D.Stayed two night.Its very clean place. Enjoyed my stay there.
R.The recetionist was very helpful and gave me a room to myself because I wanted a bottom bunk.
k.They were really welcoming and the bathrooms were decent quality. Continental breakfast was lackluster and didn't provide for my vegan friend. The location was great, right across the road from a liquor store. A creepy drugged up guy came in and was making inappropriate comments towards our girls and the staff gave him a talking to and asked him to stay away from us but didn't kick him out which was disappointing.
m.Industrial ambience. Terrible ground floor lounge. With bean bags and stools. No couches or chairs, harsh overhead lighting Not a nice place loiter. Second tv come dining room on second floor. Rooms are basic but clean. Facilities are adequate and also clean. Location is good, just off K Rd. Security guard on site.
If you require budget accommodation (and it is very cheap for Auckland) this is okay. Plus some interesting characters to chat to.

L.Situated further from bars and restaurants means nights are quieter. The ground floor has a spacious area for socializing. Internet is free for the time being. Only problem was the small kitchens (only fits 2 people per kitchen)
D.Very good value. Clean, friendly. No access to hot water for tea after 10 pm. Shower is slippery and no place to put your clothes in the stall. Everything gets wet. They need a safety bar and a few more hooks. Well maintained property.

K.The Auckland city YMCA, sits proudly against the upper reaches of Pitt St, just down from the riotous carnality and variety that is Karangahape (K) Rd.
There are a number of options in terms of room arrangements, though all effectively conform to the notion of a hostel - shared facilities, minimal accoutrements, affordable. I chose the most expensive, a single room, still a reasonable tariff I thought. Check in is at 2pm - one can leave luggage in a store room whilst waiting - and check out is at 10am. The staff are professional and approachable, though have that slightly clipped manner of those who must deal daily with hordes of opportunistic travelers. There is WiFi.
My room; small, a single bunk, clean sheets, a rather aged looking quilt and a flattish pillow (which incidentally I prefer), sported a small desk and chair, a bar fridge (empty), and a wardrobe. Everything was utilitarian in the minimalist extreme. The building seemed to face North and South, my room on the north side of the building had warmed in the South Hemisphere sun to a baking redolence, there was a window for air conditioning, which when open to it's fullest was woefully inadequate for the late summer heat that had saturated the frieze block building (in contrast those rooms on the south face of the building seemed perpetually cool). My first evening there, a Saturday night, I lay atop my bed, window open, perspiring and wondering, as in the garden/BBQ area below me, the revels of my more exuberant co-residents continued until well after the witching hour, punctuated firstly by an assortment of sirens from the array of emergency vehicles that hastened past on one mission or another, and secondly by the local clutch of petrol-heads throttling their engines up the Pitt St rise in a lather of benzene assisted overcompensation. As an acoustic study in the mating rituals of antipodean hominids all it lacked was the unctuous voice of David Attenborough intoning those aspects of particular note. Sleep came but fitfully.
The following morning I used the excellent gym, though was dismayed to learn that my tariff only covered one day, after which I would need to pay $10 a visit, still reasonable, but does seem to penalize those who stay longer.
The facilities down the corridor from my room comprised a kitchen; well appointed with bilingual hortatory comments; use environmentally friendly detergent, don't block the drains, turn out the lights when you leave, that sort of thing. The shower block, tiled with a declivity in the middle of the room and no drain in floor (aside from those in the showers themselves), seemed cleverly designed to convert the main section of the room into a lake where one could paddle while brushing teeth and drying hair. The toilet block was again Spartan but clean.
All in all come for the anthropological experience but perhaps keep your stay brief.
p.Good Hostel and friendly staff. Let down a bit by the old building, rooms were nice and the place is well kept but the toilets are on different floors! There is $15 parking between 5PM and 7AM which is good for the city centre but it does mean getting up at 6:45AM to move the car and pay for parking elsewhere. Definitely use a lime scooter to get here!
Edit: You also get free earplugs and 1 free use of the gym downstairs!!
A.Room was comfortable and clean. Good shower and toilet facilities. The women's basins are actually big enough to out your toothbrush, make up etc on them and they have hairdryers and straighteners too. Walking distance to the CBD and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again

A.Very good place for a non-star standard. Bathrooms and some rooms cleaned every day. Change of bed linen once a week. Can purchase breakfast, hire a towel or play in the commom room. Kitchens open only until 23:00. A good mix of people on the whole spectrum of age.
B.Nice and clean rooms and bathrooms but definitely need to bring some good ear plugs. Sound seems to carry through the walls and I found it very noisy (and not from other guests but noises such as hand dryer in room next door)
M.I don't recommend this hostel for long periods of stay. Depends on the day, the two kitchens are very dirty and some guests don't wash their own dishes. The dryer machine doesn't dry enough clothes and I have complained twice. Within 3 weeks, 4 times has not been emptied the trash and vacuuming my room. In general I can say that the hotel is clean.
M.I lived there for almost 4 years as a long term tennant. Because of renovations i had to move 2 times. I really enjoyed my time there. The reception staff was always friendly and helpful and i still like to pop by for a chat. The facilities were always clean.
C.This is a tidy and clean hostel. Super recommended! They have fre bbq once a week and "all you can eat breakfast" for $8. The staff is friendly and organised. Good for a long stay.
s.I wouldn't personally stop here again for my working holiday needs. No where to store your food apart from the smallest fridge in the world in your room. There are two kitchens which are microscopic... It's like a Turkish suana in there when more than one person is cooking in there. Positive notes. Staff were great and generally clean. Good if you are just passing through Auckland. I'm probably just in a bad mood typing this haha
s.Pleasant staff, nice and clean. wierd rule about no TV, s, and no friends over, rooms kinda small as well
G.Very clean dorms and facilities. Location isn't bad: not far from downtown but conveniently the opposite direction will take you towards parks and the museum. All floors have showers and toilets, and two of the four floors have laundry rooms and kitchens. Laundry tokens are pretty pricey: $4 each for washer and dryer although drying racks are available at reception for free if you'd rather dry clothes in your room (not a great option for the dorms though). Wi-Fi is a little pricey at I think $4 a day, but it's very fast and reliable and you can pay for a week for $20. There are also lockers under each bed which you can secure with your own padlock. Continental breakfast (cereal, toast and slices of canned fruit) is $8 or $48 for a week, which isn't very cheap but you can eat as much as you want and it's available from 7am so I found that loading up on food at the hostel early let me survive through to dinner with just a snack around midday. The hostel has a few regular events like a free BBQ on Friday evenings which is another way to save some money, and I guess an opportunity to meet other travellers although to be honest I had more success making friends with the people in my dorm. Rooms get very warm in summer, and with windows open at night there was certainly some noise from Pitt St (dorms on the other side of the building are probably much quieter). On the whole, for the price you're not likely to find a nicer hostel in Auckland, and I felt safe during my week at the YMCA.
M.The place is clean, staff is friendly. I like that the refrigerators are the room instead of a communal refrigerator. The room I stayed in was a single, and quite spacious. The only complaint is the wifi- its $6 for one day or $20 for a week and it disconnects frequently.
F.Nice facility, but not flashy. Good range of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. Enough so that doesn't feel crowded. Very friendly and helpful staff.
T.It's clean, the beds are comfortable. You have to buy internet though, which is clever, because everyone might complain about that, but unless they have a good NZ mobile data phone plan, they will pay it. That's my only qualm. That being said, the staff are friendly and the place is clean, which is an improvement on where we stayed before.
H.Cheap accommodation. Very Spartan. I was concerned I'd not sleep well but no worse than usual.
T.Handy location but be prepared for the traffic noise. The 4-bed dorm with private bathroom is nice and clean, a small fridge in the room to keep your food. No free wifi or free breakfast as you often find in other hostels though.
C.Nice central location. Staff are always friendly and the people that stay here are almost always a good time. Facilities are functional and there is plenty of information available on what to do around Auckland for first timers
L.Well managed hostel. If you after a room of your own while not having to fork out for outrageous Auckland's accommodation, this is the one. It is further up the cbd however there are frequent city circuit buses running so it's no problem. It is clean and safe

L.I spent two nights at the YMCA hostel in Auckland. I just basically needed somewhere clean to lay my head at night, that wasn't going to break the bank and it was all of that. The staff were lovely, my bedroom was fine, it was clean and as a bonus there was even a small desk and a fridge. I would definitely go there again no problems!! Many thanks!!!
T.The one thing which saves the place is the staff. My room smelled really bad so they changed me and offered an internet voucher to compensate. Though rooms are small with plain and boring feel to them Kitchen is poorly equipped and dirty.
R.Stayed here in January, and this place was clean, airy, and a great place to stay for young backpackers. The music in the common space was a little annoying at times, but couldn't be heard from the rooms.

B.Good value for money. Came in just around midnight and was able to check in smoothly. Clean rooms and common spaces/amenities and good location. Note that breakfast is not included when bookig unless expressly stated. There's also a fitness center right beside it, convenience stores and cafes nearby. Bus stop, Queen St., Information Center and Skytower are less than 10-15 minutes away.
S.The room was pretty sparse, and the window was closed with duct tape but it was on the 5th floor so not a huge issue. It ws really cheap, clean and only 10-15min walk into town so can't really complain
R.I visited this Hostel as a Backpacker. +Everything is clean and gets cleaned a couple times daily +There is a fridge inside the room and two public kitches +There is a laundry +You can get a "prove of adress" easily +Pretty central located -No Free WiFi (6$ per day/20$ per week) -3 sockets in a 4 bed room -Few storage space for luggage Worth its price, would visit again.

C.ppl talk to each others and really enjoy the environments. Nice communal area and lounge. But room with high temperature when summer, too hot even they provide fan.
S.Okay hostel. I had my own room which was small but private. Kitchen is very small and not week equipped. Place is clean though and no complaints.

K.I book the one person room...not sharing with others because I travel alone.The room is clean and well mantained.With one fan and a fridge.Shower and toilet is sharing with others occupants.No need to bring Towel because it is already in the room.For soap and shampoo, you have to buy it at the counter for NZD 5.00.

P.Don't get me wrong it's clean and cheap (+ it has a nice placement in the center of Auckland)... But you basiclly don't get anything more than that. Everything (including wi-fi) is a paid option. We had a fire alarm go off in the middle of the night (and from what I've heard it wasn't the first time it happened). Bathrooms are... well they are there and that's all. Overall if you're aiming for a good vibe you're not gonna find it there, but if it's just a place to crash then you'll be alright.

D.Great night for the kickboxing, my only concern is why there is no St John's/first aid /first response /ambulance on standby? I understand there is a doctor there but when the fighters are needing to go to hospital, why is it left to family, friends to run back to there cars to take them? I thought any sporting event would have them on stand-by.
A.The accommodations are good, but the kitchen I thought are small, charging for WiFi is so bad I never thought that one place could do this.
And they need to advertise that the car parking is not for free also.
D.A hostel with a cheap hotel vibe. Long and sterile hallways. Kitchen small and poorly equipped (no big knives, no teaspoons, no basic spices, ..). Bedding is a duvet without a cover and literally just a couple of plain white sheets. Has everything one needs to survive and feel like a human being, but not much more than that. Bottom line - cheap in both good and bad sense of the word.
A.a lot of noise at night by people who do not respect the rest of others !! .. they shout they sing they chat at night very late (in the apartment exclusively for men)
T.For its prize it was good, for those cheap people like myself you get free wifi at McDonalds in town.
Other than that you have to pay for everything more or less

M.This has to be the best value in Auckland. Less than $20 a night for a bed. And I did have the room to myself. Communal facilities were good and clean. Lounge area on ground floor could really do with some couches and chairs instead of the hard park benches and 2 lone bean bags. Rooms were nice with opening windows and views, complete with lockers, heaters and a fridge. Though they can be noisy if close to the kitchen/TV lounge. Plus the beds are very firm. Great location walking distance to the Cbd, restaurants and bars. And good security with locked main doors accessible with proximity key. Male and female only floors and rooms a define bonus. Reception was OK, although the WiFi usage was not explained. It appears there is a charge for WiFi. And they take a record of your credit card details at check in. I will definitely stay again on my visits to Auckland.

One medium scale Kitchen and one dining room with two dining tables are available at 2nd Floor and 3rd Floor respectively.

T.There used too be a couple of small shops at the corner of building facing Pitt st but they are not there any more.The YMCA has been there for many yrs . If there are any vacancies you normally .can find accomadation there Central too Auckland and the public sevoces right outside their doorstep and easily accessible the YMCA is right on the main rode across from the fire station can't be missed.

Zimmer, Küche, Dusche und Toilette waren sehr sauber! Der Aufenthaltsraum hat mir auch gut gefallen, vor allem der Billard Tisch! Das Personal war freundlich. Einziger Nachteil ist, dass es kein kostenloses WLAN gibt.

Mehr eine Art Hotel, bei dem man viel extra kaufen soll. Die Küche ist viel zu klein und nicht auf jeder Etage verfügbar. WLAN ist zu teuer. Unfreundliches Personal. Es ist alles sehr sauber.
Allerdings laute Umgebung durch Feuerwehr und Krankenwagen.
