It took a while for our son to find an instructor that he could relate to. Kevin was that person and we are forever grateful. Our daughters have just finished lessons with Tony and Vidya and passed their restricted tests first time! The instructors were always on time and happy to change venues. Feedback was constructive and praise given too. Thank you.

Before my restricted driving test, I was quite nervous and anxious. But once I met Ravi and took a few lessons with him, I felt very comfortable and confident. Ravi was very professional in his teaching. I would like to thank Ravi and A1 driving school for the help and support they provided me.

I finished my first lesson with Ravi yesterday, and it was exactly what I needed. I haven’t practiced driving in years, so my anxiety was really getting to me. But once I met Ravi, I felt comfortable, and experienced no anxiety whatsoever. He was clear with his instructions, patient with my progress and really easy going the whole time. I’m grateful to him and A1 driving for a great beginner experience! I can’t wait for future lessons with him.

A1 is affordable and the tutors are able to drive to your house to start your lessons which is a bonus. Can’t recommend Harald as a driving instructor enough, he was super patience and a very knowledgeable teacher and very calm to drive with. Great for anyone who gets a little anxious when driving.

Best driving school in Auckland! There aren't many manual instructors in NZ, but A1 Driving School has 2 of them! Ned is a brilliant instructor. I was a bit anxious about driving but right from the beginning he made me feel at ease. He's very patient and was always early to give me as much time as possible during the lesson, and he supported me through my test, which I passed about 2 months after starting lessons with him.

My wife took lessons here from the beginning when she knew nothing about driving. And today she passed her restricted test for the first time! We can't thank enough Caroline, Tony, and especially Vidya who was very calm and excellent in his teaching methods. Thank you so much A1 team!!!

I took lessons from James and passed my full license practical test on March 24th, 2022 @ Glen Innes. Kudos to James. He is fantastic and teaches the details with so much ease and composure. Taught me how not to be nervous and made me feel extremely comfortable. Never seen such a wonderful instructor in my life. So energetic, lot of perfection at the same time. I had multiple lessons with Vidya Nand whilst on my learners and his expertise and extensive knowledge of driving helped me pass my restricted test first time with no errors. His welcoming and calm attitude makes it a very easy environment to learn how to drive. Vidya makes sure the basics of driving are very strong whilst also demonstrating how to effectively perform specific skills such as parallel parking. I highly recommend Vidya Nand if you are looking to learn how to drive well and pass your driving tests.

Rick has been such a patient and supportive driving instructor throughout my journey from not knowing how to use a steering wheel to driving safely on the road. Because of Rick’s effort I was able to pass my restricted test with flying colours on my first attempt today. Rick is very encouraging and has helped me rebuild confidence in myself. Rick has been very thorough with his explanations and makes things easy to understand. I have enjoyed every single lesson with Rick. Thank you so much Rick and A1 Driving school! Tony Best was an amazing instructor. I passed my restricted first time thanks to his help. He was calm, patient and had perfect communication throughout our lessons. He was never flustered and made me feel totally at ease. Couldn’t recommended using Tony more. Great guy and great instructor.

I took my 5 hrs session with Neil and I passed my restricted exam on the first take. He was highly recommended as he is very professional and guided me throughout my driving lessons very well. He made everything clear and easy.

Rajen has been the best instructor I’ve had, I wish I met him before. He is genuinely preparing me for the restricted test, giving me awesome tips and providing the necessary calm, patience and respect a learner needs. I tried several driving schools in Auckland before choosing A1 - from big to small companies - and had really bad experiences (some of the instructors aggressively yelled at me and another consistently asked me for a date). Based on my experience, I can only recommend A1 and to be very careful with those unprofessional instructors out there.

My Driver was James I booked some lessons to pass Restricted license. I failed my first test so i wanted to make sure to get it right this time. James was so helpful and friendly and is very patient and has good advice. If you made a mistake he would correct you where you went wrong in nice manner. Today I Sat My Restricted and PASSED! Thank you James for all your help couldn't of done it without you. I'm definitely booking you to Prepare for my Full License.

I was referred to Vidya Nand from a friend and can't thank that person and Vidya enough. Vidya gave driving lessons to our son and he found Vidya to be very patient but thorough, in teaching good basics and lifelong skills to be a good driver. We met with Vidya at each time and he always had time to go over how every lesson went. Our son passed the practical test first time, so that was a credit to Vidya. I would have no hesitation in recommending Vidya to any person wanting to gain their drivers licence. Thanks Vidya you are star!

My partner and I see Rick for our driving lessons. I've been to several driving schools but none of the instructors whom I had was as calm as him. He never raised his voice even though we made several mistakes on the road. Rick has helped us tremendously to acquire the courage to drive again. He is fantastic and what he does is really life-changing!

Kevin was an excellent instructor. He is very patient and encouraging. He know the testing route very well and gives me very useful tips and advice. He points out all the errors that I made and coached me. Rick was also an excellent instructor. He is very punctual, and make me feel very safe when driving with him. I would strongly recommend test takers, including those who have been driving, to book lesson(s) with A1 instructor, at least one before the test.

Vindya Nand was my instructor, I took a mock test with him before my test the following week. He provided excellent feedback and tips/pointers to increase my chances of passing my restricted. Mock test was carried out in a friendly and professional manner. Passed my real test and would highly recommend Vindya and A1 Driving school!!! Don't bother with other driving schools/instructors, A1 Driving are the real deal. Thanks Vindya, amazing service, very happy customer :)

Today's lesson with the driving instructor Tony Best was great! I learnt more about driving in just one hour. I can't wait to go driving around roundabouts and in circle the same way with my Dad.

Tony Best took my son for driving lessons. He was always punctual and had a wonderfully calm manner. He was extremely patient and thorough. Watching my son changing from being anxious to confident in a car was due to Tony's skill. He passed his restricted license on his first try. Thank you Tony for your superb teaching skills. Rajen was an amazing driving instructor! Great instructor and lesson! Took a refresher course since I was used to driving on the right side of the road, and my instructor took the time to make sure I understood all the changes and minor differences between the two. He was very patient as well. Highly recommend!

I took a lesson with Gerry Versteeg, and it was everything I'd hoped for in a lesson. He was great at explaining things and understood the process of learning and teaching well. The lesson was also very flexible and got me to where I wanted to be very quickly. Off of my experience with him and the booking or payment process I would highly recommend the A1 driving school.

Caroline was AMAZING!! So patient, clear and kind. I was super nervous when I fist got in the car - I'm 30 and couldn't even ride a go-kart - so there was a long way to go, but I got there in the end and passed my test first time! Thank you Caroline, I feel very lucky I had such a great instructor.

Lynda Barret was My Instructor and she was very nice and patient. In my first 1 hour lesson with her she taught me how to reverse parallel park, reverse out of a parking spot and do a three point turn. I will be taking a second lesson next week. The only thing I wasn't impressed about was how she keeps the break pedal down constantly, I would like to use the break pedal so that I can get used to it. I learnt allot more in my 1hour lesson then I did in my 4 lessons with my previous instructor.

Recently had lessons with Barry Gosper as part of preparation for my restricted test. I was really nervous about sitting the test, in part because I was going to be taking it in a manual car, but after only a few lessons with Barry I felt way more confident in my driving abilities and passed my restricted with flying colours. Barry was friendly and quickly put me at ease, making the lessons we had relaxed and enjoyable. He was quick to point out mistakes and suggest changes I could make to my driving habits to ensure I would have the best chance of passing. I would definitely recommend Barry as an instructor if you are driving a manual car and I will be contacting A1 again when it comes to prepare for my full licence. Thank you!

The AA is a waste of time. This school is where you want to be. I was recommended to be taught by Rick. He is a phenomenal and a patient teacher. He strives for you to be perfect on the road that no AA teacher will do. He pushes you to the limit; out of your comfort zone. He teaches beyond the scope by introducing some aspects of defensive driving. No matter how much I stuff up, he somehow still stays calm whilst smiling. Thank you Rick for helping get my restricted.

Harald was excellent, even through two COVID lockdowns - had to reschedule twice! He was very thorough with the material, and was pretty much a text book example of a defensive driving course. Very clear with his explanations and expectations. During the practical session, Carmelle was also very clear of the expectations and what to do etc. Very easy and clear communication with the A1 team, Harald communicated rescheduling very quick through two lockdowns. I passed my restricted licence this week and it's all thanks to my wonderful long time instructor Mr Barry Gosper. At nearly 30 years old I was a complete beginner when I first started my weekly lessons with Barry with a manual car, and I must say I was so relieved at my very first lesson as Barry made me feel very at ease and didn't make me feel pressured at all. He has always been very calm, very professional and always supportive. His sense of humour has helped me relax and enjoyed our little chats. I will always remember his advice and will always endeavour to be a safe driver, and I'm so pleased to have that freedom now to drive all by myself! I honestly cannot recommend Barry enough. I had booked 5 sessions with Rick Sheriff and it was all worth it. I passed my full license practical exam in 1 go. It was funny how nervous I was and how my hands started sweating. All I remembered at that time were rick's magic phrase "take a deep breath and drive with confidence" and everything follows. I will definitely recommend A1 Driving School to anyone.

The Street talk defensive driving course I attended was very efficient, it showed me some good tips on how to be a safer driver on the roads. Also how to overcome, prevent and identify hazards while driving. All in all I enjoyed the course and would recommend others to give it a try.

My instructor was Christo and had 5 lessons. First lesson with him he'll go over the theory covering the major critical, immediate errors that most learners stumble over and then show you the NZTA website for more in depth requirements for the test (this was very helpful). The next 4 lessons were all driving. He was knowledgeable, had good techniques and pointers (for parallel parking etc), patient and made you feel comfortable and confident in driving. Recommend for learners aiming for their restricters test!
