Enjoyed rock climbing. They do safety check, training for beginners. They also offer student discount on a certain day during the week. Tried popping in for kayak on a nice sunny (less windy) day and all the kayaks were rented out. Would recommend booking in advance if possible. Otherwise staff is friendly and helpful and the place is good.

Absolutely amazing place for rock climbing! The bouldering area gets a new wall reset every week or so. They have a couple competition style challenge walls that are very fun and changing constantly.

My friend and I did the evening kayaking tour with Meghan - she was amazing, very sparky and put up with our very slow paddling with great patience. The tour was beautiful, very cinematic and we even saw dolphins! Give the woman a raise, that's what I say!

Love this the experience was excellent... Kept the family busy for the whole day... We just done the rock climbing... So many different ways ... And they have a day pass...so we could climb ... Go and explore and go back for more... We enjoyed it thank you guys!!!

The number of routes for bouldering are a bit limited with 5 grades because of the space but the courses are well designed, location is good and price is also appropriate. I went there on Saturday morning and it’s not crowded with 5 to 10 ppl.

They are very friendly and easy going. Provided me with the gear including swimming costume and life jacket. They stored my all personal belongings and they have a changing area too. I had an awsome experience doing kayaking in a good weather. And i had a chance to do kayaking with dolphins..... :) Nothing beats wellington on a good day.

It is a great indoor climbing gym, and a kayak operator. Being right on the wharves, public can hire a kayak, and go kayaking in the bay. The water looks calm when the photo is taken. The next day, we see more waves, mostly due to the strong wind. It is a very windy city after all. I didn't get the chance to try out climbing or kayaking on the day of visit, because I wasn't really expecting to find Fergs as I explore the bay. Nice surprise. But I think this would be a cool place to visit for the locals and any visitors that have some time to exercise. Oh, there is a big bouldering area as well. The bouldering problem looks really difficult though.

Fantastic array of different climbs, staff are friendly but kept us waiting for 30 minutes just to do the initial training. Completely unnecessary since the people training before us started about a minute after we arrived. Great value on Sunday morning. Save for this it would be 5 stars.

I was impressed with the safety briefing given to what looked like some relatively inexperienced paddle boarders this afternoon. You can also hire kyaks, inline skates & bikes if paddle boarding scares you. Climbing wall for a challenge too

We went here on Saturday... All the boys had so much fun. I can’t believe a recreation so fun and affordable was right under our nose and we didn’t realize.. We will now be regulars and sing your praises. Thank you for your help and friendly emails prior to our event.

I enjoy renting Kayaks here BUT one time we went out and the wind meant it was frankly dangerous. I think In that case we shouldn’t have been allowed out.

Good rock climbing gym, with interesting boulders and lead climbs. The top rope area is nice for beginners, but after climbing for 6 months it becomes a bit dull. New climbs are infrequent and they tend to be far too easy - they really need more and better 19+ climbs, and ideally a few hard project climbs.

I am replacing a previous 2 star review of Fergs bouldering facilities, as they have upgraded their wall, holds and facilities. The routesetting has improved and it is now a fun and satisfying place to climb. There are still a few of their old holds on the walls, but about 75% are new, and the new wall section is superb.

We enjoyed two hours of active climbing with helpful team. I was glad to find out that the prices are reasonable, and only the climber pays, the person that ballets does not pay. There are variety of walls to challenge yourself, change rooms, and shoes are available for rental if needed.

Great place to learn lead climbing & climbing technique out the back. Lots of natural holds on main gym walls. Only disadvantage: there is no auto-belay if you have no partner. Lots of interesting top rope routes to chose from. All of this as well as being situated on Wellingtons beautiful waterfront!

My kids 3 & 5 were not confident enough to enjoy it, some rock climbing place have easier kids climbing frames. Other family we were with had a great time ages 7-11

If you're a tourist wanting to have some fun climbing then it's probably good but as an actual devoted climber this facility is terrible. Barely any boulder problems up and they were all pretty easy. At least they have a moonboard but only two of the old hold sets. Go to the hangdog gym if you're an experienced climber it looks miles better

I went for a climbing course and it was awesome. The staff was very friendly. The instructor was very supportive and clear in the explanations. A great teacher who gave me all the tools and confidence to want more! Thank you!

Good for climbing after work. Other climbers are often friendly and there's often someone willing to belay with you if you're alone. Kayaking is nice on a good day, but often they're not out due to the wind for 70% of the weekends I've wanted to kayak.

The always friendly and efficient staff at Fergs make it a breeze to swoop in and start an adventure in a kayak. They are friendly but also professional, making sure that you are safe and know where you can and cannot kayak on the harbour. The climbing facilities are also fantastic and cater to a wide range of competencies. Great place to visit!

This review is aiming towards Fergs climbing section. No comment on their kayaking experience. TL,DR Good for beginners! But repetitive, uninspiring and strenuous for intermediate and advanced climbers. The Good Stuff • Great central location • Friendly, helpful staff • Good introduction to climbing, safety gear and safety procedure • Clearly labelled difficulty rating by the feet of top ropes • All top rope walls have inbuilt natural textures that mimic outdoor rock climbing • Clever and crafty bouldering routes • Has a friendly and helpful community of frequent climbers The OK Stuff • No quick access parking. Rely on street parking, or nearby Wilson parking lot • Somewhat awkward belay top-rope device. The industry standard is the Petzl GriGri and the upgrade to it had not been made. • Small bouldering area The Bad Stuff • Reach, reach, reach. All top rope routes have the same theme. 95% of all possible moves are, in one way or another, a reachy problem. It gets old really quickly. Where are the crafty, clever setup? • As of October 2019, there is a lead climbing area which doesn't include any top rope setup. And the top-rope area has no lead climbing bolts in the wall. Making these area mutually exclusive seems like an annoyingly inefficient use of pricey Wellington real estate. • Cramp bouldering area. Moving away from one wall means getting closer to another wall, and closer to someone else's landing zone.

Good place to rock climb or rent a kayak, paddleboard or roller skates for a few hours. They have all the gear you need, including climbing shoes and harnesses. Fregs can get busy at some points, but generally you won't have to wait for climbs.

We climb here several times a week. The routes are a good mix and they change them at least a couple of times a month. It can get quite busy on a weeknight though.

The climbing walls are great. Unfortunately the place is often very busy which makes for a bit of a rat race to get onto a wall which is annoying given the reasonably high entry fee.

Did bouldering there, they have a backpacker discount between certain hours. The bouldering was challenging enough for me but I'm a beginner/intermediate. Bad thing is the rental equipment. The shoes all had massive holes in them
