A conveniently central place to stay with scenic views over the lake. The check in staff were super friendly as were the restaurant staff. I was made to feel welcome and safe, ideal as a solo female traveler.
The highlight was the birthday surprise where you went above and beyond expectations. Thank you for providing a memorable stay.
J.
Very nice hotel. Pool area had a lots of choice with 4 mineral pools, a plunge pool, a spa and of course the main swimming pool. I did see room for a sauna and i think this would be a great addition. No silly covid rules required either.
i.
Very hospitable hotel located by the lake front park redevelopment.
This was the first time we had stayed here.
Our bed & breakfast deal was well priced.
Our room was spacious, well maintained clean & tidy as you would expect.
D.
The staff throughout the premises in all roles were absolutely delightful and so helpful. This in itself elevates this hotel to a top rating. Of course there were quirks here and there but I left with a warm feeling thanks to the staff.
Also great to have a good array of Sky channels, wonderful indoor pools, etc. Awesome playground across the road and eating precinct right next door.

Really great helpful staff. Spent a couple of nights here with the family. We have two young children. On the first night my wife went down to reception to find out where the closest place would be to buy a bottle of milk for the kids. The staff told us not to worry about going to buy milk and they would come up with some for the kids. They turned up with two full çoffee cups perfectly warmed for the kids to have before bed. They also told us if we ever need any more milk or anything else, just to let them know and they would sort it, which they did.
The room itself was spacious, nice and clean. Both the bed itself and the mattress on the fold out couch was very comfortable. Bathroom a bit dated but not really much òf an issue.
Breakfast which is normally a buffet was not a la carte due to covid but could pretty much order anything you would find on the buffet and they just bring it to you at your table.
Location is fantastic right by the lake which has a great play area for the kids to ride their scooters/bikes or play at the playground.
Would 100% stay here again the next time we are in Rotorua. Not only was it worth the money that we paid but the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff really made the stay here wonderful.
G.
Pleasantly surprised. Friendly efficient staff, good sized room and facilities and location. Only issue was the bed, very soft mattress, formed hollows where you slept. Would stay again but would check bed first
T.
This was our wedding anniversary and my wifes birthday so Id planned everything to be perfect.
A few hiccups occurred across the board including with our accommodation. Incorrect details recorded, updates not made as requested.
Given 4 stars because of the efficient and quality resolutions made on the day by lobby staff and the manager.
They were so apologetic and did everything they could to improve our stay.
We left feeling appreciated and having enjoyed our stay with them.
Thanks.

The rooms are well maintained and are in good conditions, the facilities are clean and kept to a high standard, the local playground and big lobby was suitable for our family. Would recommend.
M.
Absolutely loved my stay here , so did my 2 boys🤗 Top notch service, very welcoming🤩 Everything near by very handy. Highly recommended for sure
Q.

Our family of 2 adults, 2 children, one of which is 7 months old, we wer booked for 3 nights but added another night making it a 4 night stay, although exspensive, we had no complaints. The staff who work throughout the premises wer super friendly and helpful. From the cleaners to the waiters in the restaurant and reception staff. Our room was super cozy with nice views of rotorua lakefront. The beds wer super comfy and was so handy to have been given a cot for our baby. Only downer was not having cooking facilities that became quite expensive as we had to dine out alot throughout our stay. But overall happy. Thanks for having us Novotel, wel definately be back 🙂
M.
Great location nearby the waterfront and local restaurants. Great for EV owners too. 2 tesla chargers at the rear and a type 2 plug out the front. Lost point for the horrendous eco shower head that trickles water and fluctuates in temp. That and leaving two half used rolls of toilet paper without a spare. Good sized towels though. Bed and pillows were comfy and decent size tv.
T.
Friendly staff. Clean and neat rooms. Room was only serviced late in the afternoon. Room well stocked but bathroom lacked storage and was frustrating to use.
R.
Very clean, very tidy. The buffet breakfast and dinner was delicious. Facilities well presented and great.
Atmosphere was awesome, very family friendly. Location was spot on. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you for having us and looking after me and my family.
a.
Very clean, comfortable bedding, the pool n spas were great the park right across the road breakfast was amazing I will be going bak there in the year thank U Novotel it was a great stay.
S.
Very quiet hotel nicely decorated for Christmas. Lovely scene to watch the progress at Lake Front. Very generous well cooked and presented meals served by friendly helpful staff.

Clean tidy place. Staff Dean & Nathan were amazing! Nothing was a problem. Anything we needed they provided. My husband and I were supporting our friends dads memorial service re playing guitars n singing. Staff Manager Dean had reserved parking spaces out the back 2 make it easier 4 us to move all our equipment from the car to the novatel conference room n helped too! Thanks dean for our coffees we really appreciated that thoughtful act of kindness! ☕ Nathan showed us how to operate the sound control including the lighting system to provide various options during the service. Nathan ensured things ran smoothly by regularly checking in so to see him was very comforting & reassuring. All the staff were friendly welcoming n helpful. Thank you all so much Dean & yr amazing team! May Novatel business grow from strength to strength esp wn the restrictions ease. God bless 💕
e.
buffett def worth the money.
kai preemo, lots of options. prawns/seafood fresh. oysters were fat and juicy.
greeters had average service but cooks were cool as!
coffee machine a bonus.
clean, parking easy
hotel was lovely
D.
Rooms were quite fancy, quite and very comfortable, the staff were very sweet and helpful. One of the better places to stay on your travels.
T.
Very enjoyable stay. Pillows were too soft so we didn't sleep well however still loved the service.
H.
I have never had such service from hotel staff, they are best i have ever had! They are the bees knees.
Rooms are tidy and very nice, bathrooms are s bit older but still very good.
s.
Stayed here last weekend for my birthday Staff were very friendly and helpful. They organized a little birthday cake with candle that was sent to our room which was nice. Breakfast buffet was great one of the best I've been so far. However the bathroom/toilet needs upgrading and not very clean.
J.
Lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was well appointed. Comfy bedroom. Dilmah tea an excellent bonus😊. Close to the lake and town eatery's. Only issue was the room was too warm!
O.
Beds are super comfortable. The hotel is in walking distance to majority of the eating places and if u walk a little bit further u will find yourself at the mall. Free parking for guests. The spa and pool is amazing.... Great way to relax.
S.
Brilliant. My 5 year old daughter and I stayed 1 night. Clean room, good facilities. Pool and spas were great and the buffet breakfast.
Assistant Manager Jess was fantastic and very helpful. Definitely stay again.
A.
Quite disappointing service.
On check in no one told about breakfast time or private spa or other hotel facilities. We wanted to book private spa but were told that they can only do it once a day and someone had been there before. That sounded odd. We spent some time in the pool and geothermal pools instead.
Variety of food for breakfast was reasonably. But staff wasn’t really accommodating. They only allowed you to sit on some tables but no one actually walk you to the table. I’ve witnessed how people were asked to move to other tables when they’d already put plates on tables. It was confusing.
Rooms are comfortable and spacious enough.
R.
We weren't told about the $100 hold charge for booking the room or the surcharge fee for the credit card beforehand. We really enjoyed the thermal and cold water pool and the beds were a lovely body cuddle. And I would like to add...there wasn't enough milk for people who need it in their drinks. For what my daughter paid so Me, Her, her elder and youngest and my youngest could visit Rotorua for a "roadtrip" had to exclude a visit to the Wildlife Park? You are lucky I didn't one star you.
R.
Great facilities and view. Unfortunately, our room has a stink, musty smell. Time for an upgrade.
P.
We stayed the weekend for our 30th Wedding anniversary. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We got so many treats like room upgrade, fruit platter on arrival, bottle of wine in room. Special towel sculpture of two kissing swans on our bed, cute touch. And, a voucher for 2 hours of drinks in bar with a free meal each. We didn't expect all this. Awesome fantastic, appreciated, made our weekend so special. Thanks to the staff and management involved.
K.
Great place. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff
J.
Very nice entrance/foyer and a good sized restuarant. The pool area very much could do with modernising and the room we had was very run down therefore it made it over priced.
We also felt very few staff had a smile but we think they were under staffed therefore very over worked and stressed. House keepers doubling up in the restuarant not a good look.
J.
Had a great stay. We loved the breakfast and the swimming pool. Rooms were nice and they listened to us and place our four families all together in one corridor. They had a safe storage area for our bikes. All round a great stay for our first time in a hotel in NZ (normally stay in a Bach)
W.
We paid for a double studio for 2 nights. When we arrived, when we arrived we couldn't check into room till 7pm due to staffing and cleaning issues, the original front desk people we dealt with were reluctant to do anything further but ring cleaning staff etc.
Credit to the manager as he transferred us to another room. We headed up and found it was mid clean. So went back and they ended up giving the room for half price.
The staff are great from cleaning to bar staff. Engaging and friendly.
Handy to township and main eating areas.
S.
Great views and clean tidy rooms. Exceptional breakfast, lovely thermal spa and pool area🥰
T.
Came here for the buffet dinner and was blown away. Fresh hot meat constantly coming out of the kitchen a good variety of kai (food). Sushi bar salad bar soup bar a mini seafood bar and a mean pudding station and superb service . Definitely better than valentines well worth the $50. Recommend this place for sure
L.
Staff were friendly and rooms clean though bathroom could do with of a bit of a refresh. Located is great close to Eat street. Nice little spa pools available to use on-site.
A.
Rooms definitely need an upgrade. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. Chipped tiles, stained toilet bowl, grubby carpet, everything looks a bit tired. Buffet breakfast was very nice and staff were friendly and helpful. A mixed bag but I won't be back.
S.
Wonderful gentlemen looked after us on arrival, made my life a whole lot easier with two teenagers and a booking mix up by me in room size.
Super friendly service by the two lovely ladies in the bar, cocktails were Devine! Bar menu food by the fire, good enough not too need the restraunt.
Be prepared to wait to get into the restraunt, very popular with the locals too.
Definitely will be staying here again. ♥️👏

Stayed in the suite under level 2 covid. Nice stay in a PERFECTLY positioned hotel. Very tidy and clean , with a warm welcome. Yes, as some reviews say, it is a little worn in places - but aren't we all? And this is picky for a wonderful room - the carpet on a couple of stairs was worn!!!
This was an easy 5 star review. Why only 4 stars? Bought some beer but forgot a bottle opener. Could they provide one? No. They could send someone up to open my bottles as I go but I didn't want to have to call on someone every 20 minutes to open a beer (yes, I am a quick (heavy) drinker. Had to go out and buy my own.
Wonderful place to stay. . . . Just remember your bottle opener.
J.
Staff were excellent and helpful and friendly.
Everything was spotless and clean.
The only slight annoyance was that the alarm clock in the next room went off and didn't stop.
Restaurant staff were knowledgeable about gluten free options.
G.
Room was satisfactory and the lobby was decorated for Christmas. Kids loved it
A.
Ordered coffee and hot chocolate in dinning room. We're told to go into lounge to have it. Took for ever. And I mean a realllllly long time. Had to go and ask in dining room where were they...Was so disappointed. Maybe they should have offered a free muffin for us...... but no.
G.
Firstly, the staff here are fantastic, possibly the best we have experienced in NZ. The facilities in the hotel are great, as is the location and free down town parking. The rooms were however average at best, have stayed in rooms costing half as much that were better in every way. Pillows and bed were horrible, shower was weak and coffee was horrid. May have been acceptable 10 years ago but given the options available in Rotorua we will stay somewhere else next trip.
U.
The pool was very small for the size of hotel and number of guests that could be staying.
S.
I thought the food and room were good. One critique would be that during my stay I saw multiple families pushing the massive trollies full of their bags and struggling. Old , young, mothers with kids etc etc with no help. Suggest for customer service that there are service or support staff to help when they see this.
R.
Very friendly staff each one greeting us when ever we were seen. Was there for a work function beautiful selection of nibbles before hand with a fine selection of drinks available non alcoholic included. Main meal was Devine plenty of selections of meat and salads roast vegs and pastas plus vegetarian options. Our room was very clean and crisp with stocked bar too. Had a great view from our room. Very very happy
C.
Great location and thermal pools 👌. Restaurant booked out both nights make sure to book ahead. Buffet breakfast was fantastic! We had the family room carpet stained and rubbish bins filthy, I guess that's what no plastic lining means.
D.
Awesome service, having a couple kids with us can be stressful but the lovely stuff are awesome and patient and not iverky judgmental.
Felt very welcome.
Once again meal was lovely but the staff were awesome.
L.
We were there for buffet breakfast only. Great selection to cater for our group and value.
Service was great and the lovely lady we had on the Saturday morning was probably the reason we suggested our group of 22 went back on Sunday. Very accommodating and friendly.
H.
Stayed in a Junior Suite for one night. Unfortunately there are a few maintenance issues in the room that spoiled my stay. Firstly the aircon really didn't work properly. I had it on the strongest and coldest and sure the room was facing west so the setting sun really heated up the room but the aircon didn't really took hold until 10pm at night! The Spabath in the bathroom would not stay on for any longer than a few seconds. Because I was only there for 1 night I didn't really raise these issues that day but I did email in my concerns upon departure. Unfortunately I have not got a reply.
H.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. We travelled with young children, one who came down sick while we were staying and the kindness and compassion by the reception staff was fantastic
L.
Quiet, comfortable, fantastic location, right near eat street and the lake
J.
Delicious lunch, very good conference facilities.
b.
We stayed here just last night. Eventhough the room was bit dated, it was clean and nice. Love love loved the hot spa which is free to use! The bed was comfortable and room was quiet. I was very impressed with the front desk staff. When we checked out, my daughter was very cranky.. she is only 3 years old. When she was crying, the lady from the reception gave her a little kiwi bird doll and the jar of m&m beans! It was so lovely to see my daughter's big smile! Thank you very much for being so kind and professional. You made her smile all day!
B.
We enjoyed our stay very much
L.
It was good to know Novotel Lakeside had Pullman Rotorua's back when we got evacuated at 2 am in the morning today due to flooding in the upper stories. Complimentary breakfast too! Unfortunately no one had explained how the card needs to be inserted into a power box thing for us to turn the lights on so we were trying to look for things in the dark. The bathroom wasn't very appealing but just grateful we had a place to stay for the rest of the night/early hours of the morning.
S.
Been here multiple times and am always looked after well. Great setting and service. Food is great too
C.
Hotel room head a lovely view out across the lake. Really near E Street, so lots of restaurants nearby. Hotel is well presented, fittings feel fresh and new. My room was very clean, all the fittings felt new and everything worked. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast in the hotel, had some different dish's, a juicer and was nicely presented. I made a late booking and my room wasn't ready on arrival and there was confusion on departure but everything worked out without any fuss.
M.
I really enjoyed staying in your Hotel. The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and warm. Loved the pillow!! The Room service cleaned, made the bed, replaced the towels in the bathroom the next day, and someone also came in and checked to restock the minibar. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, in fact all the food we had throughout our conference was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
K.
We stayed at several Novotel’s in NZ and really enjoyed this one. The rooms are clean, modern and fairly well updated. The staff was friendly, especially the dining staff-they went above and beyond to help us. Loved the breakfast buffet, such a great assortment. We also tried the buffet dinner and it was enjoyable, all you can eat with a wide range of choices. This Novotel is located within walking distance to the lake and right by eat street. We had a car but walked around the town most of the time thanks to the convienent location of this hotel. Would recommended and stay again!
Y.
Beds are phenomenal, service is lovely.
Will be back again

I cannot gush enough about our stay here. I came with my mum for work and stayed an extra night (we hadn’t planned it but it was so lovely to stay there).
From the minute we walked through the doors - everyone at reception was friendly and helpful and acknowledged us every time we walked in.
The staff at the restaurant and the bar were great and the atmosphere was lush and relaxed and comfortable. Food and wine great ! Our beds were awesome ... slept like a baby. It’s at the top end of price per night, and normally I wouldn’t be able to stay here for work but I am so happy we came on a super busy week in Rotorua because the hotel made our stay wonderful. Thanks !!!
A.
Okay budget hotel and inferior compared to other Novatel hotels. Expect to have room dark at night as the room only had two bed lamps. Also, the clean quality can be improved
C.
This hotel is quaint, and has good service, however, the rooms definitely need upgrading. The splendour of the lobby, does not match what you receive in room (in particular, the bathroom).
They also charge $10 a day for WiFi, which is ridiculous. No modern day hotel would do so. Even the local Burger King gives free access.
My review seems negative, but all in all, this hotel is lovely, and is worth the money to stay. It's in a good location, and has good people working there. The rooms are clean, and it has good facilities. It just needs a tad more aesthetic work. 4 stars
B.
Had a great three day stay here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice and central to everywhere we visited.
S.
Went for.drinks in bar ...warm...comfy seating ...snacks and hot food available...at lake end of Rotorua city ...great venue ...fee steps away from.eat street
C.
We checked-in here for 2 nights for some Rotorua adventures ( coming from Auckland) and we had a pretty good stay. We availed of the breakfast buffet and for its price, the spread/variety of the buffet was worth it. It helps that the restaurant also is quite spacious and has great views of the lake (you need to go early for the best seats though...). Bed was big & comfy and bathroom was spacious. We were at the 4th floor and had good Rotorua Lake views. Perfect and it's juts so calming checking out the views from your room window - morning or night, Heavenly! Room was clean and all amenities are provided. Check-in & check-out were smooth & fast. Both the front desk and houskeeping staff are warm, courteous, helpful & professional. Since their hot pools were not available during our stay due to maintenance reasons, we were given passes to go to "Polynesian Spa" instead and we enjoyed it on our first night. Location was good, too - as we just walked to a strip down where there were some good international restaurants within the vicinity. We tried 2 of these restos ( Indian and Korean ) and we enjoyed them. All in all, it was a nice stay. Worth a visit again when we are in Rotorua.
F.
Friendly staff. Good location, just across restaurants and the lake.
J.
We walked in and booked girls so pleasant especially Naomi, checked in a couple of days later, great service, lovely room, Buffet was Great, a massive improvement on our last visit.
A special thanks to Naomi who we again saw on checkout .
Overall can not fault anything so thankyou to all staff.
L.
Amazing hotel comfy beds and a indoor spa, geothermal spa, and pool
I.
Had a wonderful stay here. It is an affordable hotel with all the basic amenities in the room. The room is of a standard size and is clean.
Facilities in the hotel include free gym (with a good number of machines), and indoor pool area which had geothermal pools, spa and sauna. The private pools require bookings which were fully booked when I was there. A buffet breakfast is also available.
Overall, the place is good for families and of a mid range price.
T.
The lake view room was fantastic and was my favorite part of the hotel. They allowed us to enter earlier than 2pm as we arrived early. The hotel lobby atmosphere was good. Services were average. Loved the gym room with equipments.
N.
In general the hotel was ok. Excellent position in proximity to eating out. It's a little tired in terms of decor. Buffet was very good. Though I thought some of the reception staff were a little abrupt. And they did try it on for charging for WiFi when checking out. Overall I have stopped in better Novotel hotels in New Zealand. (Christchurch, Wellington were better)
M.
We had a corner king room with a lake view that certainly delivered on the view. The room itself is fine, with a bed that claims to be a king but feels just a little smaller than that. The bathroom is serviceable but don't expect anything too luxurious. The TV is large and the couch is comfortable and well-placed in the space. Ultimately this hotel is overpriced, but is a good mid-range hotel in this town. I've stayed in other nearby properties and this one is better than their competition at this level.
A.
Last minute diversion to Novotel as online booking service for another hotel double booked & bumped us. On arrival Novotel staff were accommodating & very helpful. My husband & I enjoyed our stay so much that we cancelled our other booking despite the offer of an upgrade & special rates, & booked into Novotel for next 2 nights.
Our room looked toward the lake, it was quiet, spacious, clean, nicely appointed, with a very comfy bed & quality linen. The curtains blocked out all light & we slept undisturbed.
Tea, coffee, milk & toiletries were replenished daily but provision of moisturiser / body cream would have been a bonus as I had forgotten to pack any & very cold weather induced dry & itchy skin.
Room service was quick & reasonably priced for late night pizza. We decided to walk everywhere rather than hire a car & were less than a minute from Eat St & 8 minutes to the hospital to visit with a sick relative which was the purpose of our stay.
At the end of each day we would traipse back to the hotel to soak in one of the fantastic thermal spa baths located on the ground Floor next to the gym. A total bliss out!! It was school holidays & very popular for many guests so we chose to soak at around 10:30pm before 11pm closing. There were always plenty of big, thick towels even at that time & the sight of flushed, happy, relaxed people draped in towels in the lift heading back to their rooms sparked engagement & conversation seldom seen in elevators these days.
A non slip surface exiting the pool area into the gym is needed as the floor was very wet, unsafe, slippery & difficult to negotiate.
We really enjoyed our stay.
Addendum
Forgot to add this to hotel survey.
We did not use hotel Wifi which costs & should be part of the overall package & free..
We did however frequent the cafes & bars for brekkie, lunch & dinner on Eat St which included free wifi.
R.
Very pleasing on all counts. Friendly and efficient welcome. Excellent room. Very good buffet (diet - what diet). Truth be told the buffet was what drew me to stay, having recently eaten here while staying at the neighbouring IBIS. Offsetting the buffet though was the gym (not a regular user of these things but did this time). Wish I'd bought shorts to use the thermal pool. Will definitely stay again.
B.
Beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are dated and dirty and need maintenance. Housekeeping entered our room without knocking. Pool and gym are excellent. Location is excellent. Views of the parking lot leave a bit to be desired but we didn’t come for the views here.
M.
Very nice place to stay. The breakfast spread was very nice. The chef would make fresh pancakes and also eggs to order. They also had a couple of Indian dishes. They had their own spa which is free for in-house guests. The hotel is very close to the walking street which hosts the food street every Thursday which should never be missed
A.
Had a lovely stay here. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms clean and well presented. Nice views over the lake. Lovely thermal hot pools on site, cosy bar to enjoy sport by the fireside and beautifully presented food at The Atlas Restaurant on-site. Hotel is handy to childrens’ Park, lakeside and local shops and restaurants next door too. Mobility friendly parking and building, bar and restaurant access.
E.
Great hotel in a great position. Would have rated it 5 stars if it hadn't turned its restaurant into buffet only. It didn't cope with a full house when we were there. Food ran out. Chaos. Decided not to eat there for evening meal. Breakfast wasn't easy either. I don't like queuing for food. Don't like seeing kids wiping their noses then touching the food. Sorry to be so critical of a...what used to be a great place to eat... when we stay at that hotel.
K.
It was awesome. Today is my sons 10th birthday and he wanted to go out for dinner, so instead of going to mc ds we decided to go to the Novotel. We had mentioned that it was my sons birthday so they gave him a slice of cake with a candle and had a few staff come and sing him happy birthday. We didnt realise they did that, my son said this is his best birthday ever.
The food was really yummy, staff are nice and friendly. Overall it was good would recommend to all
S.
Rooms are spacious and welcoming. Not a big fan of bathtubs. They also forgot my wake up call which meant I missed breakfast and was late to my meeting. WiFi was slow and intermittent. Not staying here again, a little disappointed as an Elite member. Will try the Ibis next door.
J.
Loved this hotel. Highly recommended. Checked in late, but staff was still very friendly and assisted us with helpful details.
K.
Room was ok, a little underwhelming, wardrobe door only worked properly on one side. Pools were extremely awesome but very slippery floors from pools to change rooms when busy. Loved the on-site restaurant for breakfast, great variety, friendly staff. I had to check that I had booked breakfast as it wasn't mentioned at check in, check-in was busy and had to wait awhile. Check out was quick, easy and staff member very personable.
J.
While we were pleased to stay at the hotel and the staff were all pleasant and helpful, we feel the hotel left it too long to upgrade and refresh the decor and fittings of the rooms. Our room was tired, although the view was excellent. The buffet food in the evening was disappointing which resulted in us not wishing to use the restaurant a second time. Breakfasts were acceptable but not matching the standards of other hotels. Coffee from the restaurant machine was not pleasant. The hot pools were an unexpected bonus and enjoyable to use.
S.
Our room was comfortable and clean though a couple of the lights need their globes changed. The bed was blissfully comfortable with lovely pillows. The bathroom was well appointed though I'd have liked more bench space. Chairs and couches were comfy. The bottom drawer on the desk was poorly aligned and kept hitting the wall when being opened and closed. The coffee machine was lovely. We'd have liked the teabags and milk replenished daily, which didn't happen.
Outside the room the staff were all really lovely - friendly, welcoming and helpful. I'd have loved it if the bar staff knew the right sort of glass to serve things like brandy and liqueurs. I'd also have liked a dinner menu from which to select my meal a la carte rather than buffet style, though the food was tasty.
I was in Rotorua for a conference and there were times when the toilet rolls and hand towels ran out in the ladies' toilet. I liked that we were offered the opportunity to select our main courses for the dinner. Placing te salad and later the dessert centrally on each table seemed wasteful as very little was eaten. There were problems with the microphones throughout the conference. I think that's it. Overall a positive experience though the problems mentioned above slightly marred oyr stay.
L.
Check in was a breeze, the room was great.
We loved the hot thermal pools and swimming pool in the basement.
Breakfast was superb, I enjoyed the tastiest oatmeal I have ever had.
All staff we met were so nice, especially the Thai lady cleaner outside our room, she was so lovely and a credit to your hotel.
A.
Really awesome location next to park and Eat Street. Rooms pretty dated but comfy. Buffet breakfast is amazing, it caters for everyone.
K.
The hotel was very easy to find and it is located in a great spot. Upon arrival, (unfortunately I forget his name), but it seemed as though we were almost bothering him by arriving prior to our room being ready. We had no problem waiting however he was quite short with us. It was very different than the other Accor Group hotel we had just came from in Auckland. The rest of the staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful with any questions or concerns we had.
The lobby was beautiful and spacious as was the outside of the building. This however, did not reflect the interior of the hallways and rooms. Once we arrived on our floor (floor 2), the carpet outside the elevator looked as though it had been there for several years past its retirement. As well with the rooms, they seemed tired for a 4-star rated hotel. There was rust in the shower stall and buildup of minerals on the shower. I do appreciate that the hotel is located in the middle of natural spring water loaded with minerals, however I do think that this should be taking into consideration. Although the stay was very pleasant overall, I felt myself asking how the Novotel Rotorua is able to be rate 4-star, when comparably speaking other 4-star hotels in NZ were leaps and bounds above.
Breakfast was well stocked, supplied and provided a morning feast each day. All of the staff in the restaurant were friendly, efficient and accommodating.
One major complaint the noise in the hallways. The guests were extremely loud to the point of almost having to tell them ourselves to be quiet. Although we didn't bring this to the attention of the staff, it is sad to experience something like that. Where people are not considerate enough to not yell in the hallways.

There were 8 of us all arriving at the same time, occupying 4 rooms. We arrived after dinner on a Saturday night and stayed for breakfast before we left to go home.
When I booked, staff immediately tried to accomodate to all of my needs. Including making sure that all rooms were on the same floor, in short walking distance from each other.
When we arrived, all staff were attentive, courteous, helpful and informative. Bedrooms had a modern de'cor feel. Lovely soft bed and linen. Clean and tidy bathroom. Room with a great view of the lake.
The location was close to other bars in walking distance. A rugby game was on and we decided to walk down the road to watch the game. We were unsatisfied with the seating in the local bar. During the half time of the game we came back to the hotel and found the hotel bar. The hotel bar was cosy, tidy, seating and furniture in modern comfortable decor and well kept condition, well designed. We all realised that we should have gone to the hotel bar first.
Great variety of food on offer for breakfast. this included international breakfast choices as well as continental and cooked breakfast. We had gluten free, vegetarian and other types of food preferences were catered for. Overall, the best value for money. A great time had by all.

We really enjoyed our stay. We found the facilities very good and the room very comfortable. Minor complaint was on our checkout day only one elevator was working and stairs were not easily found or near elevators. Other than that very pleased with all round service, standard of the rooms, the pools and the buffet restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

Friendly professional customer service. Fast efficient reception. Rooms adequate for business needs. Love restaurant and bar facilities with open fire range subtle lighting to suit mood. Spa was nice & gym facility to destress. Range of parking available. Lots of sitting spaces to relax. Location is great near waterfront & 2 minute stroll to CBD. No concierge available. Rooms clean with subtle lighting. Overall suits my short stay on business.
k.
While the room we would class as tidy with everything you need (definitely not a wow factor) the restaurant is beyond words. We had the absolute best seafood buffet meal for our 25th wedding anniversary. Oysters are my husbands favourite food and he couldn't believe his eyes. Zane the chef cooked the best steak and venison, Zane you are amazing! Breakfasts were absolutely fantastic and the hotel staff were the best we have ever come across - all smiling, very friendly and very accommodating. Revamp the rooms and you have one of the best hotels in NZ. Well done, definitely be back.
R.
It was simply amazing staying here. We had a good time, nice clean property by the lake. Good eating options just near the hotel. Take walk around the lake. Beautiful views from the rooms. Enjoy hot water pools and spa. They have small little gym as well.

What a FANTASTIC experience with our accommodation and staff at Novotel Rotorua Lakeside this weekend!! A ROYAL treatment and fairytale experience thanks to the professional, kind, caring and personable attitude of the manager Jess who went above and beyond any expectations to make our stay pleasent and enjoyable. Jess, you made our stay in Rotorua unforgettable!! Novotel should be very proud to have such a dedicated and caring employee. Also, Danielle - excellent customer services and very pleaseny manner, you are such a good front face of Novotel!! Great place to relax, superb food, great staff, excellent location, fantastic entertaintment, highly recomend it. Seven stars from me!!!

I chose Novotel because of its great location in Rotorua and from past experience, knowing the excellent spa facilities. Having a bad back, I was keen to have a good bed to sleep in and the luxury of a hot soak before bed. The spa area is open until 11pm, when I visited at 10pm it was swarming with children throwing balls and dragging wet towels around the floor. The supply of dry towels was exhausted and the 'hot' pool temperature was nowhere near the 41° displayed on the board but more like a lukewarm cup of tea. Nobody was in attendance and the place was generally in chaos. I know it was a busy weekend, but all the more important to have sufficient staffing to cope with the additional demands. Maybe an 'adults only' policy after 9pm could be a good idea for the spa area?
So, we decided to go for a nightcap in the bar. Prices were OTT but I expected that. What I didn't expect was to have the rugby on the big screen. Come on, this is not a sports bar!
Back to the room, we couldn't connect to the wifi.
On the positive side, the reception staff were excellent.
R.
Clean and friendly staff, great food
A.
Everything from the booking to the departure was easy and straight forward. The reception staff were friendly, efficient and informed. The restaurant manager suggested a meal in the bar when we found the restaurant full - a suggestion that not only kept us in the hotel but provided a more ambient setting for a very enjoyable meal - well done. The room was clean, warm and comfortable - all in all, excellent.
M.
Friendly efficient staff. Super view. Lovely buffet breakfast. Very convenient location. A minute away from "Eat Streat" Very near the lakefront where you can catch the seaplane, jet boat, parasailing, or cruise excursions. 5 minute walk to smaller geothermal pools and less than 10 minute walk to Government Gardens
D.
Functional rooms. Beds we're quite comfortable. Would have liked a second chair. Breakfast buffet plentiful. Wished I had seen the sign that chef could do special orders. Would have loved an omelet instead of runny scrambled eggs. Front desk staff very helpful.
N.
Nice hotel. Good facilities. The pool was a little disappointingl. It was advertised as a famaly pool but it was more like a day spa. Great if that's what you want. Not so great if you turn up with some kids. Nice setting right on the lake and very close, Las than 100m, to Eat Street which is a great place to eat and drink.
N.
Grand entrance lovely big foyer
Reception very welcoming n helpful even the young lady when paying the account. The carpet was stained all along the way up to the room disappointing. The view overlook eateries carpark park n lake to the side. Another letdown was the ripped sheer curtain.
Our bed was huge n comfy. Great thick towels n nice toiletries. We enjoyed complimentary teas n large tv to watch rugby. Slept well. The shower was an old school pull leaver out so water diverted from bath to the rose. The basin enamel had some slight cracks too.
Good selection mini bar n nibbles.
Wardrobe ample with Xtra blankets pillows n safe. A stain on sofa too. In need of some Xtra updating recover along with the veneer mdf desk n luggage bay with cup boards.
Would like to have tried the pool area n restaurant next time.
S.
It's nice enough but was missing details I would have expected for the price and the walls were paper thin. The Spa and Sauna were good but showers took ages to warm and it could have been cleaner. Exercise room was decent. It had the amenities of a good place but just little things were not there and you could tell the cut corners.
Q.
Pool area was nice but kids can be a problem. The hot tubs are very relaxing unless someone is throwing a ball or splashing around. Maybe an adults only spa area would be good.
There were not opening windows in the rooms.
The bar is nice, but choice of liquor a bit limited - French Rose is now a must.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
A.
No issues with accommodation at all. Decent sized rooms, comfy beds, very good buffet selection for breakfast & dinner. I was there at a workshop & needed access to the internet - the internet worked most of the time however, at times, it was very slow and 'timed-out' a couple times.
J.
We had a mix up with our booking and were upgraded to the Executive suite.
This is by far the best accommodation in Rotorua. We had an awesome view of the lake from one window and the town from the other. The beds were very comfortable.
The buffet breakfast here is superior than other local buffet breakfasts.
The bar was modern and comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Will definitely stay here again.
E.
Friendly staff and good pool spa sauna and gym facilities. Had a view of the lake which was nice. Stayed in the superior room but found it quite small for a family of four and no extractor fan or Windows that open, or balcony. Wifi worked well. Kitchenette area too small.
K.
I enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the staff, when face to face, were very nice. However, the ventilation in the hot pools room is seriously subpar, and it took *1 and a half hours* for us to get some towels. Seriously. We rang reception and asked for towels and after waiting half an hour we rang again etc etc. So if you need towels, march down to reception yourself (dripping wet) and get them, don't wait for them to bring them to you! Also the bathroom needs updating.
I.
Had a wonderful stay even for just 1 night. The hotel location is just perfect, very close to the lake and next to an alley with many pubs and restaurants on both sides. Breakfast buffet menu was great with many choices and surprisingly they serve fried rice when I was there. Room (cleanliness, amenities, bed, pillows etc) was great as usual for a Novotel and Accor group hotel. Quick check in and check out process and felt welcome as Gold member of LeClub Accor Hotels.
B.
We enjoyed our stay on Sunday 21st and again on Thursday 25th. Both rooms were adequate for a one night stay, but we did feel the beds, bathrooms and carpets need an upgrade as things are looking a little tired. Reception service was great, as was the bar and food we had there.
TV in the first room we had 508? appeared to have a damaged LED screen and there was a look of red petrol running over the screen. Reported it to reception.
Booking in and out was seamless, great parking.
S.
Enjoy late winter short stay at the Novotel Rotorua, I suspect the facility have high turnover, as many items (such as the nightstand legs are all almost broken; the hot spa's handle rails are all loose and shaky etc.) yet nobody seems to notice it... as well as the gym bathroom lacks attention during high usage time such as the afternoon and the evening, waters flood the whole changing area and nobody notices! it would've be better if small attention was paid to these areas... Other than that everything else seems to be okay..
I arrived in a mini-bus, and was raining outside and where the bus parked to the hotel there's no cover footpath, it is still in the hotel complex and no back door was accessible so i had to run in the rain from back carpark all the way round the building to the front entrance, make me feel a bit uncomfortable.
there was no facilities guide in my room, so I didn't know where the amenities were, as expected in a 4 star hotel such guide would be helpful for first time visitor such as myself. there was no ear buds or other toiletry kits..
So overall the small things are not taken care of, but the big things are okay. So overall satisfied.
M.
The Hotel was lovely and we enjoyed the sauna and hot pools.
I won't ever try the restaurant again. I can't do dairy, gluten or soy, so I was confident that they would be able to modify a dish or two to accommodate me, as most restaurants do. Everyone was very helpful and kind, but it took forever standing around and speaking to various people to sort it out.
I was just unhappy that I was charged the full buffet price when the steak I got was standard and cooked if you paid for the buffet as such. Had I known that, there were a lot of side dishes I could have had. Paying $49.00 for a piece of steak and steamed vegetables felt like a rip off. They also brought me a soup which I didn't enjoy at all.
I got much better food and service at the little restaurants nearby.
J.
visited for a conference and wasn't too impressed with some of the facilities. The speaker's microphones didn't work if people were on the hotel wifi, food was tasty but dietary requirements weren't always clearly labelled, toilets ran out of toilet paper both days. Staff were lovely and the building is very nice but the little things put a damper on the experience.
Z.
Checked in after a long coach drive from Waitaimo & the attitude was I was doing them a favour.
No Wifi, even the cheaper motels down the road offer free Wifi.
When asked for the lake view room upgrade for travel agents "sorry none available" then 2 mins later 1 came available but $40/night more.
I would not recommend this property to my clients.
S.
Lovely breakfast. Didnt get rushed to leave, big buffet selection. Staff were helpful.
T.
Love the novotel hotel franchise. Love their service and will definitely stay with this hotel again in future. The only challenge with the room was its noise isolation is poor. Sometime you can hear people taking at the walkway from your bed. Their breakfast was on average but enough to fill your stomach to start the day.
D.
The reception area and staff were great. We were in room 415, room was clean and tidy but old and tired. Paint peeling on ceiling above the bed and the bathroom, although clean was was very worn.
Breakfast area, we understand it's busy but on Saturday, there were a number of uncleared tables, left for at least 20 minutes.. we saw a number of guests arriving for breakfast having to move plates etc to another uncleared table so they could use it; we had to do this to. Sunday was better. On Saturday evening, after having our anniversary dinner, we thought we'd return to the hotel bar for some drinks; we asked the bar lady for the drinks menu and made our choice of the 12 year old port.. she checked then came back apologetically saying that unfortunately all port was finished, ok .. no problem, can we have 2 Amarula on ice ... sorry, no Amarula .. ok how about this cocktail.. sorry, that ingredient is out of stock.. she was very embarrassed. We thanked her and left, walking back over to eat street. We come to the Novotel for our anniversary (second year in a row) specifically for the pools.. we really enjoy it and want to return again to relax and have a lie in etc.. we would recommend an "adults only" wing.. I would even pay a premium for this.. we had a crying baby in the inter joined room, oly the doors to keep the crying out, then kids running and talking very loud and excitedly in the corridors at 0630, no problem with kids.. fun to be away from home, but would be nice to have the option to stay in a quieter part of the hotel.
A.
For such a high profile hotel I was surprised by the lack of foresight in staff numbers and the lack of thought as to placement of items during the conference. Considering it was a conference and there were other guests as well staffing was totally inadequate, especially in the one and only bar. Most of the food was good (don't go for the chicken!). Staff friendly, rooms clean.
R.
Absolutely loved my stay. I booked in for a birthday treat for myself. I Loved my bed that much i wanted to take it home. Lakeside concert was on ,so it was really handy being straight across the road . Rotorua certainly know how to put on a fireworks display . I hope they keep the concert on the same weekend .I included breakfast in my booking and that just topped off a wonderful stay. Having Eat street right there on your doorstep was another bonus. I have already booked again for next year.
S.
Great place to stay. Not a great shower in the room. Buffet food not for me. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will come back 😎
P.
We had a nice 2 day stop in Rotorua staying at the Novotel. We had an easy check in and a nice city view from our room. Great size room.
Breakfast was only an average experience. There was a large conference on and unfortunately for the staff they had a few technical issues with one gas burner not working so the "egg" lady was flat out, the toaster had the settings changed by a customer so it wasn't working and the coffee machine went into meltdown all at the same time. Unfortunate. However our food was tasty and we enjoyed it.
J.
- hotel bathrooms looked a little old however were spotless and clean
- the room we had was king room, but there was a door in between ours and the room next to it, where there was a young family with kids. We were trying to sleep but it was way too noisy with all of the noise coming through the door. The hotel was nice enough to get us a new room as soon as we rang. This one was a little better but I must warn that there seems to be an issue with thin walls or lack of noise insulation between them because we have stayed in other hotels which were much much quieter.
- good location near lake with nice views
- the breakfast had a wide selection available with a fresh juice counter and all the typical fare
- staff were friendly and kind and cannot complain about they’re hospitality
- no free wifi!!!! This came as a surprise to us. You have to pay $10 extra which is weird in this day and age where it’s such a staple offered everywhere you go. They have an option to sign up to they’re rewards programme to get free wifi but when you are a traveller it is the last thing you want to be bugged with.
S.
Accor said that we would receive a welcome drink but we only got one which seems strange, should be one each as we are a married couple.
We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the bar and also enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant. Bed and pillows were comfy. Great view from room.
Great using online check in made things quicker.
T.
Very fancy hotel at a great price! I love the buffets they have done in the restaurant! High quality services, and friendly staff. This hotel is amazing!
A.
The hotel is definitely nicely located with very easy access to the lakefront and to many restaurants and shops in town. Staff is very nice especially at front desk which let us check into 1 of our 2 rooms at around 10 am in the morning since it is already available. Rooms are nice and ckean. The only complaint when we were there was that the restaurant for breakfast was under-staffed.
c.
Really impressed with this place. Awesome location with very friendly staff who looked after us very well. Only down side was the shower/bath. The water pressure was weak and there was a little bit of mould forming in the shower and out shower curtain was ripped at the top. However these things could be easily fixed, wouldn't make these negatives stop you from coming here though.
Overall a lovely staff at a awesome place
L.
Second time and will be back again the upgrade to a room with a view was amazing, love the breakfast and love its proximity to eat street,
It would have been a 10 out of 10 but my wife who ordered a soda from the bar was asked for ID and had to go all the way back up to our room to get it, which we felt was odd as it was non alcoholic and there were kids in the area.
Apart from that it was great
W.
Booked a last minute weekend. Checked in early at 11am, was promised a king bed, was given a twin share room. The hallways smelled like new paint. Highlight was the geothermal pools, they were really nice! And the service from Rose in the restaurant was fantastic!
D.
Dissapointed with buffet, not worth the price have had better in the past when stayed.
Treated as single booking in the past been couple booked.
Pool area very dark the new wall sucks the lighting. Not the oasis you mentioned in facebook posts as great refirbishment. Didnt notice anything different.
Not enough information in rooms you used to have a better welcome package on arrival we booked superior room and nothing there apart from an old newsletter.
F.
Check in was easy, service staff wonderfully welcoming, room was immaculate, well sized, providing services promised i.e. lake view, room service was delicious (after 10pm too), breakfast excellent and check out easy. Overall, a very satisfying stay.over a busy period with the Lions staying as well. Will definitely stay again
K.
We were given a corner room with a view on the 3rd floor. The room was clean which I wasn't expecting given the first impression as you step out of the elevator. Dirty, stained, smelly carpet and scratched up walls. Please replace the carpet it looks horrid. The guest service associate gave my husband and I a few complimentary drink coupons since we were on our honeymoon which was a very nice gesture. Great location and would stay there again but it needs major updating.
M.
My husband and I totally enjoyed our 2-night stay at the Rotorua Novotel in late July 2017. Our lake-view room was spacious and well-maintained. The geothermal pools were soothing. The gigantic lobby was very welcoming! Its location being so close to EAT Street is also a big bonus. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
赵.
I had a great night in the royal suite here.
L.
The hotel was clean and tidy. The beds are comfy and the spas are nice after an activity filled day. Buffet breakfast is the usual, everything is displayed nicely and plates are removed quickly. Always enjoy staying here.
W.
The room with the view was perfect. If you could tell me the name/model of the bed in room 529 that would be great - it was absolute heaven!!!!
Atlas Restaurant: My meal was not put through and I ended up eating alone as my partner had already received his but they staff were lovely and compensated. Once my meal arrived it was lovely.
D.
Great hotel, lovely staff. Wish the hotel organized parking better. Maybe a separate area for bigger cars? If 2 utes are parked..its very perilous to negotiate the space between.
R.
Once you've gotten over the smell, this hotl was reallygood. Good sized rooms, well manered staff, restaurent were friendly and helpful, the natural hot pools were good too. Definitely the highlight of the stay was Alex who checked me in and was a pleasure to deal with.
M.
Ideal hotel fantastic views of the lake very friendly and helpful staff the private spa experience was just lovely plenty of tea bags in the room but no coffee machine other than that a beautiful stay
T.
Room after complaining and upgraded was all right. Great consistent service and ***agement willingness to makeup for shortfall in service. Breakfast the next day was excellent especially as we planned to be on the road for most of the day. Not sure how they have created the culture but it is outstanding.
T.
Rooms were comfortable, washrooms equipped, beds offered a good nights sleep. Room was clean and tidy as always. Lovely staff although they kept forgetting about our late check out. Close to end of eat street mall and great restaurants. The location was a real convenient where everything is a walking distance.
D.
Brilliant fun! Great entertainment- watching the haka done properly and laughing watching the blokes learn to do it...us girls had a go learni g the poi..but all very funny. I hit myself in the head twice...much harder than it all looks but really good fun...fabulous staff and excellent food. All the visitors were put at tables with other visitors from the same country...so that was extra good!
E.
We used our free night because of necessity, but what an awesome choice it turned out to be.
Staff welcoming and helpful, particularly the bar staff and reception. Upgrade to an amazing room with lake view.
The most comfortable bed.
Just perfect.
Thank you
J.
There is a Manager at this hotel that is a real asset to this Hotel. Young Maori fulla, had some things to sort and he handled it with the upmost professionalism. I hope Novotel look after you because you really know how to look after your guests
A.
we went just after the refit and the hotel was shiney and new.
we came in late from the drive from Auckland via hobbiton and they got us into the restaurant just before they closed.
food is excellent and the duty manager was going round the restaurant talking to guests and he gave us free drinks witb the meal and Wi-Fi for the whole of or stay.
The hotel even did a pack lunch for us on the day we left which was excellent.
The sulphur smell was hardly there for our stay so it can be hit or miss what the smell will be like but it is in a volcanic area.
R.
Beds were comfy, room was clean. Breakfast was great! The sulphur content in the air was heavy there, which might bother some people. The "hot tubs" are all natural, so not very hot and smell very bad. It might be some folks idea of a good time, but I didn't care for it.
s.
When we came to check in, we were told to come "after 2pm" since the system was down. That is not an excuse considering we have to check out at 11am (not even 24hrs stay). You should be able to do a manual check in if required & not inconvenience visitors.
Overall, location is very handy to Cafes, Bars & Restaurants. Stay was good. Room was clean & neat. Will definitely come back next time.
S.
Average stay this time beds were too soft and uncomfortable. Buffet breakfast was fantastic as always staff were very nice. Did not receive our news papers only time I didn't bring my shower cap as you have always had them but don't seem to have them any more.
L.
My Granddaughter and I felt like two "Princess's'' thanks to the staff who made our stay comfortable, tasty and enjoyable.
The room was clean and well maintained and the beds were oh so comfortable! Reception staff are so pleased to see us, they made us feel welcome and wanted. Housekeeping staff take extra care to ensure we're content. This is most appreciated. Restaurant staff were also outstanding, ensuring we were looked after like we were the only people in the restaurant, which was very busy at all meals we enjoyed there. The bar staff too were cheerful and seemed to enjoy being able to serve us.
I have personally stayed in several Accor hotels in Australia and NZ with this one take top marks in all areas of service. The meals are wonderful! This hotel is like 'home away from home' - only better as I'm treated like a princess, being waited on and everything done for me. What more could I ask!
We always eat at this restaurant when visiting Rotorua as we are served fresh, wholesome and delicious food that is very affordable (as we have an Accor card) in comfortable surroundings that has good parking and views. What more could we want!
Many thanks to your wonderful staff, please take this as a personal 'thank you' .
Kindest regards
Judy Carter
D.
Lack of parking meant that we had to walk some distance with our bags to the entrance. We were then worried about the security of our car at night. Room was tidy but in need of some minor maintenance on it. Offers a bar fridge service in the room but wasn't even turned on. Comfy but nothing special.
B.
Visited back in early 2020. It was reasonable for the price, but nothing special. Mostly just good for the location. Rooms were on the small side.
B.
Comfortable, clean and accommodating Staff approachable
P.
The hotel itself was modern. the check in process was easy and fast and the rooms were bright and modern. For this hotel there needs to be significant attention to the breakfast buffet.
Soup plates were laid out for the cereal.
The cereal dispensers were raised on a bench and often cereal bounced out and fell down into a gap between the table the dispenser was on and the front wall.
The food was abundant but more care needed on how it was laid out. The scrambled-eggs were undercooked, the bacon was heaped in an unattractive pile in a deep bowl. The serving spoon holders often had a lot of spilled food making for a sloppy look.
Attention to the restaurant will improve the image.
C.
Service is good and the Team are friendly, they really make an effort with Accor Gold and Platinum members. This hotel is very run down and is in dire need of some TLC. Short of the general dirtiness, our bathroom was blanketed in mould. The outside windows were in a shocking state. We understand that it's Rotorua; but that's an assumed risk - in comparison to other Accor properties, this is Expensive.
P.
We had an amazing stay at this amazing hotel driving up from Wellington. The restaurant was also amazing. Friendly staff top notch! Hope to come back one day! Highly recommend!
R.
It is a lake view hotel, can get a view of the overlooking lake. Pretty close to the Eat Street, restaurants and shopping. Could modernize to enhance the lobby and rooms. Rooms are spacious and breakfast is good.
P.
We went to Atlas bar and restaurant. We had to wait a while to get in as there was only one person to greet and seat guests. The food was good but not fantastic. The choices with the buffet option were many but let down by a lack of selection in cooked vegetables. Both our drink options, a Chardonnay for my wife and a low alcohol beer for me were not available so we had to choose something else. So while not an unpleasant visit, for the price paid there are better places around. If the price was more reasonable, then I might be willing to go back or recommend to a good friend. But as is, neither will happen.
T.
Was good only complaint was one chair had dome sand on it but other than that. Pools were great gym good
S.
I attended an all day private company seminar at this hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and spacious facilities. Excellent dining room and food. Comfortable airconditioning. A pleasant and enjoyable hotel and experience...
K.
Under beds were dusty & items left by previous guests, no face cloths. No instruction on where to find hotel information until we called reception who advised on tv.
Unfortunately we could hear children crying and adults yelling in the room next door throughout the night.
We did love the breakfast and found room service was very quick (although overpriced).
T.
I loved how the staff were so amazing and always helped with all the questions and situations we had. The bed toppers make a nights sleep ridiculously comfortable. The hotel is very close to town and the local eating facilities. We are Accor members and this is so worth having.
T.
Very nice hotel. Almost on the edge of the lake and within walking distance of Eat Street and city Centre. A few marks on the carpet could have been attended to but good standard of cleanliness. The rooms where very clean. Very good value for money as everything done so professionally.
R.
Good service, lovely room which was an upgrade - we loved the lake view from this corner room..
Friendly and helpful staff on front desk.
Nice to be able to park at the door.
Cool candles at night in the entrance lobby - so welcoming.
T.
Comfortable hotel. Rooms are a little tired. Fabulous views. Very clean. Nice bar. Great breakfast. Perfect central location. Close to lake and Eat Streat, a walkway with retractable roofing full of eateries.
m.
Impressive experience! I booked the executive room and man they delivered! Top views, excellent location, brilliant atmosphere, great room, very good pool and spa.
Well worth it.
Good parking space.
Recommended for sure
E.
The hotel is in a perfect location - a two minute walk from Lake Rotorua and right next to Eat Streat, which is lined with many restaurants. The hotel staff was friendly, professional and provided excellent service. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We ate in the restaurant, which has a pleasant atmosphere and a massive buffet - so many choices. If I return to Rotorua, I will stay at the Novotel again.
A.
Clean tidy nothing to sing out about expensive for the quality.
My room to start with no internet or Rv working.
Second move and moved myself no assistance.
Second room looked worn curtains stained carpet stained
No price list for beverage fridge no green tea advised 1 staff had none other staff very obliging
Was not able to get a seating in restaurant for Saturday unless waited 2 hours
When left bag was advised had to wait till next day before could be looked for
S.
Lovely view King room looking over the lake.. Absolutely beautiful! The spring breakfast buffet for 1dollar is an excellent incentive for our stays at Novetel rather than looking around for a cheaper deal.
R.
Some aspects of the hotel seemed updated and modern and others not so much. View across the lake was nice and the hotel is very central to the restaurant strip and nightlife. Probably one of the best situated hotels and best all round amenities. Updated rooms would have given 5 stars.
S.
Easy to book, staff very easy to deal with and welcoming.
I aLways try and stay with Novotel utilising my Accor plus membership, been one of the best loyalty cards that I have paid for would recommend to anyone who is a regular traveller.
I booked this room for my daughter and family who had been travelling and ended up having to stay overnight in Rotorua due to a very unwell baby and an unexpected hospital visit. I was confident that they would be well looked after at Nonvotel and they were. My family couldn't stop talking about how awesome the staff were and how they enjoyed their one nights stay, a nights stay certainly took away the stresses of the day. Please pass on a big thankyou to the staff at Novotel at Rotorua who were on duty the night of Tues 30 through til Wed morning 31 May. Thanks too Novotel for your very competitive and affordable prices for Accor Plus members🙂
b.
Novotel has a good breakfast spread and nice rooms. There is a "Eat street" in walking distance of the hotel and the food there is also great! For those who want to see the sights, there is a lake with black swans and seagulls beside the hotel(I came when it was in fall) plus swings to play On. It was overall a fun experience and quite scenic to watch the sunset on the Horizon.
D.
The stay was lovely yet again (we stayed there 2 years ago when we were last in Rotorua). Just a couple of minor comments. Firstly, room service needs to ensure that the cushions on the bed (not pillows) gets changed regularly too. For the five days we were there, i had the same unpleasant smell on the red cushion on the bed. Secondly, trying to go down for a last swim on the morning of departure was made hard by the fact that the keycard refused to work numerous times (and this was before check-out time), even after 'resetting' at reception. Given we have an infant with us, it was highly inconvenient having to wait while my husband or myself headed back to reception to reset the card. Also, we were unable to order room service one night because no one was answering the phone, despite us making a few calls.
C.
Delightful dinner with a decent range of varieties in the buffet and desserts, with really good service and a nice view that can catered for a large group. Which we thoroughly enjoyed, I rate this place a 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A.
We had stayed at Novotel from 20th to 23rd as I was hosting an International Quality Conference. We had booked over 300 rooms with 5 hotels to accommodate our 385 international delegates. We found our stay most pleasant and your staff came across as warm and genuinely helpful and friendly. Would love to stay again sometime . regards Abraham President NZOQ & President Elect Asia Pacific Quality Organsation
M.
it was ok. I have been staying at the novotel Rotorua every year for the GP conference over the last 5 years (or thereabouts) and have always found it to be very good. I must admit, the most recent experience was not up to it's usual standard. Parking seemed to be particularly problematic this year! The other problem was with trying to order room service from my room 508. The line to order room service seemed to automatically transfer to an external line every time which ended up at some random guys voicemail - Some guy called Jardin? (the external calls appeared on my final bill at check out but were corrected). Cleaning didn't seem to be as good this year with plates and bottles being left behind etc. So yeh, overall the standard does appear to have slipped somewhat over the last few years and for the first time I am considering a different hotel for next years conference :(
A.
Very friendly, clean and comfortable. But room chilly even with heating on high.Restaurant nice but a little expense for buffet dinner.Bar nice and cosy. Would recommend for great central location.
M.
I had a satisfactory experience while staying at Novotel. My room was clean and tidy. However, all my pillows were really uncomfortable. They felt like feather-filled pillows that were either slumping down too much or were too high and uncomfortable. Some "Perfect Sleep" pillows from Briscoes will be nice.
The other annoying part is that a large group of us come there round about this time every year but the check-in services always take too long. Wouldn't it be faster to get people to fill in the form and get everything apart from the keys sorted. When the room's free than our
belongings could be taken to our rooms while the keys will be the only thing we need to worry about when we come in.
M.
We found the pool was a little cool for winter.
We often take our Grandchildren to stay at Novotel Rotorua (aged 5 & 3) and would love to see children's meals at the dinner buffet such as Fries, Chicken Nuggets, Fish bites, pizza slices.
Lovely lovely staff.
J.
Recently Novotel has been my hotel of choice when I travel to Rotorua. Its strategic place is ideal as it is walking distance to the main food strip and town area and it is right next to beautiful Lake Rotorua.
In fact in the last 4 months I visited Rotorua twice with my family and stayed at Novotel for both times.
Both times we felt our stay was comfortable and happy with the overall stay at the hotel.
However, as Accor Gold member, there is a dedicated lane for checking-in at the reception. But both times we were there the desk is always unattended and even when we queue on the lane; we did not get the priority service and we ended up having to queue back on the standard lane.
This is the same during check-out as the priority lane was also unattended. It would be nice if we can get priority check-in and check-out.
Other than this; we had overall good experience staying at the Novotel Rotorua..
c.
The hotel is ok, more or less what I expected.
The room could be cleaner... not bad,but I found some hairs in the toilet.
What ai didn't like was the check in. Not friendly at all.
I had paid for an early check in and when I arrived I was told that she was not sure there was a room available. I said "then what did I pay for?" And the answer was " I said I was gonna check" in a non friendly way.
I am the client and I expect some "kindness".
That is not the way to answer.
T.
I am leaving this hotel today for the next part of my tour and i am truly grateful for the professional and sincere hospitality our family has been shown. Warm welcome from Thomas and help with heavy luggage. Keep up the great work Hapita it was lovely to meet you and wish you all the very best for your future.
S.
Staff was really helpful and polite, great service overall. However, the hotel is very outdated, cleaning not to the highest standard, TV doesn't work properly. The spa pool was really good, clean and lots of towels available. Thanks to a great staff, our stay was pleasant.
L.
Welcoming & relaxing. The service was fantastic & friendly, however we ad the cleaning staff knocking on our door at 9am when our check it time was 11am. Shurely there could be some way to communicate with them when people have checked out in order to prevent this unwanted awakening or interruptions during our stay, as this isn't the first time this has happened to us upon staying at the Novotel.
O.
The service is great and staff are helpful and friendly. Found a used cotton stick on the floor which is believed there is area to improve. Also personally feel the bed is too soft and wonder if it is possible to request a firmer one.. I will come and stay again!
L.
Hi- I like the location of the Novotel in Rotorua and the staff were pleasant and helpful but there are a few things you could do to improve.
The carpet is past its used by date - needs replacing.
One of the towels I left a note on because it was so tattered at the ends it was suitable for the rag bag.
I believe I was overcharged for my room service meal. I ordered a chicken and brie burger, and icecream, and a gin and tonic which I was charged $40 for. A glass arrived with icecubes in it but no g and t, so the room service lady said she would get it for me. I received a g and t but got charged another $9 for a drink on top of the $40.
M.
Front desk staff very friendly and helpful.
I was surprised that there was no sky movie channel like at other novotel hotels I have stayed at. However, that was a minor detail.
I have stayed at the Wellington Novotel and Auckland Airport Novotel hotel and the decor at these properties seemed more upmarket. However, the room was comfortable and everything we neede was there. Very grateful for the great view of the lake from te room. Thank you
R.
I specifically requested a room with bath and sky movies to take my hard working wife on a romantic date. I was given a key to a room which we went to which had no bath. Went back to reception, were given a new room which we went up to which had a bath but no sky movies, called Reception whom advised some one would come up to the room with a new remote. After waiting an hour and calling a second time to the reception someone finally came to our room (very nice staff member) whom played with our tv and advised that the tv was not working so we were again shifted to a new room where the tv worked. By the time this was all sorted the romantic evening had fizzled out so we went to bed. Disappointed.
A.
Great hotel right in the middle of town. Enjoyed inhouse Spa, Sauna and hot water pool. Restaurant/bar is great too. Hotel is just next to best eateries in Rotorua and 100 meters from the lake. One of the best hotels I have stayed in Rotorua. 5 starts from me. The room was awesome too, clean and good size.
A.
A good stay friendly check in and out. Rooms need refreshing. Terrible shower. Great views
D.
Our room was allocated to us and another family, so it was a little strang when someone else came in. Water was not working today, but that was the fault of a tradie. Room wasn't made up by 3pm. Overall not a great experience.
A.
Room was ok, reception staff friendly but acting a bit unprofessional while they were chatting and joking before serving us. Table service wasn't good. Food very average. Probably wouldn't eat there next time.
F.
Went during Easter, busy time. very hard to find a parking space in Novotel car park after returning from dinner. Had to park on road.
Great lake view, but room is a bit smaller than other 4-5 star hotel at the same price. Free Wifi but unbelievably slow, couldn't even watch youtube at 480p, I mean it's 2017 you gotta do better than that.
g.
We enjoyed our stay overall, but Saturday night in the dining room our experience was not so good. The dining room was chaotic, the staff on duty were under pressure and understaffed. We waited to place our order from the menu, but had to leave after 15 minutes and go and find somewhere else to have dinner as the staff were too busy to attend to us.
S.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Great location - close to restaurants and city centre. Free parking. Stunning lobby. Carpets in passages badly worn. Room a bit small but sufficient. Safe didn't work. Bathroom with bathtub shower, dated and water stained but clean. Lovely view from room. Basic gym area.
J.
Clean, nice hotel. The room was modern and clean. The hot pools here are lovely and included with your stay.
Fabulous location, Eat street was right across the street, we were right on the lake and walkable to downtown Rotorua.
C.
Great location in tow0n walking distance to food shops entertainment
J.
Atlas restaraunt is fantastic! Atmosphere is quite nice n the food whether it b breakfast or dinner is yummy ! Havent stayed (er... yeh... i b a local)
P.
Nice gym and indoor pools but i wouldnt stay here again i coulnt sleep room was so loud. Though this place is very convint to town. Stuff nice
C.
Has good amenities. Paid $400 for the night and no complementary breakfast! Disappointed for the money paid.
I.
Very good thanks. The only problem was the WARM showers. This is the second time we have had a warm or cold shower at your hotel. The issue was dealt with very nicely at check out and we will not be hesitating to stay with you again.
Regards
Ian
T.
From the time I arrived I was greeted with a warm smile and great customer service. I was impressed by the surroundings and how beautiful everything looked. Very professional and excellent surroundings. I was impressed by the way I was treated and the hospitality shown. Well done Novotel! I will be back and will make sure I let all my friends know.
Ngaa Mihi ki a koutou katoa. xx
C.
The whole Rotorua experience was a delight.
The Novotel Rotorua Lakeside is a nice place to stay. However I think some if the furnishings need a update. The carpets were looking a little tired but overall a great place.
S.
All was fine, nice and easy. Sauna was not really hot and my silver jewelry turned black after swimming (needed some polishing afterwards). Maybe it should be worthwhile to put a sign at the entrance to the pools and hot tubs to remove all silver jewelry.
k.
Near dining place with different varieties to choose from. The rooms are clean and the bed was great. Need to train the receptionist to be more welcoming though.
E.
We wish to commend Dave and Paul who were the front desk staff on duty Sunday 28th June 2015 for their exemplary service given to me and my husband it was truly beautiful. We were in Room 510 under Aladina Harunani and we both enjoyed the stay at your hotel as a newly married couple and enjoyed all the help and courteous service given to us both. We would certainly love to come back again one day in the near future when we are in Rotorua again.
V.
This hotel is having nothing except good location (lake side view). Average rooms , bathrooms.Average breakfast. Rotorua is very beautiful itself . But i was not satisfied wid room quality. I have a doubt if its novitel or not ! They have inside hot pools which wer nice . Overall ok ok hotel. Explore some other one .
K.
The hotel is in a reasonably good location, close to resteraunts and bars. The rooms are comfortable and we'll laid out. The hotel needs an upgrade and remodel. While clean, it feels old and worn.
T.
Nice room but when it rained for a whole day, water came down inside a wall and large pillar to leave wet puddles on the carpet which began to smell.
The hotel gave us a discount due to the inconvenience as we didn't want to move when we were leaving the next day but took two request to get someone to come and soak up the water with some towels.
J.
We absolutely love coming down to stay with you, with two kids we find that we can keep them occupied quite easily while also spending quality time with them as a family. Your staff are amazing, and this is key to why we keep coming back to stay with you.
J.
Came here for a three day conference. Must amazing service experience. Rooms were big and comfortable. Wait staff was attentive. Event went off without a hitch. Nothing was too much trouble.
D.
Great location and excellent staff. Rooms are clean and tidy. Most been refurbished in last 2. years.
Close to big selection of restaurants.
J.
Staff were excellent, but overall cleanliness let the hotel down.
I was on L1, and there was obvious building work going on in one area. However, round by the lifts had filthy footprints on the carpet and the windows in my room were so dirty, it detracted from the view.
P.
Very friendly and professional staff. Rooms are good but not great. Everything was clean, be the carpet was a bit dated. Bar and restaurant are good. I will stay here again.
c.
The room was nice and the service was good as well. We enjoyed the breakfast but this was the only hotel so far that did not offer wifi for free at the room and, being tourists is sonething that really counts.
D.
Food kept running out at the buffet and my Venison cooked while you wait was so small (2 mouthfulls)
Check in and out was fast and friendly
What looked like fecal matter on wall by toilet roll, I was able to wipe off apart from that room was very clean and tidy.
No guest book in our room
S.
Excellent hotel. Rooms quite large for a standard room .
All staff excellent and polite that beautiful Kiwi can do attitude.
Room
It's large and very spacious. A little outdated compared to the market in Rotorua. But none the less it was cleaned to top standard and services as well with excellence . The room amenities are plentiful. So many tea options.
The pool spa and thermal pools were excellent as well. Small area but was kept clean and tidy . The gym is massive didn't expect that at all.
Breakfast and dinner is buffet. And I thought it was amazing. For the price point.
Breakfast it has all the usual items but they also had bagels and McMuffins. Not even Pallmen down the road had them. Live cooking station is also great. Staff all knowledgeable about dietary .
Dinner buffet
Seafood options
Oysters, Mussels, Prawns, scallops, sashimi (salmon) prawn cocktail, whole salmon fish, sushi, raw fish . Dead food chowder and fish chowder .. also a cooking station for chicken Scotch fillet and venison, sausages , prawn skewers . Excellent options . Also a ice cream machine and station.
If you like to sleep with curtains open. The rooms that are 19 at the end are not so private they are corner rooms right next door to the window people wait for elevator you can see in the room.
Others wise all was great and excellent will return . Thanks Novotel.
L.
Excellent location, close to the centre, restaurants and the harbour. The breakfast is fantastic, very complete, hight quality and very fresh. Great staffs. I didn’t like the shower, it’s not strong, also leaks to much, spills to the side (not straight).
L.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Kitchen staff knew about gluten free options as well.
M.
I stayed in your Hotel on the weekend and I was very impressed with the quality of care I received during my stay. The complimentary breakfast given to me and my two sisters was appreciated as was the free WIFI. It certainly made our stay more comfortable due to the fact that our circumstances bringing us to Rotorua were that my daughter had been in a nasty car accident! My daughter was transferred from Rotorua hospital to Waikato the following day and we followed her over feeling very refreshed and well looked after. A special thankyou to Zavannah for going out of her way to make us comfortable during a very emotional time. You are blessed to have her on your staff. Many thanks.....Andie Clark
M.
Stay was great. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast though, was a bit chaotic and seemed understaffed at times, though this did not impact our experience in any way. Would stay again if in the area.
T.
The stand out at this hotel was the staff. The Novotel is located in a prime spot minutes to Eat Street & the heart of town. Being Accor members we ate at the restaurant for half price so that made it really good value for money. All up though, Rotorua Lakeside is a good place to stay.
J.
Loved it. Always stay with Accor Hotels.
E.
Beautiful location, friendly staff and good gym. Rooms are dated and bathrooms small and tired. For $340 a night I expected more than a shower curtain over a tiny tub.
M.
Food great, especially breakfast. Was busy morning but staff were excellent and polite. Good value and good range of options for breakfast. Go check it out.
K.
Very comfortable king size bed..we go back to Novotel Rotorua every year for mineral pool n seafood buffet dinner. Thanks for chocolates on check out...kept us going on traffic jam back to Auckland. The best!
L.
The buffet was the best ever...in any country. Beef, pork, chicken, fish, fresh bread and desserts, ice cream cones, potatoes, kamara, and salads in so many forms. The lights and heat clearly keep the foods healthily fresh.
L.
It was a really good experience. Perfect and the best location for Rotorua Travellers. Efficient Reception. Very very good buffetbreakfast. Very relaxing. Simple. Nice lobby. GOod Sauna. Geothermal pools were packed all the time so I was not abl to use it. For those going to Rotorua this is your destination.
M.
Friendly staff, spacious rooms. Beautiful views of the lake. Only a five to ten minute walk to the Polynesian Spa. Also there are plenty of dining options both in and around the hotel.
R.
Lovely hotel, the breakfast buffet is awesome. Great atmosphere, would come here again!
W.
A superior twin room, beds were small, so not an completley comfortable experience, expected that as a family room beds would be larger.
Staff polite but not friendly. Spa and pool good.
K.
beautiful place 1 stay and yummy food
M.
Was comfortable and spacious. The staff are all very friendly and made sure all the needs are met.
Glad I got the breakfast included. Was a good surprise that I got a good view of the lake from the room.
V.
Grab an Acor card about $360 and get a nights stay in one of their hotels, plus 2 for one meals at breakfast or dinner buffets, that's $16 each when we go for unlimited breakfast, great price.
Nice food, as you would expect.
R.
We spent two nights at the Novotel last weekend Fsntastic customer service and the food in the restaurant was great especially the awesome omelet a lovely Lady chef cooked us for breakfast and the Buffet dinner was great to thanks Novotel for the great weekend 😀
D.
Great views of Lake Rotorua, it is located near downtown, 5 min walking from the museum and a variety of restaurants. Rooms are good, pool and Hot tubs till 11 pm are just what you need after a fullday activities. Breakfast is buffet style, very good.
L.
The hotel gave us a pleasant surprise for our wedding anniversary stay. They also gave us a corner room so that we can have a relaxing 3 nights with them.
M.
Very pleasant stay, friendly reception staff, bar staff obliging in the relaxing bar area - outside tables available, liked options available from menu at the bar- only spent one night so will be back for an extended stay
J.
Your reception staff are delightful and made us feel very welcome. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable with a view out over the city.
W.
A work / conference trip, amenities great, food and refreshments great, close to everywhere. Only thing to suggest is to lower the room temperature in the house bar a bit.
Definitely recommended (mind you - I wasn't paying for it - which definitely helps).
D.
Nice and cozy stay, outdoor pool and spa is really warm and relaxing, even on a cold winter night!
Spacious hotel gym
Buffet breakfast has just about everything
Walking distance from a selection of restaurant dining options
K.
Very very nice facilities and rooms. We enjoyed the pools very much. Only downside was needing to pay extra for Wi-Fi.
D.
Last minute decision to stay. Got a great room rate which included breakfast. Check in stuff very friendly. Room very clean. The geothermal pools just what the doctor ordered.
S.
The Hotel is excellent, in a great location. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. The only let down was the meal at the restaurant for Dinner. For $50 per head it wasn't up to the standard of other aspects
F.
A great weekend. Lovely room great dinner and request for room service and ice was done on request.
H.
The hotel is looking very tired. Carpets in a poor conditiin, lifts slow or not working. Fixtures in bathroom look very old and yes i realise it is because of the sulpher. The door into my bathroom had swelled at the bottom.
t.
loved my stay here, great quality rooms, lovely buffets and is a very convenient location for multiple night stays as it is close to restaurants and cafés.
A.
Great -very relaxing so close to everything and a breathtaking view. Clean and tidy and well maintained pool and well equipped gym. Service was spot on and helpful. Will stay again!!
C.
Our one night stay was excellent, love the Rotorua Novotel Venue, its staff and the cleanliness, however the restaurant always seems to be short staffed for dinner and breakfast. Can you please put more staff on as this is the only fault I can think of.
M.
Great staff, Great Restaurant with a Bar and Buffet, Seafood was superb and meals were cooked perfectly.
Not bad, but fantastic place to be, totally recommend to anyone!!!!
J.
Was great service, good location & fantastic buffet. Really enjoyed, thank you
D.
Good bed and pillows. Didn't spend much time there except sleeping. Mineral pools were ace.
B.
The best big hotel in Rotorua. Excellent breakfast and evening buffet. TVs are tuned to a good selection of channels. I can't think of any obvious downsides.
J.
My stay in Novotel was so lovely and relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed the pool and gym facilities. The breakfast was delicious and staff members were polite and helpful.
T.
Fine nothing that made it out standing or terrible. We found it quite difficult to get hold of reservations after 5pm on the day of our arrival. We had delays and problems with major road closures and wanted to communicate these as we may not have made it. Staff were helpful once in contact..
C.
I love their Buffet dinner one of my most fave restruants.. A but expensive but worth it if you love fresh seafood OYSTERS though small are always fresh and yummy. Great food Great service.
m.
Clean tidy rooms with a nice outlook. Great swimming options available. Convenient Central location and very close to Eat Street. Friendly staff and good breakfast selection.
V.
Centrally located a great hotel with amazing facilities like Geothermal Pool inside the hotel.
No need to spend money outside on hot pools. This hotel has a very good pool for in house guests.
D.
Loved their breakfast smorgasbord.. nice serene place..lake across the park..the park brilliant to take boisterous kids after breakie fuel up..struth!
R.
We loved our staying espercially the breakfast kids was eating free really nice 💕
L.
Good rooms, great spa with mineral water pools, sauna, and a decently equipped gym. Breakfast has a wide range of items, including kanji and curry.
G.
A really nice place to stay very comfortable twice i have stayed now and have had good rooms both times
R.
Not a place to stay during school holidays.
Kids in the lobby, in the pools, in the bar, at the bar and running up and down the length of the restaurant.
Underprovisioned and understaffed, I feel for the crew who had to deal with the post-easter headaches.
M.
Great value for money and very comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet is truly international and you can even make your own raw juice!
J.
The Novotel in Rotorua is in an excellent location with easy parking. The facilities are excellent & good value for money. The staff are friendly & welcoming-can do people. Overall our stay for 3 nights was excellent
E.
We could not ask for more; Warm and very comfortable and friendly atmosphere all around, from Reception, Housekeeping, staff at the Restaurant. You have made our Time in Rotorua memorable.
R.
My stay with you was an emergency booking made because my flight with Air New Zealand was cancelled and I needed overnight accomodation.
I was very impressed with the hotel.. It was the first time I have stayed at a Novotel hotel although I have been at Ibis Hotels in many countries
C.
It was good but shower went cold on us twice.
L.
Enjoyed our stay, close to everything in town and lots of amenities. Not so impressed with how my sister & her husbands money that they accidentally left in their room safe was handled.
J.
Good place to have breakfast. Get in fairly early. Many choices. Parking was easy. I did not stay but went there for a group breakfast.
j.
Good hotel, good location. Not very gluten friendly. Too many fuctions meaning hotel guests may not get into restaurant.
M.
Nice enough place for an overnight visit to Rotorua and across the road from 'Eat Street'. All the other noteworthy places in Rotorua within easy distances. Rooms up to the same standards as most other big chain hotels.
D.
Nice Place to Stay. Food not so good.Staff Excellent,Friendly and Helpful.
S.
Bed was great, room service was really quick - my fish burger was bit average for the price but otherwise good - all facilities were lovely and I am definitely coming back
L.
Great place to stay, as if weather not good outside, restaurant is on site, which has variety of meals. Accommodation great. Staff very helpful and friendly.
K.
Nice, clean hotel with good facilities. Very central to town and restaurants right on the doorstep. The lake is only a short stroll in the other direction.
J.
Went for dinner. Our group was packed in like sardines and there were plenty of empty tables to make room. Made for an uncomfortable dining experience.
J.
we had dinner there at their buffet, the best salmon that I've had in my life. 11/10 for their buffet, I had to go and have a siesta nap after that, ate to much.
T.
Friendly staff. Nice entry hall. Rooms are ok, but bathroom quite old and stained. I liked the gym and the pools with thermal water.
M.
It was just an overnight stay in the hotel but the room and bed was really good - loved the set up of the whole hotel. Really nice and polite staff, would recommend and stay again.
R.
Just finished another wonderful breakfast at the Novotel with my family, the staff were friendly and their service is awesome, we will definitely be returning to the Novotel again.
j.
High quality service, friendly staff, very quiet room, double glaze gass, comfy bed, on site parking, awesome on site under cover spa pools and sauna inside the Hotel are free to use 24/7 !!!!, Excellent restaurant and food, great breakfast with wide selection offered, awesome Bar with lay back setting, is open 24/7... Great stop over Hotel between Wellington and Auckland and check out Rotorua too... Has well equipped Gym which is free to use also 24/7... if you want that extra touch, this is place to stop, yes 20~40 bucks more gets you so more than a Roadside Motel...
B.
Great place to catch up with friends over a great choice of food at the buffet. Professional and efficient friendly staff. Really great value.
K.
Bed is comfy, room is clean. I had a problem with the sulfur in the air here. The Sulfur content in Rotorua is hit or miss, but it hurt me here. Also the hot tub is all natural so it isn't too warm and smells of sulfur.
E.
We went to the buffet dinner. Was less than impressed with the food and the service. We won't be back again. Dessert was great a part from the broken ice cream container.
c.
It's a great place to stay. Unfortunately no lake view, better luck to us next time. DHEERAJ the DM is quite hands on.
N.
I really enjoyed 3 nights 4 days staying with you because of wonderful spa, comfortable bed and great location by the lake. I would like to come back again as soon as possible.
Many thanks
A.
The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable but we had issues with connecting to the internet. Once it was up and running, it worked fine.
S.
Buffet was definitely worth the price.. the 2 adults who attended and 4kids loved it
G.
Spacious rooms - superb view of lake, good breakfast. Housekeeping needs improvement. Beds also too soft.
S.
Nice stay. Great warm pool to relax in after your day in the tree n treetops.
E.
Nice getaway for a few days.. If you want a view make sure you ask for lake side or you will get a carpark view.. Bed was comfy as.. Restaurant was nice and spacious, buffet dinner was great.. Buffet breakfast was also awesome.. Pool, spa and gym available onsite.. WiFi not free.. Close to everything.. Staff were very welcoming.. We will be taking the kids next time..
J.
The toilet in the room needs major improvement. There are mould on the ceiling and tiles and stain on toilet bowls. In fact the public toilet in the hotel lobby is cleaner than the room toilets. Pics attached showing the conditions of the toilet.
0.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are in need of a makeover and our phone was broken. I did notify reception but nothing was done to fix it during our stay.
R.
Wow..amazing..room with a view of the lake..beautiful pool and spa..the staff were amazing ..and so close to everything. 10 out of 10
A.
It's a great place to stay while in Rotorua. It's very close a street that has a boatload of restaurants, bars, and early morning coffee. The staff is knowledgeable and kind.
R.
Great place to stay and surprised us by being one of the cheaper places for our family! Great mineral pools, gym and sauna, central location, tidy, clean, friendly, great kids area, etc
S.
Fantastic - right from the atmosphere, the exceptional service, the rooms, the gifts for kids. We felt respected and welcome and will be returning again soon.
L.
Really great hotel, great staff, lovely rooms, only two issue I have is that bathrooms have been updated but not the shower and the rooms do not have network ports only WiFi
T.
Great staff. Clean room and bathroom. Superb breakfast. Amazing egg chef. Loved every minute of our stay.
S.
Great hotel with the best location for visiting Rotorua, i.e. 1 minutes walk to main shopping street and right next to the lake.
K.
It was really great, clean and tidy room, and the bed was extremely comfortable, had the best sleep! Wonderful helpful staff too.
L.
Great geothermal hot pools and gym facility. Plenty of parking spots. Friendly staff. The bathroom is a bit dated though.
G.
Loved the night there. Loved the buffet dinner and breakfast. Delicious food.
A.
Always enjoy, given nice lake front view, with bottle of wine to top it off.my only grouch is regards to drink voucher for first drinks at half price, which was"nt given when presented.
J.
Okay. Restaurant/bar service wasn't great as both places were understaffed, and I felt breakfast should have been included given the price we paid. Very disappointed about the bond policy on check in.
O.
Staff were great, meals at the inhouse bar/restaurant were good quality. Fantastic location and price to match.
F.
Very lovely place to be, everything is just working distance, food, shopping, supermarket, gas station, sea side, walk and talk, you name it all around you
J.
Great location- great food at the buffet & hotel in excellent condition. A very enjoyable stay!!
J.
Good buffet. Fresh oysters, scallops, prawns, smoked salmon and many more. Would recommend the restaurant. We did not stay there.
A.
OMG great service, everything and everyone was so helpful and lovely. Food was amazing, highly recommend most definitely going back 😎😎
K.
Spacious room nice bathroom clean and tidy. I can't believe they don't provide water, toothpaste or toothbrush. The only hotel that doesn't provide water, ridiculous.
M.
Rooms are very nice and the room service is Very good nice gym amd swimming pool and the jaquzes aur wonderful....but a little disappointment towards the breakfast...otherwise it is a wonderful hotel😊😊
K.
I arrived on Wed 5th at 2:30 , 3 o'clock pm , there was only one young person on the check in talking to another older worker .
I waited for maybe 1to 2 min and I was standing in front of them so they both did see me , as the older worker said you better serve these people .
There was a person on the 3rd counter filling out forms
There was a younger man waiting on the middle next counter but 2/3 steps back
The young female worker then walked over to the middle counter were the young man was and served him .
I was surprised and angry that as I was standing in front of the young lady ? I would off thought she would off served me first , being an elderly gentlemen ?
It took the young female employee 5 mins to serve the young man then to add insult she served another person a lady with a young daughter who came in after me ?
This made me mad .
It took the employee another 5 mins to finish serving this lady and then she finally looked over to me and served me .
I was angry and there were other people waiting to be served as another party off people had arrived .
Please educate your young staff to show respect and prompt attention to older people
As well as there should off been more staff on ! And this complaint would not of come about .
I know you have security cameras operating so you can check to see what happened .
P.
very nice place to stay and yummy brecfast friendly staff to and relaxing spas were a nice touch also bed was very comfy
K.
Disappointing , the breakfast especially which is usually to die for was under staffed meal plates piled up and not taken away, tables not cleared, food very slow in being replenished and one chef finding it hard to keep up with orders and when ordered soneone else took your order because they got sick of waiting for their own .
Dinner the food very well displayed , but again staff let down plates not taken and we never got a chance to order any more alchol drinks a bit disappointing for a special weekend away with our friends.

Bit pricey compared to other motels but you get what you paid for. Very clean and tidy. Walking distance for any major attractions. Good choice for me 😀

Allocated wrong room. Was a twin double when had booked King. Staff then had to 'find' an available room. Ended up being next to lift dispite original booking asking to be away from lift. Room key card was programmed incorrectly and didn't work on return during the second day.

Fantastic staff. Went over and beyond to help us. Clean tidy room. We had a great stay.

Stayed the night here with the children on a family holiday to New Zealand. It was a last minute booking but found the hotel to be in a great location and very pleasant.

Quite a decent place to stay that is reasonably priced and close to all the attractions in Rotarua. I appreciate that it is clean and affordable.

Other than double booking same room to another and giving the key just after 30 minutes of us checking all went well. The Manager was kind enough to make up for the mistake made.

Nice place, but the staff at reception were a bit cold...didn't seem to want to help us. Maybe they were having a bad day?
