The Beach Series is an awesome way to enjoy the summer evenings. It's a great place to meet new people and it's a really fun family sporting event too. You can get fit while having fun and it's great there are three different sports to choose from. We have entered the paddle boarding event for the last three seasons. You can be as competitive as you want but ultimately I'm happy to be out in the fresh air having fun with my family. It's a great social night out, we have met some lovely people . We do Takapuna and Orewa events now, both are run very well by a fun and friendly team of people, we highly recommend the Beach Series.

Have just started doing the beach series this season and overall i have really enjoyed it. Some days we have to move further down the beach because of the water quality (obviously not beach series fault) and some people can be a bit over competitive and tug and hit while you're swimming next to them. Also timing can be pretty inaccurate e.g. I finished about 20-30 seconds in front of third place last week and on the results page it put 3rd place 2 seconds behind me. But thats about it for the bad stuff there are really friendly staff who are helpful and always make you feel welcome and it also has a really nice environment. 4/5 stars

Good gravy - where do I even begin with the Beach Series??!
There are probably only a handful of events in all of New Zealand where I see families come together and have so much fun in a safe, friendly environment!
I have personally seen kids go from timid and shy at the start of the season, to confident young athletes by the time summer is over. You just can't get that many places anymore.
Sure, maybe I am a little biased, but you could ask anyone of the families that come along and they would tell you the same thing!!!
PS - That guy on the mic is INCREDIBLY handsome, probably deserves a massive pay rise ;-)

This is such a great event - all the family get to take part and can properly compete but it retains a genuine and friendly atmosphere. The coast run is a unique opportunity to get your feet wet and do a different type of running on a Tuesday night - highly recommend giving it a go.

There are not enough superlatives... we first signed up to give my girl some sea/beach water confidence as even the sound of waves used to scare her... not only have we achieved that and more, however friendships and support from the wider swimming community have encouraged my girl to swim further each year and try out ocean swimming around NZ. Thank you to Beach Series team for putting on a great platform to start small and finish great. Thank you Seira Lepua

This was a well run event last year, but I am concerned to learn that it will not be using surf lifesaving club members during this year's event so not sure how safe it will be.
