Reviews of Fergburger
E.
I visited this burger shop today. I ordered pork belly burger. It is huge. Ingredients are so fresh. Pork belly is quite thick. It is so great and yummy. Burger taste is not strong but so good.. Bun size is quite big enough and so soft. Interior is quite unique. Highly recommended.
R.
All the Hype is well found... we do not eat Beef or Pork, and ate the chicken varieties.. they blew our mind.
Staff is very welcoming and well spoken, specially the girl at reception.
Shakes were refreshing and smooth. Fries were well done and rustic but crisp 👌.
Recommend highly! ❤ no wonder so many people love this place. Hope they continue the way they are doing. Enjoyed our family time thoroughly!

This is THE best burger joint in NZ imho.
I’ve been coming back to Queenstown for 5 years just so I could eat at Fergburger.
Prices have increased from the past but even so, it remains one of the most affordable and best tasting burger joint in Queenstown. After covid, the queues have slowed down from the lack of tourists which can be a plus or minus for you.
Burgers are still fantastic. Tastes as good as it was and portion size is as generous and consistent as it was. For clarity, I’ve eaten at Fergburger in 2016,2017,2018,2019 and 2022.
What I do feel is that covid may have robbed it of some of its soul. The staff I remembered from 2016-2019 were energetic, happy and food was being made all the time. The meat had an awesome charred taste as well. In 2022, staff were still friendly but maybe because there’s less of a queue and less staff, it felt quiet and the meat was well cooked, but lacked the charred taste. That’s my two cents.
Having said that, still my go to burger joint in Queenstown and would definitely still eat there whenever I’m back. I’m jealous of those who have not tried and get to experience it for the first time.
L.
The burgers I ordered were good and rich in flavour, worth the price despite usually a long queue to order and about ten minutes wait for it to be done. Comfortable place to stay and eat.
L.
Ordered 5 burgers via phone for pick-up tonight and only took 20 minutes! The restaurant wasn't too quiet around 5.30 but got very busy around 6. I suggest ordering ahead or going earlier than 6 to avoid the crowd. Huge menu with some veggie options lamb, beef, chicken and fish. Cod sandwich was great.
Also ordered 2 milkshakes - the strawberry one was delicious. You must visit this place when you go to queenstown.
s.
Fun experience, but the burger itself is mediocre. Queueing is actually part of the joy and taking your burger down to eat on the lake front is incredible. Ordered the Fergburger which you think would be the best given the name, but the meat is average and poorly cooked. I ended up taking the pattie out and replacing it with the calamari sides which tasted way better.
W.
When in Queenstown, I had to at least try Fergburger once. If you don't want to wait like me, go like 10am for breakfast/brunch. I ordered the Fergburger Deluxe and it was delicious and reasonably priced. You can also make a phone order instead of queuing to order
J.
A Queenstown institution!
Arguably the best burgers in the universe!
Sure more often than not you have to wait in a long line but it is so worth it!
The burgers are delicious and super reasonably priced for the serving size.
Always a good time
S.
I'm not a fan of burgers and I wasn't going to try these as thought is over-rated. However, hubby got me to buy a beef burger. I was very impressed with the beef patty quality and the fresh tomatoes and lettuce. In summary, burger quality is delicious with affordable cost and service speed.
A.
Ordered the Dawn Horn. It was yummy but very difficult to eat so I wasn't really able to fully enjoy it. Buns were nice and fresh and pricing was reasonable. I usually feel sick and can't finish burgers but this one was nice and fresh and didn't make me feel sick. Lower rating only because the way it was put together made it very difficult to eat.
K.
I came here expecting too much.
From what I've heard about this place and my partner has been wanting to come here for the last 5+ years, I was imagining what all the hype was about and then I got here and waited in the que, that waxed and waned, got up to the counter and energetically ordered my burger.
The atmosphere was amazing, everyone eating and waiting patiently for their meal.
When my turn came and I saw what I was going to have it looked like any regular burger from an average takeaways. And then I had my first bite and it was just. Just not what I hoped it would be like, and there was just too much bread. I don't remember ordering a burger inside a loaf?
I will say that I did have a good time and the experience of going to somewhere so legendary did make it feel alot better than it could have been.
L.
This place is iconic for a reason. Authentic fresh flavours and the burger patties were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy and the flavour is unique. Even the onion rings and chips was packed with flavour. I wouldn’t mind traveling to Queenstown only for the burger
K.
Big sized buns, so yumm 😋!
Its popular and had a que both times we had these amazing burgers. Worth waiting for.
From order to be ready even though busy 10min. Can highly recommend the cockadoodle oink and both morning options.
J.
I've never been mad about the hype surrounding this place and the crowds. BUT today was not very busy and we got delicious burgers. They really are excellent. Fish burger not that great but cheeseburger was fabulous.
S.
The quintessential stop when you are in Queenstown.
Best burgers on the planet and I've eaten all around the world as a semi professional burger taster.
Pics don't do it justice.
This is the place people!
V.
Tried their beef burger and tofu burger, both were delicious! You can eat at the park near the store to treat yourself with amazing scenery!
M.
We loved our burgers eventhough had to wait about half an hour... Probably will try to get them a call to avoid the queue but we'll worth.... If I wanna choose another reason to visit QT, Fergburger will be one out of 5 😉
R.
I've been here many times and it is a go-to whenever I'm in Queenstown. Don't be put off by the queue - division of labour is a machine here. This time I ordered the Codfather and a strawberry shake. A good burger (especially that sauce - was it dill or was it tartare or was it some other herb? I should've asked!) but I think it would be elevated with panko crumbed fish OR a panko crumbed version could be added to the menu. I would dub it The Crumbed Father. Anywho, I'll always go back here and can't wait for my next Fergburger fix. The shake was shakin' too!
r.
Ordered Ferg Deluxe and Chief Wiggum as we are curious of the long queue all the time, very nice burger with fresh vegetable, juicy beef (for the Ferg Deluxe), crunchy pork (for the Chief Wiggum), which is comparable to other burgers but the sauce for the Ferg Deluxe is something that makes it stand out and more tasty. And also you can check the queue number that's ready for pickup from their website.
H.
After ever person who found out we were going to Queenstown told us to come here and get a burger to get one, we knew we had to.
8am we got there and people were already 4 people waiting!!
However I got a vegan burger and it was to die for. We knew that with the hype we had to enjoy it the right way. We drove a few minutes up the hill. Got out the car and watched the sun rise with burgers and shake for breakfast!
Z.
We loved this place. Had a Big Al and the Sweet Bambi and enjoyed both. Get the wasabi mayo with your fries and you won't regret it.
Food was ready really quick and we were lucky to grab a table inside.
Defo a place to visit if you're going through Queenstown.
A.
I found it okay in all honesty. The lines are pretty long and I think the hype is what attracts people. The burgers are large so that's cool but you're wallet will feel it. The hot chocolates are so good though so worth getting on a cold day. Nevertheless, if you're new to QT and want to grab something here be prepared for a wait is all!
A.
Fergburger is a Queenstown institution. If you haven't had a burger from there it is a must do while you are in Queenstown. They have a large range of burgers to suit everyone's tastes and a range of sides and drink options to go with your burger. It can get a little busy in there at times but you can grab a beer nextdoor at Ferg Bar while you wait for your burger. I usually order my burger over the phone and pick it up on my way to the waterfront where I have my dinner with a view. Superb! Desert options are available next door at Ferg Bakery or Mrs Ferg Gelato.
J.
I wasn't really sure about the whole Ferg hype when I visited the first time a few years back but when I went back this time, I can comfortably say that they have the best beef burger in NZ. The flavour from the beef, being cooked in flame was amazing and also the steak burger was as good as the beef burger. You must have these as soon as you get them; the burger somehow stayed hot from start to finish which was something I've never experienced before.
D.
It's as good as they say. Photo doesn't do it justice but the flavors and textures of this burger are worth the wait. Can't say best burger in the world but definitely best one in New Zealand. Very juicy, fresh, and suprisingly unique.
E.
Is this place really worth the line?
Maybe but not for the vegan burger. Tasted average. Personally for me not worth the hype at all.
M.
DO NOT EAT HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT
I visited here almost ten years ago and while looking for lunch I found Fergburger. There...I had the best burger of my life. I've never had any meal that tasted as fresh, as succulent, as delicious as here. I ate there every day until I left. Little did I know how much of a mistake I had made.
You see, it is STILL the best burger of my life. All other burgers, no matter how good, are garbage compared to a Fergburger burger. I've tried many places over the world, and nothing still compares. Fergburger ruined all other burger for me.
So I'm warning you; don't eat here unless you live here. Once you've experienced perfection, the world becomes a duller place.
S.
As you know, it was a famous burger place before I visited, so it was the most anticipated part of my trip, and it was literally delicious. Even the smell was extraordinarily delicious when I packed it. The meat patty is juice and thick patty were a good match for barbecue sauce and mayonnaise. The size is like eating two big Macs. It wasn't on the schedule, but I canceled my dinner the next day and had another pug burger wrapped. It's delicious even when it's not warm👍💓💓
T.
If this isn’t the best burger I’ve had in my life, I don’t know what is. Gahd dayum this burger is so juicy and tender. You’re in for a long wait when you go, so allow extra time for that, but I, among many others, would tell you it’s worth the wait and a must try in Queenstown. I dream about this burger.
D.
What they say about this place is true the burger i had was amazing first had the ferg deluxe. Then another time I had the sweet Bambi It didn't have an overpowering beef smell, toppings were just right having along with the sauce was just the correct amount. The patty was juicy and the flavours really play out well. I can tell how much love gets put into the food. Love this place.
M. S.
Honestly the best burger place in the entire world! They have an incredible selection of food and everything is made so fresh. The bun is excellent and the veggies are great. My favourite one is the Little Lamby, no other burger like it!
For someone who is gluten free, they take great care to make sure they make it separately and the gluten free bun is super delicious too!! Highly recommend!
D.
Awesome burgers - 3 very happy customers here! We had the Fergburger, Southern Swine and the Mr Big Stuff. All were high quality and very tasty. Always worth the line here!
J.
Huge and Delicious burger!
Not much long waiting line, had the burger in 10mins👌
D.
One of the best burgers l've ever had. The Fergburger double beef & cheese was my favorite.
l.
Obviously they're the best when it comes to burgers, but we also ordered the calamari and it was less than average. Sauce was yuck and calamari itself wasn't that tasty or crunchy.
E.
The always Bzbz shop! Call beforehand if you don’t want to wait for 30mins during bz time. I have tried their sweet Bambi venison burger and I don’t really like it as the venison smell is pretty strong for me. All their burgers are huge and there’s always long line during the day. They open till pretty late like 4am in the morning so no worries when you stay up late and keen for some snacks. Their onion ring with aioli is good as well. Steak burger, mr big stuff, tropical swine(with pineapple) are decent as well. I’m getting their big AL tonight as I really want to try their juicy beef patty. Don’t mind trying also their donuts/pies and croissant from the fergbaker next door!
X.
I didn't have to wait very long (10-15min) on both a Sat and Mon nearing lunch time. Burgers are big. Deluxe was a little too overwhelming for me, the original Fergburger would have been just nice. Cajun chicken patty was way too salty. Nevertheless, still a must-visit place when you're here. Drop by next door bakery for the Boston cream donut - that's divine!!
A.
2nd time to this ever delicious burger only in ZQN, always jump packed anytime of the day, has to be patient to wait on the queue but worth it, see you again ✅
T.
Amazing burgers definitely worth calling ahead to place your order so you can pick it up from the outside window. The burgers are MASSIVE and really filling that we didn't barely got through our sides. Well worth the visit if you're looking for an amazing feast!!!
J.
This place was amazing when we first visited 17 years ago, and it still is today! Delicious gigantic burgers. Well worth the 15 min wait - this place is an institution after all.
And good on the management and staff for upholding covid regs and doing their bit to keep everyone safe (even if copping some flack from the pro-choice gang)
R.
Friendly team. No queue, served straight away 10-15 min wait. Went with Bombay Chicken, No squid rings, went with fries and Wasabi mayo. Looking forward to it
J.
My boyfriend thought this place would be one of them overhyped joints… but it really does live up to the hype! The burgers are great. And the line wasn’t too long, but we had to wait 10/15mins for the food, we were warned of this before we ordered tho and we didn’t mind. There are seats outside to wait and a screen with order numbers for ready to collect meals - it was a good system.
But the “salt and pepper squid” is actually just calamari, so keep that in mind.
J.
The Best Burger Joint in the Country!!! Line was out the door, a 15 minute wait but we'll worth it! The outdoor heaters are a nice touch so you're not waiting in the cold. Highly recommend the Fergburger!
M.
There's a bit of hype around this place, so I wanted to see it for myself. I was pretty pleased with the food here - the portions were big! It was crazy busy though. The fries were particularly good and I have been told they are fresh, not frozen.
A.
Best chips we've ever had. Burgers were ok! The beef on mine was a bit cold and dry when I ate it. Same thing for my wife's burger. The onion rings were a let down. Undercooked and the batter was not nice at all.
Tried it another day and went for something different. The steak burger was good! However the venison burger not so much (the ingredients were not evenly placed on the burger. You could tell they were assembled in a rushed manner and sauces were clumped too much on one side).
The staff were quick and efficient and always had everything adequately packed in the bags.
J.
Fergburger is the most famous place in Queenstown, but the burgers are not as good as they say. Don't get me wrong they are tasty but I had better. Queue can be long but nothing to bad at least in my experience.
G.
Had a big al, hugeeee, but so good. Not greasy cooked to perfection, 100% recommend
D.
Chief Wiggum burger is AMAZING!!! If you like pork belly, you will love this burger :) highly recommend!!! Yummy!!
C.
Both chicken and fish (forgot name)are delicious. I feel better than bambi
Day 2
Beef is good
P.
Good range of burgers, excellent size, the filling is the best anywhere perfect with real meat. Awesome place the staff were very helpful and polite in choosing. Tables inside and outside. Great Coffee and range of bread s nextdoor..
M.
My initial review has disappeared, came here about a month ago for the 2nd time whilst visiting Queenstown over the years.
Although my partner enjoys the burgers here, I unfortunately am not a big fan. I personally prefer burgers with a softer bun. Flavour-wise they are good, just personal preference. These burgers remind me of a ‘milk bar type’ burger with a sesame seed bun. Chips were ok.
We were lucky to find seats & although the wait for the food wasn’t overly long, I’m not a fan of people watching you whilst you eat as they are waiting in line.
T.
Awesome food amazing burgers looks small in picture but its not
L.
A good all round burger place not five stars as your wait times normally pretty long.
Best order online and pickup.
Also need to be on a delivery service.
Devil burger is and is definitely on par with ferg
L.
We heard that Fergburger is a must try if you go to Queenstown. So we go there to try when we first arrived in Queenstown. Even though there was a queue and the place is quite packed but the service is efficient and fairly fast. The burgers was superb. We all love the burgers.
I.
Was lucky enough to order when there wasn't a huge queue out the door. The fish burger (Codfather) was large and filling. Fresh fish and ingredients used, could definitely taste that.
The Cockle doodle Oink burger (chicken burger) with lettuce and bacon was also a goodie. Again you won't go hungry after these burgers. Fries were thin and tasty but after the burgers they weren't needed. Would eat here again and try something else from the extensive menu.
R.
Very considerate with food allergies and helpful staff! Ferg Deluxe tasted decent but did not exceed expectations
P.
Delicious. The buns are fluffy, the burger is juicy, and the condiments were fresh. The queue went really quick. We'll be back to try other burgers on the menu.
J.
Huge Falafel burger was mint, nice and saucy too. 9/10
D.
Ordered the Chief Wiggum, Pork was not as succulent as it couldve been and a little dry. Fries were great as always.
J.
Nice burgers and busy as. I think maybe because it's my first time buying for myself the experience of asking for an additional paper bag when collecting the takeout got a frown and not so polite frontliner(maybe she had a bad day) otherwise keep up the good work
J.
Righto, let’s be clear, it’s not the “best burger in the world”… but, IT IS the best burger this side of the world, for a few reasons.
The bun is freshly baked and soft, the ingredients are tasty and the experience is like no other!!!
Just get it and enjoy 🍔
C.
The burgers 🍔 & fries 🍟 are good but you don’t feel very welcome making an order. Making an order feels more like coursing „circumstances“. No “Hello” or “thank you” ... this days it’s only “can I see your vaccine pass” 😀
K.
You haven't been in Queenstown if you don't eat Fergburger. Best burger I've ever eaten. Seriously.
U.
the taste you get is worth the wait you have to do. tastiest burgers specially Beef one 😋
S.
Simply loved it. They do Halal chicken and the Bombay Chicken on menu was great.
N.
Good burger, I accidentally ordered the pork belly (Chief Wiggam I think it was called?) expecting pulled pork, my bad - should read the menu properly! Wasn't the easiest thing to eat as the slices of pork were hard to chomp through so it got pretty messy but overall happy with the ratios, flavours & value for money. Highlight was the fries!!
V.
The wait was worth it.
Mulled wine was a great combo with my burger on a very cold day
Q.
It was our first time to this famous place and we ordered the Ferg Delux and the codfather. Both were great. Not a long line to wait for current season.
C.
Fergburger never seems to disappoint with their great tasting burgers. Consistency is key and they do it well. It feels good to support local business during this time. Keep it up.
A.
If you're waiting more than 10 minutes save your time and go somewhere else. Average uninspired burgers with plain flavours and all served on the dry side will leave you wondering why you paid so much in time and money when you can get more competitive options nearby for a better price.
P.
Good burger no doubt. The reputation of the best burger may increase the expectation and let you down a bit. 1000 customers a day may be a good indication of success. It is a must do in Queenstown.
N.
It makes sense why everyone recommends to come to here when in Queenstown! A MUST TRY! Different filling options of burger (chicken, beef, lamb, deer, pork belly, tofu..), huge amount enough to feed a hungry person. Price is amazingly reasonable.
B.
Very nice burgers 4 of us had one and we all enjoyed them. Easy to order on line, and have ready for you to pick up, as they do get busy at times
H.
Got their most popular burger which tastes good but doesn't justify the wait involved. Would go again if there're more sitting areas and less crowded.
A.
Lots of hype for this place, big queues and not much social distancing. Burger is very average compared to the likes of Burger Fuel. They still did vax-passport checks which is very cool despite how busy they were.
H.
Delicious burgers. Their reputation is deserved!
J.
Top quality burgers very fair pricing. Same pricing even after two years from my last visit. Appreciate that. Must visit. It's really amazing to watch how they prepare the burgers, soo fast. #Bucketlist
J.
Great feed, reasonably priced. Had the Bambi and even though I’d have loved to taste more of the brie, I’d definitely order this one again!
H.
The burgers are delicious, juicy and huge!! It is no surprise there are so many people in queue, waiting for the burger in a winter evening, as it is so good
Q.
This place remains a must-eat in Queenstown. One of the best burgers you can get in New Zealand.
Oh and even if you're a carnivore - give the Holier Than Thou (tofu burger) a try, the balance of spicy peanut sauce to crispy tofu is amazing.
In fact, if possible - give the entire menu a try over your stay, you won't regret it!
E. c.
The burger was delicious. I loved it. Portions are large enough. Onion rings were also pretty good-not amazing- but good. The place is super packed and its more like a fast food burger place. The burgers also feel like fast food. As well as their kitchen.(need to improve on being more clean)
Overall a very good burger, not the best in the world and definitely not the best in NZ either.
L.
Very busy, the dining area is very small especially considering the high demand! Do not expect to get a table (although we were lucky enough to actually land one) and maybe order takeaway. The burger was super delicious and very large, you do not need to order sides. We wasted food by ordering the squid, although it was very yummy!
A.
Surprise me that a burger in Queenstown can be so delicious, so much rich content, so juicy, and the meat of Bullseye Burger is so tender, I felt I had a great steak and enjoy it beside the lake at Queenstown under the blue sky. Wonderful.
C.
Top 10 burger in the world? Don’t know about that, the world is pretty huge. But best burger we’ve had in NZ so far? U betcha! And reasonably priced, will be back, a lot!
B.
The hype is real! Fergburger is delicious! If you are worried about the lines head down a little earlier or maybe for lunch. Only a handful of tables outside so your best bet is to take it down to the lakefront. Burgers are huge and side portions are massive. Highly recommend
K.
Amazing late night feed !! Delicious and filling 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
A.
Great atmosphere. Worth a visit but I wouldn't order the venison burger. Venison is bland and there wasn't enough in the burger to give it a kick. Ferg has the corner sewn up with a bar, burger outlet, ice cream parlor and bakery. Quite impressive. Photos taken of ice cream coz...damn
T.
We didn't end up going here until our second trip to Queenstown as it was always busy whenever we drove past and were skeptical about how everyone was raving about these burgers. Well we instantly regret not going the first time. These burgers are absolute BOMB! Holy moly 10/10!! We had the ribeye burger and there was absolutely nothing we would have changed. So so good.
R.
Over rated burger, honestly. You can find similar or better burgers elsewhere in NZ. Not worth your time to queue up for hours.
However, it wasn’t too busy when I visited so I waited about 5 minutes for the order and about 10 minutes for the food.
W.
Great burgers, especially the burger buns, probably the best buns I ever had in a burger. Post lockdown, so there was no line, not many people at different times of the day. And it opens till late late night, literally early morning, not easy to look for good food late night anywhere in NZ.
A.
I truly believe this place is this popular because of the reputation that built at the beginning for being one of the few places open after partying. However, they do have an interesting variety of meats and they also make their own bread. I had the chicken one which is apparently one on of the best ones and it was pretty good. My husband had the venison one which is smaller but tasty, according to him.
A.
Great burgers - definitely worth the long lines. I would not go as far as calling it the best burger place in the world (see CNN) but it’s good, like really good. Overhyped? I would say yes. Service is surprisingly fast and efficient given the amount of customers and the small size of the place. Worth a try!
P.
Visited this place on our first day in Queenstown since everyone was saying we needed to try it. We bought two burgers and thickshake. To be honest, it was a bit of a letdown as the beef was dry. Thought we would give it another go and we must say they redeemed themselves. Beef was juicy and delicious, definitely used fresh produce. We think the first time the beef may have ben overcooked. Customer service here is great!
C.
Seriously great food honestly, but desperately needs an update to its vegan menu. Been here 2 years and nothing new has been added. Would gladly pay big money for a beyond ferg burger. Only so many times you can order tofu or falafel .
A.
Overrated and underwhelming. I have had better burgers elsewhere. The beef patty had no flavour, the burger basically relied on the bacon for salt. On the other hand, the food from Fergbaker (their bakery) was amazing.
H.
Absolutely amazing burgers!! We ordered deer meat (which is made sweet) and traditional beef burgers (which tastes delicious as heaven) with a side of fried squid. The buns are so so so yummy, baked right and toasted right. Meat patties, both venison and beef, are juicy and flavored with good ingredients. A must-try in Queenstown and it highlights our trip!!! Will come again given chance ^^
M.
We found this restaurant looking for a good vegan burger option, but the burgers were a little below our expectations.
We liked the chips, but the burgers were not that tasty and a little soggy, too. We have had much better vegan/vegetarian burgers at other places
J.
Delicious. So flavoursome. Friendly staff. Despite the people waiting inside and our it was not long before we got our burgers and went to consume them down on the waterfront
M.
Always a good burger, you have to be there!
L.
Great burger. The meat is grilled and this adds a lot to the taste. Don't expect to sit during lunch time. We still found a table to enjoy these big and tasty Burgers. We ordered at 12:20 and we ate at 12:37. That's not too long for this holiday.
D.
They claim to be the best , indeed they are.The most crowded spot in queenstown. Must try.
S.
First impression of Fergburger was the long waiting line - it actually doesn't take that long, probably 15 to 20 minutes tops.
During the wait, you could try some ice cream or their bakery. I didn't care much for the Ferg's Famous Boston Cream Donut (too sweet for my taste), but the ice cream was phenomenal, and came in huge portions, which was just awesome.
As for the "Fergburger", due to it's huge massive meat patty, the bread below gets soggy real quick, which really dampers the great flavor from the meat, so I would recommend you eat it in the store. The meat patty is beautifully cooked, tender, and well-seasoned, which is quite impressive due to it's size. However, personally, I enjoyed "The Codfather" better.
Excellent overall experience, would visit again.
h.
We tried the steak burger as the rest had bacon. Burger was good and the caramelised onion was really yummy 🤤 The wait time is really a bummer, but the wait is worth it though. Fries are average. Cheers!
J.
My partner and I got the Fergburger and Ferg Deluxe. The size/ weight of the burger was pretty good. The flavour and presentation wasn’t anything amazing. I’ve definitely had better burgers before e.g. Remy’s burgers in Paddington, Brisbane; Bare Grill and Cafe in Sydney and Bar Luca in Sydney. I wouldn’t say it is the best burger in the world, it’s good but far from the best. Service was average and employees seemed uninterested. Heaps of hype, lack of delivery. This sits in the dirty maccas feed category for me.
I.
There is a queue at any time of the day... We went at 11am and the queue was relatively short.
All done and got our burger within 15 mins plus queue.
I found the hype is probably because the portion is huge and the price is reasonable - got ours at 15z I wouldn’t say it’s particularly good tho but definitely better than random burger places as the turnover rate is high so food is def fresh. Had the one across the street (Smiths) which was about 22? Found that to be nicer but more expensive.
But fun for the hype, just because everyone queues- but that there will not be a return visit as there’s no wow factor
L.
Burger tasted really nice, was of a large portion size and had lots of sauce. Customer service is excellent - really friendly with fussy customers, and the wait times aren't long considering how busy they are. Definitely worth checking out while in Queenstown.
U.
I'd say that this is the best burger I've tried in New Zealand. I had deluxe one. It was thick and juicy in the middle. The bun was cripsy and fresh, the sauce was distinct and flavoursome. All of these combined with Queenstown vibes are just perfect combination.
This place is always busy though. You might need to line up for 15-30 minutes. But if you don't wanna wait that long, you can always order first and then pick the order when it's ready.
Overall, very satisfied!
T.
Amazing! I got the ferg deluxe n mate got the sweet Bambi! Both were exceptional. Mulled wine pretty good too 2 for $15 or 7.90 each. Mate said it was too sweet but I didn't mind. Overall amazing! I'll be back fosure.
L.
Great burgers, but long waiting times. Very popular place for locals and tourists alike. Edit: first time back in 4 years, and during Covid. Same menu, same good quality food but with out the wait and sheer number of international tourists waiting in line. Definitely on the todo list as well as the Ferb Baker and adjacent ferg themed shops.
L.
I tried the bullseyes and my partner had falafel burger. We had high expectations after seeing the reviews here and the line in front of the place. The meat was delicious and it was a big portion. But I cannot say it was the best burger I’ve had. Not so special. My partner was not happy with her burger. She said it was like a cold sandwich. Still it is a good value for what we had paid. It was super busy and I admire how the staff was working so hard.
M.
Tourists trap? Sure. Good burgers? For sure! Despite being a overrated eatery, I have no qalms recommending Fergburger to anyone who is looking for a decent burger with really good onion rings. The Chief Winggum was definitely a home run for Asian palate, and I love the original Fergburger too. The Codfather was a crumbed fish in between buns, and the fish was fried to perfection. Have never really tried the other burgers despite being here no less than 10 times. Their sides (besides the fries) are pretty good too, so give it a go. I just think there are better fries elsewhere in town.
Also, just come if you're a tourist. Join in the experience!
P.
What more can you say that hasn't been said. A really great burger. Best I have had in New Zealand. The "Double Ferg" was huge and just the right blend of ingredients. The wait was 10 mins but it gave you time to enjoy the atmosphere.
M.
Awesome! I had different burgers on two occasions on our trip to Queenstown. I enjoyed them. The hype is totally worth it as the burgers are even not too expensive.
N.
These burger are great, I have had a burger everyday while I was in Queenstown and the longest I waited from start to finish was 30min, other times was less. The burgers are pretty big and juicy. The chips are also good.
B.
The burger is great. The meat is juicy and delicious. The bread tastes great and smells good. Luckily, we skipped their busy hour and just waited for 15mins. But it's not the best one I've ever had. Imagine if you need to wait more than an hour just for a burger, you need to rethink whether it's worth it.
M.
This is one of their breakfast sandwiches and it is truly amazing. Only wish I would have stayed long enough to have a burger for lunch or dinner!
Such a fun spot. There is also a bakery connected next door. TONS of other shops & restaurants around the area, but this one is worth a stop.
J.
Fergberger is well worth the wait that is almost inevitable at this place. It has earned it's good reputation and is absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away by the craftsmanship and execution of the Cajun grilled chicken sandwich. Just undeniably good. The fries were good as well. Overall, a truly outstanding spot that seems to be a staple in Queenstown as you see people with it everywhere as you walk around.
J.
Very good burgers highly recommended.
C.
The best burger joint in Queenstown. Avoid the lunch & dinner crowd if possible as the lineup is quite long up to 30mins of waiting time. But the taste it’s worth the wait.
If you’re in Queenstown, you have to eat here at least once. You won’t be disappointed.
P.
Ferg burger is indeed the best burger in town, but I must say - This is the world’s best burger!!!! 😊 Highly recommended 👍🏼
Definitely A Must Do while in Queenstown 😊
It’s all worth the long queuing!
And staff was very friendly despite a very busy place 👍🏼Keep it up !!!
Got the 2nd ferg take away for my inflight meal😆
J.
Fantastic burgers, worth the wait. Lines are long but they move quicker than they seem. You can also order via phone and pick up at the window. Thanks Kim for the great service! Kim handed out umbrellas to people waiting in the rain and even brought out chips for our kids and some yummy biscuits for people in the queue. We had the original Fergburger, Cock Cajun, Julienne and Bombay Chicken and the fries and onion rings all delicious.
S.
It is always crouded here, and people sometimes need to wait for a long time for the freshly made hamburger. The beef and lamb in the hamburger are juicy and tasty. The bread of hamburger was slightly fried, making it slightly crispy. The sauces are nice (peppermint jelly in lamb is quite impressive). Overall, the best hamburger I have ever had.
W.
Amazing ! Ferg Deluxe was one of the most delicious burger we never had ! Not too expensive and really good quality ! We'll come back again tomorrow before leaving Queenstown ❤️💚
R.
THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD!!! we had to wait in a line because everyone wanted the burger but so worth the wait. The burger is huge was bigger than my hand and the onion rings and fries weren't a let down :) how Good? So good that I would come back and wait in the rain and cold for it. Ordered the Mr. Big stuff :)
M.
One of the best burgers I have ever eaten! The line is long, very long, but be patient, when we were there the line went all the way to North Face, but it took us only about 20 min to order and 10 more minutes to get our burgers, which were delicious and the wait was worth it. We went here two times in three days. The prices are quite good for the size of the burger, which are pretty big, prices range from 13 to 18, and they have something like 15 burgers to choose from. The meat was very juicy, the bread was soft, and the fries were good.
M.
I have been told before my trip to Queensland, fergburgers are very good, however over rated. Tried my self first time, i can say its one of the best I have ever tried in the world, not over rated at all. Tried the fergburger double cheese and beef
J.
This burger spot is a Queensland institution. I don't know if I can advise you as to when to go, because the line always seems to be going out of the door. These burgers are MASSIVE, and in addition to the fries, have one for lunch, and you won't be hungry again until the next day. Expect to wait a minimum of 40 mins between the line and actually receiving your food. It's a laid back spot, if you are fortunate enough to grab a table. If not, it isn't a big deal. A couple of blocks away there is ample seating along the lake with views more beautiful than humans deserve to see.
M.
THE HYPE IS JUSTIFIED!
When we saw the queue, we wondered whether it was worth the 30minute queue to order and then 45minute wait for our food to be made. But once we got the best burgers ever, it all seemed worth it!
Word of advise, if you're a couple, then order an extra burger to share - they're already big in size but they taste so amazing that one will not be enough and you won't be able to muster waiting in that queue again!
And if you're a vegetarian - forget the falafel burger and go all in on the tofu one, you'll not regret it!
A.
Amazing. Tasty
Definitely a must when visiting queenstown.
J.
This is hands down the best burger I have ever had! My wife and I visited Fergburger today as it is a must in Queenstown. We were warned about wait times from a friend but found it not bad at all, we waited in line for about 10 mins and then a 10-15min wait for our food. The burgers we chose were Tropical swine and the Deluxe Fergburger both were fantastic and the best burgers that we have had up to date. If you are in Queenstown you must take the time to visit Fergburger!!!!
D.
Do you guys need another brilliant review? I mean if you come to New Zealand and you ask any backpacker who was in Queenstown what should I do and see in New Zealand. They will tell you to go to Fergburger in Queenstown. Above the rest of the country. I was here a week in Queenstown and we visited 6 times. It's the quality of the Burger, especially the meat and chicken. Not too much sauce, just to support the Burger. You don't feel hammered down even after eating the big burgers. Sure you have to wait 10min sometines but the customer service is awesome, everyone waiting is happy to be there. So eat, come back, repeat. No Discussion
J.
Tasty vegetarian burgers. Fries were good and the onion rings awesome.
Nice portions, we did finish the leftovers in the evening. Thanks Ferg, we will come back.
J.
A must-have when in Queenstown. The place is small and tight, with a long queue but it was fast moving. So we decided to order a takeaway and ate at a park nearby.
We ordered The Fergburger with Brie cheese and the Tropical Swine. Both burgers were delicious but HUGE. The beef patties were moist and well seasoned. The pineapple was sweet and juicy. The only regret was the cheese. We preferred something stronger so should have chosen a different cheese but they were good nonetheless.
Good burgers. Only letdown was the place.
S.
Very juicy beef burger, great to be able to have a seat just outside and no waiting line!
L.
Amazing burgers! Me and a friend were passing through town and stopped for a quick bite to eat. Well worth it.
It can get very busy. We were there just after 11 and there was already a queue.
E.
Scrumptious burgers, pffftt yum...
A.
There's always a line here, but it's well worth the wait! My husband and I came here two of the 3 days were we're in New Zealand. They have s variety of burger options: beef, lamb, chicken... The burgers are massive, so technically I was unable to actually eat the double burger one with normal bites lol, so I deconstructed it. On day 2, I ordered as normal 1 patty burger & was able to consume it in a normal fashion lol. Both were excellent!
L.
Pretty good chicken burger and milkshake with fries. Large portion and tasty flavors, although I'm not sure what the hype is about. I'd probably go back again if there were no line. Also, the door to the restaurant was open so it was very cold while we were eating. I'm sure there was a reason for that, but it would have improved the experience to have been comfortable while eating (perhaps space heaters would do the trick).
_.
Came here 3 times while I was visiting Queenstown. I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with their burgers.
Pros:
- Really good veggo options particularly the "Holier Than Thou". The "Bun Laden" was good but pretty average.
- friendly staff
- Good serving size for the value.
- They let me mod one of their breakfast burgers to be vegetarian.
Cons:
- Really busy but the flow of people is quick. You'll probably have to stand there. Makes it real awkward.
- Couple of the burgers were good but didn't live up to the hype so be careful.
R.
If you are in Queenstown, you simply MUST have a Fergburger. Probably the best burger I've ever eaten. I got the classic Ferg (with gluten free bun) and it was not only delicious, but really big and filling as well (bigger than shown in picture, as it was probably already a quarter eaten at time of photo). You can really tell that the ingredients are top quality, especially the pattie which is expertly seasoned and very thick and juicy. Definitely worth the wait and worth the hype.
K.
I have visited over 25+ countries and will say...THIS IS THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD!!
I ordered the Fergburger Deluxe (it comes with bacon but I got mine without) and if I could have fit another one in my stomach I would have. This burger is amazing and now I understand why I saw the huge crowds, waiting, every single day.
I'm not quite sure what sauces they add to the burger, but I'm a person that eats it burgers with ketchup and I lost definitely didn't need any for this burger.
I visited Fergburger around 2100 and the wait was about 10 to 15 minutes , as they cook your burgers fresh, so I recommend going a little late.
With that said, knowing how delicious the burger is, I would most definitely wait in that very long queue for another one. It lost definitely didn't disappoint and was amazing!
When they print your receipt, they also give you 10% off their bakery and/or their gelato shop right next door.
This is a MUST GO establishment.
T.
Huge, luxurious burgers. Queue was long but it didn't feel like you were waiting forever. Price was fair in relation to NZ prices so it was actually classed as a 'cheaper' meal due to its size and satisfaction factor. The patties are terrific, simple but sophisticated at the same time. Had the deer and the gf had the veggie alternative which we both really enjoyed. The fries were great too. Overall, a good experience.
S.
Delicious!!!! Had the Codfather and loved it. Best burger I had in a long time and didn't really mind the wait.
J.
Fergburger lives up to the hype. The burgers were amazing. I tried 2 different burgers, and both were outstanding.
As far as wait times go, I went quite late at night (roughly 10pm) and was able to watch straight up and order, and only waited 10-12 mins for my order.
Don’t be concerned by the number of people hanging around if you drive past to check it out.
M.
Absolutely loved it! Yes this burger joint is hyped to the heavens but it is well worth. We managed to get in at an inbetween time, had no line and got table. There was a 10-20 minute wait for food but it was worth it- good quality gluten free buns and the meat was so tender and succulent, not your standard beef patty cake. We had a breakfast burger and the classic Fergburger- it's a must try when you're down in Queenstown!!
R.
Ferburger is an AMAZING burger place!
Well worth the wait!
Turn up during peak lunch or dinner times and be prepared to wait an hour to order or be a little smarter and go around those times for a lesser wait - it's worth it!
I never waited over 20 minutes for my burgers each time I went!
I did a dinner rush, brunch burger time (10.30am) and a lunch time rush.
The Big Al is huge and for big burger lovers, you won't be disappointed!
The Southern swine has beautiful sweetness and spice, the Tropical Swine has juicy pineapple addition and the Sweet Bambi has full flavoured deer with sweet relish to compliment!
You won't be disappointed team!
We tried the chips during our lunch visit and they were salty and flavourful as well as the WASABI MAYO! If you like either of these items make sure you try the WASABI MAYO!
I've posted a picture of the menu and it has Vegitarian options as well as Falafel and an extra $3 for a Gluten-free bun!
As a dairy free customer I was super happy to see a load of burgers available without cheese (nothing sadder than asking for a cheeseburger without cheese!) and they were tasty as ever!
Great options for everyone!
After you order and pay youll get a number and usually a wait time and it will be called out and shown on screen!
Inside can get busy but there are seats and tables you can sit down at if you're swift :)
The burger will fill you up but there's always drink options available and sides!
Great location to walk to on foot right in the heart of Queenstown! Our first burger we walked to the docks and had by the water - they'll be in a bag and labelled :)
There are awesome photos and pictures on the wall to check out while you're waiting as well as a bunch of awesome merchandise you can grab!
The burgers were fresh and hearty and full of flavour! I've tried many burgers around the world and this burger joint is a stand out!
They even get their buns from their very own Bakery next door freshly baked - they're next door and have some awesome food too! Check out some of my other reviews for those ones!
Ferburger, Give it a go! "Ferg loves you"
J.
The Te Mana lamb shoulder is the dish to get here and it is absolutely delicious. Full stop.
The slow-roasted lamb shoulder is what my YEA and I rewarded ourselves with after a day of hiking Roy’s Peak nearby.
It’s definitely a dish for two but if you are feeling extra hungry then no shame in turning it into a food challenge for yourself.
The meat is so tender and juicy as you easily cut through it. Each mouthful was wonderful. The root veggies were on point and the bacon cabbage medley was crunchy joy.
There wasn’t much table talk because we were just enjoying the dinner so much and having a “moment”.
The restaurant is easy to miss because it is on the second floor of a building and you have to look for that door that will lead you up a flight of stairs.
The restaurant decor in the dining room is very soft on the eyes and it has this modern minimalist elegance to it.
Cheers to the friendly and caring staff. They didn’t have any problem when we wanted to switch to another table as the sun was setting and the sunlight was blinding me from the window.
Come here for the slow-roasted lamb shoulder, it’s totally worth it!
L.
Amazing burger and the onion rings was so nice too! Definitely worth the hype.
I went at 11.30 and didn’t have to queue and found a seat too. It was great! Try to avoid the rush hour although it is always crowded.
P.
Great tasting 'large' burgers.... queues can be a little overwhelming, but the enthusiastic staff soon get through these with people eating in and taking away. While there we also stopped at their artisan bakery and tried cakes, pies and bread across a number of stops.
A.
Amazing burgers. Very juicy and flavoursome. Always delicious, you will have to wait but it’s worth it. Recommend going just before lunch.
M.
Great burger. We coming here every time we are in queenstown. Only problem is the line but if you want it you have to wait..we back here. Burger is still great but the fries was not good this time, very underwhelming, soagy and tasteless! What happened?! Aioli is great, but couldn't safe the chips!
D.
A great burger. Everyday we went past there was a long queue so thought we should give it a go. I’m glad we did the burger was great. Brilliant staff kept you informed of how long you was likely to be waiting. We really enjoyed the experience
M.
Burger was really good
But too big for me. I could only finish half of it. Dont overeat. You dont want to look like a burger. It is not healthy😄
The queue was very long. It moves pretty fast with the cash register working doubly quick.
Waiting time for them to prepare the burger...20mins for us today. Worth the wait!
M.
Worth the hype is all I got to say. Prices are reasonable for a burger place, and really good considering how famous they are. Had 4 to 5 different burgers here already and all are excellent, even the pork belly burger was actually a cooked pork belly which had the crispiest skin!
J.
Must try when in Queenstown! Always good.
O.
Good taste beef burger. Has a unique taste. Larger in size. Get the double beef with cheese. NZ$16.40. Waiting time will be 15 minutes max. Definitely you have to be here if your travelling to Queenstown.
M.
A must visit burger place. We ate the venison /deer burger and a chicken burger.. they were yummy!! It’s such a lively atmosphere and food smelt amazingly delicious..great vibe to it.
No matter what time you go there is a huge queue ..we had to wait for at least 45mins for our turn to order, however it was well worth the wait. Will come back here again for sure!!
The best burger in Australia-NZ..!!
F.
Portions are HUGE, I had to skip dinner after eating a burger here. I couldn't even finish the fries and I shared it with a friend.
We came at 2:30pm on a Friday and there were no lines. Waited around 15 minutes for our order. Have to say it lived up to its hype, but I don't know if I would be willing to wait more than 30 minutes in line like some others have.
Definitely try to avoid the crowd and go during odd hours. Location is hard to miss, right in the center of town and always crowded.
Z.
Nice and fresh. I wouldn't say BEST BURGER IN THE WORLD tho. Not sure if I'm keen to wait that long to get it next time.
R.
What a solid feed! The quality, taste, and flavour really live up to its reputation. Fergburger is a definite must-do in Queenstown!
M.
Generous portions, fresh ingredients, awesome fries, friendly service! We were lucky to get our orders just 10 minutes after ordering (no queue at 11am in the morning). Brought the burgers to the nearby lawn and sank our teeth into the juicy warm meat patties.
The Tropical Swine and Codfather are our picks!
C.
The famous name of Ferg Burger isn't just a name, their burger quality is one of the best that I ever have. The usual queue time is 10 to 15 mins and the waiting time is up to 30 mins. But hey, it's worth the wait. I tried the Codfather burger on the first attempt, and it was delicious. Check out my photos for the menu and price.
J.
There are always people waiting on que for the burger. Lined up, took us 20 minites to order and another 15-20 minutes to get the food eventho it was after 8pm. When I had the first bite of the burger omg it was well worth it. The bugers were huge, succulent beef patty and greens on the bun with tomato relish were harmonious.
Y.
Wow. Wow. Wow. That’s all I can say. I’m definitely not a burger fan but I’ll take a Fergburger at any time. I had a Big Al one night as I asked for the largest one they have. Juicy, tasty, well stuffed, I am absolutely satisfied. I went back the next day (to be honest, Fergburger is one of the reasons I decided to extend my stay in Queenstown) and had a Little Lamby, smaller portion but delicious as well. I would definitely recommend Big Al for the value though. Is it the best burger in the world, or in New Zealand? I’m not here to be the judge. Is it good burger? Absolutely yes and I already look forward to go back.
D.
Believe the hype. Fergburger has some of the freshest ingredients in their burgers. The gluten free cod burger was amazing. For the volume of people the wait times are exceptional. Wasabi mayo is an absolute must with the chips.
N.
This place is world famous and hyped up like crazy. I was sure it would not live up to it, but it blew me away. The few days I spent in Queenstown, I regretted each day I did not eat a burger from here.
The standard burger was a perfect balance of all the ingredients. The more fancy or complex burgers did kinda become a mess of flavours
S.
An Amazing burger, mulled wine and onion rings. To much food! But absolutely amazing. Tasted great, was hot and fresh, and well priced. Will be back to try a venison burger. Wife was happy too which is always a bonus.
Z.
Best burger in town! Amazing sauce! Always full of people though. You will need an hour to wait in the queue before you can get the burger ready! Always long queue so we decided to get there at 9am when the shop opened!
T.
Great experience! Can understand the hype going on about it. First day we came we saw LONG queues, so if you feel like you really want to give it a shot, go at an off peak time. We ordered the Codfather and the Big Al. We also had fries and the squid rings. Holy smokes the Big Al was insanity. We told each other we either go big or go home. So we went big. Then after that we had to go home because it was so damn filling we couldn't do anything else. Worth it. Go there at least once. Also if you get the right seats, you get to watch overcooked in action behind the lines creating the burgers!
A.
I've always dreaded coming here because of the OUTRAGEOUSLY long que there always is. But today there was no que so I gave it ago. Honestly the burgers are pretty flavourful and I thought it was delicious (that's coming from someone who pretty much lives on burgers). The staff were friendly and quick and efficient. I'm happy I finally got to try the famous ferg burger... though if I had to wait in one of those ridiculous ques probably wouldn't be as happy with it. But otherwise super good 100% RECOMMEND
P.
Amazing Bugers at at reasonable price (for Queenstown). As someone non meat diet there are several great options (Tofu, Falafal, Blue Cod). It can get very busy but service is pretty good. Burgers are not normally my thing but would very happily go to Ferg's again. 😁🍔
L.
Best burger ever!!!
I’m not the burger person and actually don’t like burger. But after I tried ferburger I have changed my mind. It is just so delicious! The burger bun is perfect and delicious. The staffs are friends. And I enjoy the heater outside of the shop. 😁
Y.
Really nice burgers, bigger that I thought and super juicy ( take some extra napkins you'll need them) ! The onion rings are nice but nothing special with doble dipping sauce.
Plus: if you check carefully your receipt, you will have 10%off on the Gelatos next to it.
L.
One of the best Burgers I’ve ever had. We both got the deluxe and it was simply amazing ! The burger was quite large and the bun was soft and crunchy. The beef patty was juicy and large as well. Can’t wait to go back and try another type.
G.
During my stay in QT I tried a venison and a beef burger and although both of them were delicious, I failed to notice why these burgers are considered as outstanding. Although the venison patty was a bit bland, the burgers taste great overall, but nothing I couldn't buy elswhere in NZ. Also, I prefer thicker patties that are juicier.
J.
Really delicious burgers and warm rum cider. We even ordered calamari and they were perfectly crispy. The only one that I didn't really liked was deer burger. It was missing some flavours as it was bland. Will come back again
E.
Was highly recommended this place by my son. The queue was fast moving and kids were given fries while waiting for the burger. Burger was juicy and buns were freshly prepared. The codfather tempura fish was a nice change from usual fish burger. Overall, one of the better burgers in town and reasonably price ($15.4).
M.
Best burgers ever. Don't be intimidated by the queue, they move really fast! Over my 4 days in Queenstown I tried Sweet Bambi (venison meat) and Little Lamby (obvs lamb meat) and both are AWESOME! From the fresh greens, onions down to the sauce it all goes so well together! If you can eat more, try their fries - the dips are good! Overall a big big yum.
Last but not least a big THANK YOU to all the staff. They're so fast, incredibly patient and friendly despite the crowd. Amazing!
P.
Finally we reach the Fergburger. The famous burger in Queenstown with long queue. Be prepared to wait 1 hour during peak hours.
The beef patty is cooked medium rare and comes out very juicy and it has a strong taste of blackpepper. The buns is also sooo delicious...crispy outside soft inside.
We tried the pork belly burger as well. Some part of the pork belly skin is a bit tough and chewy. Still opt for the beef burger.
.

Tasty chips. We had the veggie falafel burgers which were nothing special. I liked that they were able to accommodate dairy free and added vegan spicy aioli instead. Order online though and pick up to avoid the queue!
F.
Honestly, the burger was nice. Not life changing or anything like that as the queue would have you believe, but honestly, not bad.
Please go to the bakery too! The bakery was so much better and no one was ever queuing here!? Their pies were amazing and it had the best latte! Do not neglect their bakery!
F.
I would say it is a compulsory to stop to the best burger in Queenstown, its so busy with people waiting even before the burger joints opens at 8am...it becomes a favourite place for locals and visitors, specialises in gourmet burgers.. I ordered the classic burger, no cheese and ate the burger by Lake Wakatipu, the bun was fresh, the sauce was flavoursome and the patty is succulent!
M.
Oh man, the legendary burger with legendary waiting time and queue. But it was definitely worth it! We even had to come back one more time and try it once again! I have tried the biggest burger here and it was massive! But so delicious. I think we have never had better burger in New Zealand. And the price for food is pretty good as well.
A.
Fantastic service! Was told it'll be a very long wait by my friend but waiting time would have been about 10-15mins and its was very busy so top job to the lovley people working there! Great range to choose from A+++
J.
Felt disappointed with the average tasting burgers because of my high expectations for this well known eatery. Took about 30mins to get our burgers including queue time. The cockadoodle oink was prepared in a sloppy manner, where the ingredients were not distributed evenly around the patty. My friends tried the beef burgers and they couldn't finish it because it was really dry. Overhyped place, would not recommend.
Z.
I couldn’t understand the people eating a burger at 9am but after eating here twice on a 4-day trip to Queenstown, I understood that getting ‘one more fix’ was necessary.
It was great that they have gluten-free burgers and a separate place to cook everything, too!
The coffees in the morning (when others were chowing their Fergburger) were great, too. Made better by the awesome service by Bethany who remembered my order and my name after just one drink!
Would happily return again - and would even consider a 9am fix if it was a short trip. Haha.
G.
Great burgers! My wife and I went here and I have to say it is great. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a good place to get a burger.
D.
I do not agree with everybody here. This is a great burger. But the best burger in the world? Definately doubt that. Would the place deserve Five stars for a great burger? Yes. But does the Overall customer experience deserve a Five star Rating? Not sure. So I Keep focusing on the burgers (like everyone in the Reviews seem to do) so for me a great burger deserves four stars. For a really good burger with a Five star Rating I would have expected a fluffier bun. I went there twice and the bun was rather slushy. Rest was really good indeed.
P.
Well definitely an amazing place!! Lines might seem long but we only waited about 20min and thats not bad for Queenstown #1 best burger!!! I wish i had taken more photos but it smelled so good I forgot to
M.
There is a huge variety of burgers, delicious, tasty at a very good value. Mulled wine is good, beer at good price. The place is always busy. It is clean, toilet is clean. You can also get a juice from the bakery and drink there while you eat your burger. A place to be visited.
J.
Not the best burger I've ever had, but still awesome! Patient and friendly staff and the queue moves really quickly. The onion rings were great and came with a horseradish aioli. My burger was a little cold even though we ate it immediately.
K.
Went here recently and quiet enjoyed the meal. Had tried the lamb and chicken burgers and they were a delight.
Definitely not to be missed if you're in Queenstown.
We got lucky as there wasn't much of a line outside or waiting time on meals.
D.
Must visit local cafe when in town. To die for burgers, great coffees and fantastic artisan bakery products. Open till late every night and has good music on at all times . Friendly staff and great portion size make the visit a worth it. Average time to process your order is 15-20 minute and has limited seating on site.
s.
Amazing Bergers and shakes in this part of the world. I loved their food. You need to taste it to understand why they are so popular. Vegetarians would love tofu Berger and meat lovers would enjoy grilled chicken or beef Bergers. Very conveniently located, just a block away from the station building and very fairly priced. At lunch there is a 15-20 minute wait. Yes it is crowded and rightly so. Staff is very good.
S.
Good vibrant ambience reasonably good burgers definitely worth a visit if you come to Queenstown but eating there once in a trip should be more than enough
S.
Tip: don’t be worried about the length of the queue, it moves quickly!
Great burger (went with the classic Fergburger with cheese). It’s a really big portion and for a very good price.
Get it to go and head down to the beach for a more memorable experience!
S.
Long queues almost all day long. Expect 15 of queue to order and another 15 to get your order at least. But it totaly worth it. I order one vegeburger that tasted amazingly good. The burgers are big so you don't need to order side dish if you don't want to :)
J.
The best burgers in Quenstown! The place to go for that meat craving. Have your protein the way you like it -- Beef, lamb, chicken, pork or venison. In 2 days I tried them all and liked them all. You just need to watch out for prime time when the lines can take up to over an hour.
A.
Great burgers! All locally sourced ingredients from what I could tell. The wait is normally about 15-20 minutes in line and then another 10-15 minutes after ordering, but it’s worth it.
B.
Not overrated even in the slightest. Although the wait was a little over 20 minutes and being told 10-15 minutes. And waiting around wasn't too comfortable with people everywhere also waiting, as well as people trying to eat instore (why bother?!?). I have to say the burgers are top notch. The real hero believe it or not is the bun. Super fresh. And the onion rings are very good value. Price seems good all round. And that's coming from a town that is gouging you at every turn elsewhere
G.
All the great without the wait! ... If you come for brunch that is; start your day with one of these behemoths and you might not even need another meal for the rest of the day! It's a cult experience in of itself and it shows with the wrapped around lines in the evening. So many choices too even besides their prime NZ beef which look tantalising. We. Are. Stuffed! Onion rings not too bad either but suspecting they might just be ones out of a frozen bag. Looks like they also have $5 speights on tap too if you need something besides a fizzy drink to wash this down. Seating can obviously get hard to come by inside or out due to the queues
I.
It's said that It has the best burgers in Queenstown. The line is always long. The servers were friendly but I had to wait for like 15-20 minutes to get my order ready. The burger was good.
N.
Iconic burger in Queenstown
Tasty burger mixed with bacon, beef, sour cucumber, sala and bread.
17$ each... quite a big size. Recommend 2 persons each.
Highly recommended
M.
Excellent burgers. A little on the expensive side, but you get quite a bit for your money. Not even a horrendously long wait considering it was a busy time of day.
J.
I think half of the experience is ALL HYPE...while the other half of the experience is a pretty tasty hamburger and fries. I come here every time I visit, and I think to myself, "No. it's all hype. The ridiculously long wait in line is not worth it. Then I stand in line, eat my burger and think, "Yeah, I mean, when I'm queenstown...I guess it's pretty good." Portions are huge. I split one and some fries with another adult male.
K.
This place had a ton of hype about it which made me nervous. The wait in line was about 10 minutes which I hear was very lucky and about a further 30 min wait on the burger. But the wait was well worth it. It was one of the best burgers I have eaten. The staff were also very nice. I'd def go back!!!
S.
The best burgers in Queenstown goes to Fergburger, with a healthy queue outside, it’s the place to go. We were here during the Easter holidays which meant the lines were even longer. You get a menu while you wait in the queue (and Easter egg during Easter!) and the staff update you on how long the wait is which is helpful. We waited about 30mins to order and then it was a 25min wait for the food.
I ordered the Ferg burger - NZ prime pattie with lettuce, tomato, tomato relish and aioli on a seeded bun. The burger patty was juicy and the bun was soft to absorb the patty juices. A pretty darn good burger I must say.
I had a side of fries with aioli, was impressed they were skin on potato fries.
A.
Worth the wait! The deluxe burger and salt and pepper squid were our favorites. Don't forget to also visit the bakery and gelato shops next door for a similarly good experience.
k.
You can tell the burgers are very fresh, especially as they bake the buns next door. I had the Southern Swine burger with a Peanut Butter and Banana thick shake, absolutely loved it. It would have been better if the patty was more juicy, as it was overlooked a little.
L.
Exceptionally long queue, after making order you still got to wait. However, the size of the burger and taste makes up for the long wait.
You should order a glass of Speights on tap while you wait for your burger. Do try to get a counter seat to see how they do your burger. To pack the burger quick, regardless the size, takes a true experienced packer!
I ordered a sweet bambi, which wasn't as juicy as some deer meat burger I had recently, but the other stuffs in the burger makes up for it.
Will definitely be back to try the others my next time here.
K.
The busiest spot in town. Enjoyable!! Meat patty was flavoursome and cooked just right. Buns were soft but a touch chewy. Worth the wait if you have time to spare.
M.
Simply a superstar in town! Always crowded with people queuing for the best burger in town. Half an hour queue is becoming a standard but it's worth it the wait for the sensational taste of the burger! They open from 9am to 5 am, 21 hours a day, plenty of time to pick your choice of hours. A must have burger.
A.
Delicious. These guys live up to their reputation and some. Well priced and amazing sized burgers - I struggled to finish mine (in a good way)! Loved the wrapping style - kept the burger together so well. Would come back, for sure!
K.
Honestly, I think this is one of the best values in queenstown. Food is quite expensive in this town and these burgers are huge and for a good price. I tried a couple different ones and they were all great. The only negative I can think of is that the line is sometimes very long, and the fries and onion rings do not match the taste and quality of the burgers. Overall, a great stop!
L.
Very busy during lunch and dinner time! Queue is still ok! I tried two times during visit and have normal cheddar cheese and blue cheese F burger. If the cheese quantity increase will be even much better!
R.
The food matches the hype at this place. Great tasting burgers, and a wide variety to choose from, open 21 hours a day, very reasonable prices = great value for money, and a well deserved reputation! Three of us each loved our burgers, which included Mr Big Stuff, The Codfather, and Sweet Bambi. The shoestring fries and aioli barely made the short drive home. Didn’t realise there is a related bakery and gelato shop right next door, so we’re already making plans to revisit town to indulge ourselves!
B.
Best burgers in the world!
The queue can get crazy long but you can call in before hand with your order to shorten the wait. Lamb burger is surprisingly good.
Make sure you check your orders if you get drinks with your burgers, they tend to forget that. Great friendly staff given that they work non stop to give us burger haven.
M.
The wait was worth it!!! Got the bambi and lamby burgers, it was delicious and generous in size. The buns were soft and fresh, most probably from the Ferg Bakery next door. Must do when in Queenstown. We got lucky the line was not too long just starting out from the bakery's door step and got the burger in 20mins.
R.
So many people all the time. Very few veggie options (only 2) but they were tasty none the less. One star less for less veg options. Can't comment on other burgers.
R.
One of the best burgers in town. This succulent patty has the juiciest interior. Taking a bite of this can give you the best feeling of heaven. Plus. The line goes around 3 other shops so yeah. It speaks for itself
M.
Always 5 star, the burgers are amazing. Tropical swine with perfectly cooked beef was on point, thanks guys!
p.
After listening to everyone raving about this place and how Ferg serves the best burger around, we had to try it out. As a destination, Ferg is definitely very popular with travellers. As a food destination, it is dependent on what each person looks for. My wife and I ordered a Ferg Deluxe and a Lamby. The burgers were nice. Aside from the meat, all other ingredients and sauce were the same between the 2 burgers. The meat was nice and tender. The reason we gave this place a 3 star was all food handlers did not wear any gloves during food preparation.
T.
I wanted to love it, the experience is great, waiting in line for 45 minutes for a burger. The staff is great too, that’s not the problem, the problem is that their vegan options are pretty lackluster, the gluten free buns are dry too. I’m sure if you don’t have dietary restrictions this place is great. But I would have to place Devil Burger down the street way above this place for anyone wanting Vegan/ Gluten-Free options. Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. 2 stars for the burger, fries are pretty good though!
T.
Great hamburgers. I can't say more than that. Highly recommended. There may be a wait, but worth it.
J.
Definatly wayyy over hyped-worth a 1 time visit... We got the lamb, beef burger and fries. Burgers were ok, kumara fries were yum.
A.
An iconic Queenstown experience, with a great menu that’s well priced. Incredibly hearty burgers with tasty buns made at their bakery next door. Staff are great with someone handing you a menu to look at while you’re in line. Once you’ve ordered you get presented with a number that will appear on the screen outside when your order is ready. There is some seating outside and outdoor heaters keep you warm during the winter months.
C.
Reasonably priced make-to-order hamburgers with very delicious taste. Very juicy meat too.
Ordered Ferg Deluxe and Sweet Bambi. Personally prefer the former one.
There are always people lining up but the staff works very efficiently. Limited seats are available in the restaurant so be prepared to go to nearby benches or recreational area to enjoy the hamburgers with the pond view.
V.
The patty is just rich and so filling mmmm Very tasty yet still quite healthy. Juicy and tender and the egg is great. Tried the biggest one and as an Asian I barely finished it as the portion is very big. Friendly and helpful staff and very whoosh service. I have never seen such diligent and quick service handling so many customers at once. They even have multi languages services available for your convenience.
J.
Great service and great tucker!
Just a hint during busy season phone before you go down to reduce the wait on your meal.
J.
I compared this place (famous) to devil burger today. Same burgers
....devil burger was tastier. Dont get me wrong its a good burger but nothing special about it. The shake was good but pretty thin, and the general chaos at fernburger lack of seating...made this an easy pick, choose devil burger over the name of fernburger.
T.
We managed to come at a quiet times so only waited 15 mins in line and another 15 mins for the food to be made. They are really good burgers! The chips were unnecessary as the burger filled me up (Big Al). It won't blow a burger connoisseur away but they are easily the best buger I've had in NZ and I love my BurgerFuel.
j.
Unbelievable burgers. Not quite sure how they managed to make the food here so incredible but the burger I had was on another level entirely. As we approached the shop a huge line presented itself. As someone that hates waiting for food I was pretty turned off but as I was part of a big group and the consensus was to wait I bunkered in, this was when the first pleasant surprise happened. Despite a huge line, it moved very quickly and it didn’t take long before we were ordering. Then again it also didn’t take long for our food to be ready. The final cherry on top was that the burgers were incredible. If you come to Queenstown and don’t try one of these burgers you’ve pretty much committing a crime. The only reason a star was lost was because the system for alerting you to when your food is ready could definitely be better, a tiny screen with even smaller numbers made it difficult and also the prices are a little on the steep end. I paid $20 for a burger and a drink, no chips. The burger was amazing so it was worth it but it still felt like a bit overpriced.
C.
Considering the line it was quite a fast experience to get food. Trying to get a table is pretty tight. I would say this is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had and it was worth the 20 min que around lunch time. Fast friendly service. Good value for money.
K.
One of the best burger place in the world!!! Pretty good price as well! It was very long line but if you go there during odd hour then there’s not much of wait any more! We went there at 9am to make it breakfast and there were only maybe 4-5 people in front of us in the cash registration. Maybe 20min we got our burgers over all! We had big al and tropical swine. Both were excellent but we like big al a bit more !
D.
Less crowded in weekdays. My burger was huge as much as I can’t bite all layers at once. Staffs are friendly and they worked so fast.
E.
We loved our experience here! Waited for some time the both times we came in but was well worth it. Can actually taste the ingredients, not fully processed. We love the associated bakery and gelato next door too!! Gotta have Ferg at least once, irrespective of what you read in the reviews lol
D.
Visited during summer peak season. At 3pm it took 15 minutes to place an order and 20 minutes to receive the two burger order. I would assume this is expected.
We ordered one beef and one venison burger. Burgers were tasty, were not overly oily or salty and had a homemade (homeburg) flavour. That said neither burger was amazing, and the patties in both were on the dry/well done side.
J.
A definite meal place if you are in Queenstown. This place always has a huge queue so it's easy to spot the burger place. I am vegetarian so could only try the tofu burger and the falafel burger. Both the burgers are really good and their portion size is also considerably large. The fries served are also nice and crispy. A place worth the time and money.
D.
I live in the Bay Area so I'm comparing burger quality with the burger joints there (e.g. Roam, Counter, In n Out). While the burger was decent (and huge), its not worth the 45min wait.
J.
Good burgers. I didn't have to wait long so I enjoyed it but the line can get really long. Personally I don't think it's worth waiting for an hour on line. While I enjoyed the burger I'm not really sure what the hype surrounding the place is as they are not amazing by any means. If you manage to be there when there is a short line it is worth it. The meat is good and the burgers a big but they definitely put way to much sauce on the burgers. The gelato and fergbakery next door are amazing.
S.
This place lives up to all the hype. Yes there is a line and scarce seating but the Fergburger is juicy, tasty, fresh meat and ingredients. One of the best I have ever had!!
N.
Came here twice COs the burgers are just AWESOME!! Tried venison burger and deluxe the first time and big Al the second time. BIG AL IS THE BOMB!!! Can feed two people. We were so lucky that the lines were not long both times. Probably 15min line to purchase then 15’in to collect burgers. Absolutely must visit when in queenstown!
O.
Worth the hype! Each and every components of the burgers (shared 3 burgers with friends) are done to perfection! Highly recommended!
A.
This place is a must visit everytime I goto queenstown. Had a Big Al burger today which was delicious and also grabbed a ferg steak and cheese pie from the ferg Bakery. This was enough food to satisfy a large appetite! Will be back next time.
s.
Great experience, the place was always busy whenever we walked past, but the orders were processed in good time, they have a very organised system to manage high volumes, very impressed. The burgers and fries were amazing, worth the price for a damn good burger.
L.
Definitely the must-try burger when we are in Queenstown, although the queue is just insane.. Big size and delicious burger
Don't forget to check out their savoury pie and cakes next door. They are just as yummy as the burger.
J.
Yes, it does live up to the hype. The lines are insane sometimes (going around the block), though they move fast. I tried different burgers - the beef, the venison, the lamb, and the chicken and they were all great - the beef was the best. So juicy and tender. The spot was hit, and the wait was justified. It's a must do in Queenstown
T.
The best burger in New Zealand!
I went there around 10min before they open but already few people waited.
I also went there around 10am, there were very crowded.
So if you are a tourist, and your accommodation doesn’t have a breakfast, then I recommend you to go and take away at morning.
N.
I didn't think Fergburger will live up to the hype but I was greatly mistaken. There is a line of stores for the bakery and burger place both of which sell top class products. The burgers were juicy and very filling just by themselves. The hot chocolate I got from the bakery was the best I've ever had. They must have used melted chocolate to make it but it wasn't overpoweringly sweet. I didn't get to try it but their pastries are also amazing. I definitely recommend coming here when you are in Queenstown but be wary that there is usually a very long queue. So either eat here for breakfast or a early dinner (4pm) or be prepared to wait 20 mins in line and another 20 mins for them to prepare the food.
M.
Really delicious burger! Definitely one of the best I've had in New Zealand. They know how to do it and their burger is the kind of burger I love! I've had some many boring and not tasty burgers in NZ. And this one met my expectations.
We've had our food ready in 15 mins even though the place was REALLY REALLY busy!
Staff was nice and friendly and burger was delicious 🍔❤️
M.
This restaurant is simply amazing! If you are in Queenstown and want to eat a burger you will remember for a long time, don’t hesitate going to Fergburger. There is always a queue to buy your burger, but it is really worth the wait.
I.
What is there left to say, this is the best burger in town. Service is fast and efficient considering the sheer amount of people coming here. Pro tip: call and order, then you only have to wait about 15 min and can waltz in past all the people standing in line and get your food, it is Quick, it is efficient. I personally think Fergburgers success story is the best success story in the history of success stories. And yeah, the burgers are delicious trust the thousands of people going here. Having a burger at Furgburger is one of the top must do things in queenstown for a reason.
K.
Nice burgers massive size, make sure to phone ahead and pick up from the window as there will be long lines on peak days.
N.
Very good vegetarian burgers.
1. Went around 9:30pm to avoid mile long queue.
2. Only two vege options (ordered both)
3. Tofu option: was juicy and had lots of tofu bricks. But felt like tofu overdose.
4. Fslafal option: Falafal was delicious but a little dry.
Having said that the burgers were still great and juicy and queue was moving fast which means that they have good service.
H.
Had this on day 1 of our Queenstown stay, went back twice for their pies and once again for the burgers. Needless to say, we loved it. Lines can get ridiculously long around the 6-8pm mark (it was a 1hour wait for us), so time your visit well. The place has a great vibe. Food is good value for money, as quantity is quite reasonable (best to come hungry!).
J.
Had this twice in two days. Portions were huge. Queues were long but worth the wait. Try the deluxe burger if you can and the discounts for gelato and sorbet at mrs ferg next door was a great bonus. Yumz!
A.
Delicious burger that I have ever tasted. Probably the best burger in the world.
Please ask for The Fergburger if you want the Halal version. Else, for the other menu you need to request them to serve it without bacon. Lamb is not Halal.
As for the sause, Aioli Mayo is a must try!
S.
Simply amazing, I had the original and chief wiggum. Sides I tried onion rings calamari and chips.
The burgers a are simple, not over the top. Filled with fresh ingredients.
Visited fergburger 2 times within the week I was in Queenstown. The bakery next door also do some super neat pies.
A.
The most famous burger in town. The meat is very tender. We tried the raindeer burger and the deluxe. It's worth to try if you are in Queenstown. Be ready to queue!!
J.
Delicious burger, so amazing they do celiac options it's so nice to feel safe eating it knowing it won't make me sick.
c.
A must in Queenstown even though queue is usually very long but service is fantastic. We were lucky to go this time of the year with less tourist naturally shorter queue . When we return to collect the drinks which was missed out from packing, instead we get a refund as well as the free drinks.
N.
One vegetarian option and it's tastes good, but you'll find more delicious ones out there. Wasn't worth the atrocious wait.
C.
Ferg doesn't live up to the hype yet the place is bloody brilliant. The burgers are rather sizeable for their price and tasty af. The most common mistake during off season is to think there is a long queue, usually it is just peeps waiting for their order. Tried 6 different burgers during my visit in Queenstown and they were all delicious.
Pro tip, don't choose the sweet bambie burger as it tastes only berries and brie.
B.
Came by a few times the week I was in Queenstown.Tried the Holier Than Thou (Tofu) one and it was surprisingly good cause the satay sauce was really nice. Also had the Big Al, which was large and tasty. They also sell the Mrs. Ferg shakes here.
Generally takes about 15 minutes to get the burger after ordering as they make to order. If the tables inside and outside the restaurant are full, then you can just take the burger to the lakeside to enjoy with a view.
Usually busy with a line but when I came there wasn't a line. Once after coming down from night skiing and the other for lunch.
S.
One of the best burgers in town. It’s a must visit burger point when in Queenstown. There are long queues outside so be there early and enjoy the amazing burgers. I visited Fergburger pre covid and I can’t wait to visit back.
J.
The place becomes busy as it is very popular in Queenstown.
Burger on the left is the Ferg burger whilst the other one is the Big Al
4/5 stars for the burgers😉
N.
The closet to a home made hamburger you will get. If I ordered again I would ask for a well done burger. Wait time was only about 10mins, despite the line looking long.
D.
Amazing and definitely not overrated burgers. The crowds are always there whether you are there during day time or night time. We were there past midnight and there are still a bunch of people grabbing a bite at that hour. The price is not cheap but the portion and taste is worth it.
M.
Very good burgers from a superbly busy place. Never saw this much queue for a burger joint! Definitely worth the wait though! The place offers a wide variety of burgers with vegetarian options too, and very copious amounts. Fries are separate, but I definitely recommend the wasabi mayo to go with them! Overall an exciting and delicious experience.
S.
Amazing burgers! 2 veg options - falafel and tofu! It's pretty crowded! It's best to visit and take away in non peak hours. Just to give a perspective, At 6 pm the time to order was 20 min and wait time was 25 min...
H.
Yes they have a vegan tofu tempura burger that's super awesome! Called holier than thou. It's large enough to share about 12.90 dollars. We waited 10 minutes in line to place the order. Another 20 minutes to get the order made on a weekday around 5pm.
J.
I'd had Fergburger 4 years ago and remember it being okay but not understanding the hype. Went back again this year and would now rank it one of the best burgers of my life. HUGE, juicy, top ingredients - yes there's a line but if you're strategic about when you go it isn't bad at all. The breakfast burgers are not to be missed either!
P.
Amazing burgers, worth the wait. I waited 35 minutes in line and a further 20 minutes for the order. But the burgers are up there with the best I've ever tasted.
L.
Very tasty burger - the signature Fergburger is huge already so if you get the double patty, be ready to get super full. Queueing is a breeze but it's a popular spot so you have to wait some time for the food, and there are benches for people waiting to sit down and chill. The taste was very good - patty well-marinated, sauce tasty, onions crunchy, and the buns were toasted and coated with this awesome sauce. Worth a try!
M.
In Ferg We Trust... it was my first time!!! I can see why they have a huge following... long long queues but luckily I didn’t have to Q for very long... the burgers were simple but delicious... simplicity at its best... busy but very quick service.. had the Fergburger n Codfather.. huge homemade buns... lightly toasted n crunchy... will definitely come back... it’s not just a burger.. it’s Fergburger.!!!!!! Boooyaaakaashaaa!!!!
S.
Awesome Burger, very lively location. Wait time at 11 am was approx 20 minutes for 2 burgers. Meat was perfect, prize and size matched
M.
I was looking forward to coming to Fergburger for a very long time after friends told me about it. The line and system were efficient and I loved the burger and fries (onion rings were terrible).
I am voting these 5 stars based on the burger alone. It was delicious and lived up to the hype! I wouldn’t mind even going here again before I leave Queenstown.
A.
Delicious food, wonderful friendly staff. Danielle is such a wonderful lady, the greatest service ever
S.
Before my trip to New Zealand I read a couple of food blogs and everyone of them said to eat here. I walked by it a couple of times during the day and saw the line so I new what I had read was true. So I knew I had to go. This place was worth it. The burger was so juicy, the toppings were fresh and lots of them, and some how it stays together beautifully. I also tired the their Tofu burger and I have to say that wasn't as good as I'd hoped. But the have it and another veggie option. All in all, this place is a must do if you're in Queenstown.
H.
I had a double fergs. Patty is juicy and tender, and taste amazing. The selection of cheese was perfect. My friends and I had all the different types of cheese. Cheddar and Brie was as expected, blue cheese was heavy and flavorful. Price is worth it. But be prepared to wait more than 30 mins or up to an hour during peak period. The restaurant doesn’t have much seats as well, so you’ll most likely need to take away or eat in the open area outside the restaurant.
B.
Amazing burgers! Delicious milkshakes! I didn’t find anything special about the onion rings though. There is always a line, but don’t panic, it moves very quickly, it is quite organized and staff is friendly and helpful so you choose what your heart desire and clear any doubts while waiting.
K.
Fergburger is worth the hype. Don’t let the long line dissuade you; it’ll move rather quickly! All of their burgers are absolutely delicious and juicy. Fries cooked perfectly as well. Also, a perfect spot to go after a night of drinking.
G.
Limited tables and chairs for dinning in. Always crowded the whole day. Took me more than 40min to get my burgers. The burger patty is really good. The buns is really special. I order the onion rings which is home made. I think it is worth the 40min waiting.
M.
Tried the freg-lafel burger and I must say that the veg burgers are underwhelming, low of sauce and flavor. Fries were crispy and great and gelato shakes decent. Line moves fast but a wait of 15 mins for the food to be prepared must be expected. Gelatos were great with a lot of flavour options.
V.
A couple locals said that it’s overrated, and while I accept that, it was nonetheless a fantastic burger! It’s a great representation of how good NZ beef and lamb are. I had the lamb burger myself - great price/portion ratio. The lamb was tender, the sauces well paired, and the portion size was enough to fill you - unlike many fast burger chains.
Local or tourist I recommend! Pic is my sisters Fergburger with beef.
T.
The best burger I've ever had. Hands down. The fact I still remember it from 2009, and look back on it fondly, says it all. Hope you guys are still doing really well, I genuinely miss you!
S.
We were lucky with timing in that ordering and food produced within 30 minutes. A fantastic burger and awesome crunchy fries. Quality fresh food and a burger that is hard to beat!
A.
I often wondered what made people rave about this place whenever they went to Queenstown, but now I know. Three words, Value for Money. 99% of the menu is below $20, and the burgers are absolutely massive. They don't come with fries, and they really do not need to. My only drawback is the burger with the steak in it was nowhere near as good as the Ferg Deluxe, the steak wasn't seasoned at all and did not deserve to be the priceyest thing on the menu. Still getting a 5 for the Ferg Deluxe burger and the huge 3/4 pound burger or whatever it is. 100% go if in Queenstown.
N.
Nor been in ages but I have been told it's pretty good 😋😋
S.
I didn’t understand the hype. The burgers were nice and big and a healthy portion, but I’ve had better burgers. The long waits made it worse. The chips was very nice though, that was my highlight.
C.
Doesn't really need a review, the line should tell you that this place is amazing. Definitely be smart and order by phone, although it is a right of ferg burger passage to stand in the line for 2 hours while you wait for the best burger you'll have in your life.
C.
The wait is insanely long, but this is one of the best restaurants in Queenstown so we waited 50 minutes to get our burgers. They forgot to post my order on the screen, so I was waiting for an extra 10-15 minutes, but they gave me a free drink as a show of good faith.
I got the Fergburger w/ Cheddar cheese and it was okay. The patty was a little dry and there wasn't a lot of flavor to the burger due to lack of vegies. I just tasted buns, beef and some bbq sauce. I would recommend getting something other than the Ferburger unless you like simple burgers.
D.
This a must go place. It's hugely crowded throughout the day but it's worth it. The menu is kind of gourmet with fantastic choice. We visited Skyline and walked to Fegburger and joined the queue at 9:45 p.m. on a Wednesday. We reached the top of the queue and ordered at 10:10 and our burgers at 10:30. The burgers were very tasty and good size, however, mine was too salty and hence I have given 4 stars. Standing in the queue is not boring but it's hard to find to sit.
W.
Ordered takeout around mid night so didn’t wait for too long. Fish one is quite nice and fresh. Its better than the copy cats around town I’ve tried.
N.
Very large and expensive burgers. Tried the first on menu, I guess the basic burger? But it was indeed delicious no doubt, but I’d say it’s almost the same as Burgerfuel, can’t choose between both. Tried the fries as well, it’s just ordinary fries, nothing special. The queue were very long though, and there are not sufficient table to eat and wait, gotta stand and wait for your order which won’t take too much time in my opinion. And eat at the park nearby.
z.
Despite the constant line the burger is amazing. Perfect choice for a take away and eat it in front of the lake.
B.
Still the best burger. In the world. None of this brioche bun madness that is the norm everywhere this is the real deal!
So many options and so delicious. Fresh ingredients and they don’t skimp on them either. Sides of calamari and onion rings are great too!
A.
Went there twice. Once at night and once in the morning. As expected it was extremely busy at night, we expected to wait 30 minutes but only waited for 10 minutes. The burger was nice but it was even nicer when we went the second time in the morning. Staff were all very friendly despite being so busy.
T.
Fergburger is severely overrated. We ordered 5 different burgers and only 1 of them hit the mark.
We had been warned previously that it wasn't worth the hype however we knew we had to try it for ourselves.
In saying that we enjoyed the opportunity to try the burgers but fergbaker and Mrs Ferg stood out for us and the lines weren't as long!
Props to them for following the covid protocols, I don't agree with the 1 stars purely based off the company abiding by the covid regulations!
T.
Having to wait in a queue and the a crowd of roughly 60 people for almost an hour was well worth the time money and effort for probably one of the best burgers I have had in New Zealand. Truly recommended for anyone visiting Queenstown.
R.
One of the best burger in town did try out the other favorite but nowhere close to the ferg. What's better than a Ferg burger its a free Ferg burger. We were there on their 20th birthday and got the free burger. They have some very friendly people working there, very patient even with the 100s of ppl queuing up. Don't miss this place if you r around Queenstown.
R.
Tbh burger was really good and tasty ! The Queue for getting the.burger is unmatched so better to call them and make an order before 15 min so that you can collect and eat somewhere else more peacefully. But I still believe this place is bit overhyped
j.
I was sceptical of this place if it would live upto the hype..But one bite of those amazing burgers and I’m a convert. So gud dat ended up eating one every single day..There is always long queues but it’s worth d wait...Ur Queenstown trip is incomplete without this
K.
One of the top 5 burgers I've ever had. Burger meat is seasoned incredibly well and the bacon is crispy. Only rating a 4 due to the size and difficulty of finding a seat. Best eaten to go and sitting in a park.
F.
Coming from New York n San Fran I've definitely had better burgers... But the portion is surely a win. The line was not long but the wait was not too bad.
J.
Really good burgers - not sure good enough to constitute the huge lines and fame but definitely good. Tastes like a classic homemade New Zealand burger.
C.
Best burgers in NZ (and probably the world), had one each day I was in Queenstown, can't wait for my next trip down.
S.
Holier than thought burger was really good the first time I had it, favourite vegetarian option. I ordered the same burger on a different day and it wasn't the same, but it was still okay.
K.
Don't let the queue turn you away. Every order is packed to-go by the staff, which makes the queue moves really fast. We only waited for a maximum of 20 minutes before we got our food. We also found a table for 4 within that time. Very limited seating inside the shop, but there are benches outside along the road. Burger and onion rings are very yummy!
L.
Fabulous burgers! Really love all the salad/pickles. Perfectly crispy bacon
e.
Fergburger made our order of 11 individual (no gluten, no dairy) burgers in 40 mins and we ate them at the beach park. They are pretty tasty burgers and they are big, almost too big. The Restaurant itself is super popular, prepare to wait in queue a good half an hour if you didn’t place the order beforehand. I had Bombay Chicken, 4out of5.
s.
Huge burger, satisfying and pretty awesome but not as juicy or flavorful as I'd like. I liked that the bun was soft yet firm enough to hold everything together. The patty could've been better seasoned and juicier. The wait was OK, we waited for about 45minutes. Still a must try if you're in Queenstown.
P.
Tl;dr - Tasty (large) burgers with unique flavours, in a great atmosphere at a reasonable price, marginally marred by slightly imperfect (but by no means bad) service.
5 minute queue at 4pm after rain on a Sunday, then a 12 minute wait for 2 burgers and some chips after that.
I went with the Chief Wiggum (belly pork and hash brown) and it was fantastic! The crackling was superb; lighter than a standard full piece of crackling and not 'break your teeth' hard, perfect to bite as part of your normal burger bite, providing an incredible change in texture that I've never experienced before, in a burger. The sweet and tangy apricot mustard complimented the 'melt in your mouth' fat from the pork very well, and the hash brown was light, crisp and flavoursome, with a perfect balance of onion and potato, fried to absolute perfection.
Make no mistake, these are not small burgers. Half a portion of chips, a burger, and squid is just too much for one man. All delicious, but definitely scope out people's burgers before you make that order!
Unfortunately the only downside of the visit was a small mix-up in my order of squid over onion rings in the first order, which was fixed behind the till nearly straight away when I collected my burgers, however not communicated properly, so we ended up waiting with a new number for 20 minutes until I went up to ask about it.
This is definitely a 'must-visit' for burger lovers in Queenstown, with the unique non-standard beef patties taking centre stage in a location which deserves its reputation.
S.
Didn't have the time to wait in line for over 30 minutes just to make an order so I'll reserve my opinion and sit on the fence for now.
The long line snaking its way out past 3 other establishments certainly points to its popularity. There were also a couple of staff handing out menus along the line so they are doing all that they can to reduce the waiting time.
S.
To start: you will have a tasty burger here so I don’t want anyone to doubt that, but is it worth the hype if you need to stand in line or would rather go somewhere else? Meh, no. In particular if you’re an American reading this with high expectations of something mind blowing—get a pie next door instead.
I’m a very big fan of burgers, and after trying twice would say Ferg is a burger that’s solidly standard on fancy bread—I haven’t tried the multitude of non-beef burger options (lamb, chicken, veggie, etc…)but I imagine most tourists visiting will go for the classics and receive what is by all accounts a Fine Burger. I simply can’t give Ferg extra credit for being better than a normal takeaways or BurgerFuel. You’d get similar at a restaurant or steakhouse or what have you.
Still, the staff are incredible in churning these out despite a near-constant busyness and sounds like the quality is consistent across what must be hundreds served a day. Kudos to them, and if you go somewhere else the business certainly won’t suffer.
S.
Delicious juicy burger with unique options! Worth the wait and it’s always a long wait! The burgers are HUGE! My husband and I shared one burger and it was plenty and filling for both of us!
C.
They say if you want to know the best food place in town you look for the crowd. This is definitely the case and is well worth the wait! Has to be my favorite burger in the world. The queue moves fast and the quality is top notch. You can honestly taste how fresh everything is. Ended up coming here multiple times on our trip because it was so delicious!
A.
The burger are so famous and delicious and they deliver it in terms of Quality and quantity. The burger is so delicious and big too. Just one is enough for lunch. And they are so big. Much bigger than what you pay at McD or Burger King. Highly recommended and must do if you are visiting Queenstown
R.
The famous Fergburger doesn't disappoint. The Bulls Eye burger had a whole rib eye steak in it!
J.
long queues day and night. the burgers are big and yummy and very value for money. queues are about 40 mins, moving. staff are friendly and sends our umbrellas for those waiting in the rain.
C.
Absolutely great stuff. Burger was so filling felt like a snooze after it. No line to wait in. Quick service.
O.
Even though this place is always packed the service awesome, Mean Burgers and reasonably priced!!
We went more than once during our short stay. Need I say more
A.
I may be biased coming from the US but not sure what the hype is as it tasted like a typical burger from my perspective. My only guess is their large signature burgers that are reasonably priced in Queenstown. Their onion rings on the other hand was great. For folks who've had an In-N-Out or Shake Shack burger, I'd take those over Fergburger anytime.
E.
Great burger, big size for me haha.... very long queue at lunch time and crowded. This is my first Ferg, awesome. I recomended. Love it.
R.
A must try in Queenstown! I'm from the USA -- home of the hamburger -- and I can honestly say these are delicious. Hands down the best burger in NZ. There's a reason the place always draws a huge crowd, no matter what time of day or day of the week. You'll know exactly where Fergburger is because you can see the cue lining up down the street from blocks away. Even still, wait times aren't too bad -- 20-30 minutes was the worst I've ever encountered, even on an unusually busy day. Finding a place to sit is always challenging, so most times I just do takeaway and find a spot to chill out by the lake. Reasonably priced food and a good assortment of drinks, even alcohol (although you can't leave the premises with an alcoholic beverage, obviously). Try the Mr. Big Stuff burger -- it's huge! 🍔 Vegetarian options also available. It's also a pretty brilliant operation, with Mrs. Ferg's Gelato as well as their bakery right next door (all part of the same establishment). Folks are sure to grab an ice cream or shake after they've finished their burgers, so they've cornered the dessert market too. The place is a gold mine. When my parents visit from NY, I'm definitely taking them to Fergburger!
M.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Difficult to find nearby parking and lines may take up to half an hour near dinner times but it's definitely worth the wait if you're a fan of burgers. Certainly the best burger I've ever eaten! Pictured here is the Cockadoodle Oink.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
C.
The place was very busy and many people waiting outside on the footpath. Despite this was only a 20 min wait. Staff seemed to be really organised and worked well under pressure. While we were checked for vaccine passes this didn't seem to be a consistent practice while we were there.
a.
large tasty burgers. pretty quick service for the length of the line. try going around 9am to avoid lines and get a burger for breakfast. but beware that the breakfast sandwiches don't have beef patties
A.
Amazing! Got this place recommend to me to everyone I spoke to when I said I was going to Queenstown - definitely lives up to its reputation and worth a vist
Q.
Loved the bluecod burger. It was big and filling. There was a reasonable amount of blue cod. You can phone ahead to save time.
A.
15 Oct, 2020 - I accidentally discovered this must-try 🍔 place. Highly recommend it if you’re in or around Queenstown. I had the deluxe burger minus bacon. Their meat are Halal certified and the server made it a point to make sure there was no contact with pork while making it. They were very mindful and respectful of my Halal preference.
Must try their gelato as well. I had pineapple and passion fruit👌
M.
Best burger I've ever had. Filled me for the day and tasteddelicious. A must do highly recommended.
C.
Very good burgers. Defintely the best in NZ and probably in my top 5 of all time! We had the meat burgers, which were cooked medium rare and tasted amazing! The que can be very long, we went around 8pm and waited 25 mins, but earlier in the night the wait can be out the door!
A.
I'm suspecting that the rave reviews could be from patrons that don't have regular access to Australian or New Zealand beef, because while it's a good burger it's very standard for any burger joint around Sydney.
I'm still giving four stars because it's legitimately tasty and does not disappoint, but for me this didn't live up to all the hype. Speaking of queues, they actually move fairly quickly so don't be deterred by the twenty people lined up outside - that'll clear in under ten minutes. Service is friendly and very efficient.
D.
Very busy place, so you should expect a long queue. Vegetarian burger was great and staff was very nice and friendly! Thank you very much!
J.
Big burgers with an amazing taste, this place is packed and the wait can be quite long, recommend coming in earlier or off peak If you don't want to stand outside for an hour.
F.
Burgers were tasty but not worth it to spend 1 hour on queuing and waiting. But if this is your first time in queenstown and have got time to spare, try it for once.
M.
Best tasting burger I have had in a while. the Gluten Free roll was good and the meat and sauce made was just the best. And those fries. OMG.
E.
An institution of Queenstown. We queued at midday for around 10 minutes and then waited another 10 minutes for our burger. We had the Ferg Deluxe ($15.5) with prime NZ beef, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, sweet dill pickle, lettuce, tomato, red onion, aioli & tomato relish with a side of fries with BBQ sauce ($4.9). Sorry if I am a little spoilt in London but I didn't find it as amazing as some people say! However, it was a solid (and large!) burger which still hit the spot.
L.
After a long day travelling, it was an amazing dinner! Such good burgers. So tasty.
G.
Ferg burger was busiest food take away i have ever seen. Took 45 mins to ger a Big Al. Was huge had to eat in 2 goes. Worth a trip but be prepared for a wait.
M.
Fantastic! The best burger I've had. Really interesting choice of flavours and very reasonably priced for the size served.
W.
If you're in Queenstown as a tourist I'd highly recommend coming here even if only for the experience. Don't expect it to be the best burger you've ever had though, there isn't anything particularly special about them. Having said that they have great variety and some options you likely won't have seen before all at a good price. Pro tip, go just after its rained and the queue won't be as long!
H.
Deluxe burger really flavoursome. Patty really juicy and sauce makes it for me. Love the fresh crispy roll and soft inner.
If you’re not messy by the end it’s not a good burger!
b.
A bit of a wait in line - 30 mins as this place is mega popular. You could try to phone ahead and book one but I have a feeling they might be too busy to answer the phone.
Go first thing for a breakfast burger perhaps?
Failing that the pies at Ferg Bakery next door are terrific - best Anzac biscuits I found too.
Burger was delicious and worth the wait.
D.
The ever fantastic Fergburger, what more can I say. An absolute must try for anyone visiting Queenstown.
M.
Worth the hype and wait. Recommend everyone to eat the burger when hot, takeaway might not be the best option.
S.
Good burgers and good onion rings. What more do you need?
the queues do get a bit stupid though so I would avoid peak times
M.
Crazy busy place.. Great vibe of the shop with lots of tourists.. Staff are nice and friendly, burger taste awesome. Chips r just so so tho.. Not as crispy as expected.
D.
Absolutely brilliant burger. The hype is real and I definitely suggest you give it a go. I would highly recommend you head there early if you want to avoid lining up.
D.
First time at Fergburger, despite the amount people waiting for their orders, only had to wait 15 mins and was bang on, Awsome work guys, oh the burgers were amazing too best pork burger I have ever had, definitely recommend.
J.
This would have to be one of the best burger experiences ever! Ames had the Big Al and I had the blue cod and both were divine and massive....with a coke the total was about 38 nz dollars, it was about a 15min wait which apparently wasn't bad so get there before 12pm....it is seriously worth it
M.
Had the Bombay chicken, top notch would return again. The wasabi mayo with my fries was to die for
N.
Very over hyped for what it is. The burgers are big, and the toppings all taste fresh, but the overall flavor was the toppings, not the burger as a whole. Good? Yes. Does it live up to the hype? No.
O.
As well liked by many people, the ferburger is deliciously stuffed with many healthy ingredients. I would recommend going in the night time - after 10am so as to avoid the crowd and get ur burger in less than 10mins
K.
Not a huge fan of beef burgers but decided to take the risk & I must say it was great! The meat was fresh & juicy, the bacon nice & crispy, just enough sauce & seasoning but maybe a bit too much pineapple for the Tropical Swine burger.
ProTip: order online or via the phone to avoid waiting around for ages.
G.
Best burger ever fantastic place even just waiting for burger is awesome
J.
How good is Fergburger ? well, I will come back to Queenstown just for Fergburger... that Good :) Join the queue..the service is brisk and systematic. Good things are worth the wait.. I went during peak hours on a weekday, took about 25min to get our order.. not too bad...
A.
Believe the hype, this place is good. I got the original fergburger and fries, both are quality. A++. Got there at 11:50am and waited 5 mins for the burger.
N.
Great burgers! I went here and I have to say it is great. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a good place to get a burger. Chicken 🐔 burger was the best😍😍😍😍. The only reason to visit Queenstown is their burgers!!!!
S.
all halal, use ferglovesyou.co.nz to track order. Bombay burger was the best. 20 minutes in queue and 15 minutes wait.
T.
Very nice. Very recommended burger. Taste great. The queue is long, but it worth the wait. Buy and take away ~
J.
I was told this is the best burger in town. After tried it, it’s was really worth trying, like their juicy burger with various of choice, the burger is big and enough for 2 lady.
F.
The Fergburger deluxe is absolutely fantastic, the sauce complemented the juicy beef so well! The Chief Wiggum is nice too. Be sure to grab a burger before it becomes too crowded so you can have a seat.
P.
The burgers are amazing! Really tasty and biggest, the best combination to your burger. The price is from 11.99 NZD and one beer's tap is from 5 NZD. All good in this place. Always there is line for buying but is not much time waiting to buy. Really recommended this place
K.
Honestly, I think this is one of the best values in queenstown. Food is quite expensive in this town and these burgers are huge and for a good price. I tried a couple different ones and they were all great. The only negative I can think of …
P.
Amazing burgers, worth the wait. I waited 35 minutes in line and a further 20 minutes for the order. But the burgers are up there with the best I've ever tasted.
D.
There should be a 100 club for the big Al burger. I don’t leave Queenstown until I’ve stopped by here.
A.
Must tried burger in Queenstown. Delicious and mouth watering. Loved it.
M.
Surprisingly it was easy to find a seat. The fries are great. The burger is good but not something you’d wait in a line for. It’s more hype than the taste.
T.
It's a great burger place, world famous in NZ. If you are into gaming meats, try their Sweet Bambi...
K.
Fergburger is worth the hype. Don’t let the long line dissuade you; it’ll move rather quickly! All of their burgers are absolutely delicious and juicy. Fries cooked perfectly as well. Also, a perfect spot to go after a night of drinking.
M.
Worth the hype and wait. Recommend everyone to eat the burger when hot, takeaway might not be the best option.
S.
Tasty chips. We had the veggie falafel burgers which were nothing special. I liked that they were able to accommodate dairy free and added vegan spicy aioli instead. Order online though and pick up to avoid the queue!
A.
Quite famous burger in Queenstown they use their own bread. And have options for different dietary.
L.
Does not disappoint for the Bambi - venison with Brie and boysenberry jam and it was delicious! Lives up to hype! Do yourself a favor and get in line.
C.
The best burger I have ever had. Love the burger with bacon, cheese, fresh vegetables, and juicy meat! Perfect combination!
J.
Got some takeout breakfast! I had been told “you must try Fergburger” when you go to QT and I agree. It’s a must try the burgers are good but I guess you are doing it as part of the experience. Go early (9:00am) walked straight up and ordered. Got a coffee from mrs Fergs while I waited only 8 minutes for my food to be freshly prepared.
z.
One of the best burgers I've had! Reasonable prices. Long queues and no enough tables but you can take your meal with you and enjoy the outdoors.
T.
The burgers are very good, but not good enough to warrant the excessive wait and lack of seating in my opinion. I'd recommend this place when it isn't busy. The vegetarian options, however, are nice and very inventive; not just Portobello mushroom and halloumi.
L.
Very busy burger shop. Nice burgers. Nice lamb.
Waited for 1 hour for queuing and waiting for the food. Not recommended on a cold rainy night.
E.
Had the Fergburger with double beef and cheese there plus fries with wasabi mayo. Didn’t like the wasabi mayo to be honest. But the burger was excellent. Best one I had so far! Hands down! The patties, the sauce, the buns, the vegetables and fries 5/5👌 paid 21$ for all. So very reasonable pricing as well! In my opinion a must eat when being in QT. Enjoy! :)
T.
I really didn’t think these burgers would live up to the hype, but they were bloody good!
D.
The food is really good but the line is a super long wait. I 100% recommend we always go when we go to qt. But kinda bad if ur in a rush overall great fast food.
T.
Amazing burger i have to say and full on flavourful and fantastic staff. I would highly recommend stopping for lunch or dinner at this place .👌👌🤙🤙👍👍👍👍👍
