After their amazing help setting up my fresh water pufferfish tank I came back to start my Marine tank journey. I spoke to an absolutely brilliant staff member on Saturday named Liam who went out of his way to teach me about many aspects of marine care and products and I left with some fantastic items to start my tank set up! He had a genuine interest in helping me and showing me how to give my future fish the best environment and care possible. I will definitely be returning to continue setting up my tank. His genuine care of the fish and their husbandry and willingness to show me, a beginner, was more than I could have asked for. I am looking forward to speaking with him again next time I am in, I would definitely recommend anyone interested in Marine keeping to speak with him :)

Hollywood Fish Farm in Albany has a good selection of small young aquarium fish, but not a huge selection, so be prepared that they may not have the species you are looking for, but you can probably find something similar if you are willing to compromise. Most of the fish on offer are very healthy, but I have occasionally seen some less healthy stock in there. They do occasionally have a very small selection of larger fish for sale, but it would be nice to see more larger specimens on offer. They also occasionally have turtles, amphibians and reptiles, if that's your thing. They also offer a fantastic range of tanks, filters, lights, pumps, chemicals, substrates and all the paraphernalia you could want for outdoor, indoor, cold, tropical, fresh and salt water setups. And then there's the great range of dried and frozen fish food products. The only real complaint I have is that they never replaced the large beautiful display tank that was such a draw card for customers. I used to love watching the fully grown fish cruising around in there, and there were always other customers mesmerized by it too. Such an inspiration, but now, sadly, a thing of the past. But the staff are still friendly, and highly knowledgeable on everything relevant to keeping fish and freely offer lots of great advice to help you on your journey.

Andrew from holly wood fish farm is amazing! Super positive and happy, also has great advice and shares lots of passion towards his job. Was just on the phone to him and asked if I could come see him in person for some advice on a fish but told me he wouldn’t be in tomorrow but still kindly recommended someone else but I told him that I would come a different day to make sure he would be able to help me out as I think he has amazing customer service! :)

The pump in our garden pond had stopped working and needed replacing. I was concerned that with no circulation the pond would soon begin to stagnate. I rang Hollywood Fish Farm to confirm the model availability and placed my order on-line, albeit very late on a Wednesday afternoon. I was prepared to have to wait for a Saturday delivery (at best). To my delight, the pump arrived on Friday afternoon and was soon installed! I want to commend Hollywood Fish Farm for their prompt and effective response, backed up in their warehouse and by the courier services. An easy company to deal with and an excellent product!

The staff at the Albany store know what they're talking about, and actually care about fish. The variety of stock - both live and not - is impressive, even if it's a little pricey. Freshwater fish are generally healthy, plants are kept in good shape, tanks look good overall. It's a shame the marine/reef section is so incredibly small, but it's adequate. Unfortunately, the store is always, always, always busy whenever I have visited, no matter the day. This means that you often have to wait by the counter for about 10-15 minutes before someone is free to help you. It's not their fault, but it does mean that it's rarely a quick trip in-and-out. That said, NONE of the other aquarium stores I've been to around Auckland - including the other Hollywood Fish Farm - have been anywhere near the expertise and engagement of this store.

Absolutely blown away by the service and friendly assistance of all the staff here. We are new fish owners and there was no judgement, just honest, knowledgeable, helpful staff all around. Our new tank and fish are super happy and we are definitely feeling the pull already to get a bigger tank and level up our aquarium game. Huge thanks to everyone at HFF!

I called these guys in an absolute panic about my Pleco. As I am not a local I couldn't bring him in to be looked at so they listened to my concerns and then gave me a good solution. Having almost no fish experience, I really had no idea what I was doing but they explained to me everything I needed to put my pleco to rights. They have a wonderful knowledge of their store products and about the fish they very obviously have a loving passion for. I made my order and to my surprise it arrived the very next day, from akl to whakatane, so I was very pleased with this experience! I definitely reccomend these guys for all your fish knowledge and needs! A huge thank you to the team!!

Fantastic experience today. Small aquarium emergency when i had to replace an Eheim impeller shaft after breaking an one. I phoned them to see if they had one instore and yes they did. Great friendly service on the phone and excellent customer service instore when I went to pick it up. I also purchased some beautiful healthy plants as well as some fish and other products. Great selection of product and livestock.

Dont buy HAILEA K-60 aquarium tank. The light blew up and filter was flimsy. The staff and shop is helpful but I need to visit them again (hopefully third time lucky) as the back part of the filter is missing after fixing. Addit: all fixed and going well. Have been in multiple times for many fish and selections. You can find many quality fishes here

After visiting the Mt Roskill store, I wasn't sure if I'd ever want to return to this company due to a very poor (1-star) customer service experience. However, I took my chances and visited the Albany store and was shocked by how tidy and well-cared-for their tanks and fish are, alongside the amazing and knowledgable staff members in comparison to the Mt Roskill branch. I was assisted by Andrew, who was very friendly, helpful and knew exactly what he was talking about. He was able to answer all of my questions with ease and gave me a lot of advice on how to run my tank. I live in Central Auckland, so Albany is a little bit of a drive, but if you are looking for excellent customer service, healthy fish and knowledgable staff members, please take the time to visit this store. Can occasionally get busy which causes a little queue for fish but staff are always friendly and make sure to acknowledge you while waiting. Awesome range of dry products for fresh and saltwater tanks. Great to see a dedicated saltwater section, wish there was more saltwater though.

Great people, super smart. The store always looks great. The only place I'd recommend in Auckland for getting into fish keeping, and once you have you'll know not to waste your time elsewhere.

Have had exceptional service from these guys. They really know their stuff and give great advice. From the times I've been in, it's clear that they take good care of their fish. Throughout the lockdown they have been really easy and quick to communicate with.

I recommend HFF 100% for all your aquarium needs! I live in Wellington, have made multiple online purchases and have even made a trip to Auckland to visit and purchase fish. I recently had an experience where a bit of a mix up was made and I received an item that wasn't quite right. HFF quickly rectified the issue and sent me a replacement free of charge and I got to keep the first item. How good is that? Their online messenger response time is excellent. Always polite and friendly and asks questions when they need clarity or extra information concerning your enquiry. In store, the team members are extremely knowledgeable and give really good background information on fish and compatibility recommendations. I look forward to returning in the near future!

Knowledgeable staff. We had no idea what we needed for our fish pond. Got it all in one go. Super busy when we were there which I think is telling of the quality.

The best place for all things fish, the staff are great and knowledgeable. We bought fish and a tank from here about 4 years ago and when our circumstances changed we even returned the fish to a helpful staff member. It's also a great place to take kids to, a lot to look at.

Honestly, these guys are the experts you want to visit if you are into keeping fish. You will get the best service possible. They know what they are doing, they will guide you through the right way of fish keeping no matter if you are a beginner or into 10th years of the hobby.

I would say that this is the better one of the two locations they have in Auckland. They have a great selection of tanks (their instore ExoTerra ones are limited though - to be fair they cater more towards fish than reptiles). The place feels is clean and well maintained, and there's a good selection of of things for both marine and tropical tanks. They also on occasion sell things like reptiles and newts (I would recommend calling in first, as the selection varies through the year/breeding seasons). Their staff seem quite knowledgeable in this regard as well; they helped us when we were planning for our first Chinese Fire-Bellied newts. We usually like to drop in if we're passing by as there's lots of things to look at!

I'm more into my reptiles then the fish but whateva... This place has it all. Live food, canned food, freeze dried food and food dishes. Lights and cleaning equipment... Aquariums and tequeriums. Good friendly staff.

Probably the best place to visit if you are a fellow fishkeeper and after some professional advice. They have a huge variety of different tank equipment and are especially good if you are looking for a niche product, and they have a great range of cold water, tropical and marine live stock. I would give these guys 5/5 but unfortunately the staff aren't always that friendly and I feel like they try to sell me things that I don't need.

I have always received excellent service from the Hollywood Fish Farm. They are full of a wealth of knowledge regarding fish type, aquariums and how to care for them. I have found their customer service to be exceptional and they are always happy to answer my questions. A++ services and satisfaction.

Knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to help. Wasn't keen on how they kept their Betta fish, the males could see each other and therefore displayed signs of agression which can be stressful for them, but otherwise they had a great range of fish and products and the other tanks all looked very well kept.

Great for all fish enthusiasts

Have been there a few times before and its always great, but writing this because i was really really impressed with the service there yesterday. Went in with a million options in mind about what I could do with a 130L tank and the guy who was helping me was so patient as we went through the options of cichlids and discus and cold water and every other possibility, considering everything from the ornaments I currently have, the size of the full grown fish, compatibilities, budget, need to upgrade tank size later, etc etc. Settled on beautiful spotted puffer fish. Extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions as I ummed and ahhed and changed my mind. Really felt like I got the perfect fish for what I wanted. Thanks so much for all the help!

HFF Albany is awesome. As a tropical fish hobbyist they have exactly what I'm after every time. Lovely staff!! Even if you don't have fish, pop in to see the wicked cichlid tank they have. It's huge and full of fish.

Possibly the largest hobby aquarium supplier in New Zealand that you can ever find. A large portion of the shop is filled with all shapes and sizes of tanks. The range of fish species starts with the marine, cold, and tropical types, in increasing order. The staff are helpful but do spend time to check everything that you buy before you leave.

Hollywood fish farms are experts about the aquarium hobby. Unlike more generalist pet stores, you can be sure they can provide expert advice, and have their animal's best interests at heart. They quarantine all their fish before putting them on display, and their fish always appear to be in good health. They offer a wide range of fairly well-priced fish supplies, and the biggest variety of fish species you'll find in Auckland. It's one of the only locations in Auckland with a good range of marine stock and equipment. Both locations (Albany and Mt Roskill) are wheelchair accessible. A list of all the species and goods they can offer are available on their website. Online orders are made easy and afforable. Make sure you call in to confirm stock before attempting to buy listed livestock. Only downside to here is that their range of aquarium plants is often very lacking. Their main focus is certainly their fish.

1st visit...met a very handy employee named Rebecca! She knew everything...I bought a new Fluval canister filter, some fish, and plants. Rebecca answered all my questions with expertise and was so patient with my choices. She is an asset to your business and I would gladly shop there again...I came from up North, 2 hours away, but would gladly make the trip again just to see your fish and tanks! Probably the best retailer around specialising in this type of hobby. 2 outlets in Auckland, I have only visited the Nth Ak branch and found it to be very good in all aspects, from livestock right through to accessories. Only disappointment is that all the stock (99%) are very young or juvenile stock at best, adult specimens of fish are not available to be appreciated. Cichlids that are in a main display tank not for sale were an exception. Definately worth a visit.
