a.NZ can be pretty hostile place for smokers, I was relieved to be able to have a smoke on the verandah in peace. This is one of the main reasons I will make sure to stay here again. Thankyou. The food was excellent also.
J.Very accomodating, and customer service or staff are just so welcoming. If I were to go back to Christchurch and was finding a hotel. I'd pick Commodore.
P.This is the first time I have actually stayed at this hotel, having only eaten in the restaurant a few times over the years. This latest stay has been for arrival MIQ and I can comfortably say this is the best quarantine place I have ever struck. (Having done this a few times and in different countries they really do go the extra mile.)
As I mentioned before I have only been to Pattersons restaurant previously, and wow... They are still making restaurant quality food, every single day for every single meal, incredible. Most places just don't care as when in quarantine you are a captive audience but the chef and their approach goes to prove it is possible deliver quality food for people stuck in this hopeless MIQ system. Well done to everyone involved...
The staff have been excellent to deal with and the room is quality, yes it's an older hotel but it so incredibly well maintained age is not a factor.
If you have to go through the whole MIQ experience you have won the lottery twice if you get to stay here.
For sure, I will be back to repay with some loyalty when all this quarantine rubbish is finished with, even if it is just to eat in the excellent restaurant. But I would happily recommend anyone to stay here.

K.We’re here now in MIQ in 116. Meals are incredible, not just good food, Chef and team who are amazing in the kitchen and passionate about cooking put them out. Post miq, have it on a white plate with a glass of red, thank the Chef and tip the team generously. We were so ready to complain and so thankful now. Everyone in the hotel has been good, professional and fun in the short time we talk, we truly appreciate them making those 14 days go by. Thank you 🤗
T.Staff mades us feel welcomed into the isolation period of 14 days. Rooms are spacious, Has the basic things we needed of everyday needs. When needed they provide Rooms are neat and tidy. Meals provided and they are delicious. Service is good. Good and excellent phone receptionists.
I thanked the chef's for excellent meal plans. May God continue to bless the management and of you all for your service to the nation.

S.Very good food in a quarantine hotel. Quality with the quantity. I once asked for a peanut butter sandwich which is not in the menu and they actually made one for me. Love their vegetarian curry.
J.Super friendly lovely staff in a beautifully set out hotel. The food in Patterson's restaurant is absolutely amazing. Sadly not open to the public for a while due to being used as a covid isolation facility but when its opened to the public dont miss your chance to pay them a visit!
T.Very, very good hotel. Privately owned and operated, with great service shining through. My room was huge, clean and very comfortable. The restaurant and facilities -- including indoor pool -- are both great, but the customer service and flexibility are what really stand out. Very happy to have me use the facilities all day after checkout while I waited for my flight. Plenty of extras too, including shuttle lifts around the area, free bike hire, bus passes and more. Highly recommended.
R.It's an amazing hotel. Very clean and tidy and very good rooms. It's a family owned place. This facility is managed by one of the three brothers. Staff here is very friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant and bar named Patterson's. Very good food served.
They have a gym, pool and a spa for the guests. Cycle is given for free at the facility. Overall a very good place to stay if you are visiting Christchurch.
M.Shockingly good. Family owned. The service is excellent and considerate in ways many hotels fail to be: helping with bags, reminding us of free shuttles, giving us late check-out simply by asking about our flight onwards and seeing our kids. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. Everything is very clean. The WiFi is great. The onsite restaurant is very good. Don't hesitate to book.

R.This was a lovely stay, even for just one night. The rooms were nice and big and well stocked with everything you would expect. You get a free drink at the hotel bar which is nice. The air conditioning was amazing, we came on a 30 degree day!! The staff were really accommodating and even lent my partner some nice pants when he managed to forget his and we were going out for a special occasion. Truly above and beyond!!
R.We were hosted here for our Covid Isolation. We felt so lucky to have been put here. Rooms are large, airy, with our own balcony. The staff and all involved were great. No complaints here!
C.Such nice people, great room, beautiful grounds, wonderful service, amazing food.... they had a tennis court and other games which was awesome! The food they made was so good! The room was so nice and the beds were so comfy. There was a nice pool and spa and a gym! Top notch!
M.An unexpected pleasure. Our flight was cancelled so the airline put us up for the night. Everyone was very professional, polite, helpful, and understanding of the circumstances. We were quickly checked in and shown to our room, with a nice overview of the facilities and history along the way. Although we didn't get to use many of the facilities (I was very disappointed to not have togs packed, the pool looked great), we did use the free guest wifi and make use of the bar. Again the staff were very friendly and chatty, the drink selection was very good, and the layout and seating comfy. The room was well laid out, modern, and very clean. The bathroom had a good sized shower and good quality soaps, shampoo and conditioner. The bed was a large king and very comfy too. We didn't eat breakfast as we were up early to get back to the airport via the courtesy shuttle, which conveniently runs on demand. Overall we really enjoyed our unexpected stay and both agreed we'd choose the venue next time we were in town.
V.Excellent stay for 2 nights. Great buffet breakfast, finally hot food actually hot as in most other Hotels it is luke warm Quality food. Great service, lovely room. Would have been 5 stars but pool freezing cold. Definitely would stay again, before flying overseas.
M.Fantastic experience... Hands down the most accommodating hotel we have ever had the pleasure of staying in! The staff are amazing as are the owners (a second generation family business as we found out and a bit of an institution too!) who are so passionate about their hotel and their guests! Can't give them a high enough rating as they truly deserve a 10 out of 5!

C.We stayed at the Commodore this week, we had an amazing stay. The rooms are large, clean and warm with everything you could want. They have three shuttles and although I didn’t use one I noted that they ran all day back and forwards to the airport.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and I particularly liked that the Manager was visible in and around the complex. I noticed Michael the Manager meeting guests coming in or out of the hotel on the shuttle even at 7am. When I was going for my morning walk, he stoped to say good morning and give some advice on where I could walk.
A great place to stay, handy to the Airport with a friendly family vibe.
E.Staff were very welcoming and great interior of the hotel with lots of decor about the antarctic expeditions. However the specific room I was in had a very strong and pungent smell of some type of food perhaps left by the previous guest, but it was not a great experience. Overall everything else was standard or fine.

S.Our airline booked us into The Commodore after our flight was delayed. We really enjoyed our stay here. The facilities were nice and the room was comfortable. It's really close to the airport as well (5-10 mins drive) and there's a shuttle service.
The staff were lovely and the owner was friendly.
Some parts of the hotel looked a little bit dated but that didn't really bother us since the rooms themselves were nice and modern.There is an on-site bike hire service which I thought was a nice touch.
I can't really comment on the value for money aspect since we didn't have to pay for the stay but I would consider The Commodore again the next time I'm in Christchurch.

T.My wife and I recently stayed here on a 10 day trip. From start to finish my stay was perfect. Our suite was kept impeccably clean. Our room was really smoke free. The hotel staff are very friendly at all times and very helpful. I think the ***agement do a great job.
L.We stayed here overnight as we had a very early flight out of Christchurch. It was the right choice to make! The room was clean and comfortable, the food from the restaurant was fantastic and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and the requests we made for assistance with disability aids were met very quickly and with a minimum of fuss. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

W.I was at the Commodore Hotel last week to take a course. From the moment I arrived I was warmly and professionally welcomed and delighted to find my room was spacious, quiet, very comfortable with a fabulous bathroom area. Mustn't forget the very friendly shuttle driver/concierge. We were so well looked after while using one of the wonderfully naturally-lit conference rooms. The staff were always attentive, friendly, helpful and obliging. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. Highly, highly recommend for any course or conference, small or large. Hope to see you all again.
H.The porter Henry was lovely. He was extremely friendly when getting our bags and showing us to our room. We enjoyed a delicious meal and dessert in the restaurant. The decor of our room was simple but very nice. It was also neat to see the tractor in the entrance way. The buffet in the morning was spot on. R.It's a nicely appointed Hotel. My big breakfast was huge. The service was very good and the room very comfy. Gotta love a newish mattress and nice linen. Shower over the bath was the only downside
J.We had a fabulous stay here over labour weekend. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We were lucky enough to be ungraded to an adjoining family room, which was a lovely surprise.

E.While the room is nice and prepared well. The air was stale and needed airing out before. However the service from the staff was superb and even though they had a lot of different conferences going on they juggled that around with a smile. From the parking attendant to the receptionist and butler they were all very welcoming.
C.Superb service. Spent a night here courtesy of Air NZ due to a flight cancellation and Commodore staff were super helpful. Prompt complimentary shuttle, friendly front desk staff and delicious food . Highly rated.
s.An airport hotel with a distinct character ! Very warm hospitality and the rooms are spacious and clean too. The city is easily accessible so one wouldn't mind staying even if you have to visit the city often. They also offer complimentary airport pick ups and drops so that's a good feature too.
S.Pretty much the sole reason why I've requested my company send me to Christchurch more frequently, I love it. The commodore is my home away from home and I tell you few hotels can make you feel this comfortable. The gyms a bit small and becomes crowded once two or more people are in there, but it's adequate, haven't used the sauna or pool yet, but there's a first for everything. The rooms are more than spacious with a large bathroom with a tub. All rooms are modernised, and the turn down service is something that is becoming less common elsewhere but still seems to be done here, what a great touch.
With a delightful garden in the middle of the hotel to relax in, you may also borrow a bicycle from the hotel and ride to nearby parks, or as far as the botanical Gardens (or further if you are keen?).
J.Absolutely unbelievably from the friendliest staff to exceptional service. This hotels best assets are its staff. In terms of the rooms they are perfect clean, spacious and with all ammenities required provided. Lot of hotels worldwide should learn from these guys.

J.The room was spacious and overlooked native trees with lots of birdlife. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food varied and tasty - an overall pleasant experience.

I.Near the airport, shops, restaurants. Has a balcony (ashtray provided for smokers comfort, but no smoking in the rooms) and the comfiest bed I have experienced in a hotel (so soft). There is a restaurant and bar attached as well that is quite lively when wedding and conference parties are here but the noise doesn't carry to the rooms, so light sleepers won't have issues here.
Can have views of gardens (rooms are built around the gardens and indoor pool structure) but also nice views of the forestry/gardens surrounding the hotel (outer rooms).
Highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable, fuss free, and relaxing stay.

J.Amazing hotel by the airport. The staff is very helpful and the hotel is equipped with a good gym, sauna, a fresh pool and a hot sparkled pool. The hotel rents rooms and houses. I stayed in a very nice house. The city centre is easily reachable thanks to free bus tickets or free bikes that the hotel provides. Finally, there is free wifi.
J.Our flight was cancelled and we just randomly checked for a comfortable overnight stay. After searching the net, we found this hotel. Though our stay is very short, they allowed us a free late check-out and the staff were very friendly! Free internet as well so the kids loved it. The room was clean ... Did I say the staff were very nice?! :)
A.This is my new favourite hotel in Christchurch. Rooms were large, well appointed and well lit. Staff were all very friendly. (I think because the place is family owned ) Location is excellent, and the restaurant on site was good.
They give you a free drink voucher on arrival, which is a nice touch.
F.We stayed here twice, at both ends of our New Zealand trip. When we arrived, we figured out how to call for a shuttle and a most helpful driver / bellhop picked us up quickly and helped us orient. When we returned, it was nice to have a familiar place. The hotel is easy to find, has plenty of parking, good food, good wifi, and comfortable, clean rooms.
B.This airport hotel was acceptable, but the rooms were older and less impressive than the website and other reviews would imply. The pool and hot tub were nice, but the service bordered on unacceptable at times. The website advertises free bus passes, but two of the front desk employees would only give out 1 bus pass a day, insisting that we should buy our own return ticket. For a place that advertises being hassle free, this was a definitely a hassle.
M.The Commodore Airport Hotel would be a fabulous place to stay. Excellent top class service and free transport for customers to and from the airport. There is plenty of parking and the staff will go out of their way to make sure you are looked after well and to your satisfaction. The senior staff are very experienced and and mix easily with people who stay at the hotel.
I strongly recommend this hotel as being a must stay if you are traveling through or staying for some time in Christchurch.
J.I cannot say how many nights I’ve spent here but more than 50 at least. Without a doubt one of the best hotels I’ve stayed anywhere in the world. The combination of professional friendly staff, excellent food in the bar and restaurant, great selection of beverages, free bike rental to cruise into the city via Hagley Park, proximity to the airport for late night arrivals, free shuttle and on site car hire. All these things meld together to make a fantastic guest experience but the real pièce de résistance is the rooms. Hugely spacious, tastefully furnished and impeccably clean, the rooms are a real luxury and home away from home. Absolutely recommend, you will not be disappointed.
T.Very convinient if you need somewhere close to the hotel. The beds were excellent and staff extremely friendly. They offer a airport pickup / drop off service which was extremely useful. I plan to stay here again
D.Hospitality is off the chart. Friendly and professional staff. Excellent food at Pattersons restaurant. Well worth paying a few extra dollars for the quality of the meals. Soundproof accommodations. Each room has a mini-bar. There is a gym, sauna and an indoor pool and spa as well. 24 hour room service available. The hotel is located near the airport which means it's 15 minutes from the city. However, they will provide you with a bus pass to get you there. They also have courtesy vans to bring you to and from the airport. I will book my next accommodation there on my return to Christchurch in 2 weeks.
M.I have stayed in many 4 & 5 star hotels worldwide and I swear there's something special about their (Commodore's) bed and blanket. It was so hard for me to wake up the next day. Bed was so comfy and soft. My only disappointment was I wish I got to stay at Commodore airport hotel at CHC longer than just one night. Will definitely come back to stay at this hotel next time I'm in town! :)

U.Unexpected gem. Not a fancy hotel but the service is great. Really friendly , airport shuttle was able to pick me up at the rental car location! Some vouchers for drinks at the bar was a nice touch.

G.A work colleague and I were attending a conference in christchurch recently and were staying at the commodore hotel christchurch.From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like royalty.From the front desk staff, to the gentleman who took us to our room, to the bar staff, the waitresses, to the shuttle staff.
The customer service was exceptional.We cant forget the cleaning staff either, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Absolute pleasure
F.The food is good 3 x meals a day started my 14 day hotel isolation on the 14th of Nov 2020 after returning to New Zealand from Australia rooms good room service good extra meals snacks tvs have hdmi access points for laptops to run Netflix YouTube Streaming and Hard drive from laptops and Google Cast decent beverages from room service word of advice bring your own top shelf spirits as only beer and wine from room service overall if you have to spend 2 weeks here in hotel isolation count yourself lucky.
J.We stayed a night here after we missed our connecting flight due to a delay. Service was outstanding and not just from one team member, everyone we spoke to was so lovely and warm. We were all a little tired after a long day at airports and receiving such a warm welcome really cheered us up. Very grateful for the service here and would recommend.
M.Best hotel my wife and I have stayed at in the whole of New Zealand and we travelled a lot. Price was also substantially lowest of all the hotels we stayed at. If you can stay here you wont be let down. I have no criticism. They even cater for smokers on the off room balconies. And for non smokers they seclude the balconies well. Ten star for everything.

we stayed in the sir Edmund Hilary suite and it was breathe taking. a very special treat for me and my partner and we were very overwhelmed with the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the staff.
The room had a number of very special iconic things from Sir Ed that give the room a unique touch. Breakfast was delicious and again the staff were so friendly and helpful! The outside scenery was so beautiful and had a really nice kiwi feel with all the fern trees.
Best place in Christchurch I highly reccomend 5stars!!!

p.A great place to stay in Christchurch. The hotel staff was very pleasant and the rooms were very comfy. Wonderful restaurant and bar area. Pool for kids was awesome to get all their energy released before long plane trip back to U.S.
K.We were flying standby and didn't make our flight to Sydney do we looked for a hotel close to the airport and found this beautiful and comfortable hotel which made us think that not making our flight was the best thing that happened. This is a lovely place even if you stay in the city as they have free 24 hour shuttle.
T.Beaitiful rooms, spacious and clean, modern and light with amazing blackout drapes which enabled me to sleep in, something I never do. Amazing service all round and exceptional rental car prices, the restaurant is fabulous, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I will definately be staying here when I'm in Christchurch next and would highly recommend the commodore hotel.

T.We will be staying here again in a couple weeks. I was surprise how large the rooms were for a standard room. I was very impressed with the rooms. The staff of this hotel was the friendliest and most helpful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the door*** with a warm welcome.
P.A well-sized room with a well-stocked bathroom, including moisturiser and shampoo (believe it or not, not all accommodation in New Zealand has these).
There is also climate control (heating and cooling) which is another bonus in New Zealand.
The shower was excellent and the bed was super-king and extremely comfortable.
We also ate a quick meal (seafood chowder) at the hotel restaurant, Pattersons, and it was delicious. the service was prompt and friendly despite them being busy with a function.
Indeed, all the staff we encountered were very friendly.
This accommodation is within 3 minutes drive to/from the airport.
We would definitely recommend and stay here again if we were in Christchurch.
A.Absolutely the best service from any hotel we have stayed at in the South Island. We arrived on a late flight and once we were at the hotel the Porter noticed that there wasn't enough milo and milk for all 5 of us and he would go and grab some more. (We never asked for anything but he said that we might like a nice cup of warm milo since it was so late) This was such a kind gesture and really made an impact on us. The owner Michael came up to us at breakfast and asked us where we headed and had a general chit chat.... we thought this was lovely. From the time we were picked up from the airport at midnight till the time we left everyone was so nice. Great food, extremely clean rooms and as I said the service is second to none. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Christchurch.

They have a wide range of rooms to suit business or family travel.
Excellent service and always prepared to go the extra mile to solve some random request. In my last visit this included leaving a car on site over the weekend while I flew back to Auckland and their concierge advising me of my tyre size when I decided to get some snow chains for the return trip.
Its one of the few hotels I frequently recommend to others.

A.Extremely friendly staff, large guest rooms that are very tastefully appointed. My usual room has a small balcony which is a bonus when you can open a window or door and have fresh air in your room.

b.Good hotel near airport. Deducted 300$ as security,though paid in advance. Deprecating such practice. As a traveler if you deduct such amount, your calculation go wrong. They may return money later on, by the time trip is over.

S.It's a great place. Was noisey though. I had bottom floor. There was a guy up above me who got up all through the night.. kept going out for a cigarette. It sounded like a sliding door opening that was noisey to open.. he was coughing all night also. Walls and ceiling wasn't very sound proof. Every time he went outside it woke me up cause of the noisey door and his coughing. Other than that the place is great. Not sure if I'll stay there again as that's the second stay in a row I've had a bad sleep.
M.Hotel does pretty well in all respects. Breakfast prices are the usual rort at hotels - not everyone wants to partake of a lavish buffett. I can get a flat white and eggs on toast for about $15 at cafe why not similar in the hotel?
P.Stayed on the business just over a week ago. Very clean and tidy, cheap wifi in room or you can use the free wifi in the bar area. Staff were helpful and friendly enough. Close to town if you have a car, nice and handy to the airport.
C.As an organisation our business regularly uses the Commodore Chch Hotel and whether you are interacting with the staff face to face at the hotel or over the phone the customer service experience is helpful and easy. Personally, I have visited and stayed at the hotel and I am always impressed. Everyone I speak to at the hotel (cleaners, bar staff, wait staff, front of house, reservations etc) are always very helpful and friendly. Other Hotels could do with visiting the Copthorne Commodore Hotel and learning about exceptional customer service. Well done team!!
