R.An unexpected surprise. Great coffee, friendly service, excellent burger, crisp tasty fries cooked in new oil and all for a very good bargain price. Typical pleasant seaside retro 70s decor and all nice and clean toilets too. A little winner in New Brighton

A.For all the backpackers that were there when we visited, was great. However, the place needs a good clean. Not, the people. We stayed on, because of the people. Loved it. You guys rock.
C.It has all the requirements of a temporary stay or semi - long term due to the lack of housing in the area. But when Covid is no longer a concern then all the overseas people will be back staying at Point Break. Prices are reasonable.

Q.I stayed here about 10 months ago and forgot to write a review. My stay was amazing, I loved the food from the cafe and the staff were really nice. If there was an issue, it would be fixed within the hour I would recommend to anyone
H.This is the cheapest single room I could find so the squeaky prison bed wasn't a surprise. The tourists next door sounded like they were smashing hammers on my wall. Fan was broken and TV didn't work if that was even a TV in there. Cheap, secure and kinda clean. What more could you want. Also there's no good internet ($10 for 1GB) so I wouldn't recommend staying here if you need more than 100mb.

J.Bought very inexpensive generously filled wholemeal sandwiches. i.e 2 halves. Enough for 2 lunchs for me . Friendly place.

Friendly stuff - sometimes weird people/guests who stay (might be people with special needs/alcoholics..etc. with long term stay) kitchen is more or less ok to use- depens on the guests!; Heater does not realy work and in winter its very cold in every room!!

One star less for the mattress which was very bad and a door that closed very hard (it's not good to have to kick in the door at 7am when you want to leave early;)) Otherwise home friendly and friendly atmosphere! Rather well placed, close to bars and the beach.

Une étoile en moins pour le matelas qui était très mauvais et une porte de chambre qui fermait très difficilement (c'est pas top de devoir mettre un coup de pied dans la porte à 7h du matin quand on veut partir tôt ;) ) Sinon accueil sympathique et ambiance convivial ! Plutôt bien placé, proche des bars et de la plage.
J.(Translated) This small hostel is about 20 minutes by car from the center. Looks a little rancid at first, but once you've left the hallway and entered the room, it's perfectly fine. The kitchen and dining room are also clear, but with some drawbacks. The hotplates take what feels like an eternity to get hot. It also seems to be popular with some backpackers there not to do their dishes, which is immediately noticeable when there is a lack of cups and small spoons. It is only a 2-minute walk from the beach, which has a pier that is great to see, especially in the evening. (Is lit, so an absolute tip to see it after sunset). The sanitary facilities are fine, as they are cleaned every day. However, the showers are not always the cleanest.

Ca 20 Autominuten vom Zentrum entfernt liegt dieses kleine Hostel. Sieht auf den ersten Blick ein wenig ranzig aus, doch wenn man den Hausflur hinter sich gelassen hat und die Zimmer betritt, ist es vollkommen in Ordnung. Auch die Küche und der essraum gehen klar, allerdings mit Abstrichen. Die Herdplatten brauchen eine gefühlte Ewigkeit um heis zu werden. Auch scheint es dort bei einigen backpackern beliebt zu sein seinen Abwasch nicht zu machen, was beim Mangel an Tassen und kleinen Löffeln sofort auffällt. Es liegt nur 2 Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt der ein, vor allem am Abend, toll anzusehendes Pier zu bieten hat. (Ist beleuchtet, also absoluter Tipp sich ihn nach Sonnenuntergang anzusehen). Die Sanitäranlagen gehen klar, da jeden Tag geputzt wird. Allerdings sind die Duschen nicht immer die saubersten.

The hostel is less luxurious and who would like to cook here is rather bad advice because the kitchen is catastrophic in my eyes. The beds are good and the bathrooms big enough. In the evening you can drink some beer with the night watchman. So if you are looking for a hostel where you want to experience Christchurch then head to the city. But if you want to save money and you're sick of cooking anyway, and you're not too fussy about driving a 30-minute bus every day, the point break is your choice ... friendly front desk faier price ... a bit off

Ein billiges Hostel nahezu direkt am Meer. Es ist ein guter Platz um es etwas ruhiger anzugehen, denn in New Brighton ist nicht sooo viel los. Direkt nebenan ist ein Dominos somit ist das essen sicher aber wenn man in die Stadt möchte muss man 15min mit dem Bus fahren. Das Hostel ist weniger luxuriös und wer gern kochen möchte ist hier auch eher schlecht beraten denn die küche ist in meinen Augen katastrophal. Die Betten sind gut und die Bäder groß genug. Abends kann man mit dem Nachtwächter paar Bier trinken. Also wenn ihr auf der Suche nach einem Hostel seid wo ihr Christchurch erleben wollt dann geht in die Stadt. Aber wenn ihr Geld sparen wollt und sowieso Kochfaul seid, sowie euch nicht zu fein jeden Tag 30 min Bus zu fahren ist das Point Break eure wahl... freundliche Rezeption faierer Preis ... etwas abgelegner
