Reviews of Mr Dean Mistry - Spine Surgeon

Really happy with the speed at which everything happened regarding my microdiscectomy. I'd been experiencing sciatic pain for 3 years and once I got referred to Mr Mistry I was quickly sent for MRI and then booked in for surgery soon after.
Mr Mistry was great to put me at ease, explain the procedure and associated risks and I was fully trusting of the operation. He is respectful and was quick to put my concerns to rest. My follow-up appointment post-op was informative and I've been given full flexibility to return to normal at my own pace.
There was some slight miscommunication regarding my notes that should have been at the hospital, and I had to touch base regarding my follow-up when my notes should have been in my hospital pack, but aside from that I found the reception team to be friendly and super quick to answer any queries.
Stoked to be able to get back to a full recovery and hopefully live pain-free moving forward. Thank you!

I am very grateful for the skill and expertise of Dean Mistry, as I had a very successful L3/4 decompression, L4/5 decompression and a spinal fusion at 2 levels, which resolved the significant pain and disability that I had been enduring for a number of years, which was getting worse. I had thought of leaving the operation for a few months, as the timing wasn't great for me both personally and professionally, but I am thankful for Dean's insistence that surgery with some urgency was necessary.
So good was the outcome of the operation and the recommended post operative physio and rehab work that just 7½ months later I was representing NZ in Manchester at the UCI Age Group World Championships on the cycling track. This was in the Individual Pursuit - requiring a riding position that tests a cyclist's back stability at the best of times, finishing 8th out of 22 entrants in the event.
Since the operation I have enjoyed great flexibility, improved strength and none of the back pain that was there constantly before the surgery. Thank you Dean for your caring expertise.

I was fortunate to be referred to Mr Mistry who has been amazing and I can't speak highly enough of him.
He has been thorough and always made sure that I understood all options and risks and treated me with respect and dignity.
I have always found his staff to be friendly and helpful and have appreciated the speed at which they have responded to me.
It's been 3 months since my C2-C6 Spinal fusion and C4/5 Laminectomy surgery and I am so grateful for the difference this has made to my life.
I highly recommend him, he is an excellent surgeon.
