Some lovely options including eggs on toast, Bircher, eggs Benedict, French toast etc
Clean room and a large room as well …
D.
Stayed there for a night on 8/11/21. They made things very easy from start to finish and every staff member I came across legitimately seemed happy to be there. We ordered different meals and were happy with the prices and quality of the food. We had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay again.
R.
If you are in Devonport don’t forget to visit this absolute Beauty .

Thinking of any function don’t hesitate to book because these guys makes a memorable experience and provide unforgettable Hospitality.
Affordable price and great atmosphere next to the Beach .

A.
Love coming down to Devonport and seeing the lovely historical buildings. A real seaside town with a holiday flavour. Had lunch with Mum at The Esplanade Hotel, it was good food, relaxed environment and friendly staff. It had a kind of retro vibe and would have been very grand in it's time!
C.
Had a lovely meal here with my family through First Table. The wait staff were attentive but not overbearing, and the live music was fantastic! The food was well presented, and the taste was fine (3/5). Would highly recommend using first table deal to eat here.
M.
Great location in Devonport, I can't recommend dinning here unfortunately, that's all I'll say...
R.
Awesome old building with lots of character. Warm and comfortable and so close to shops and ferry. Friendly staff and the eggs bene were some of the best we've had!
J.
what a place! the chef very kindly cooked a steak for me 30 mins before the lunch menu started. I would have ordered a pint of the peppercorn sauce if I didn't have a beer already it was that delicious.
K.
We four thought it was a bit pricey but enjoyed the food and ambience
S.
This is old British style hotel. Everything is old style. The views from the hotel is awesome. Very convenient location. The hotel amenities are good. It is a warm stay. We got the free breakfast as well:)
C.
We enjoyed a very good lunch in the dining room. I had the salmon and vegetables and it was delicious, well prepared and lovely veggies. my partner had the snapper. Very tasty and fresh. Overall good service!
T.
Good antique ambience..pizza was good.
Could have been better with setup for parties
S.
Lovely view of the sea from 2nd floor rooms. Close to promenade for seaside walks. New World just around the corner. Eat in complimentary breakfast with my on-line deal: tried the granola/fruit and the eggs benedict - both really good. Had the beef slider and fries from bar menu for lunch saying I'd come down and get it, but delivered to my room at no extra charge, service with a smile. Only problem was ants around the tea making area, when any used plates or cups left there, couldn't leave any good items that weren't tightly sealed. I enjoyed the exercise of walking up the stairs to my 2nd floor room, but there is also an elevator. Found the staff friendly and accommodating.
S.
Not my first time here but thank you to the manager who looked after my stay. It made my reason for staying not so sad how you went out of your way. Much appreciated. Love the character of this hotel. Will be back again!
J.
The staff are very nice and friendly. Food selection was awesome and price is good. We celebrated my daughters 7th birthday there and she loved it. We will be back there for sure.
M.
If you want a relaxing home away from home while doing house renovations I can’t recommend a better place than The Esplanade Hotel. It A’s a wonderfully friendly and kind staff and a warm comfortable Apartment with its own cheery fire.
The breakfast was very generous with some of the best omelettes I’ve tasted.
T.
Classic and elegant. We had our wedding reception here and first wedding night. It was a great experience and their events team are very helpful. Food was absolutely delicious, all our guests commented on it. Good option with the bar being right outside the main hall room.
K.
Excellent location. Room spacious. A little bit dated but overall a very nice place to stay. Only criticism is room fridge makes a constant high humming noise - just need to figure out how to turn off!
T.
Nice place to stay. Handy to most things. We had the smaller room, a bit tight. I'm guessing historic status limits changes so a bit impractical in design but a nice friendly old feel to it.
K.
Beautiful attention to detail. Loved the ambience and staff were so pleasant. Live jazz and fireplace in bar. Convenient by ferry to islands and Auckland and such a lovely view. We would definitely recommend this accommodation. So much nicer than the generic homogenized options
K.
The eggs bene was delicious and the coffee was perfect
K.
A lovely place to take the parents for lunch.
R.
Good food, good service👍
K.

K.
A fantastic stay! The rooms were lovely and comfortable, and the restaurant was fantastic. Seriously recommend the seafood platter! The breakfast was really yummy too. Friendly helpful staff who treated us like VIPs throughout our whole stay.
J.
We came here for high tea to celebrate a friend's birthday. You have to book in advance as the food is prepared for the booking. It meant we could have a dairy free option. Great service and a great location. Thanks
L.
Came here for afternoon tea with my family. It was quiet and a pleasant place. The tea and stones was good. The service staff here were very friendly and amicable. Nice decor too.
b.
Went in here for pre-dinner drinks on a Tuesday evening, as there was a couple of guys playing some music. Fire was crackling away, really nice atmosphere on a cool night. Lovely chats to locals and others doing the same thing as us.....
C.
We love old buildings. This is an old building done up reasonable well on the inside. It could be better but given how much we are paying & the room location we feel that it's rather good value. Breakfast nice too.
We'll be back... :)
D.
Main lunch was awesome but they need to work on there garlic bread, very average
H.
Delicious canapes and drinks. We were in a function room for a private function which could have done with a bit more cooling as it was quite warm. Otherwise a great venue with friendly staff and only a short walk to the ferry to town or Waiheke.
S.
One of my most favourite places to stay. The village feel but you can go over to Auckland on the ferry if you want to. The hotel has beautiful views up and down the Waitemata harbour and the food is wonderful. Love it.
n.
Staff were so friendly. Owner awesome local knowledge. Dinner was well priced and presented nicely and tasted fantastic. Beautiful decor and period design.
J.
Very nice café we enjoyed very much the high tea,the view the building and the location, it does feel like some where in Spain in Europe, bar selection is great, coffee is strong in a good day, it was family occasion, high tea set, 2 Scones and a coffee only $10 is good value. Will definitely come back for drinks.
T.
A very traditional 'olde hotel' in a prime location.
I had room 103.Its own large lounge a large bedroom and large modern bathroom. All looking over the Devonport wharf.
Very close to bars and restaurants although you may not want to leave the hotel bars and restaurants.
The rooms a little noisy at night but a small price to pay for this outstanding property.
A most enjoyable stay.
A.
Enjoyed our stay at the Esplanade, and outstanding costumer service by the lovely ladies at reception, highly recommend 10/10 😊
P.
Great old pub. this old building is now a better cafe, rather than a pub, although, it still has a bar.
The old photos and pictures are great, as are the views.
Service is good and meals are well presented.
A.
Just across the devon port ferry terminal is this old world building housing a hotel and restaurant. We went there for a glass of wine. The staff were friendly. The restaurant has a bar a fine dine area as well as outside seating. We chose to sit outside right next to the ornamental fire stands which gave out decent heat. the cheese platter was nice and went well with the french pinot noir.
T.
Ferry to Devonport and had Christmas Lunch in this Historic Esplanade Hotel. Beautiful surroundings and friendly staff. The food took long time to serve but it was wonderful and fresh.
E.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Esplanade. I came to Auckland for business and was originally worried about the distance from CBD. However, the ferry terminal is across the street from the Esplanade and ferries run very frequently. The town of Devonport is small and has variety of boutique shops and restaurants with walking paths which have nice views of central Auckland. Check in was easy with reception greeted me by name as soon as I walked up (apparently I was the last guest of the evening). My room was spacious, clean, and well lit with a balcony that faced the harbour. A generous breakfast was included in the rate. The breakfast/restaurant area has a fire place which I personally enjoyed. The one drawback was that logging onto the internet required the frequent reentry of a pin every time a device started up.
H.
We had a private function room booked for the night, but they closed the kitchen early so we were a little disappointed as we wanted more food. Menu items are pretty good, recommend trying the ribs!
M.
It was a wonderful and charming location. We dropped in for a coffee and croissants and they were really nice. The awesome location also means that there is a great view from every window.
P.
My favorite hotel if I need to be in Auckland. The ferry to the Auckland center is near by. The rooms are authentic and quite large. Nice historic building. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
W.
Lovely old fashioned hotel. Good for casual drink or quiz night
J.
Elegant and classy hotel with many characters. Well managed and attended, neat and clean. The nice and friendly staffs added to the welcoming atmosphere.
l.
They have great sat/sun music in summer. Atmosphere there isn't any.
Attention to detail has slipped since 2012, yesterdays cigarette butts on pavement, messy outside setting.
J.
Nice place for late lunch.
K.
Ants in the bathroom, difficulty checking in, damp walls in the halls and damaged furniture. But the room size was good and the linen was quality.
T.
Historical building in the center of Devonport. Just opposite to the ferry terminal to Auckland. Free breakfast is delicious. No air con, maybe annoyed by flying-in insects and street traffic noise when opening windows. Not suitable for sound-sensitive people during sleep.
F.
Food, service, atmosphere .. everything was perfect, definitely recommend
T.

P.

S.
Went in for a quick drink after dinner. I am 28 years old and wearing a work jacket but got asked for identification. I guess I can take that as a compliment?
A.
Haven't stayed at the hotel, but had few drinks in their bar. Really nice view on the Auckland City especially during sunset.
P.
Should take fur out of mussels and cook less. But service excellent
R.
Great location however, it is quite rundown and in need of a good clean and paint. The saving grace is the attitude of the staff.
K.
The eggs bene was delicious and the coffee was perfect
S.
Amazing accommodation, the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We will definitely return for another stay
N.
