Reviews of Salsa Latina Dance Centre Christchurch

I had been hiring the studio for non-Latin dance practice since 2015. It is an excellent space for practice. It wasn't until three years after, that I finally had the courage to try something new and take Salsa classes from them.
The classes are fun and I love their structured style of teaching. The teachers are supportive, encouraging and will work with you towards your dance goals.
I highly recommend them whether you're looking for a fun casual fitness activity or into competitive dancing.

Great teachers, nice studio, very competitive pricing. It's a great place to start dancing and probably still the best place in Christchurch for learning Salsa or to get into performance. The fact that every lesson stands on its own and that you pay per lesson rather than per month makes it a good option for people who can't attend every week. The ability to video moves in many classes so that you can practice at home is also a plus. They have a good online presence with easy to understand fee and class structure and the online classes they ran through lockdown were stellar. So why not five stars? The teaching style is a bit impersonal with the teacher rarely if ever dancing with the students and feedback is now instead through a grading system. People who are slower learners might also be better off at a school that builds technique for a move over several classes. Generally highly recommended though.

Such a great welcoming dance studio, a fantastic place to meet new people, dance classes are fun and in no time you will have come along in your dancing. The studio also puts on great social events and social dancing alongside classes. Even if you have danced before or never even tried dancing go along and you'll see how good it is! Thanks Reuben/Robyn and all the other teachers.

I have learned from Reuben for approximately 15 years. Himself & the teaching team at Salsa Latina have always been kind, welcoming & make you feel at home. Level of teaching is great, always leave class feeling like you have accomplished what was taught & plenty of opportunity is given to practice what is being taught. A great variety of classes/styles are on offer. Can not recommend Salsa Latina enough. You are literally learning from one of the best ☺️

Been the best latin dance studio in Christchurch for many years, probably always will be. Take a free taster class, meet some new people! Brilliant skill if you plan to travel, the perfect ice breaker. Teaching fundamentals is really strong here, they'll serve you well.

Salsa Latina is fantastic!! Here are some of the reasons why I love my experience dancing here:
- The teachers are very experienced professional dancers. They are knowledgeable and passionate teachers who are also very welcoming, down-to-earth and kind and treat you as a friend :)
- The space is huge, and the class sizes are huge. Big class sizes means I can practice with many different people and expose myself to a larger amount of individual styles and way of moving. This is great because then I don’t end up “get used to” the motion of the same sort of people.
- Dance classes here are accomodating to the most beginner of beginners, all the way to very experienced dancers who already perform. So many dancing styles are taught in just one place, and in addition to partner dancing they have partnered and solo performance classes too.
- One of the best things about this class is that it is highly structured. Everything about this class seems purposeful and efficient, moves you learn build from the smaller warm up moves at the start of class. The class itself it split of into very defined chunks of learning and an even amount of time and instruction is given to follows and leads. The two teachers never talk over one another or try to teach at the same time. The pace feels perfect, not too fast and not too slow.
- Everyone here, student or teacher, is so lovely! You’ve got plenty of regulars here but also plenty of new faces all the time. It’s a great place to socialise, meet different people and make friends!
- For being located in the city centre, parking is plentiful and free.
- I enjoy the grading system from beginners to intermediate dance classes. It gives us more personalised and structured feedback on foundational aspects of the dance straight from the teachers themselves.
- Love that every month they hold dance parties in their studio. Every Friday they also host Latin dance nights at Casa Publica which are very popular here in Christchurch.
- The cutest little mini poodle frequents here and I love her 😍

Salsa Latina is a place where you can meet oneself, learn and have fun with Reuben, Milena, Robyn, Marcela and some other teachers, they always help us to grow and learn.
In my case, especially, I am more than grateful to Salsa Latina and Reuben because since I arrived in Christchurch I was treated very well by him even without knowing a word of English!
Thanks Reuben!

Always a very nice experience. Every time we visit Chch and go to Reuben's classes I learn something new. Good way of explaining each moves. I like his teaching technique. Recommend! Pablo (Nelsonson Dance and Entertainment)

Very friendly and experienced instructors! Great variety of classes. No partner required and just jump to any preferred classes. FREE First class to experience it on your own!

I started dancing at Salsa Latina a little over a year ago now. Before starting classes, I always wanted to learn partner dancing, after finding and trying to join in with a few socials overseas.
At Salsa Latina, you’re encouraged to go to social nights, which there are plenty of to practice and progress quicker and dancers are supported to compete if ready.
After one year I’ve found... an amazing group of friends, fun nights out, quick progression, better coordination and a love for learning competition routines.
Everyone should give dancing a go and this is a great place to start!

Definitely a top dance school in New Zealand. I really enjoy the classes and the technique taught here. All teachers are very skilled, patient and make you feel at ease. It's also a lot of fun. Definitely recommend whether you're a beginner or already addicted to dancing!!

When I first came to Salsa Latina I had no Latin dance experience at all, so it was a bit daunting. But they made me feel so relaxed, the environment is really friendly and the classes are fun but also really clear and very skilled. You learn so much each time, and its addictive! I do salsa and bachata classes and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something new and fun with some really great knowledgeable people.

Classes are well structured, focused on getting a good technique, and styling and cool moves as progressing. Positive atmosphere and cozy studio, lots of recurrent events, parties, workshops, teachers definitely involved and keeping you up to date with the charms of the dancing world! A great place where to sneak a peek to leave behind stress and worries and simply refresh :)

I consider my self very lucky to be part of Salsa Latina school. I started with them around 3 months ago and have absolutely loved learning Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba here. The teachers are very highly skilled and passionate for spreading their love for dancing among their students. I would highly recommend Salsa Latina.
