I have had my fair share of takeaways while traveling our country. Must say, this is one of the best. A true bacon and egg burger. Not spoiled by lettuce and rabbit tucker. Real meat patties. Good sized everything, and a fluffy but crunchy batter. Top job.

Had an incredible burger (the best thing we ate in Picton) here the first time and the chips were nice and crispy. Sadly, the second time the bun was different and not as good. They've since said they ran out of the original buns which explains the last minute change. We found their time-frames on both occasions unrealistic. We don't mind a 1-hour wait, but would love to know in advance next time so we can sit by the beach or grab a drink. Will give another go next time we're in Picton.

Great little takeaway joint with inexpensive burgers with nice fresh, salad and meaty patties. Probably the best option for dinner in Picton, especially in high season and everywhere else is a 1 hour wait for a table and double the price for average food. Highly recommend ordering ahead of time, so you dont have to wait out in the cold.

Had just a mussel fritter because im cautious of lousy takeaways in NZ anyway It was homemade nicely seasoned and tasty. Edited came back for dinner even though i wasnt especially hungry, I had kumara chips fish of the day and another mussel fritter enjoyed all of it A+. I'd go so far as to say their mussel fritter is a must have when visiting picton. Also this is now my favorite fish n chip shop in NZ...ill be back

Very good take away fish and chips. This place was full of locals, which is always a good sign. Chips tasted fresh and were well cooked. All the fish we ordered was really yum, and fresh. Quite a bit of variety, and the prices are inexpensive. The wife and I pigged out on a heap of fish, and it only cost as $20 total. I took some photos of the menu, take a look. There is 3 family size tables, you can eat in if you want, but it's a bit more of a take away joint.

We rang to order some fish and chips, but they were already closed. However the owner was still there and offered to do our takeaway. She made fresh batter and reheated the oil. When we picked it up she said that she had a number of smallish pieces of fish left and did them all (6) for us , even tho we only ordered 2. The batter was crispy and crunchy and everything we had was delicious. We appreciated her going out of her way for us and that service will encourage us back. Thanks

Great BURGERS!! And very good fish and chips! I had the chicken cranberry burger- delicious!! Very big though- so be prepared! Also if you think that was big you’ll be in for a surprise as my son had an even bigger burger! He’s 12 and ate the Fergie. Same as my husband. Very big burgers! My dad had the tarakihi- he said it was yum. My 9 year old had the kids burger. Highly recommend getting the kids burger if you are an adult too. It looked yum! Home made patties. We shared one scoop of chips and that was plenty! Recommend allowing time to visit Shia Shia’s! We ate before our ferry crossing.

I ordered 1/2 scoop of chips & 1 fish of the day (Elephant fish) for my lunch. The staff were courteous and pleasant and the meal well priced. The chips were just so nice, crispy on the outside & soft in the centre, as was the fish and batter. The taste was great and nothing was too oily or too dry. The portions were so generous I could not eat it all. There was cutlery, napkins, condiments and inside/outside tables for those who needed them. Sauces were available for a nominal fee. Overall, the best fish and chips I have had for a very long time. I will be back.

The best burger I have had in years...home made pattie and wonderful salad and oozing with flavour. The chips were well cooked, not greasy, and some yummy crunchy bits. It was very popular which is a good sign. Despite being so busy the staff were very cheerful.

The best fish and chips! Not the best I've had. Over cooked and not drained properly. For the overpriced cost it was disappointing. Further to this the two young ladies on duty were far from friendly to the point of being very abrupt. Plenty of room for improvement. BUT...... Shai was immediately on the phone to me and expressed her disappointment at my experience and has put things right. Thanks Shai.

It's always a gamble trying new fish and chip places and this place turned out to be awesome. Lovely clean fresh food, light and crispy batter on the fish and the chips were cooked perfectly. We got The Fergie Burger, The Ethan Burger, a Gurnard, a Terakihi and half scoop of chips.... Well.... It's been a long time since we have had anything remotely as nice in The North Island.... Great fried fish and chips. Both well cooked and very crisp and dry. Obviously well used by Picton's residents which is a good sign. Good choice of fish types plus various burgers. Also chocolate wrap, which I really should have tried!

Stopped for the traditional fish and chips after the ferr crossing and was not disappointed. The fish was fresh and the kumera chips were to die for. That along with the friendly staff made Shais our new favourite. Well done to the team, fantastic food.

Lovely people and food was okay. Was told it would be a 20 minute wait but it was nearly 50! And they kept telling people 20... In all fairness, it was extremely busy, but honesty is better as we could have taken the tired, hungry kids elsewhere.

Was up in Picton over the new year and honestly this has to be the best fish & chips I've had in a long time. Inlaws were very impressed and they travel all over the south Island and can be hard to please. Chips are crunchy but soft on the inside and the fish was fresh. The hotdogs were massive. Would definitely be my go to fish & chip shop when in picton.

For chips, a kids burger - yum!!!!! Burger was really good - simple and quite sufficient for an adult too - and thr chips were lovely n crisp, fluffy inside - good flavour - nice! Highly recommend! And lovely staff too... id travel from Blenheim for this food.....

Nice place but average food. Overrated. In seafood basket there is more fake crab sticks than anything else. If you are from Mediterranean, stay away from mussels and calamar. Basically get your fish and chips.

We had a Beautiful feed of Wedges and Fish and a Springroll here last week and can honestly say it was the best we've tasted anywhere in ages. The whole feed was not greasy, wedges very tasty, fish was fresh, melt in the mouth and coated in a tasty, crispy but light batter, just delicious as was the springroll. Would highly recommend!!! ...and the friendliest staff.

(Translated) Muscle Free JMT!! The fish tempura dough is similar to tempura dough, so it is very crispy. It took about 15 minutes to get it to the house after packing, but it was crispy the whole time I ate it. Even though I had half of Kumara chips, the quantity was huge. Corn, jalapeño, and cheese bites are just okay... I want to pack up a bunch of muscle fritters and take them home. (Original) 머슬프리터 JMT!! 생선 튀김반죽도 템푸라반죽 비슷해서 엄청 바삭해요. 포장해서숙소오는데 15분정도 걸렸는데도 먹는내내바삭하더라고요. 쿠마라 칩 하프 시켰는데도 양이 엄청나요. 콘,할라피뇨,치즈바이트는 그냥저냥... 머슬 프리터는 잔뜩 포장해서 집 가져가고 싶음.
