Was ok. After the first night they only made two of the three beds? And didn't replace some of the condiments?No air conditioning or fan provided in the heat. Very dated. No utensils. Rooms aren't sound proof.My daughter was sick on the last night. They were very understanding about the linen.. Rooms really clean and tidy.

Fantastic Staff, impeccably clean rooms, quality meals in the Sports Bar. Breakfast was slow (we had to get to work on time so an issue). The hotel building itself is becoming tired despite best efforts.

Accommodation is nice enough. Internet is a little slow, but that's to be expected in such a large place. The only thing we were truly disheartened over was the lack of vegan friendly food on their menu. First time in Invercargill and sad to say the redneck/bogan way of life down here has certainly slowed the development of plant based options, not just in the hotel itself.

Beds very comfortable, rooms too hot. Food was expensive $35+, service was terrible in the restaurant. Long wait for food. Food was very average. Would stay there again but not use the restaurant

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms very tired and dated, but were very clean. Unfortunately they are not sound proof. Could hear every thing.

Stayed here on a work trip, just needed somewhere to rest for the night. The cons: The room I has was very dated. Like, quite dated. Everything was either brown, or a browny-cream, or yellow. I think it was last renovated in the 60s or 70s. The bed wasn't comfortable, I think the bed was purchased just after the room was built. I slept on top of the blankets to give it some padding. There was no extractor fan in the bathroom. The noise. So. Much. Noise. Want to hear the person in the next room ordering room service? Well boy oh boy, do I have a hotel recommendation for you. You could hear every little thing people did in the rooms around you. Thank the gods I was exhausted to the point where I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The meh: There was a stark contrast in the decor between the elevator landing zone (looks like it was recently updated) and the hallways (felt like I'd travelled back in time 50 years). Communal fridge was a bit weird. Sort of like throwing your keys in a bowl at one of those parties your parents used to throw, except you left with someone else's meat instead of their wife. Brownie trifle sounds really good in theory but it's served in a jar and was really awkward to eat. Didn't help that the brownie had been chilled since the room was renovated and was quite tough. The pros: The staff were super nice. Explained the carpark to me, showed me where the bars and restaurants were. Super friendly. 10/10. Restaurant was great. Ordered the steak. Perfectly cooked. Perfect amount of mushroom sauce too. I would absolutely eat there again. Really enjoyed the shower. Water pressure was good. The bathroom had been renovated recently so it was quite a nice place to chill out for a bit and reflect on the world.

Receptionist friendly and very helpful. Comfortable, warm room, plus had a great view. Excellent meal at the Level 1 restaurant. The lamb was amazing.

Excellent service from staff, the restaurant was great and the staff went above and beyond after a small misunderstanding. The only thing I didn’t love was the (lack of) soundproofing, on one side I could clearly hear the shower and on the other side I could hear guests talking pretty clearly. Everything else was fabulous, thank you!

Not a great experience staff could have done with more training both in bar keeping and table service. Meals were patchy. Entrees great but mains left a bit to be desired. Will be a while before I would venture back. The atmosphere of the place, however, is nice

Wow. A quiet little gem in Invers. We chose the corner suite with balcony and spa bath and love it. Great birds eye view over 2 sides of the town, great watching the storm glide in. Super clean and tidy. Perfect help at reception when we arrived, super friendly and then free secure parking across the road was a bonus. Will update after we try the room service menu :)

Last minute decision to stay, checked in 9.40, was in my room watching AB's and eating room service by 10pm, awesome place.

The editor's cut unusual name for a bar given the long term neighbouring paper has moved and it is odd to understand any connection. The bar itself is comfortable and inviting and staff and service warm and friendly. Worth a visit.

Only disappointment was no air con and the fact you can here everything from the rooms next to you.

Nice clean and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Only issue is with the limited internet access, I went through it in a couple of zoom meetings. Maybe look elsewhere if you are in town on business.

The Kelvin has the new traffic light system in place for Covid protection so make sure you have your vaccine pass. We had a lovely Christmas meal today for our Rotary meeting. I love the venue and the staff went beyond expectations to make it a festive meeting. Thanks you team Kelvin Hotel!!

Room was great breakfast was meh..... Dinner was good. Toilet was too small. Reception could have been better and they lost part of our reservation. Would probably stay again.

Really great we can check in late at night. Rooms are very tidy and comfortable. Good value for money. Highly recommend

I had an amazing stay at Kelvin Hotel. I stayed for 3 nights and didn't want to leave. The staff were amazing. From reception, to the restaurant, to house keeping, every single staff member I encountered was fantastic at their job. Always smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. Worth their weight in gold.

All in all a good place to stay. All covid precautions were taken care of in a proper way. Nothing to complaint about. Very near from the airport and the centre of the city. Many places to eat and shop around the hotel. Hotel staff was co-operative. The only issue was the cleaning staff in the alley way were too loud (Laughing and speaking loudly) which caused disturbance.

Always enjoy staying at the Kelvin, service is first class

Meal was very average, above average charge for the evening.

A little noisy a rugby team staying and obviously forgot to take key, woken up with noise of his arrival home.

stayed here for a night in a twin room, the toilet separate from the bathroom was a treat!! Nice friendly staff. Had dinner in the restaurant, the roast chicken breast with all the vegetables was absolutely delicious. Had breakfast the next morning, again, very nice. Highly recommended.

Although I'm a 'local' I have had many friends/relations stay here and all report favorably about the service and accommodations. Myself? we call in for a meal at the restaurant and again cannot complain.

It's fine. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Ice is available in freezers on the floors. Attached pub and restaurant are fine. Temperature seems a bit warm... Which is fine when it's cold, but a bit much if it's mild. Very convenient location, friendly staff. Covers all the bases, and is a good example of a three or four star hotel. Clean. Free newspaper if you ask for it. Parking is a little complicated, so ask at reception first.

Room clean and spacious. Front desk warm and friendly. Ordered room service and got a very frosty reception there. My steak was inedible. Every mouthful was gristle I couldn't chew through and had to be spat out.

Looks a little bit tired and dated from the outside. Great location as it is in the centre of town and amenable to the local shops and bars. My room looked a little dated but was clean and comfortable. The TV was very small and fixed to the wall. The bed was very soft - a little to soft for me but led to a very comfortable sleep. The lifts are old, dated and a bit worse for wear but they are in the process of updating them. The bathroom in my room looked recently refurbished so hopefully this will extend to the room and the outside of the building.

Enjoyed the stay - large room. and good heating . ordered oysters and they were awful. I was tired and waited till the morning to tell staff. I got told off for not bringing the prob to the kitchen at the time. The did halve the bill which was fine.

We had our wedding reception here in October 2018 and the service was fantastic! Food was delicious and Brendan made the planning process so easy! Having accomodation right there for guests was so convenient and the honeymoon suite was well worth booking.

Lovely hotel and welcoming staff. Situated right in the middle of town. Their restaurant was nice and cosy, with a good offering. The only minus was that parking was over on an adjacent street and it wasn't clear if I was to get a ticket to pay for it or if it was complimentary. Walking over to the parking area on a blistering cold winter night was not fun. Turns out they offer valet parking, but I wasn't made aware of this early enough. Otherwise a really enjoyable stay.

Staff were lovely, the meal excellent and my room was very comfortable.

Nice hotel in the middle of town. The rooms are fairly standard and the staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. My tv remote didn't work and there was construction happening on the building during my stay but despite this it was an overall pleasant experience. I will come back to stay here for my next visit.

Had a lovely stay here for a couple of nights. Room was very comfortable and staff were very accommodating. So handy to town. Everything within walking distance.

The hotel remained spotless the entire time there. We definitely got value for our money. Always welcomed from reception to the bar and restaurant. Staff very helpful and friendly. A great central location. Right in the city centre with a nice little Tapas bar next door. The breakfast was well below par.

Staff were warm and helpful. Room was tidy and clean. Bed was warm and comfortable. Bathroom and toilet were clean and relatively new. TV and Wifi great. Only recommendations would be to update cabinets, provide a heat pump and possibly add a microwave. And would I stay at the Kelvin again; most definitely.

The room is maintained very clean throughout our stay. The executive suites are to die for. The staff at this hotel could not be more friendly and accommodating for. All an all a perfect place for stay in Southland if you want to walk around the city and have a hotel experience.

Great room with twin double beds, but wasn't warm enough.

Perfect central location. Rooms are good for their age. The staff are helpful and they have a good arrangement with the local car park whereby you park for nothing. I found this to be extremely good value for money. Very central to town and just a good place to stay when away from home.

Clean and comfortable rooms, the restaurant has great food with a wide selection. The staff was very helpful. The elevators are old and kind of creepy. (update: elevators have been replaced with new ones)

We had Family stay at the Hotel on two separate occasions and they couldn't fault the experience. They loved being in the center of town and having everything there. So we went in and enjoyed a meal and met the functions manager in the process and ended up having our wedding reception in the 6th floor functions room. What a view, and a fantastic night had by all, great food & service. We also stayed in the Honeymoon suite/ The Room and what a amazing room it is, the only south facing window in the place and your own private deck. The bathroom was massive too, we've stayed at Trailways in Nelson and thought that was fantastic. The Kelvin Hotel beats that!!! Would love to stay again, we thoroughly recommend it!

Lovely homely place. Kind staff clean rooms. Food wasn't great at breakfast but I did go later than normal. Decorr reminds me of nana a bit re furniture but that adds to its charm

The next time I am back in Invercargill I am going to stay there again. The hotel is located next to everywhere you need to be. The room was clean and warm. The restaurant below was excellent. The breakfast was the best pancakes I have had in a very long time

The staff are great and they try their best to look after their customers. And while most of the bathrooms have been done up you can't help the old exterior which lets the wind in. Also if you knows there is going to be a southerly don't stay in the upper floors the wind and rain can batter the building.

The kelvins hotel is pretty good for meals. They have one bad habit and that is putting "new greens" on top of old ones in the bistro. It always looks bad when you have different coloured greens on your plate and its extremely easy to see some are old and some are new. Use up all the old ones first!

Room ok breakfast overpriced, greeted on arrival but not very friendly on departure unusual for Southland as generally they are very hospitable people

Went up to the Level 1? bar on a Monday night... it’s such a great spot.... seems to be a bit quiet with impending developments in area... Barman was entertaining and efficient

Went there for my girlfriends 50th birthday. In town for a work event on the same week as the Burt Munro weekend made it difficult to get a bed. Went up to my room, strong smoking smell in a non-smoking room. Completely unacceptable for a hotel on any level.

Had a great meal at the Level 1 restaurant, service was excellent and the Snapper was tasty

It's run and operated by the Invercargill Licensing Trust. Service is excellent, restaurant great and the rooms spacious, clean and tidy. Very comfortable stay. Right in the middle of the CBD so handy to the shopping. Well worth the stay.

The band in the lounge played until well after midnight and the room was smaller than an ordinary bathroom. The bed mattress sink so low when sat on we practically were on the base.

Haven't stayed here but have down a training course for 2 days In there private room off the restaurant. Restaurant food was good and staff were friendly and helpful.

The restraunt was the best ever. Portion sizes were huge and staff very friendly. Hotel is right in town and lots of things happening around the place especially on weekends

We had a lovely evening out tonight at Level One. Very attentive waitress and all staff were very pleasant and the food was great. The chef was very accommodating giving us a mixed entree of oysters
