Reviews of Hinehopu Golf Club
P. R.This one is most certainly a 'hidden gem', as well as being one of the friendliest clubs I've ever had the pleasure of visiting (and I've visited over 300 now so I like to think I know what I'm talking about!)
Hinehopu is Iwi owned and everything positive about Maori culture shines through in this little piece of Bay of Plenty Heaven.
The course itself surprised me, from the road it looks pleasant enough but out in the shadow of the mountain are some truly magnificent holes in a truly majestic setting, the third could be in the Canadian Rockies, two and eight are fabulous par threes and the signature seventh is called 'the hole of death' for very good reason.
All this is just the beginning because the hospitality in the clubhouse is second to none and the banter is relentless!!!!
All in all one of the best days I've had on the course for quite some time and if you fancy some fun on a Sunday, turn up at 0900 for the weekly haggle, you won't be disappointed.

R. D.Nice little 9 hole country course, $15 for 9 or 18 holes. Some challenging holes with trees and OOB an ever present danger. The lady who was at the club the day we visited was very friendly and helpful. If you're travelling between Rotorua and Whakatane and the clubs are in the car drop in for a round.
T. T.Had a great time here. Terehia really looked after us and made us feel absolutely welcome and loved. Awesome course and great value at $15 green fees. We will definitely be back because we feel we owe that place for the hospitality. Iwi owned as well 🥰

H. W.A beautiful nine hole course in a majestic setting. The views of Matawhaura mountain and peaks of lake Rotoiti are stunning. The greens are stunning for a little golf club and the course overall is well maintained. There are enough hazards to keep your game honest with some forgiving fairways to allow a good blow out of your swing. Locals/members are friendly and helpful, another great New Zealand golf club to have a great game of golf.

J.(Translated) A very pleasant little 9 hole course without major difficulty in a beautiful setting. Greens and fairways are very well maintained. The green fee at 15 NZD is really cheap and some games of clubs are made available free of charge to players who do not have equipment. The lady who came to open the clubhouse and who informed us about the conditions of use of the course is charming and seems straight out of the era of The Legend of Bagger Vance (including his car!). Congratulations to this tiny club that deserves to be known.

Un très agréable petit parcours 9 trous sans difficulté majeure dans un cadre magnifique. Greens et fairways sont très bien entretenus. Le green fee à 15 NZD est vraiment bon marché et quelques jeux de clubs sont mis gratuitement à disposition des joueurs qui n'ont pas de matériel. La dame qui était venue ouvrir le club house et qui nous a renseignés sur les conditions d'usage du parcours est charmante et semble tout droit sortie de l'époque de La Légende de Bagger Vance (y compris sa voiture !). Bravo à ce tout petit club qui mérite d'être connu.
