I only stayed here for a few days, but I really enjoyed it! The location is perfect – everything is within walking distance – and the facilities are nice and clean. Staff are chill and friendly. Only minor complaint might be the possibly thin walls which made sleeping difficult (the person in the room next to mine snored a lot!), but some earplugs solved the issue. Thank you so much for the overall pleasant experience!

I stayed here over the recent lockdown and was so relieved to find somewhere after just arriving in the city! The location is awesome, in the middle of the city, but also near Albert Park for an afternoon stroll. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the facilities are great. Would definitely recommend staying here when travel is allowed again!

The staff were friendly and helpful and were able to provide me a good accommodation in a pinch at very short notice (within the hour!) The eatery recommendations were also very handy, and I was very grateful for my stay. It would have been nice a have a space heater provided in the room upon arrival, but I suppose I should have thought to ask for one at reception while it was still open. Still, excellent backpacker/s.

Stayed a couple of times at the Attic Backpackers. Definitely recommend staying here. I only have good things to say about this place : It's one of the cleanest Backpackers I've seen during my stay in New Zealand. There are cosy little living rooms if you need to relax and the kitchen is always immaculately clean. It was the first time in many months I've actually felt comfortable using a Backpackers kitchen and not having to check everytime if the utensils/cutlery/plates/everything were clean enough to use. The dorms are cosy as well. The staff is very friendly. If you have any issues they will deal with it efficiently. The location is also very good. For those travelling by bus it's only a five minutes walk from the bus stop to the hostel. You have bars and restaurants all around all around yet the noise of the streets at nightime isn't too disturbing. I had a very pleasant stay here for my final days in New Zealand. Congratulations to the staff for doing an amazing job!

So glad I chose to stay at this hostel. Perfect location, clean rooms and awesome staff. Good vibe over the weekend too. Social spaces are far from bedrooms so you can still get a decent sleep!!! Highly reccommend this place :)

Great location, central to everything. Currently surrounded by roadworks and construction sites but so was almost everywhere else! Private single room was basic but tidy. Excellent facilities, very clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Atmosphere felt relaxed, secure and safe. Good vibes. Decent value for money. Perfect for my short term stay. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed here for a few weeks. All the staff are welcoming and helpful. Shared spaces were cleaned regularly and the beds were clean. No issues with WiFi or hot water. All in all great value for money.

A Quaint and Quiet Place to Stay 💜 Upon the prompt closure of Base Backpackers, I had to find a new place to reside temporarily for business purposes. The team at Attic were super friendly, welcoming and inviting which was great after a very unpleasant experience at Surf n Snow Backpackers (a place with awful customer service and low quality facilities). Attic Backpackers honoured the prices for customers who came to them from Base, which meant I got a very generous and unexpected discount. Much appreciated. The check-in process was easy. The premises were tidy. I was given a tour of the establishment on arrival and enjoyed my very short stay. The bunk beds were very easy to get into and they felt solid and sturdy. Attic has a higher price point than other backpackers nearby, but it is worth it. Attic is quite a small backpackers. The rooms require manual keys rather than keycards. Other people staying there were friendly. Overall, the experience was enjoyable. 10/10

Good for partying and for sleeping, but not clean. Pros : location is perfect, quiet at night, well designed, separate bathrooms for boys and girls lots of room for cooking and storing food Cons : doors don't lock automatically and need to pay extra for lockers, nothing is horribly dirty, but nothing is clean, showers haven been cleaned in weeks, mattresses are super dusty... no one seems to be hired to clean the place at all. there is a constant vrombing machine kind of noise on the balcony, which kind of kills the fun of hanging out outside.

Fantastic location, wonderful staff who are available at all times if necessary and resolve any issues quickly. It's clean, and there are several community spaces so you can usually find a spot away from people, talk to other friendly faces around, or watch tv!

This was an okay hostel. It was clean, I did have a bit higher expectations from all the other good reviews. The rooms were super hot, there were stand up fans but not every bed has one. The staff was on and off friendly. Seems like they get tired of people sometimes. The kitchen had birds flying in and out stealing food. But every guest I met staying there was supper nice. Made some great friends! The hostel is central to the city.

Cute clean and super cute! Lots of beautiful artwork and well designed space. The rooms are very spacious and beds comfy. Colourful, organized and lovely kitchen area. I honestly wish we were staying at this hostel longer. Worth the few extra dollara it costs compared to others in the area. The patio is great, it is covered and has a cool atmosphere with a view of the city scape. Friendly staff. Maria helped us bring our bags up since the elevator was not ready and was very welcoming to us even though we showed up tired and late.

The place is in an amazing location, the staff are all really nice and there are plenty of facilities (TV, guitars, piano, laundry etc) but everything could do with a proper clean. Every surface is sticky, the coaches are dirty, the beds had hairs on them when we checked in which isnt great. If you can get over the cleanliness then this place is pretty good. They also have lots of events that you can go to and get drunk. It was half gap year party people and half long stay workers. Basically there are always people in bed with the lights off :p

One of the best Hostels in Auckland. Friendly staff, not many people, Big& clean rooms & bathrooms! Only negative thing outside was some livemusic that with closed Windows was still really loud. Maybe just badluck that night.

My favourite thing about this place was how clean it was and how it had everything you could need. There were great facilities with tonnes of stuff (like the kitchen which had huge fridges and every kind of cooking utensil you could need). It was a great location in the city yet feels very private and safe by being an the 4th floor. Only problem is that sometimes it was hard to find a space alone to keep to yourself. The stuff were super helpful as they were always around (8am - 11pm) and very nice. I also liked how far away the social areas were from the bedrooms so that you weren’t kept up by chatter.

Probobly my favorite backpackers in Auckland. Reall friendly guests and staff. And clean facilities. The rooms are doorm style however they too are clean. The room cleaning processes is not even annoying. Its choice. Not to pretentious not too crazy. That being said it really isn't a party hostel. Whitch can be good. If you are looking for a party house go elsewhere. It is located in a convenient part of Auckland cbd. Unfortunately there is a bit of construction noise outside that can be heard. But that will eventually end.............I assume.

Amazing place! Clever layout allows for a vibrant chatty terrace and kitchen as well as a very calm, quiet and cozy "living room" area. Overall very clean and fresh, friendly staff. Location cannot be better. Very convenient transfer to airport by SKY bus, the stop is 2-3 meters (!) away. Receptionist tried to steal my deposit, shady af, so can't give a five star.

Really good hostel. Amazing staff. The kitchen is damn huge compared to the size of the hostel. The kitchen is always clean like the rest of the hostel. It is really fun to cook here. The rooms are tidy and the beds and the sheets are awesome. The wifi is really good and for free. Alcohol is allowed here. Isn't really cheap but worth the money.

A good hostel, in a great central location, with all the necessary facilities! It’s on the 5th floor of what seems like industrial building (should’ve guessed from the “attic” in the name) wouldn’t recommend taking the stairs! Beds were comfy but quite creaky if you moved. Not the most personal hostel I’ve been to but it is good for keeping to yourself. Nice and helpful staff. Hair straighteners in the bathroom were a nice touch.

Stayed here for a couple of weeks while settling into Auckland. Excellent location, close to countdown and right in the cbd. Kitchen facilities are great and plenty of space to cook and eat. Also good chill out room. Rooms can be noisy if you are a light sleeper on the traffic side but you are in the middle of the city, so bring earbuds or buy some from the front desk. All staff were friendly during the stay. Would stay here again,

Although I didn't explore Auckland much, the hostel appeared to be very centrally located. The room was big and roomy with ten beds. The kitchen seemed nice, but I didn't get a good look at because I went out to dinner and left early. The people there were friendly and helpful. The lift was out of service for replacement, and it's a haul up the stairs, but the staff will help with luggage. There are outlets in the room, but not in each bunk, and the bunks don't have individual lights either.

Excellent location. Great value. Self-serve laundry is available from 2pm-10pm. Friendly staff. Kitchen is well equipped. Shared facilities are kept clean by staff.

I stayed here twice once in a 12 bed and once in a 6. Both rooms were very spacious compared to most hostels in NZ. Considering the size of the 12 bed I still felt like a had a bit of privacy. The kitchen was on the small side, but had a large pantry and fridges. The whole hostel was very clean and the patio was also a nice area to relax in.

Central location, good wifi, clean, very friendly staff. The staff were also very knowledgeable about things to do around the city, even when it rains. You can store your luggage there even after checking out, which is great if you don't leave the city until later in the afternoon or night. On a less positive note, sounds carry well into the rooms from the corridor and outside (understandable, due to the lodge's central location). Earplugs are sold at reception. The most annoying thing, however, was that the kitchen didn't open until 7 am, which meant no morning coffee before then :/ Keep your food sealed tightly as sparrows fly around.

Clean fresh friendly, very helpful staff. Has a very chill atmosphere although smaller than some backpackers it is more planned out with space in dorms places to charge phones etc. Bonus free wifi. Will be back again

Good facilities, friendly staff and large communal areas with a good vibe. Had a few issues with the fire alarm from the hotel below and the rooms get quite hot at night - a set of industrial extractor fans make quite a bit of noise so you can't really keep the windows open late.

After the great reviews I was disappointed. The elevator was broken so we had to walk up to the 5th floor everytime. You only get 3 free hours of WiFi and would need to buy more if you ran out. The rooms were spacious but not a social feel, didn't have a good hang out area to meet others staying with you. The showers were small, dirty, and not very hot water. The location was good and they had free coffee and tea which was nice

Enjoyed my short stay here. Can't get much better for location, all the staff are wonderful and the facilities are kept clean. The WiFi is decent and plenty of storage space in fridges / shelves. The only negatives would be that the kitchen doesn't open until 7am in the morning, which isn't ideal for Barista's / Tradies who get up for work at like 6am and need to reach their breakfast. Additionally, the building is single glazed windows in the bedrooms which is fine (and appears to be an NZ standard) however there is an exhaust point for a HVAC system right outside the North facing dorms which can be rather noisy at times. At $40 a night, (4 bed dorm) I'd maybe like to suggest an upgrade to double glazing to assist with this. Oh and being at the top of 5 sets of stairs life will be much better once the lift construction is complete. (It's currently under construction). Thanks guys..

The bed was really comfortable. The room was spacious. The property was centrally located to shops and the cinema.

This has to be one of the best hostels in Auckland! One of the things I love about Attic is it suits all weather with the large covered outdoor deck and plenty of space to sit around and meet new friends. No wonder they keep winning awards. The staff go the extra mile and the rooms and bathrooms are clean.

Spacious, very nice bathroom. But the common room is dusty - had some allergic reaction to dust mite. The elevator is quite frightening as it's some old style one - i just used the stairs. However, if you have no allergies amd quite the spartan one, this place is value for money in high-priced auckland.

This accomodation is central, right next to queenstreet. The staff is nice and the kitchen modern and pretty big. There is also a chill room and a roofed outdoor area. They even have a hair-dryer and a straightener in the girls bathroom. It's very dark and cold in the rooms and corridors and a rather uncomfortable atmosphere. It also is pretty expensive but all in all it's okay.

Stayed one night in Auckland in a room. Where 14 people sharing and it was actually a place where anyone can stay and mostly it has designed like a self operative entity and their rules and regulations are clearly displayed in the entrance and they have a nice living area with bean bags where you can read your favorite books or browse internet.

Great location! Within one block of the SkyBus, which gets you to and from the airport. WiFi is solid, bathrooms are spacious and clean and well-lit. Lounge is basic but comfortable. There are two desktop computers that are free for anyone to use. Kind of sketchy/annoying to get in and out of: You have to go trough a freight-style elevator that gets little traffic and is under surveillance. Bath towel is free. 4% fee when you pay with a credit card.

It's a lovely place, very convenient to go anywhere in the city center. It's a clean and quiet place, good to stay with. Besides, the price is reasonable.

Best central hostel in Auckland. This is a great chilled place with helpful staff, bag storage pre and post stay along with use of the common areas after checkout. Only downside is you only get 3 hours free WiFi.

Nice place with great staff. But the rooms are way too hot during the night and only the bottom bunks have a fan on them. Also the top bunks have to power socket nearby to charge your phone en keep it close during the night.

Staff were tremendously helpful and friendly, bathrooms were clean and well maintained and rooms were clean and nice. The location is excellent, the free WiFi is a wonderful perk, and the hidden location made it feel easier to store all of my worldly possessions there.

All the usual stuff in hostel is good and on par. Let me highlight the bad part: If you want to sleep after a long backpacking day, then this is not the hostel. Room windows are single glazed, so lots of vehicle noise (bikers and trucks) from road. Upper bed in 4 bed room is super hot in summer season and fan can only serve the 3 lower beds. Why? They paying same rent. Maybe the room is designed for 3 beds only. Maybe European hostels have spoilt me but didn't expect hoscar to rate this hostel so high.

Great location. Good facilities. Bathrooms don't have constant hot water so most days shower goes cold after 5 mins. No heating in whole building in winter and only 3 hrs of free WiFi, even if you stay for a week.

I booked a single room and stayed for 2 days for business. The place is nice and clean. Seperated showers and bathrooms with dryers. Even it was a short stay, it was really nice with a good price.

This is the Best hostel I have been to in New Zealand! Compared to others this is the Ritz Carlton. It is clean, you have enough space and a open kitchen. Everyone is kind and ready to help.

I have stayed in a lot of hostels over various continents and this is up there with 1 of the nicest. Big rooms include sofas which is a lovely little extra. A very spacious kitchen that has everything you would need to put together a decent meal. You have 3 or 4 hang out areas which include bean bags. It also contains a tv room which comes with Sky. The downsides are it can feel a little sterile. It's wouldn't have the atmosphere somewhere like Nomads or Base (that could be good or bad thing depending on your pov) and the kitchen closes from 11pm - 6am. I really don't see why they have to do that. They'll likely say they don't want drunk backpackers in the kitchen but in that case turn the gas off. I have stayed in many hostels with kitchens and never had a fire and there was a lot more drunk people than The Attic gets! It's a bit on the pricier side compared with Nomads, Frienz etc but it's very much a place that you get what you pay for. So if you looking for a nice comfortable hostel in Auckland this is the place to go.

All around great hostel experience, things were clean, didn't stink, staff were friendly, rates were cheap and the location is incredible. As a Christchurch resident, this will definitely be my go to hostel for all my trips to Auckland.

Ideal location and perfect for anyone wanting to get settled upon arrival to New Zealand. Michelle and Martin were very welcoming and offered help when needed. Would recommend to anyone new to NZ.

Sam, the receptionist, was very friendly and helped ensure a smooth check in. Base is a clean, fun and large complex with a rooftop bar and many activities throughout the week. A must in Auckland!

Had a great stay in a private room for 3 nights. Kitchen was large and clean. Staff were really helpful and fun.

Friendly staffs that would provide a lot of travel info. Right next to downtown with a lot of bars and restaurants. The shower room is bit tidy. It has 3% credit card charge.

Great place to stay, though there was a delay in the check-in time and I had to wait in the hostel's living area in a pretty sleep deprived state, however overall the stay was good amd the staff were very friendly

(Translated) Wi-Fi is not good, shower and toilet are great. The dryer is always equipped. However, I have pressed the button several times to use the iron, but I have never used it. All in all, the staff are friendly, but only somewhere, the cabarets, and I don't put important items in the room because the room room is so open and open. After the majority, the staff suddenly arrives without a fixed time to clean up. You can meet a lot of staff in my room a day. The room is still quiet with the sound of the fans running, and the smell of food is full, I am full of smells of food even though I have not eaten it in the room. To get here from the outside, take the elevator to the 4th floor and press the button at the entrance. And ... I don't know if this is correct, but the person with room key shouldn't press the button, the staff didn't look very good. I only came in at 8 o'clock in the evening It's not easy to push a room key and push a door password. In fact, I don't know why the staff feels bad ... (Original) 와이파이가 잘안터진다, 샤워실과 화장실은 아주좋다 드라이기는 항상구비되어있다. 그러나 고데기사용을 위해 버튼을 여러번 눌러봤지만 사용하게된적은 단한번도 없다. 대체적으로 스텝은 친절하나, 대체적일뿐 어딜가나 캐바캐, 나는 방에 중요한물품을 두지 않는다 왜냐면 이곳의 방룸은 너무 개방적으로 잘열어놓는다. 다수가 나가고나면 직원들은 청소하기 위해 따로 정해진 시간없이 갑자기 들이닥친다. 하루에 다수의 직원을 나의 방에서 만날수있다. 이방은 계속 환풍기 돌아가는 소리에 조용할틈이 없으며 음식냄새가 방안가득이다, 나는 방에서 음식을 해먹지 않았음에도 음식 냄새가 가득하다 그것은 매우 불쾌하다. 외부에서 이곳을 오기위해서는 4층까지 앨리베이터를타고 입구의 버튼을 눌러야한다. 그리고..이것은 정확한지 모르겠지만 룸키가있는 사람은 버튼을 누르면 안되는가보다, 직원이 매우 기분이좋아보이진 않았다. 난 저녁8시에 들어왔을뿐이고 룸키를 꺼내어 문비밀번호를 누를바에는 버튼한번이 간편하지 않은가? 사실 그 직원이 왜 기분이 나쁠지는 잘모르겠다...사실 나도 잖언쓰해서 장문으로 쓰게됐다

Es ist zwar etwas teurer als andere aber dafür ist es sauber, gross und ruhig. Die temperatur ist wie in allen Hostels in Auckland, eher kühl, da Winter. Toll fand ich auch die verschiedenen Räume, da sich die Leute etwas aufteilen (Lesesraum, TV-Raum, Balkon, Küche und Empfang). Die Küche ist etwas vom besten was ich je in einem Hostel gesehen habe. Abzug nur für den Preis und die Waschenszeit (17:00 - 20:00)
