An amazing selection of different types of fish to choose from to take home to cook and they also do fish and chips and you can buy fish and have them cook it for you. Or you can choose from there own selected fish of the day. I had crumbed grapper which was awesome. And their chips are very good to.

Have always found customer service great. Mainly buy fresh blue cod (if they have it) which is great , tried salmon which had a lot of bones and was pretty average flavour like the supermarket stuff. Partner said fish and chips are average.

Top quality fresh fish, I come here all the time and never had a bad piece of fish. Not tried the fish and chips as it's not my thing really but recommend the fresh fish very highly, good prices too.

They have a good variety of fish. Location is so easy to access. However their customer service was never all that good. If we ask them to cut the fish into small pieces they just cut them to what ever size they want to. I felt disappointed because that happened atleast 3 times to me. Prices are reasonable tough.

We often get our whole fish fried with chips. GG has never failed to provide us with the best cooked fish and chips. She has been a delightful person at the counter over the many many years we have frequented Theo’s fisheries. Kudos to GG and Theo’s.

Best fish shop in Christchurch. It is more than fresh fish shop. It is place to engage in staff who are train to do best in fish business. If you need fresh fish or lobster only one place in Christchurch. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bought a 5kg block of Chinese frozen squid and took 4 tubes out and let them defrost overnight in the refrigerator. Cut them into rings and dipped in rice flour and salt and pepper batter. Absolutely sensational!

The fish and chips from theos have always been of the highest quality. I have been coming here for years to get takeaways and the quality has always stayed the same. Would recommend.

Good chips and good fish (although I had crumbs instead of batter). Definitely too many chips for one person (and that was small); this may be a plus for you. Tomato sauce is charged for separately, and, on top of that outrageously. This may be a good thing since it makes it harder to eat all the chips.

I visited Christchurch for a job from Brisbane Australia. It had been a long time since I had good fish and chips and I got the opportunity to go to Theos Fisheries. As it turns out I stayed in Christchurch for a month and made sure I went to Theos at least once every couple of days. Theos is generous with portion sizes and I always had a great meal. Thank you and I would totally recommend!!!!

Place is clean and filled with histories about the store. Only ordered fish and chips here. Never tried anything else. The fish is good and the portion is quite big compared to others reasonable for its price and cooked the best compared to other stores that offer the same kind and price. Chips is huge and well seasoned. Probably my favourite chips in Christchurch as it tastes fresh and not processed. Definitely should try em out if you are in Christchurch.

Used to be our go to place for fish and Chip when living in Chistchurch the fish n chips were amazing. Great fresh fish selection you name it they have it. But very disappointed yesterday when purchased a whole fresh fish to get it home and see what a poor job had been done cleaning it.

The customer service is great, I always find myself chatting with the friendly staff and the fish is, overall, good. Unfortunately, like for the whole nz fish market, there is no variety of fish which, overall it's good enough but nothing outstanding... Often you may end up getting addressed to get frozen mussels or shrimps or prawns which are well known for being tasteless... I really don't know what's wrong with frozen food in nz, why is it tasteless? And, if they don't have what you are looking for, you may also be addressed to check the Pack & Save in the Riccarton mall... A fish store which send you to the local P&S... Where I am from, a fish store has way more than the nearby supermarket....

Went into Fish n Chip Shop a couple of days ago and was served by the older lady with dark hair and big brown eyes. She had a big smile and asked me for my order. The fish n chips were amazing and had been cooked by her. She was so lovely and accomodating that I wouldn't hesitate coming back. I believe in giving credit where its due. Shes a lovely person.

The best fish shop in the south island maybe all of N.Z I think anyway my friends here will go out of their way to give you the bes. All their goods are fresh fresh and the taste of hot fish and chips from Theo's is a treat you must try. I give Theo's five stars because well you all give them a try and see why.....

Great range of fish and cuts/fillets. Price is tending towards the expensive end but worth the value for their size cuts, freshness and availability. They have a fish and chip shop that serves very fresh fillets – our favourite as they don't tend to have "fishy" smell. Prices are very reasonable too. The shop is always in pristine and clean condition. Customer service is excellent and always service with a smile. The shop Ample parking spaces at the back of the shop for those driving.

Not sure what all the negative comments are about. My wife and I stumbled across this place whilst staying in the B&B in the area. The staff is super friendly and chatty. We were immediately greeted with a very warm welcome on arrival. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We couldn’t buy any fish as we didn’t have a fridge or cooking facilities at the hotel, and no one was pushing us to buy anything. Why would people comment the staff are pushy? We found them all very friendly and lovely. We came back later in the evening for some fish and chips. Honestly I don’t know how you guys make money!! The fish and chips are $2.50 each, so the meal would cost you a $5!!! The portions are enormous!! We couldn’t finish ours, one portion would have easily fed us both! We ordered the house fish, but you could have ordered any fish from the counter. We have been served by a very friendly chappy and our food looked and tasted great! We really enjoyed it! Thank you for our lovely meal and for your friendly hospitality. We will definitely come back when we are in Christchurch again.

They are popular. Near the ANZ bank close to Westfield Riccarton mall. At the distance u can notice "Theos" arranged to a shape of a fish but if u are walking on the pavement, u wouldhardly notice that. Instead u will notice Fish & chips. They will clean ur fish but they leave u some work to be done.. u will have to slice the fish ur self. They do it to some customers but not for some. The customer who bought a big whole fish could get it cleaned and sliced. But I bought 3 medium size fish which they only cleaned.

Theo's are great! One of the best in town! Always plenty of fresh fish and the staff are always friendly! Sometimes the batter can be a bit soggy if you leave them a while before eating. Best eaten straight away to enjoy them most

Lived in the neighbourhood for 5 years. We visited Theo’s once a month for takeaway fish and chips. Reasonable prices and never disappointed. Fresh fish and other seafood are available as well. You can even call ahead and your order will be ready when you get there.

They have a few options here that means you can pick fish that isn't over farmed. We had crumbed fish wish was delicious. Staff were very welcoming and we loved how clean everything was. Would happily visit again.

Can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Some days we would get really high quality fish and some days the fish doesn't taste as fresh.

Good place ti buy fresh one

I know they have great fish. But this day we got fish and chips. Sitting in there waiting with the smell of fish was overwhelming. We took our fncs to the botanical gardens and ate them on the Riverside. Sadly the fish was so greasy and undercooked it broke through the paper wrapping. And they only used one or maybe two bits of news print. The whole thing was a greasy mess.

One of the best fish and chips restaurants i ve been to, with lots of seafood selections to be freshly fried (or cooked in other ways), great value for money as well, mainly takeaways but eating environment pleasant too. Finally, the paper wrapping is quite a surprise and this alone beats many of its British counterparts!
