It's got the hardware I need. The staff are friendly. The interior decoration / colours is a little on the 'slightly depressing' side, however. If it was well lit and cheerful, the feeling you get when you walk in would greatly improve.

Most of the staff here are great. Very polite and helpful people. The experience is ruined by two or three staff members who just dont seem to care, or suddenly can't do something that's been done countless times before. There was a newish lady here between January-February on the till that pretty much treated me like a shoplifter on more than one occasion (I said how many of each sanding disc pack I had to be helpful- to then have those flat packed items gone over with a microscope. The same lady on the same week demanded to see my receipt for cut timber I had just waved at her (with my account printsheet attached) and I had to stand there a good five minutes as my printout for three cut lengths of one type of skirting was poured over for some kind of discrepancy. The third time I can't remember but I was treated like rubbish by the same person and I have not been back since, until today the 25th April 22 when I needed something specific. Again, a great experience with a great team member (on the service desk) was trashed in the last five seconds by a most unhelpful till operator, cementing my thoughts on going anywhere else but here.

I loved this place because the staff are friendly, they will help with the heavy lifting, if they don't have what you want in stock they will order it in for you and the delivery comes in about 3 days and then you get notified about it. The shop is clean, always a parking bay, reasonable pricing, staff that are always willing to help.

Had the best and worst experience here today. Assistant in the garden centre was awesome. So helpful including offering to get me an umbrella when it started raining. The checkout was a different story. Older woman working on the checkout held a conversation with the woman behind me the entire time she took to process my purchase. Not even speaking to me once. Bunnings New Plymouth has a credible plant nursery, a good selection of tanalised timber posts (not roundwood) and most hardware, paints, etc that you expect from a Bunnings. Staff are very helpful. Online items are sometimes not available, but can usually be sourced.
