Loved my stay in thus establishment the staff were friendly and the restorative work they have done on the building and room was 👌 awesome.

The Convent Hotel is something pretty special! Nothing cookie-cutter about this gorgeous boutique hotel. No expense has been spared in the unique room fit-outs and the history of the building has been embraced beautifully. We stayed for a friend's wedding when they first opened and the service was exceptional - nothing was a problem, and the staff went out of their way to ensure we were all comfortable and enjoying our stay - they even greeted guests by our names the next morning! The hotel is incredibly competitively priced and all the little details don't go unnoticed. The Mother Superior Suite is particularly special.
We have sung our praises about this hotel to everyone, and can't wait to go back and stay now that Ada has opened downstairs.

Lovely rooms but wooden floors, so you hear every little noise from the next room. Not good if the occupants get up at 5.20am, and the main reason you are there is to catch up on sleep 😡

I almost don't want to write this review, as I want to keep it the cities best secret. I'm trying to figure out the catch... An exquisite stay, everything about this hotel is unique, authentic to their own style, and just incredibly beautiful, from the decor, the linen, the soaps and the wine glasses, no expense has been spared, but it's so affordable. Worth every minute, this place is just so divine. So excited to return, and enjoy this beautiful place again.

Such a lovely stay. Clean friendly staff and gorgeous decor. Before we came we were not sure what to expect as it was priced so reasonably, the photos don’t do the place justice. The continental breakfast was delicious in the morning too. We didn’t have lunch or dinner at the restaurant but will definitely be coming back to try.
Highly recommend

Had a lovely stay for a work trip- the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the room was lovely!

Genuinely gorgeous - having driven by this old convent on a near daily basis for several years, it's been so satisfying seeing this beautiful building get the renovation it deserves. The rooms are a really nice mix of original heritage character (decades of subsequent paint layers on certain walls are retained), and modern amenities (great beds, rainfall shower heads etc), staying here was a real pleasure. Loved the interior design and the subtle subversion of the religious theme in the artwork throughout the lobby/hallways. Really hard to fault - Auckland needs more places like this.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was quirky and eclectic, steeped in history as it was a former nunnery. You can hear the bells ring from the Catholic Church ⛪ next door. Big on sustainability and recycling. Bonus of restaurant 🍴 downstairs. I loved the vibe. I would go back again.

Absolutely incredible stay. The fitout of the building is simply amazing (as is the art). We stayed in the Chapel Room which was beautiful. Great service by the staff as well. Oh and we dined at Ada which we hands down recommend.

Six stars! Such a great stay at the Convent Hotel. Beautiful tranquil room, well chosen furnishings and felt modestly luxurious. Unique and timeless. The bed had just the right firmness, there was ample space for luggage, and hot drink making available. The bathroom was the star with generous overhead shower, copper fittings and deep white towels. The Convent Hotel has been redecorated beautifully with eclectic fun displays nodding to its history. It's in the heart of Grey Lynn shops, just minutes away from the excellent Postal Service. We welcomed the ecofriendly approaches with room freshening, toiletries dispensers and iPad instead of TV so our room wasn't dominated by a screen. We will return!

A truly unique stay. You can feel the heritage when walking down the halls. The most comfortable sleep I have had in a long time. The bathroom was the highlight. Loved the complimentary treats. Will be back for longer next time

Great location and stunning renovation but really disappointed about the fact that they don't make the bed or change the sheets until day 4 ( we are on a 3 day booking) Complementary snacks are not replenished daily . We only found this out after walking back to the room after a long day out and to see only the towels replaced. We'd be better off making 3 separate bookings. They penalize those staying more than one night rather than rewarding them . At no time during the booking process were we told of this so a word to those at the Hotel, please inform us of your policies personally rather than me having to troll your site to get the information. I get the sustainable aspect, but not even making the bed with the old linen is a cost cutting issue not a sustainability issue . To add to insult on day 3 the room wasn't even cleaned at all. Fortunately the duty manager gave us new towels, glasses , tea bags, milk and emptied the rubbish tin and gave us a voucher for 2 drinks 🍸 but that's a serious issue. Hopefully it is only a teething problem and gets resolved soon .

One of Grey Lynn's heritage buildings has been lovingly restored, and converted in to a boutique hotel. I stayed a couple of nights during the opening week, as the final touches were still being carried out. The restaurant and bar aren't open yet, but the rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, and the staff are warm and friendly.

Very nice spot to stay so close to the city, building oozes old charm and character. Rooms are well appointed and the balcony is nice to sit with a cold beverage in hand.

*Forgive my terrible photoshotting skills.
The design is so so so cool! And the price is affordable.
Compared to other hotels nearby, Convent Hotel has the most excellent and friendly services.
I did have a great time here, thanks for their high professional hospitality.
I came to ALL for a qualification exam, and I passed. Thanks a lot that the lady at reception help me book a taxi in advance, that I did not late for the exam (lost myself in Akl).
Will visit akl in June again, definitely stay here.

We loved the hotel itself with compact but functional standard rooms, a very alternative feel, some nice touches & interesting art pieces that are true to the Convent's heritage.
The Ada restaurant is a definite must-do, when you stay as the Italian sharing menu is seriously good.
Our only complaint was the cold & noisy air conditioning that is centrally controlled, with no individual remote in our ground floor room. We expected it to be turned off or at least reduced through the night but it kept us both awake, much of the time. We eventually learned to quiet it down by placing the wooden drinks tray over the grate!
That said, we'd definitely go back again, for the hotel ambience & atrium restaurant.
