We were greeted by Lynda in a warm and very friendly manner and got told which room we would be in. (Giraffe 🦒) Our room was located upstairs and was as the name suggested Giraffe themed. The room was clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean and even though the building is older the attention for detail in each room and the friendliness of the staff make up for it! It is perfectly located, with just a short walk to basically everywhere in town if you are interested in food/drinks during your stay. Because it is not in the city centre you have unlimited free parking which is a big bonus. Lynda was lovely when we were checking out and gave us great recommendations for what to do in the surrounding area to best enjoy the wild west coast. BONUS: you get 10% off at the Monteith’s Brewery ✨ It was a lovely stay and I would recommend a stay here 10/10!

This place is the quintessential NZ backpackers with more character and charm than you can shake a stick at. The Animal theme makes it a neat option for families and it boasts everything one might need for a pleasant stay. We cooked our own meal there and ate it in the dining area for which the facilities are more than adequate. We should have had a BBQ in the Garden which was also a very viable option for someone eating in. Maybe next time. Its not the flashest place around and its not without its flaws and rough edges but these simply add to its bygone ambience. Moreover, Its clean and secure and as a budget conscious option whilst visiting Greymouth, you can't go past Noah's Ark. We are glad we didn't.

One of the cheapest price you can find in Greymouth. Each room is decorated with a different animal theme. The bed was so comfortable. We had a good sleep. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a TV room, a dining room and a garden. It is in the town area so close to everything. We just didn't like that there were some insects that got in our room as the window was left open.

Loved our stay here on the way South. Linda and Harry are amazing hosts. Linda made the trifle to die for to share! Great facilities, comfy bed, and friendly house pets! Thank you so much. We will be back!

Lovely management. Quirky rooms, fabulous building which must have been quite something in it's time. Lounge, dining and kitchen are great spaces set up well. Bathroom downstairs is shabby. Lots of cobwebs but with such high ceilings I guess it can't be helped!

Absolutely brilliant experience here. The "ark" itself is a charismatic old building with heaps of history, great views over the greymouth area, and some decent amenities for guests. Beds have been comfortable, room was presented well, and the hosts have been lovely. For a backpackers and the value-for-money, this is definitely a 5/5 for me, though if you're after luxurious, super quiet and private living, this may not be your ideal.

Awesome owner, atmosphere really feels homely. Great kitchen! We talked about travel and motorbikes while Harry kindly offered to help me out making a coffee with the machine there.

We were accommodated for amazingly. Great location in Greymoutn, our room was very comfortable and we had a great rest for the night. Great hospitality!

Amazing accommodation loved the layout of each room with different types of animals. We stayed in the cow room. Accommodation was close to McDonald's and only walking distance to Greymouth town 👍 Good value worth every penny. They were professional & provided a great service. Thank you to Lynda & Harry for giving us a good deal & both had a great humor. Thanks to Paul who helped us on the first night when we arrived, when we needed anything he was there to assist. Absolutely loved it!!!! Was greeted by Cosmo and Harry, two very friendly and welcoming faces. The room was so cute ❤️❤️ comfortable and awesomely priced. Noahs Ark is so close to so much, plenty of recreational options and accommodation and facilities were excellent!!! Totally Loved It ❤️❤️❤️

Only stayed a night however could have stayed there a whole lot longer if I had the time! Harry and Lynda are both gems who made me feel super welcome. My room was great, warm spacious and the bed was just what the back needed after surfing and driving all day! Facilities and kitchen were mint, loved the elevated views of the surrounding town as well, felt like I was at home :-) Thanks again and great to chat to you both, hopefully see you again soon!

Hosts Harry and Lynda are friendly , helpful, great to chat to they clearly enjoy their guests. The hostel is in a beautiful old building with spacious rooms, very well equipped kitchen separate TV room and a large lounge to relax in.

Noah’s Ark has been my best backpacker experience in New Zealand ever. Harry and Linda are very welcoming and truly care about their guests. They take care that each guest has a relaxing and good experience. Rooms and facilities are very clean. The owners create an atmosphere of hospitality and warmth, for example by having little treats for their guests (I was welcomed with German Christmas cookies :-) or playing the guitar in the mornings. The location is great, close to the historic city center of Greymouth, the railway station, and good food places. Wi-Fi is good and works reliably. Thank you for this great stay!

By far the nicest backpackers In greymouth, rooms are comfortable and clean, the showers have good pressure and a good temperature range. Linda is very lovely and has lots of local knowledge, if you are ever stuck for something to do she can always find something for ya to do.

The name of this hostel suits it perfectly ! I crashed here after a car issue, feeling a bit homeless (I was living in this van) and hopeless but I ended up finding at Noah's way more than just a bed. Linda and Harry are lovely people and so is the atmosphere. It's really kind of a home away for home. As for the facilities, some seems a bit oldish due to the building's age but they are clean and practical. The garden, the living room and the balconies are perfect spots to relax (try the hammock if weather allows you, best place for a nap!), kitchen is big and well-equiped, wifi is working well and showers are hot with a good pressure. Special bonus : the cute dog and the purring cat, both cuddle lovers. So yeah, forget the freecamp and come at Noah's Ark, you won't regret it.

Stayed here for 2 nights, super friendly, welcoming staff & very nice, clean rooms! Can only recommend if you’re in for some funny jokes and good stories!! 😊

The host (Cozmo) was very attentive often came by to check on us. There was a great community atmosphere too. The rooms each have their own dedicated stuffed toy animal (we were in the cat room). We were also offered discounts to local attractions by Cozmo's human. Ps Cozmo is a dog.

Absolutely everything matched our expectations and needs for a restful accommodation. Everything was clean. We had totally enough space for all our stuff and needs. The location was very calm. The building has a very quality and charm. The interior and design was very lovely and interesting. All other visitors of the quite small backpackers were also inspiring and gentle, like the three guys who were playing on the piano almost perfectly. What a pleasure. Last but not least, the hosts have interesting backgrounds and histories and we spend hours of inspiring talks with them.

This hostel is great and the workers are really friendly. It has a nice and warm vibe, with a large, clean kitchen and nice dining areas, both inside and outside. The rooms and bathrooms were clean as well. The animals on the walls make for a nice atmosphere and Cosmo the dog was great company to have during my stay =)

The best backpacker I have lived so far! Love the homely feel and the lovely environment. The most amazing thing was the rooms, every room is unique and is themed after an animal. Harry is so chilled out and Lynda is the loveliest. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Really like this place. It's not a new establishment, but the host has maintained it well. The setting is really cozy, hosts are friendly, along with a few residents that are in their working-holiday. There's also a dog named Cosmo and a cat (not sure what's it's name). Definitely recommending this accommodation.

Chose the hotel again for my second visit to Greymouth and happy to see the landlords again. Clean and cozy. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. View from the balcony is beautiful. Location is very good. Strongly recommended to everyone.

Amazing Hostel in Greymouth with friendly hosts that make your stay feel a little bit like home. Highly recommended for musicians: there are multiple guitars, a host that can play the guitar like the devil himself and a decently tuned piano. Stayed there for a few nights and would love to go there again!

Great place, was the first stop for a West Coast Adventure! The man at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Clean kitchen. Nice and quiet. Stayed in a double room. Perfect for the price. Shared bathroom slightly damp but cleaned twice a day.

What a lovely place! I really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, it really felt like being home. Plus the staff is really friendly and helpful. You can also get a bike for free, perfect for exploring the city and get to the beach!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for a night in a double room which had same charme through its Zebra theme. There have been two bath rooms more or less beside it, where the shower in one didn't become warm and the shower head holder at the other bath was broken. Our bed was a bit aged, but we slept well in it. The view from the room was just into a courtyard onto another building which been a bit boring. The living and dinning room was well kept and there has been a separate room with some couches to hang out. Kitchen well equipped and spacious enough. The owner who also received us at the entrance was friendly and welcoming. Even though the hostel wasn't the most modern one we felt good to stay here. Paid 74NZD for a double room non ensuite. A bit pricey, but still the cheapest you could get with BBH discount in town.

Good backpack for one night. The room where I stayed was out of the main building which I found weird. During night I heard a lot of noise and the tv wasn’t working. The room was a bit dusty and the toilets didn’t have hot water which I didn’t appreciate in the morning.

Extremly friendly stuff. They help my with a problem, i coud use there workbench. absolut clean kitchen also well organized. I was a pleasure to cook. The dorm was nice and the matress was comfortable. Just a good place to stay few days. And Cosmo is a pleasure to meet.

Noah's Ark is a homely big house with many different themed rooms. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable about New Zealand with some great chat to boot.

A really nice hostel, it’s like a tale house, every room is occupied by different animal’s painting and deco. It’s a old building but well maintained. The owner lady is friendly and helpful.

Fabulous old house with atmosphere. Large rooms which are themed making a lot of fun. Big kitchen and great lounge eating area. Close to town and transport.

Fantastic Bathroom, very clean abd tidy. Staff are a pleasant bunch a people. Beds need a little work, as there metal framed bunks that squeek a lot. Apart from that no issues with this fantastoc backpackers.

I stayed there for three weeks, to help in the general maintenance for a free accommodation. It is a very cool and chill place. The Host's are very nice and the rooms are comfortable and cosy.

I really appreciated this hostel. The rooms are very large, clean and comfortable as well as the kitchen and the bathrooms. There is a big garden with free BBQ and ammocks. The hostel provides also FREE bikes!

Atmosphere 10/10. Location sweetas. Staff really cool. An old monestry, high ceilings, big garden, every room has an animal as subject, proper place to stay in Greymouth.

Hard for me to fault this place. I arrived in Greymouth late, on a bicycle, with a huge storm coming in. The town was deserted, rain sweeping the streets. Ark reception was already closed for the evening, but they kindly opened their doors and let me in. The place was cosy, warm, all that a hostel should be.
