big store with all kinds of it products. The stuff follows the law about exchange and warranty but nothing more... After I spent more than $3000 dollar for a computer I had a bed experience. I was waiting at the service desk for 10min, the guy who came out was totally unhelpfull and useless. I expect a better customer service. Next time I will order online...

The house call technician was (Marlo) and again I was grateful as the job was completed efficiently and with a willingness to maintain customer satisfaction.

L.The prices are good but service not great. Different responses to the same problem. Just don't know their products or IT well. I wouldn't be sure I was getting the best advice/info. As alot of goods are parallel imported if something goes wrong later they may be reluctant to take product back. If you know what you need and they have something that fits that then should be ok.
B.Somehow I always manage to find great prices on what I'm looking for every time I go in. Huge store with everything you'd ever want tech-wise.
N.2nd item I've purchased from pbtech in ChCh. Good range of products on display but neither of the laptops I've purchased were on display. Once shown the product on my phone though the staff were very obliging. Neither of the sales people I've dealt with made me feel hassled in any way and seemed reasonably knowledgeable. It would certainly be one of the places I would look at if making further purchases. Thanks.

T.Simply the best electronics store in Christchurch. Good prices on a lot of products, lots of sales and usually in my experience the staff is friendly.
Take note however that for a lot of the Chinese brands like Xiaomi, or simple accessories like low end phone cases or cables, it's usually a lot cheaper to buy it directly from China if possible.
Special sale days can get extremely busy, but they do have an online store, although I haven't used it.
B.Surprisingly poor customer service compared to their Wellington branch. Staff were busy talking to each other and didn't seem to have much time for customers. Would also be nice to see more Google phones on display.

m.Good click and collect system, make sure it's in stock at the shop you want to collect from or you will be waiting up to a week.
K.Got a new keyboard and a mouse as a bundle. The mouse made a very annoying squeak noise but I guess it was the manufacturer's fault, as the same replacement product made the same noise. But the customer service was great.

D.Go for buying NZ plug laptop charging cord, cheapest around. For a $4/6 standard international laptop charging cable can be converted to NZ clover pin charger. This is important because international adaptor SPARK inside and can cause the laptop mother board to fry.
T.Pretty good value depending on what your looking for. Isbn drives etc are cheapest there. Higher end PC stuff others can beat the price though
C.Really fast service I paid online and opted to pick up, it was ready within half an hour, when I got there very friendly and helpful, also good security for picking up prepaid items, I had to show photo ID which is great.

J.Big store, lots of stuff... But they feel the need to charge 2.5% surcharge when using credit cards... It's a bit misleading when you see prices showing on the shelf and then go to pay to find that they don't build in the credit card fee into the price like most places do... It's not like businesses have never been charged these fees before... It's a fact of business, especially when people are buying a huge amount of expensive items how else do you expect them to pay by.
S.Pb tech chch went above and beyond for me today. An online purchase that was faulty caused me some grief, the chch branch was happy to handle it even though it was sold online and not through that branch (great integration guys!!). The service was prompt, diagnostics done same day. Day after I dropped it off they had arranged a full replacement even though it was outside the manufacturers DOA policy.
Best of all Damon plugged my replacement laptop into the stores wifi and dropped 30 gig of software onto it for me, I was away for work and could not have done that at the hotel.

Not what I can great customer service, maybe I wasn't providing enough commission.
