Most of the things learnt were just common sense but they were a refresher to the mind. We were reminded of safe driving which we all first learnt when we took the wheel for the first time. When I drive now I am now more conscious in processing hazards.

The course is a fantastic way to gain knowledge, confidence and safety on the road. The course is very well set out and easy to understand. The instructor was very friendly and really opened my eyes to the way I drive. It has certainly made me more aware of the road conditions and drivers and overall I believe I am a much safer driver now after attending this course. I would certainly recommend this to anyone.

The Defensive Driver's course was great. It was straight forward and presented in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. Our instructor was clear and concise, getting us to think for ourselves and use our common sense when evaluating the road conditions. When I took the test I felt calm and relaxed and was able to gain a number of useful tips that will aid me in my future driving. The knowledge I gained from the course has most definitely had a beneficial impact on my driving awareness and I feel well and truly prepared for my Full Licence Practical Test.

The course was so amazing and I have noticed the change in my driving. It was such a positive, insightful experience and I have recommended it to all of my friends and family who are getting their learner and restricted licenses. My instructor was so good and he was very helpful in both the theory and practical sessions.

I attended the defensive driving course. The eDrive homework is definitely beneficial to you as a driver, super easy to navigate, and will help you to identify risks and hazards. The tutor you have will greatly affect how much you enjoy the course, so try to go to a class that you have heard has a good tutor. It is good to have had a fair bit of driving experience before taking the course to be able to participate in the discussions. I would especially recommend this course to people who already hold their restricted license and are aiming to get their full license. Overall it was a worthwhile experience!

This was a really good experience for me. AA has provided a excellent course, where we can reduce time in getting our full licence test, while simultaneously getting to know more in depth about the hazards around the road, and information we probably we have never paid more attention to if it were not for the course. The instructor Tony was good,he knew what he was doing, and he simulated my interest in the course. I'm now a more confident driver now after from the course. Thanks for the experience AA! The instructor was really friendly and made the whole course very enjoyable. It made me really think about the way that I drive on the road and how this could affect others. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is planning on sitting their full license test.

It was a very good course. I learned a lot about my personal driving style and that of others so I understand them better. I also learned how to manage and avoid risks and hazards while driving. My instructor was very friendly and helpful, he made the course interesting and fun.

The defensive driving course was definitely a worth-while experience and i would highly recommend it to everyone. Not only you learn to drive safely but also be responsible for your actions and how to mitigate to a road risk. You also brush up on your road rules and learn to look out for hazards. I was so glad I did this course, so everyone should do it!!!!!

I found the Defensive Driving Course very intuitive and helpful. It not only lessens the amount of time you have to wait to be eligible to sit the full licence test, but it also helps you to become a more aware and safer driver. Additionally, the 60 minute drive helped me understand which areas I need to focus on in order to (hopefully) successfully sit the full license test and subsequently improve my personal driving style even more.

I really liked the Course and would totally recommend it to anyone who is preparing for their full license. The Instructor was very educational and fun and I found both the classroom and in-car sessions helped me become a safer driver. Thanks a lot! It was great!

I would recommend this to anyone, not just to get the 6 months of your restricted(or other reasons) It truly help to make you become a better, responsible and confident driver. You learn about the risks and hazards and what to look for while driving. The tutors are lovely and are great teachers. You meet a whole lot of new people. Great course.

I highly recommend this course to any and all drives. It teaches valuable skills and helps increase personal awareness about the driving environment and what are the most important things to look out for when you are behind the wheel. It helped me pick a few errors in my driving style and helped me correct them. We are the drivers of tomorrow, lets make the roads a safer place.

Just passed my restricted license! just had a few lessons with Raj and he is very patient and calm and extremely encouraging. He taught me very useful skills. AA driving school is good and I got 3 free lessons, which was great. Thank you very much again! and looking forward to full license.

I am so glad I attended my DDC last month...I've definitely come out of it a more confident and better driver. The course itself was filled with lots of useful information that I now use on a daily basis. My course tutor made the lessons fun and entertaining! This course is definitely worth taking, and I highly recommend it!

Certainly helps one become a safe driver. Its totally worth the time and money spent. I am sure there is something for everyone in the course. The eDrive online course has some good ways to test your skills & awareness. Its 4 days of 2 hours sessions, followed by a 1 hour in-car session. Overall, at the end of this course, I have definitely become a safer driver!

It was a really good course. It teaches you about managing hazards while driving, learning the road rules, and about crash statistics and what are the main contributors to these. It is a useful course and would definitely recommend to Learner Licence holders, Restricted or even Full licences drivers.

It's a really worthwhile course for the price and, regardless of driving experience or licence stage, everyone should take it. It has improved my confidence as a driver, as well as my awareness of other road users, risks, and hazards. My course instructor, Tulsi, was friendly, patient, and approachable and made the classes very enjoyable.

I attended this course between 1-10 September. I think this course had great content to it, and I felt like I learned about myself as a driver as well as other drivers. I would highly recommend this course to anyone, on any level of license, as I think it will make pretty much anyone a better driver in some way. I also think that the eDrive was extremely helpful as I am yet to receive my restricted license, and I believe it has better prepared me for my test.

This was a great interactive course and was a good reminder of all the responsibility we have as drivers. We all had a good laugh along with the lessons and were able to take off six months to be able to sit our full licence earlier. I think it is a very well set up course and enjoyed having a smaller group. Found it actually helped to remind me of all the things I had forgotten since my learners nearly 3 years ago. I defiantly think that everyone should have to do thins including adults that have had there licence for years already as it is a great reminder. Thanks :)

I loved the course. I learnt alot I am glad I had the chance to do this course. I would so recommend to all whether you are an experienced or inexperienced driver this is a well worth doing course. Go for it if need be. You will learn so much more about yourself as a driver and others on the road. Don't hold back now get on it today :)

This course really helped me to become a better driver. It taught me heaps about identifying and avoiding hazards and risky situations as well as what I should and shouldn't do while driving, some of which actually came as a surprise to me. Would definitely recommend taking this course.

If you are genuinely wanting to improve your driving and to be safer on the roads, you will enjoy this course. If you're only doing it to get time off for your full license or any other reasons, don't expect to enjoy it because if you're in the latter group, you probably think that you know everything there is to know already. The point of this course is to show you that you are a flawed driver, and you're not invincible. It will teach you what to focus on while driving, anticipate and be prepared for anything that could possibly happen. It will leave you feeling more confident and more responsible for how you act on the road.

Defensive driving course review: It was alright, but I thought there would be more practical and hands on teaching, as the 1 in-car session included was not enough time in my opinion. It was all theory based, and I was expecting to be learning physical driving skills. I also think the price of the course was a bit steep, considering all the information taught was from a workbook and basically common sense. Also easily sourced online, and not necessary to have a physical tutor for. The only good part of the course were the eDrive sessions, as I could learn in my own time and access it from anywhere. If the whole course was held online I think everyone would benefit, as it would be more convenient and cheaper for students as well as the tutor.

I recommend this course to anyone wanting to become a better and safer driver. You leave the course feeling like a really responsible driver, and you become so much more aware of dangers while driving and how to avoid these. I definitely recommend this course as its putting safe drivers onto our roads.

The course is really helpful. It helps me to get a better sense of safe driving. I learnt some good skills of scanning and searching when driving and this has made my driving safer and more confident. I can also attend my full test sooner which is great.

Fantastic short course that taught me a lot on risk awareness and general road etiquette. I've noticeably became a lot more confident on the road. This is perfect for people that wants to brush up on their skills right before the big test:)

Great course. Overall an easy and informative way to learn about being a better driver. A lot of simple and obvious scenarios we tend to forget about - so it was an interesting experience. Went to the Mt Roskill Defensive Driving Course. Tom Williams was our tutor. Laid back and enthusiastic tutor who was always positive and provided many great real-life examples to help improve our driving.

Would recommend doing the course. The sections on identifying hazards and mitigating them were really helpful, and the tutor's feedback invaluable. Not just the actual feedback about road rules but stuff like "don't treat it as a test, do exactly what you'd normally do". Thanks to the lessons learned and the feedback I got, I passed the full license test first go. The testing officer even commented "hazard detection and response was perfect".

DDC is a great way to gain knowledge, learn skills to be safer and BE more aware on the road. I had so much fun and learnt a lot. I would recommend to all and think it would best help restricted license holders wanting to be confident in their abilities and prepared when taking their full license test and those on their learners license to gain the confidence required to be a safe drivers. but some one with there full could still learn a thing or too .

AA Driving school Westgate -I definately enjoyed the Defensive driving course. The tools I needed to be a responsible and better driver. The course Tutor Mrs Patel made it enjoyable. She's done an awesome job teaching the twenty students who come from all walks of life and different ages as well. Highly recommend to driver's with full licence. I have no hesitation in recommending the DDC course to everyone that drives. When my children reach the driving age, i will get them on board to do the this course. Money well spent:)

This experience was very enlightening and i would highly recommend it for everyone. the staff are reliable friendly and make you feel calm and right at home and the content is eye-opening. You really do notice more about yourself as a driver and other drivers on the road around you after doing this course. the modules are easy going but informative and allow interaction with the people around you.

I did the Defensive Driving course at the Westgate branch. It was a great experience where i learnt about identifying and handling hazards, risks, crashes, personal driving style and just general knowledge about the road code. It was a fun but educational experience where i made lots of new friends and learnt how to be a safer driver. It will definitely help me pass my restricted test as well as giving me life long skills which i can use in everyday driving.

An absolute must do when preparing for your full license test. Instructors were friendly and easy to communicate with, making the whole experience that much better. Learn't plenty about driving safely on New Zealand's roads through the use of the contemporary and relevant e-drive program. Definitely recommend the course to anyone considering it.

This defensive driving course was a great way to become a safer and more confident driver, and to learn new techniques to improve the way I drive. I would reccomend people to do it because is a worthwhile course to complete in order to improve your driving skills and become a better driver. The teacher I had, Shefali, was great at teaching this course, would reccomend!

It was actually a lot more interesting and helpful than I expected it would be. Having an entertaining tutor makes all the difference - it allows you to engage in the topics and learn about relevant information that wasn't in the course booklet. I am now aware of my weaknesses as a driver, and know how to on this so I can be a safer driver on the road.

The defensive driving course, was an interesting experience which helped me improve my driving. This was done by providing me with an understanding of myself as a driver. Furthermore, the course was relaxed and enjoyable and I had a good instructor.

I learn lots of new things about driving eg hazards and risk on the road while you are driving. My tutor Tom Williams is a great tutor and friendly man. I would recommend everyone to have him as their tutor. He have alot of experience about driving. I will tell all my friends to do this course because its really helpful and make your driving more safer and accurate. I am going to get my partner to do this course. Also it teaches you how safe your driving and how can you improve your driving skills.

I couldn't have had a better experience with AA driving lessons and in particular with my coach Raj. I was nervous and new to driving and Raj was not only a great teacher with good knowledge, but he was calm and patient at all times. I just passed my restricted test with flying colours and couldn't be happier. I would recommend Raj to any driver!

This course is a really good way of becoming a safer driver! Although it may get a bit boring at times, you learn a lot about how identifying hazards and how to avoid crashes and things like that and overall helps you drive safer. definitely recommend!

I completed the DDC at the Mt Roskill branch with Tom. He was a great instructor both in the drive and in the class, laid back and relaxed. The DDC made me more aware of the environment that I drive in, and got me thinking about risks both inside and outside the car that could affect my driving. I attended the Defensive Driving held at AA Westgate at the start of the month. I feel that it was really useful and improved my awareness while driving, both of myself and others. Hi there, booking for first lesson took time as the website didn't work. So I just called in. The first lesson was informative, enlightening and pretty fun actually. My instructor Steven was great, very professional and funny. Haven't booked my second lesson yet as my dad is helping me in driving at home. It would be nice to get Steven again for my second lesson Selina :)

The course was something that helped me gain more knowledge of while driving. something that i probably wouldn't pick up myself on a normal day. There was many skills that we could gain and understand which the course did it all for us . Definitely recommend it

That it is well worth going to as you learn new skills and become aware of how hazards can effect the outcome of your driving. You also learn about focusing on the road and how to identify problems before they become serious and it also makes you aware of the way you drive and the tips and tricks to becoming more aware and responsible driver.

I will 100% recommend this to my friends. I did this to shorten the time off my full license, thinking it would just be a money thing. This course has really surprised me and made me think twice about my own driving, and has moved me to really change my driving style! It has also given me confidence about my full license test which I would have otherwise been nervous about.

The driving course definitely improve my driving skill. It teaches you not just how to control the car, it teaches you the "mind work", to observe and thing behind the wheel, how to drive on the road is more important than just drive the car. Dangerous always come with interacting with others.

I took the defensive driving course before I sat my restricted licence. I think it's made me a more aware and safe driver, and I managed to pass my restricted test! It is also great that it reduces the restricted licence time, however it is quite expensive.

The course was very in depth and very interesting. The instructor went at a very good fast rate, she was very easy to drive with and made me feel calm. Many skills that I learnt from her, it was great. I truly recommend it

The experience of DDC has made me more alert when in my car as a passenger and I use my learning while my husband is driving. I believe to make roads safer this should be made compulsory. As now I see many risks to which I hadn't seen before. Where do I sit with this driving course on a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate it a 11. I am so pleased I took up the challenge to become a safer driver.

Awesome thing to do!! Everyone should def make the effort to sign up if they don't have a very good supervisor when first learning to drive. I am a much better driver for taking the course, and feel more confident about hazards and other drivers. :)

I have just completed my Defensive Driving course in the Howick centre. My tutor was extremely engaging and really commanded the class in a positive manner. The course was helpful and has improved my risk assessment and has made me aware of the type of driver I am.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and as the classes were in the evening it was very convenient to fit them around work. I think that I am now both a better and safer driver and I feel a lot more confident booking my full license test

Very informative class with tips and knowledge that you really should be aware of when driving. One of the most important things I learnt was the 2,4, and 12 second rule and how it increases you awareness and safety on the road. Highly recommend it!

I attended the DDC at Westgate and I found it incredibly informative. It will definitely help me on the way to becoming a better and safer driver. The in car session was also very helpful as you gain practical experience with everything you have learnt during the course.

Doing a defensive driving course is beneficial as practice for the full test, however it dose leave a lot to be desired. The eDrive website is very good however. All in all, do this course, if only for the 6 mouths off the Restricted licence wait time.

Really helpful. The eDrive homework was really good! ( It helped me notice what I wasn't doing normally, what kind of hazards I normally miss.) The practical in car session is great, I personally needed an instructor to identify my bad habits as I normally don't know the small things that I do incorrectly.) I feel more confident while driving and I have learnt to look further ahead and not be so anxious of my surrounding while driving. Search Scan and Assess.

AA Defensive Driving course was awesome and I learnt a lot , enjoyed the theory classes and practical course. This course has made me more cautious,safe and more focused when driving on the road. Theres a lot of aspects in the course that are not covered in the road code or things that you can pick up by routinely driving. Thus good reasons to recommend to friends and family, that the DDC is a good idea to increase your skills at being a safer and better driver. Kaori instructor Howard was friendly and easy going in the practical lesson.

I found the course surprisingly helpful. I had a really good instructor and the in car session was useful for passing the full licence test. Would recommend to anyone trying to pass restricted or full tests.

This was a really good experience for me because I learnt more about my driving style and skills that I didn't realise I had. Not only has this course provided me with more knowledge on road hazards, but it has also provided the convenience of getting my full Licence faster by 6 months which will make it easier for my family and I. Great course, learn alot in a short amount of time! Shefali Patel from westgate was a very knowledgeable instructor who had firsthand experience and communicated well. The class was social and not stressful. Good learning environment created where students could take on board lots of information. I found the edrive homework very helpful for my driving.

It's an amaxing course. Has helped me understand how to get rid of driving fears and has changed me overall as a person too. Tom Williams is an excellent tutor. I think I learnt alot and now am a more aware driver. I did my course at westage with Shefali. I think she was very entertaining but still got the imprtant information across. I would have liked to learn about how to control my car (or any other car) in a skid/slip situation and also about how to control the car in snowy conditions. I think the course could really benefit from addition of this content, even if its only taught in theory and not in the practical session.

Fortunate to have attended the driving lesson with my instructor Jai Nair before my practical test. Jai gave me in-depth and constructive feedback which helped me clear the test. Very useful and informative session - worth the money spent and I recommend each one should do this atleast once before attending the test. Cheers Jai and thanks AA.

I did my defensive driving course as the Westgate branch. Shefali Patel was the instructor. I learnt a lot from the course and found Shefali to be a very knowledgeable and approachable instructor. The class was very social and allowed group discussion which helped with our learning. The course exceeded my expectations and I was very engaged. I would recommend the course.

Both our children have completed the DDC in Howick which was great preparation for their Full Licence Tests. It increased their confidence and gave them pointers, particularly with Hazard Detection. We were very pleased that they both passed their Full Licence on their first attempt. Would definitely recommend this course for other students.

It is highly recommended to anyone young and old, regardless whether you have been driving for many years or just got your license, or learning to drive. I have learnt & understood a lot than just driving with a license & things you get out off are Risks & Hazards, Environment Awareness, Always have an escape route (which I didn't know b4), Search & Scan. The DDC is fun & interactive especially the edrive :) & also with people in the course who shared their experience & views. Shefali Patel has an ideal temperament & personality (calm, cool & collected) suited for a tutor & instructor :)

I recently went to the DDC classes held at Westgate which Shefali taught earlier in the month. I highly recommend doing the classes as they not only cut time off your license, but they also help you in day to day driving. I personally feel like my driving is now safer and I now have my full license 6 months early! Shefali makes the classes/practical way more fun she knows how to have a laugh! I recommend Shefali as a teacher for your DDC :) Do the course!

I found my defensive driving course to be a good way to be more aware about the road around me. I’m sure that it has made me a safer driver, and I would very much encourage others to give it a go, no matter how many months or years you’ve been driving!

The Defensive Driving Course in Albany was a great learning experience. Our tutor Robert was engaging and the group discussions helped me apply the ideas we learned in class to different road scenarios.

The Defensive Driving Course was great. Much more comprehensive than expected. Learned heaps. Great value for money and the online portion of the training is fantastic and full interactive.

I had two driving lessons with Raj after holding my restricted licence for 14 years. He gave me great guidance about what to work towards for my full licence. I subsequently passed first time.

Recently completely the DDC out at Westgate with Shefali as the class instructor. As others have mentioned the level to which you enjoy this course greatly depends on the tutor and their ability to connect with students. Shefali did this well and was able to bring real life scenarios to the course and give real perspectives on what seems rather common sense information. If you're looking to fast track your license or out to get an exemption don't forget this also works to make you a safer driver :)

Defensive Course is sort of useful. But the tutor just try to rush through the answer. No one really pays much attention cos I guess everyone just wants to go home. Got some good stuff though if a person is keen for learning to be a safer driver

I had a good experience doing the DDC. I have learnt the importance of being focused while driving, and have also gained knowledge in many other aspects. Practical lesson was great in terms of preparing for my full license test, the theory lessons were okay but in my opinion they were filled with common sense which was just repeated over and over again.

DDC Definitely a must-do. Not only does it cut 6 months off your waiting time between restricted and full, it also opens up your mind to so many more situations on the road, as well as bring to light things we already knew but never thought much of. Took the DDC. Initially I just went in to knock 6 months off the Restricted. I completed the course and then subsequently passed my Full test. I was sceptical at first but the course taught me a lot more than I thought it would.The DDC made me a better and more aware driver, who is able to interpret and respond to hazards on the road. Money and time well spent.

As a competent defensive driver, this course fleshed out all the concepts to make it clear and easy to understand. The instructor is knowledgeable and the practical session at the end makes for great value for money!

I found this course was very good as it meant I made a conscious decision to focus on my driving. With now knowing more about various hazards and consequences I found I am a safer driver and more aware of my surroundings when driving.

I had an amazing experience and learnt a lot about how I personally as a driver can do things better to be safer while driving. I would recommend this class and believe that it will really help you a lot.

It is a very useful course that helped me to prepare for my full driver's licence test. I feel much more confident now that I have completed this course.

I had a great time and I learnt loads about the road and how we should treat others on it. I learnt about the dangers and the consequences that follow if we are not careful. I also learnt that no matter how good we think we are on the road there will always be something wrong with our driving so there is always something to learn.

Have used my three free lessons (thanks AA) onto paid lessons now. My instructor Greg is awesome, he's so calm and patient! Great service.

Definately do it. I can not imagine going for my full without having done this test. I learnt a lot and definately became more aware in my driving. I cut down a lot of my distractions and i find it so much easier to drive now because of this test because I am not worrying about a million things anymore.

The course instructor I had was great and made the class interesting and not boring at all. You do learn some things that you don't know you should be doing so it's great.

I had driving lessons and Defensive Driving course with them and it helped me a lot. The online voucher is really convenient as you don't need to take moneys around and you can use credit card!

I learned a lot about how to mitigate my driving styles when they become unhelpful. The only thing that irritated (but in the greater scheme of things, is understandable) is that the instructor treated us like stupid teenagers. I guess being out of high school for 8 years, I had forgotten what that felt like.

I took the defensive driving course at the Quay St AA. The lessons were kind of slow, but overall, I learned to be a more aware driver and I believe I am a lot safer now.

I thought the defensvie driving course is worth doing, it makes you more aware of the driving enviroment and also helps you to notice possible risks. The homework wasnt too full on, as it was just answering a few questions in the book and also completing an online task. :)

I attended the course as required for the police recruiting process. The course was really good and I learnt a lot about the road rules and hazards. I feel more confidence now and I will introduce it to my friends.

Apart from not completing all of my homework for the course I really enjoyed it, It should be made compulsory, the content has taught me a few things that I will definitely consider when driving.

Doesn't matter if you are on your restricted or full license, the course can make u become a more confident driver by making sure you understand the driving environment including risk and hazards involved.

Personally, I felt a lot of this was just common sense. the edrive homework was riddiculous if you got it too quickly it would restart the question etc. The most beneficial part is the driving with the instructor

Great boost to confidence, and the practical driving was really helpful, but there was too much material to cover in the alloted time.

It is worth doing in order to reduce time on your Restricted License and learn about what it takes to pass the test.

It's actually really good and it makes you aware of what you do on the road and if it's unsafe as you see it happening on the video clips and you realise just how unsafe it is by some of the consequence mentioned in class.

I am going to really recommend this course, it far exceeded my expectations. I learnt a lot more than I thought I would, it has actually made me think about my driving while I am driving, and Tom the instructor was fantastic- a really nice guy and went at the perfect speed. I know everybody liked him a lot.
