Vast variety of burgers in their menu. Fast service even on a busy night. Delicious burgers but a bit dry for me. Buns are delicious as well, perfectly cooked. Kumara fries are good and sweet. Will definitely come back and order the other burgers.

Really nice burgers. It's not often you get anything other than salad and tomato as normal veggies in your burgers so I personally loved getting cucumber. We tried all3 kind of fries and everything was really nice. Portions are pretty big too.

Was excited to try this place as we are always looking for a great burger joint. After looking at the reviews we thought it was going to be great but we're left quite disappointed. Burgers were okay, fries we're cold and the extra fries we ordered and paid for wasn't given to us (and didn't know until we opened the bag back home). Given the other exceptional reviews, I would assume this was just an unlucky experience for us.

Busy on Uber cause of the special burger. The menu doesn’t have much variety tbh. Yes there are many burgers but it’s more or less the same with one Ingredient variation... burger tastes good and nice curly fries, I think burger lovers would like this place though.

Ordered the Texan chicky burger. It was alright, the sauces were all over the place, somewhat dry and bland as well & everything felt too much withinin the burger. Was expecting a lot more from this place but would definitely try again. The chips were really fresh and crispy!

The best burgers in Auckland! Had my first non meat burger in 30 years..The Diablo mushroom burger was delicious..Washed down with a Mexican cola,and great sides like..Sweet potato fries 😋

Had the incredible. Was pretty skeptical as I have tried other imitation meat products before but this burger was amazing and tasted like the real deal. Super happy and can't wait for my next one thank you

We have frequented The Flaming Onion for some time now. The burgers are always hot, well seasoned and a good size. The chips are crunchy but they’re all so stubby! At $10.90 for a chicken burger, I feel this is slightly below the market pricing for a similar size burger. I haven’t tried any of the bigger burgers but they look really nice! Note, they charge for paywave here so keep that in mind.

Delicious food and nice&cool beer with a nice view. I was sorry that the beef burger was very dry, but I liked other foods and beer so much that I forgot. Really it's great place.

Came in on Friday and the customer service was lovely! Definitely added to the experience.The food was delightful and having abby serve us just goes to show how customer service can improve your experience! Definitely coming back with my kids and wife :)

Best Burgers in the Auckland. Burger’s are high quality standards nice and creamy I loved it. Menu is so big lots of options available to eat . A specially staff are so friendly. I recommend to try every one

It would absolutely have been 5 stars but sadly most parts of my burger was so undercooked it had blood coming from it. It looked so chuffing good too so tad gutted. Having said that the hand cut chips were amazing and would 100% come back again for the chips alone! they would be 5 stars on their own!

Best burger I’ve ever had in Auckland!Had the classic burger with a side of onion rings and boy did it hit the spot.Perfect ratio of ingredients and the deep fried stuff was so fresh and crunchy!

I have been to many burger joints, this is by far the best, small area to eat so recommend takeaway. Mine had 2 x wagyu, chicken and pulled pork with hash brown and homemade sauce.

We order burgers from Flame Onion at least twice a month. Burgers are always cooked, fresh and delicious. French fries do not belong to this world.

While the Flaming Onion has good burgers, the rating is lowered by the buttermilk fried chicken tenderloins, which are nothing more than a frozen, reconstituted chicken(ish) thing, that I didn’t even bother to eat. Didn’t even have the texture of chicken, as you can see from the picture. The burger was tasty, the buns were fresh, and while I would say it’s one of the better burger options, I won’t be rushing back. Feel free to give it a try, but stay away from the chicken!

Definitely not the best burger I’ve had in my life ( can’t remember which one I had ) but I’d definitely return to explore some of the other options on the menu. FYI: Their curly fries are freakin’ good!

Found my new go-to gourmet burger! Was pretty busy when i got in and took some minutes to get my order done. But thats the way it is! Because everything is cooked fresh and not pre-cooked. Would definitely love to dine in and see those fantastic burgers in the photos come to life! A bit pricey IMHO but would rather support an individually and independently owned business like this than others. Would recommend guys to my colleagues and friends! Thumbs up x4!

This is one fast food place that I will always suggest people to go to. I've gotten so many people hooked on the burgers here, especially once they go onto your Facebook page and look at your weekly burgers and the photos on there.

Best burgers in Auckland for me... small and good burger store, not many seat available but perfect for a take away... service was so much friendly and kind but I was surprised with their burgers... one of my friends insisted to go there and my first impression was not pretty good... but when I tasted The Smokey One I change my mind... perfect burger with caramelized onions, mayo, butters bacon... amazing... fries were tasty as well, so were the onion rings... fresh and warm... I totally enjoyed my food there and I can’t wait to go again soon... 5 stars but if it was possible I would rated them 10... they are doing a great job...

If there was a 4.5 star rating I'd give it that instead. 4 stars seems too low, but 5 stars seems a little high. First off, this place has the best onion rings I have EVER had. And I've had a lot of onion rings! It is worth visiting for the quantity and quality of sides alone. Kumara fries were also great but a little too salty. I cannot stress this enough, GET THE ONION RINGS. The burgers are very good. The buns feel fresh and toasted, and the quality of ingredients is consistently high. My only complaint is the beef patty itself. It was dry and a little bland. My guess is that it was only defrosted recently, or cooked from frozen. Overall, I'll definitely be going again. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu. I'll try the chicken next time! (oh, and my partner says she wishes there was more than one vegetarian option. Butit's a burger place, I understand)

Had the Big Marco, fresh fish and chips (eyes bigger than my stomach I think), buger was big a juicy however not too wet to the point where it made the bun a soggy mess. Fish was fish and tasty, I prefer very lightly battered, I wouldn't call it heavily battered so cannot complain. Staff were very friendly and got me a plate as I decided to eat in. Has to be one of the best burger joints in Auckland.

Good fries and burger. They don't give any sauce with the curly fries which was disappointing. You have to pay some dollars extra for that. The burger had too much meat in it for our liking, but if you love a fat patty then it's perfect. My partner and I enjoyed a nice meal in our car because unfortunately they dont have any seating:/ Still, the burger was delicious and flavorful!

A surprising and welcome addition to the dining experience in browns bay....there are so many Asian food joints here but no place for quality burgers....until now....this place is hidden off main streets serving very large good quality burgers. And from my wait for takeout burger - this place is popular....both dine in and take outs. The only complaint I had was the turnover time....this place is so popular that the shop could not keep up with all the take away + uber eats + dine in orders. If they want to stay in business they need to reassess the scale of their operation....i suppose waiting and hour for the boss burger was well worth it....good quality ingredients.....great quality bacon...with chicken and beef...all in 1 bun

I previously wrote a fairly scathingly negative review of Flaming Onion, based on an experience I had last week of an average burger. Based on this review, the owner reached out to me to try and remedy to situation. He offered a free meal as a ‘second chance’ to try and improve our experience, and we took him up on it to see if there was any improvement. Our first meal had dry and overcooked patties, and unappealing buns. Second burger, the patty was not overcooked (a touch pink in the middle, nice to see), but still quite tough/dry – we were surprised as were expecting a juicy wagyu burger. Not sure what’s going on there, but neither of the sets of burgers we’ve had so far have been juicy. Might be the quality of the beef, or the way it is being prepared. The buns were still a little average, sorry. I’ve pulled up my rating from 1 star to 3 stars to reflect the owner’s efforts to right the situation by providing a free replacement meal. However, I’m still not convinced the food as good as expected based on previous reviews, as well as the fact that the food should be consistent, so our first meal really should have been to a higher standard, and second was only marginally better. I wouldn’t pay this much for these burgers, and I still wouldn’t recommend their burgers generally. *Curly fries delicious in both first and second visits. Yum

This burger joint exceeded my expectation. I came in thinking that the burgers are probably average. The photos look good but taste is meh. How wrong was I. The Texan Chicky I ordered was one of the best chicken burgers if not the best I've ever had. The beef burger that my wife ordered was however not as good. The beef was a tad chewy. I noticed the beef patty was a little thin and maybe this is the cause? I'm not the biggest fan of beef burgers, so I always gravitate towards chicken burgers. The curly fries is so good, it should be made as a compulsory side for ANY burger. I'm definitely coming back to eat there again.

Huge burgers. Amazing flavour combinations. Great sauces. But the beef, which is the most important part, just doesn't deliver. Supposedly they use wagyu but the patties were a little dry and chewy and were simply not as good as other similar burger options around Auckland. With a try but not worth a repeat visit.

Food was amazing, didn't disappoint. I love it. Normal takeaway look and feel. Simple things like not having multiple oil stained pamphlet on counter would improve the look & feel 100x

I never leave reviews but the alone made me want to write one. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and even recommended a burger that did not disappoint. I’m no burger connoisseur but the burgers my partner and I tried were very good. Definitely will come back. Thanks for the hospitality.

Onion rings were really tasty. Ordered online but food was ready before the given pickup time so burger was cold. Only got message saying my order was ready 2 hours later.

Patty was over cooked and bun was stale. It would have been much nicer as a brioche bun. Regardless not a very good classic, not tasty, over sauced and for nearly $17, won’t go again. A good burger joint is Rosiers is glen eden.

Its a different type of take away shop, not the every day eatery. There is limited seating available inside and outside to have your meal. We used a voucher to purchase 2 Burgers for take away. Good Burgers, just very disappointed at the small meat patty on both burgers. If I looked at the the Burgers that 3 people were enjoying outside the eatery, their meat Patty's were visible on both sides of the burgers, definitely bigger than what we received, which I found very disappointing, that is probably why the meals are cheaper than normal because of the voucher we used. Don't know if we will be back.

I have been to the flaming onion three times. Two times in northcote and one time in the city. I have never left unsatisfied. Make no mistake, the karens are out in force on these reviews. Go there, dine in, make your own mind up. But what i can say is I am a burger connoisseur, i have tasted burgers from the finest places in nz and rigorously scrutinised not just the taste, or the ingredients, but also the presentation. While they lack the presentation whilst delivering, this is because of the sheer quantity of ingredients, these burgers are not for skinny people. I must also mention that i have only ever got the bogan, their most expensive burger. This burger ticks all the boxes, its not just a beef burger, its also a chicken burger, a pulled pork burger, a hash brown burger, a cheese burger. You will eventually die eating this burger but you will die happy. And for this reason flaming onion sits at the top of my list for all time best gourmet burgers in nz. This is subject to change as i am trying a beef brisket burger this weekend from island bbq. But for now flaming onion sits on the throne

I have never reviewed before, however this place is so good it deserves a 5 star review. This place is now by far the best burger joint I've come across in recent memory. The place is cheap (relative to burger fuel and such), fast, and tastes incredibly good, if I am being honest it really surprised me from how good it tasted. Definitely a must try w/ curly fries on the side, those were amazing!!

They have a lot of good menu options and have great good things about them. But my chicken burger didn't really blow my mind. Edit: sure will definitely give it a try

Read the reviews and was 50/50 as to order or not, it’s not the worst burger as suggested by some of the reviews but it isn’t the greatest burger either, I would order it again, it was ok and worth a try. I had the classic beef and cheese. Curly fries 10/10

There are by far the best burgers in my life. Taste is unique really good quality and a huge amount of varieties that I‘ve never seen before! The simple Cheeseburger and „The smoked one“ are my favs, but I‘ll go there today again and try a new one! I travelled a lot of countries and tasted a lot of burgers, but that restaurant has an outstanding taste! The staff is really great to. It seems to be a small family owned business, wich make even more fun to go there! A must in Auckalnd!

Legit one of the best burger joints I've ever had. Nice little quaint spot with magnificent views of Auckland City. For what it's worth, it's definitely a burger spot to visit if your a foodie. One thing which was a bit sad was I ordered the Biggest Marco, but ended up getting the Big Marco and charged me extra which was quite sad. Other than that definitely worth a try.

This tiny little burger joint has the best tasting burgers that I have ever eaten in Auckland. Highly recommended. Nicely theme decorated dining area and friendly customer service. Great place to eat, just don't dine in with too many of your friends, since space is limited.

Enjoy the food and efficiency of this business. I live not far away and usually phone order. The person accepting the order can usually give a wait time and most times that is pretty close when I drive there to get my order. The order is well presented in a bag.

We ordered 15 burgers for a work lunch shout, the service was great, very friendly nice people, food was yummy, everyone loved their burgers, they were very generous and gave me 10% off the big order and threw in some cold drinks and sauces for free. I have been coming back to taste the different combinations of fresh ingredients used to compile some pretty epic gourmet burger creations. The burgers are a work of art with how they are constructed, in that they are packed with a bunch of ingredients and somehow manage not disintegrate between your fingers as you eat. The options seem endless and cater to all tastes. There are very few burger joints that get me excited and this is so far my favourite! Well done.

Got the big Marco burger. Massive portion for the price, and the meat taste very authentic and juicy. The chips option might not be very good and should rather go for the kumara and onion rings but overall a great meal out.

This was my first visit here. My burger was really good & messy. I was charged an extra $1 for my burger, but I'm not sure why. If you're going to charge me extra, you should be upfront about it. Maybe it was because I asked for my onions to be cooked instead of raw? I will be returning & checking out some other menu items. Overall a good experience with a lot of unique burgers.

We ordered from ubereats, excited to have a flaming onion open in Browns Bay. However it didn't live up to the original. The burgers were alright but the beef was over cooked and the burgers just weren't that tasty. On top of that, the delivery time was way to long. Took an hour and half for delivery and the poor driver had to wait for about half an hour.

Very quality food is available here. I recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic food, small dining area though so if you plan on going with a group be sure to sort out a location to take your food. The staff recommended me a burger and it was PERFECT for my taste. We had a vegetarian with a large appetite with us and he reckons he could have done with two burgers as the vege burger was way smaller than everything else. The kids were kept happy with curly fries and fish that is way better than your average takeaways, but obviously this place is for the burger lovers. I will be back for sure!

First off: I liked the food, no complaints there. I gave a 3/5 for the following reasons - This is not a dine in restaurant, purely takeaway. They dont present themselves as a dine in restaurant so it isn't the end of the world - There are too many burgers on the menu, I understand that their main selling point are the burgers but it can be quite overwhelming to see the options, perhaps adopting a business model of adding to a burger and having 5-7 preset options could be more ideal. - The price: I paid alot for the meal I got and considering the portion size, I did not feel it was appropriate, someone may say otherwise but that is my observation. I understand the location needs to be considered but bringing up the point of it not being a dine in restaurant. This somewhat aligns with that point.

Not only is the food incredibly quick and well made, but these lovely folk were happy to take a decently large order 10mins before closing and even give us extra chips! Wonderful service and highly recommend!

We'd heard about this place through a friend and decided to give it a crack. I was one of the most painfully annoying kind of clients - phoning from the car, 5 minutes before closing with no idea of what I wanted or what was on the menu. The lady on the phone was outstanding and with simple instructions like "I like blue cheese and my husband eats like a football team" she recommended us options that were perfect. Of course it would be helpful if I could remember what we ended up with! Needless to say, I got blue cheese and hubby got lots! The shop is a funky venue with retro decor and prints on the wall. The staff were happy, friendly and actually appeared to be enjoying themselves - not a psycho, knife wielding chef in sight. The service was fast and super efficient. 2 things kept this from being a 5*. Firstly, if you pay (I think) $9 for Kumara chips, it would be nice if the aioli was included instead of extra. 2nd, sadly the bund, though huge, were a little stale. Generous sized portions though and we'll no doubt be back.

A quaint little takeaway joint with great food and a nice atmosphere. My wife and I went here as part 1 of our date night. I had a chicken burger and my wife had a Wagyu beef burger, and we got fries too. The meal came to about $32. We decided to eat the food there as a table opened up. The food took about 10 mins to arrive. Nothing to complain about there. There were constantly people coming and going, which is always a good sign. The view of the Harbour Bridge and the City is beautiful at night time! Great place to visit, and we will be back here again. Would reccomend

Got the 23$ option. Presentation was top notch. Patties should have been flaming hot but to my disappointment it was quite cold/lukewarm. That was a big put off for me. But overall I would easily give this 3/5. The fries was horrible though. I could taste the oil in the fries was a bit old and it had a meaty taste to it which was a bit of a put off..

Food is amazing! 90% chance it will be late, 70% chance they will forget part of your order. 85% chance it will be cold if using food delivery apps. Would recommend the simple small burgers, the crazy ones are no better.

Highly recommended. Have tried half their menu, never disappointed. For chicken lovers - Texas Chicky, look no further. Thats my favourite. For beef - All of them are really good. The patties are real juicy And dont forget to try the Fish burger. Made with fresh fish of the day and some unique buns with some seeds on it (dont know what the seeds are) Overall the place is really good, clean and has one of the best views of the Harbour bridge. Best time to visit is during sunset. The place has also got Ben N Jerrys fridge - best option for a dessert after having a Burger. The staff provides an exceptional service.

Has to be the best burgers we've had for a long time. I never used to eat takeaways but since this place has opened it seems to be a regular weekly event. Have had amazing burgers of the week, tasty rosti potatoes, foldover steak sandwiches and delicious snapper & chips. Being a local shop makes it even easier, but in reality it's only 6-8 minutes from the city. Yum!!

One of the best burgers in Auckland.

I wanted to enjoy this but was a little underwhelmed. I ordered the 'bronx' and fries. The beef patty was dry. I was excited at the gourmet looking buns but truth be told they were flat and soggy. I also disagree strongly with the choice of mesclun leaves over iceberg lettuce. You cannot bite through the wilted mesclun leaves and end up pulling out long soggy leaves with each bite. I miss the crunch of a good bit of iceberg. Aside from this the fries were good and crispy and you get heaps for not a lot of coin. Will give this place 1 more crack, I'm hoping this experience was a one off.

Heard a lot of great things about The Flaming Onion recently. Went there to try out their Burgers and Fresh Fish. They have nt disappointed us. The Bronx burger was great and Fish was Amazing with light battered. I would definitely recommend this to everyone Don't forget to order their kumara fries they are the best .

Dont be fooled by the pictures which don't look that amazing. This is a local burger place, that is specialising in the taste (not how hipster everything looks). They do some great specials each week. The bun is simple - step above store bought, step below brioche or milk bun, however it holds together all the ingredients well. The meat is perfect. I had the premium wagyu. It was around 1.5cm thick. This allows for that great crust to make up the bulk of the burger. Personally, id order a double next time, but I cant fault the flavour or texture. The toppings are creative and generous but dont overpower the star, which is that patty.

Can be long waits when busy. Last order took 1.5 hours, despite the app saying 30 minutes. Suggest ringing to check wait time before ordering.

In my continuing quest to find and try the best burgers in Auckland, found another top 5. The Flaming Onion. Started w their burger of the week which is just insane haha: 2x waygu beef topped with 2x maple smoked streaky bacon, 1x panko crumbed chicken tenderloin, 2x american smoked cheddar, 1x hash brown with sauteed onions, peri-peri mayo, and BBQ. 😮🤤. So good. Counter service staff is super friendly. Decent street parking. Few seats inside too
