P. V.I bought quite a few of vegetables and fruits. I also bought eggs for the first time as someone told me they are very nice. I love different stall that serve cooked food. I also bought sourdough breads and danishes from the bakery stall and the lady's stall who sold us the sausages is so tasty and delicious. It's a great place to hang out in the morning and have breakfast at the waterfront if you feel like having something different on a Sunday morning.
A. T.Good alternative when there is 1 drop of rain and they close the riverside market. There is good variety of quality food, but expect some pricer item than the Lower Hutt market. Recommend

K. W.Open fresh market. Located between Te Papa Museum and New World Supermarket. Fresh vegetables and fruits are on sale. Buying from direct vendors is really cheap. There is also a street market next to this fresh one. Food carts are along the street. International food from several countries are cooked hot for you.
W. A.This market has varieties of fruits and vegetables at slightly cheaper than supermarkets but this are fresh not frozen so you can go for it. Don't forget carry your own bags 🛍.
Around the market, you can also enjoy listening live songs while eating as there are lot of different types of food stalls are also there.

D. D.This is my Sunday morning love❤️. Walk by the harbour front and get all the fresh produce with considerable prices. You will get all sorts of vegetables, fruits and poultry. I also enjoy the musical performances every time I visit. Many eateries from different nationalities and something new to taste every Sunday .

A.Overpriced, understaffed veggie market. My least favourite in Wellington. Food stalls are great! I wish there was a bigger seating area (outdoor furniture) where people can enjoy their food while seated.
A. C.Best place to stock up on vegetables for the week, and finish the grocery shopping off with a cheeky hotdog from one of the food trucks 😉 Despite being open until mid-day, it's better to go in early before some of the veggies start wilting under the sun.

C. S.Besides the fresh produce , be sure to check out the food stalls along the harbour . There’s Indian, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Damascus, Indonesian, French, Dutch food among others and it all smells and looks good. a great vibe. Love the live music too. Just wear a jacket as it gets windy. Parking is a bit tricky but there will be people leaving as you come so it should be fine. Parking charges are $2.50 per hour on weekends.

Dogs welcome but I would suggest going as early as possible as it gets very busy. They have a great range of vendors so don't have breakfast before you come down! Coffee trucks, juice trucks, crepe trucks and all sorts of others. A lovely vibrant start to a Sunday morning.

Food options all excellent range and quality - priced as you'd expect for instant supply. Many gems of home-made or small-business items. Can be very crowded close to midday. Great range of fresh fish direct from the boat, and some excellent artisan meats, cheeses...
T. S.Fresh fruit and veg. Some of it is a bit tired by the end of the day as the heat gets to it but on the whole the quality is fantastic and it's cheaper than the supermarket! Always a bonus. There are also food stalls running to the waterfront serving a range of tasty foods
N.Only went to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Check prices before you buy. Price per Kg can vary enormously. There's hot international food from all over the world to tempt your palette. And a nice walk along the harbour if you want to.

F. C.Cool market with lots of cheap fruit and veggies. Bring cash! Eftpos machines are available at some stalls but it's much easier to just bring some coins. Many of the stalls have their own marquees to keep food cool, but some of the smaller ones are sitting out in the sun so would definitely recommend getting there early.

F. M.This market has the most food stalls and extra things to see and do but it is not my favourite market and does not have the same good deals as the Victoria St or Newtown Markets. Often the quality of the product is not that good. Still cheaper than the supermarket in most cases though.

L. B.This market is an amazing way to get your groceries whilst saving money and also supporting local businesses and producers. The quality is super good and the store owners are always so happy to help! For $2 you get to park which is a great price and you always get your money's worth, you can even save on plastics by buying eco friendly reusable bags. This market is so good for the environment and I would very highly reccomend, even if you are only going there for a bite to eat as the food that is available is always top quality too. Baguettes to carrots, reusable straws to freshly baked chimney cakes, you can find it all at this diverse market!
Fresh milk and meat, vegetables and fruits, eggs and bread, traditional cheeses all available and this market is easily accessible from anywhere in Wellington as it is just outside te papa.
E. O. (.A large selection of cheep fruit and vegetables. It gets crowded quickly though. Wellington's usual food trucks turn up to compliment the fresh produce, so you can have pancakes and coffee if you're not so keen on the veggies.

And I ate French crepe, but there is nothing special for their Belgium dark chocolate as they just put little portion of dark chocolate.

R.The Harbourside Sunday Market has become THE weekly event for me: veggies and fruits for prices well beneath what you'll find in stores; artesan food in forms of bread, meat, pastries and so on; always some musicians present who lives up the place with live music...seriously, do visit even if you're not planning to buy anything. The atmosphere is amazing! Oh and I love to end my visits with a meal from one of the many pop-up food wagons that are scattered all around the market.

M.Pretty good market offering abundant fruit and veg, however, there is so much of that and also other foods such as bread, there isn't what you'd expect to find at a typical market, such as clothing, toys, books, collectibles or cheap jewelry. The fruit and veg, and the other foods are available and quite tasty, but upmost, in a great location on the waterfront, next to Te Papa Museum.

However AVOID absolutely the JK’s juice stand (with the sign ”we do not serve Donald Trump”) where my friend and I (and 2 other French girls a little bit before us) got YELLED at by the owner for literally just asking him... To repeat the choice of juices left !
He’s been the worst experience we’ve had in Wellington since we arrived 3 years ago!

J. F.For us who love fruit and vegetables, with our meat, this is a somewhat more affordable option than your regular store. Some good bargains to be had and the setting makes it even more attractive.

M.OK, Harbourside Market, every Sunday that's the place to visit if you want fresh vegetables, and also just a few meters away there's a fishing boat tied up by the wharf, you can purchase fresh fish off it, like they say..you can't beat Wellington on a good day, check it out take the family for a day out.

J. F.Best value produce in central Wellington. If you're prepared to pick through the bruised and battered, undersized and overripe, you can eat very healthily on the cheap.
As well as fruit and veg, there are many other regular stalls, including herbs, flowers, fish, meat, cakes and bread. My personal favourite is the fresh tofu, soy milk and noodles from one particular stall.
There are also food trucks and buskers, so you can get a meal and entertainment as well as doing your shopping.
Be aware - most stalls are cash only.
M. H.Fresh, local produce offered straight to the public from small market gardeners / wholesalers. This Sunday, open-air market between Te Papa and Waitangi Park is a great resource for Wellingtonians as produce is much fresher and cheaper than those found in the supermarkets. It is much smaller than the Hutt Riverbank Market but seems adequate as stalls do not run out of stock except for some lines at the end of the day. Prices can vary from stall to stall for some items but on the whole these truck-stalls are still competitive.
And when it comes to variety, markets are your best sources, eg. find various Chinese mustard greens and other Asian vegs such as Kang Kong (water spinach, water convolvulus), snake beans (Yard Long Beans / Chinese Long Beans), Asian gourds, bitter-gourds, winter melons, daikons, Asian brinjals, Asian fruit, fresh spices and herbs, etc. when in season (in addition to the usual lineup found in supermarkets). You can haggle if you wish for boxes of over-ripe / old produce which stall owners will usually offload for a modest fee at closing time eg. bananas, other fruit (ok for cooking purposes).
Cooked-food stalls offering different cuisines also debut at the same time providing shoppers with a variety of instant, takeaway foods. HM opens early and closes at 2 pm.

Got a completos hot dog on my last visit, didn't quite stack up to the Chilean ones... there's an interesting nitrous infused/tapped cold brew that ill have to crack into next time.
