P.This an awesome backpackers right in the center of Dunedin one block off the Octagon and right over the road from the Town Hall. For me the stairs were a challenge after several trips up and down. Room was clean and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved chilling in the Pool bar before sleeping
J.Matt and his team are welcoming and accomodating. The room I stayed in was nice, warm and comfortable. Location is convenient in town centre but nice and quiet.
H.A well organised hostel located conveniently near the centre of Dunedin. The rooms (I stayed in a six person dorm) were spacious, confortable and catered to all tech needs. Shared shower and bathroom facilities were very good, tidy and clean. The hostel had a nice common room/kitchen and a balcony with great views. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There is pay and display parking available next to the hostel. Two nights cost me $54 (light breatfast included), so I consider that very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.
S.A hostel experience we will never forget! Warm and friendly welcome especially with a last minute booking. The staff bring this place alive and the place is so homey. Suitable for all ages. Environmentally friendly but nothing was uncomfortable. Enjoyed the free pool and the bar had excellent music taste. The bar tenders were very fun but also very caring people which we all appreciated 😊 Great location for going to the Octogon but also for a quiet nights sleep (or not in our case). Was surprised by the $20 bond but worked out fine in the end. We noticed as we left that the ceiling was a bit sweaty in the morning so you should probably get that fixed but it didn't change our positive experience. Feels like our Dunedin home
3.Great spot right in the heart of town but just off to the side so to speak so not noisy at all... in fact Dunedin isn't really noisy ... just a 5 minute walk to the Octagon and 2 minutes to George St. Has a really cosy kitchen and lounge upstairs with big leather couches and a TV... The entire place kitchen, lounge, bathrooms, showers and the accommodation is spotless... they have a daily routine carried out by staff not backpackers working for rent like a lot of places I've stayed at.... highly recommended 👍

A.Stayed here for one night. Pretty good, affordable accommodation. Atmosphere is great, facilities are clean and spacious. Breakfast is a neat bonus, but nothing extraordinary. The dorms are a bit squishy and walls are thin though.
T.Clean room, friendly staff and good beer
R.Location is good, plenty of rooms which have good bathroom facilities, pleasant wall art and quiet rooms. The heat in the room blasted way too hot and the girls in my room stole my pillow before I checked in so I had to go the first night without. They put out breakfast for us but in reality it's toast with pb and jelly or marmalade or marmite options plus corn flakes. Free tea and coffee is pleasant. Maybe more like 4.5/5 stars when considering the price too. Be prepared for an extra $20 key deposit but you get it back at checkout.
T.Clean tidy facilities with an awesome atmosphere. Discounts at the bar beneath. I wish I could rate this 5 stars however on arrival you are not taken to your room, there is no car parking from the venue, no towels for showers, power plugs in room are restricted to one hour before they switch off. Even considering this, would definitely stay again.
O.Spent there 2 nights. Nice location, really clean rooms and bathrooms, lot of space in the kitchen/living room and the breakfast is included. The best advantage is that the reception is open until 10pm and also wifi is working really smooth.
H.I have never stayed at a Backpackers before but after staying here it was such a great experience and I would so totally come here again. The place is so amazing. I really enjoyed the free pool and free WiFi. And ON TOP of that a particular staff member named Lucy was so friendly and and helpful and made my stay worth while! So I would definitely recommend staying here.
C.I like the location (close to the Octagon), helpful staffs, clean and ample showers/toilets, free wifi, great atmosphere (pool tables on the ground floor, balcony with chairs and benches on the second floor), and competitive price. However, I find the double-decker beds squeaky, and power outlets are few in the dorm. (I was the last person in my room so all the outlets were taken. In the end I had to charge my phone in the washroom.)
S.Nice chilled out backpackers, pretty standard prices, nice big bathrooms with heaps of hot water. Bunks are a bit dodgy and can get very noisy with people running around the corridors at night, don't expect a lot of sleep. Pool bar is downstairs which is awesome!

Just above the Poolhouse, with great deals at the bar, perfect place to get some rest for few days or to stay for a long time !

c.On Top was a fun unique place to stay that is pool hall, bar, and hostel combined. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious and the location, right near the octagon, is the best you can find if you want to explore the sights as well as nightlife. Zenbu wifi is available.
T.I visit Dunedin often and stay in the Studio Units at On Top Backpackers. Fantastic service, quiet, clean, central to town, car parking outside and a bar for meeting my friends. Great friendly environment. Highly recommend.

J.Great Hostel. We spend 2 nights. It was clean, staff was friendly and it's beautiful. I also love the sustainable approach. They recycle and use old news papers instead of plastic bags in their bins. 🙏
K.Mostly good experience. Good, clean enough hostel and free pool. Sometimes it's the little things that get to you. We were going to stay another week but are moving off to Kiwi Basecamp in Christchurch instead. There are some minor annoyances like the wall outlets won't stay on longer than an hour - cellphones take at least 4-5 hours to charge, usually over night. That is super annoying. Same goes for the heater in the room, one hour. Limiting Internet (500mbs / day). Sounds fine until you want to download a Google map to get around (900mbs was mine this morning). Internet is the life blood of long term travelers and the only way we stay in touch with family/friends also our main source of entertainment, backing up of photos to Dropbox which automatically runs and sucks data. It's a note you can purchase additional Internet... But personally I would rather pay an extra buck and not have to. Just too many nit picky rules, but otherwise a good place.

D.The bedrooms are cleaverly lit during the day with natural light. Decent sized kitchen/lounge with large windows overlooking the nearby buildings. They could improve the ventilation of the large showerroom/toiletroom, but would stay here again. Around the corner from the Octogon, iSite and near two movie theaters. 5-10 min walk from 2 supermarkets.

Die Lage ist super allerdings ist die Küche sehr klein und die Toiletten nicht immer sauber. Außerdem sind die Duschen sehr alt und man hat keine Ablagefläche in der Duschkabine für Klamotten oder ähnliches. Ein großer Minuspunkt für mich war, dass man nach dem Check out die Gemeinschaftsräume nicht mehr nutzen konnte, nicht mal die Toiletten. Ich habe es noch nie erlebt das man rausgeschmissen wird.... Jedes andere Hostel in dem ich bisher war hat es einem ermöglicht sich dort noch aufzuhalten
