No wonder why this market has consistently been voted as the best farmers market in the country. Top quality produce, smiling vendors, buzzing vibes and delicious offerings. If you are not a citizen of Dunedin then this place is a must visit site on Saturday morning at the beautiful railway station. One stop shopping for Xmas from this award winning farmer's market. As usual, loved the fresh produce on offer including stone fruit from central Otago, organic broccoli and potatoes from Oamaru and herbs, lettuce and salad greens from Mosgiel. Add meat and seafood offerings and you are sussed for a Xmas feast. Also loved the coffee, dumplings, baking and cheese and not to forget milk and butter from holy cow. Love our Saturday mornings, thanks to Otago farmer's market.

Otago Farmers Market in Dunedin Visited on 2/2/2019 It must be our lucky day that we arrive on the Saturday, because the Otago Farmers Market only open on Saturday. When not used for market, the space is available for carparking for the public and Dunedin train patrons, The Market is very popular in Dunedin, with vendors selling local meats, produce, artisanal goods & snacks. I have a sudden urge for hot pie, so I hunt down the store that sells it. My wife is contented with her caffeine shot!

Would love to be able to come here every Saturday. Lots of fresh veggies, coffee with option to use mug instead of.take away cup, savoury pancakes, buddha bowls, pastries, bread, plant based products etc. Happy morning atmosphere.

By shopping at the Farmers Market you support local farmers and get fresh, seasonal produce and also enjoy the vibe of being amongst like minded, happy shoppers. During non-covid times one can enjoy a range of foods on site but during these times these have to be eaten off site. During non-covid times the market kitchen chefs demonstrate how to get creative with the fabulous produce that is for sale by vendors. In all, I along with so many other people, love the Otago Farmers Market.

Tried dumplings, bacon butties and Allpress coffee. Many fresh produce stores, no arts and crafts tho. You can also find fresh seafood here! And beautiful flowers.

Another good/ Saturday outing. Good prices for the fruit. You should try the chicken stall at the northern end.The market has a good atmosphere.

Really cool for a visit. We aren't local and found the wait for food to be insane... locals would know this though. Prices we saw aren't cheap, but markets can be like that. Good vibes, I would visit again.

Excellent place to visit every Saturday morning. You can get fresh fruits and vegetables at a cheaper price, hot drinks and food. But what I love so much was the friendly locals who greeted us as we walk around.

Great market, so much fresh produce. We left with plants and the best strawberries ever, they were huge and juicy. We tried the bacon butties and the who ate all the pies u guys rock, lamb & rosemary Mmmmm 👍👍👍👍

No crafts or rubbish or big companies. Just the real deal farmers market with great produce, great treats to eat and great buskers. Also a wonderful free stall each week that offers a taste of what's in season, with a guest chef who prepares tasting dishes for you to try out.

What a fantastic farmer's Market, as good as I've seen anywhere.

The Farmer's Market is always fantastic! Beautiful fresh produce and products, straight from the growers and makers. Free range eggs and meat, all locally produced. Got some amazing strawberries, crisp apples, Golden Queen peaches, and a whole lot of other lovely produce today. Not bad for the middle of Autumn!

Love the bacon butties stall. And the butcher who sells bacon pork hocks. Great market, Surprisingly very busy even when raining!

Great produce, meat and baked goods. There is also pickles, jams, and preserves. Well worth a visit. Remember to take your bags. They also have coffee cups to borrow which is a great idea.

It's a solid farmers market. Prices are not cheap, relatively small so you won't spend lots of time here. There are good stalls around and at least 3 coffee carts all busy so be prepared for a wait on the coffee. Produce is nice and fresh and most stall holders were friendly and relaxed which made it a nice atmosphere.

Must-go fresh salad and vege greens, all sorts of food, plants, honey, olive oil, wine ,meats, fish, flowers, porridge, pancakes COFFEE beads and bakery, music, if you go along later

Awesome vibe and range of stalls. The Bing chinese crepes are awesome. Evansdale and Whitestone cheese are the best, there are yum as dumplings, pies, Cacao and bagels too Juiced Up smoothies are amazing and super cheap. Perfect to stroll around on a Saturday morning to buy your fruit, bread and veg and a few wee treats as well.

Small friendly market with great local produce. Stone fruit and summer fruits just coming into peak season. Lots of nice food stalls, coffee and buskers make it a great place to meet friends for Saturday brunch.

Always a good little market. Lots of fresh veges. Evansdale cheese from Pablo, Havoc Bacon, great hazlenut butter, plenty of berries plus these days lots of young daikon which we go through truckloads of in miso shiru and w sashimi

Great locally produced products .. excellent coffee .. Artisan Breads .. two totally different musicians playing .. definitely would buy fruit n veg n flowers if I lived here.

One of my favorite to-do things on saturday mornings: the farmers market. You could grab a hot drink and quick feeds of bacon butties/pies/dumplings/crepes and even pizzas. Have got lots of organic and fresh produce. Good to shop for flowers on spring/summertime too.

Absolutely loved it. They update their Facebook weekly with new stalls or promoting stalls already there. The people are super friendly. I went there for exactly what I wanted and I found it there. Lovely little market. A must visit.

Love the great, many stalls there are! But it's so busy currently coz of the nice weather and many students and visitors in town! Therefore much waiting for anything at many of the stalls. Gets annoying?! Shame, oh well- it's worth it in the end! Thanks, Keri

Got 8th place in the top 10 farmers markets in New Zealand, I would strongly debate the accuracy of this outcome. In my books it's one of the best.

Awesome selection of lots of stuff. Check out CoKo Lounge for a great hot beverage, the guys there are super passionate and have heaps of knowledge about their product and it all works a treat pickle

Look, there are some great food offerings and local goods. But, for the crowds making it difficult to get around, waiting up to a half hour for coffee and the price of some goods, its really only for the devoted. And I'm not in the devoted camp. Ways they could improve would be finding a larger venue with better parking to handle the crowds. That would make the experience much better and safer in a post covid world.

Awesome place for kids and adults. Good food, great flower selection and amazing plants to buy. The aqua touch zone was amazing for kids and big kids.

It's a beautiful market with a lot of fresh stuff available to buy such as groceries, meat, milk, etc. There's some good stuff available to eat as well such as pies, pizza, etc.

Amazing tasting food and amazing selections but queuing a long time for items that are no longer available seems to be common. Not unusual in Dunedin but not great either. The products excel, some of the service needs to catch up.

A number of little stalls selling a variety of items such as crepes, bread, berries, fish, fresh food, drinks, flowers and pot plants among other things. I've tried the crepes and apple pie, which were both delicious and filling.

The variety of food and wares impresses every visit. Super lovely vendors and always a happy chill vibe. Shop for the week ahead or just come to munch that morning, whatever ya need otago farmers market has ya covered.

I always am fond of coming down to the Farmer's market when I visit my family. The crepes are good, the people are nice, and there are all sorts of tasty preservatives and other goods that are well worth the trip!

Absolutely superb oval Farmer's Market. This is an unmissable attraction for any foodie visitor, and a staple for locals. Don't have breakfast before you come, and pick up stuff for a picnic later. This is a must visit in Dunedin. A huge range of local fruit and veges, specialty foods. Try Rosedale Orchard for the best peaches and nectarines in the world or Smokehouse salami for a mouth watering snack!

Really great farmers market with a large selection of produce and ready made food stands. Stand outs are anything from the nice Lebanese lady, but especially her spinach pies (which is better heated in the oven so bring it home for a meal or snack later), the tofu stand which also has delicious buns and dumplings, and the juice/smoothie stand.

Nice but small market with usual array of vegetables, fruits, honeys/jams, cheeses, meats, eggs, bakery and prepared foods.

Great market with so much yummy food. Gilbert's bakery rocks and Juiced Up has the best fresh juices I've found in Dunedin. Rosedale orchards has delish stone fruit, one stall has big, juicy strawberries full of flavour.... there's so much yummy stuff & it's always buzzing. A "must do" when in Dunedin.

The best farmers market I've ever been too. SO much product, all so reasonably priced. Every vendor is so lovely. Huge selection. Great to swe it doing so well. Deserves the amazing reputation it has!

Love it. Highly recommend going to the Farmers Market if you are in Dunedin for the weekend. We try and go every Saturday we can. Great selection of local produce and craft foods. My personal favourite is the local beer, so good. We go for breakfast sometimes too as there are some good food and coffee places. I suggest the Bacon Buttie, amazing.

Many fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese and breakfast options, all very tasty and with a great price and quality. Definitely a good option for the weekly groceries.

While in Dunedin your one of the must visit place. This is a weekend market on Saturday morning from 0800 or 0830 till 1230 hrs. I recommend to visit and enjoy fresh and healthy fruits and eatables. Organic stuffs are bit expensive as usual but my recommendation is definitely try few things as those are very tasty and healthy. Many fruits you can buy at reasonable price when brought in bigger size.

I love going to the market whenever I'm in town. Coffee, meats, baked pastries etc, produce and flowers. All direct from the source and in a sweet environment.

Great local market set in the train station. This is a foodies dream.

A great market which only sells food so there's no goofy rubbish there. The bread is particularly worth going for and the store keepers are always happy to have a chat and answer questions about what they are selling.

One of the best farmers' markets in the country. Thoughtfully and strategically curated, there's something for everyone, hence the heavy crowds on a sunny day. Get there early (9.00 am or earlier) and you'll have a much more relaxed experience. Excellent locally grown fruit and veg (and the best tofu on the planet!). Great food and coffee options. EFTPOS is available in some places but bring cash to make it easier.

Nice fruit. Coffee. Food. Try to find the triple sandwich! A hint for non-English speakers, fruit labelled "seconds" is cheaper because its not good quality (it's for cooking and jam-making, not eating). Pay a little more and buy the good stuff. (my Cantonese speaking wife made this mistake).

Good fresh local selection of produce, plants and gathering. I like the coffee cup library at the entrance meaning i can walk having coffee and experiance the markets without using a takeaway cup.

Great place to get full milk (Holy Cows) everything 2 to 3 times more expensive than a supermarket. The quality of some products lower than you would find in a supermarket. Many stalls not worth the premium charged. Most stalls do not have eftpos.

Great seasonal produce, a bit less variety in winter but soooo much cheaper than the supermarket monopoly!

Nice place to get a. Tasty breakfast and seasonal produce but don't expect to get your week's groceries at a farm gate price. Lots of nice speciality food (wildcaught venison salami, hāngi meals, local cheese and fresh milk for a start) as well as yummy things for breakfast (vegan burgers, meat pies, fresh break and other tastes like Bings and boreks). There is produce available but is becoming more scarce and sadly not much different in price or quality to what you might get at a supermarket.

Organic fruits and veggies, you will know that they're spray free. And nice for hanging out while eating your breakfast. A lot of options to choose from.

One of the best produce markets in the country. Can be slower in winter but still worth a wander around. Other seasons you are spoilt for choice buying beautiful fresh produce from the growers, what could be better.

If you're in Dunedin on Saturday this is a must. The abundant fresh produce a sight for the eyes... such friendly stall holders. Huge variety very hard to choose. Coming from bay of plenty region to see luscious cherries raspberries and stone fruit (best looking and tasting apricots/peaches ever) so late in season great. Bought lots cheeses.. bread..fruit..mediterannean dips etc making fantastic brunch and dinner that night.

A good place for organic fruits and vegetables, free range eggs and chicken, good food, music and people. It operates only in Saturday morning. If you are planning to visit Dunedin, don't miss to visit this market, you will feel relaxed.

Lovely market with plenty of fresh produce and other classic market goodies. The food trucks have great food and coffee and if you can try the crepes, the chocolate/banana one is devine. And don't go past a bacon buttie either! There's a stall that does cheese and another that does smoked goods. The salmon is particularly nice. Can be very crowded due its popularity, get in early if possible.

Best farmers market I've been to in NZ

Pretty good Farmers Market. Highlight for me is always the Bagel stall or Tart Tin.

It's a buzzy place to be, good coffee, a good selection of food hot and cold and there's always live music!! The produce on offer is fresh, well priced and of a consistently high quality each week. From fresh honey to homemade Tabbouleh, Salami. It is outdoors but being at the end of the railway station is quite protected. There are slightly less stalls in the winter but not by much. Open each Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm.

The farmers market is a nice place to look for food, healthy options like smoothies packed with organic foods, pastries, cured meat products, and even dumplings and buns. Aside from that, usual comfort foods such as burgers, crepes and coffees can be had here. The place is also home to about three or four flower and plant vendors, of which are all grown by themselves.

Cheap fruits, Veges and the most important is Manuka Honey. Love the atmosphere, street performance and good food to enjoy. If you have no cash, just cash out from one of the traders. Easy right?

Such a beautiful market - we were extremely pleased that our ship was in port on a Saturday so that we could go to these markets. The local produce was amazing. We tasted everything and anything as we meandered around the stalls purchasing lots of local fruits and cheeses. We had a breakfast picnic at the front of the station area as we could not take everything back on board the ship. The cherries and blackberries were absolutely huge and deliciously juicey. Very impressed with this market and recommend it anyone who is visiting the beautiful city of Dunedin. On my bucket list to return again.

It's alright as a farmer's market, but nothing too outstanding

The dependable stall are always there, fruit and veggies a bit expensive but understandably so. The breads and cheeses are amazing and bacon buttie is always good. I really enjoy the live performers every week, such talent.

I'd really like to rate this higher as it's our only local market but the quality of the market varies from week to week. The produce you get here is usually cheaper/better than what is available in most supermarkets and there are a number of food trucks that serve delicious food as well as some craft stalls. There is usually live music (unless it's raining) and it has a nice atmosphere. As with all farmers markets I would recommend getting there earlier rather than later as the good produce gets taken first and can be pretty dire in the later hours of the morning. A great place to have a brunch meetup with friends and do a little artisanal shopping at the same time.

Great atmosphere, but it took 20 mins to get a coffee from the exchange coffee cart 🤔

Atmosphere is really nice when sunny, there are some good stalls, specially for meat and fish, but that just a shame the selection of veggies is so poor, and it is globally over-priced. It is a good place to hang out, take a coffee and a quick lunch, not really to do your groceries buying.

Espacially good in the spring and summertime when a good range of produce becomes availableand the market is lively. I would however like to see more local growers of simple produce -- the market is heavy with higer priced value-added goods.

This market is open in Saturday morning. It is near Dunedin Railway station. In fact, the market extends to the platform of station. Otago Farmers' Market is an open one busy with farmers selling the produce directly to customers. Local fresh fruits are available in plenty. Many types of berries are for sale at reasonable price. Fruits, vegetables, plants, seeds and seedlings, fish, meat, processed foods, milk products, Manuka honey and many many items are there for sale. I visited the market two times and had good experiences. Though crowded, I enjoyed shopping at this market. I will certainly recommend this place to a visitor at Dunedin, New Zealand.

Great place to shop and have a coffee and a chat

The only flea market in Dunedin. Its not a big market but its sweet and warm. Local dairy, farmers, bakery and coffee, fish and meat. It makes use of the parking area next to Dunedin Railway Station. We were lucky that we made to stay in Dunedin on a Saturday. At this time of year there is a massive abundance of apples and not much else in the produce department... However... a crepe and a GUD coffee makes it well worth the visit! There is always an awesome vibe, buskers and people to watch.

There is good spots with organic veggies and not so expensive. There is also some music bands, and nice coffee, smoothies, fresh juices for a breakfast. For fresh fish, we have to get up very early!! There is also 2 places to buy some cheeses - even that they are not really as diverse as in France (even if there is a lot of milk), and I haven't found sheep cheeses sadly.. There is a great recycling spot to put all the waste even the compostable things! (That should be everywhere!) The drawback is the lack of cycles racks at the entrance..

One of the best I've been to, any time of the year. It helps to get there early.

We decided to have a look at this after finding it in a guide book. The first thing to say is that the setting, Dunedin Railway Station, is stunning in itself. The building itself is a mixture of different styles, Baroque/Edwardian/Victorian style with some great stained windows. You then walk onto the platform and there are a number of stalls selling everything from wine and cheese to micro farmed cress. There are also a number of food stalls selling pies, hot dogs and crepes. It was a thoroughly enjoyable hour and a nice crepe. Well worth a visit on a Saturday morning.
