N.Lovely atmosphere. Staff are very nice and welcoming. We ordered a pizza (which was divine, by the way) and didn't even need to wait that long for it to be served. Food is a 10/10. Lots of seating options. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.
C.Only had a brief experience storing luggage but the staff member that assisted was absolutely wonderful, big smile and friendly service - Much needed after a bad day.

R.Nice place to stay, reasonable rates for the rooms, especially if you want a room to yourself. Bathrooms are a little small, not many showers and toilets and a little run down but everything looks clean. Laundry is nice, and the kitchen and tv rooms are well stocked. Happy to stay here again.

C.Coolest bar in town by a long shot. Then add a great range of craft beers, regular live music nights... coolest bar in Southland IMHO! Go enjoy.

C.Had pizza, a juice and some fries. Was really yummy and would have gotten 4 stars but the fries arrived past halfway into the fries after we had to remind them. The service itself was actually very good as they apologised and had the chips out promptly after that. Would happily go back again just hope they don't forget any items again.
S.We stayed here for one night, before heading to Stewart Island to do the great walk. Rooms were comfy, good shower and had the facilities that we needed for the night. Being New Years Eve we could hear the band playing next door, but can’t fault the establishment for that. Coffee and fruit smoothies were awesome, and a food discount for staying at the Backpackers was a bonus. Shuttle pick up to Bluff was right outside the main door, and the staff were able to help with a few questions about the town. Located right downtown and easy walking distance to all the main stores.
K.A great place to stay. Staff explained that they were operating without a manager, but what a great job they are doing. Friendly, helpful and rooms were warm and clean. Kitchen well provided for and despite what is written in other reviews, I can vouch for the quality coffee and good food. Its a chilled out place where a wide variety of people call by and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

B.Comfy mattresses and nice location, though bunk beds are quite wobbly. Showers don't drain too well, but otherwise very nice hostel, the food is really good, too!

C.I am very underwhelmed at my experience here. It is not all the hostels fault. But a ton of construction and only 4 parking spaces for the whole hostel made arriving a nightmare. The staff seemed to be confused and not sure of what they were doing. The room is basic and clean. Ok place for a stop over but I would suggest skipping the whole town.

J.Good Wi-Fi and nice beds. Convenient cafe/bar running together with the hostel. Got really unlucky and the fire alarm went of during the night so had to vacate the building for a while.

J.Nice hostel with plenty of communal spaces. Having different lounges was great. The bathrooms could have been better. Very dark and weren't the cleanest.

M.Best hostel i have stayed in for a while. I travelled oz and nz. Tuatara Backpackers is clean and loads of extra space around. Plus Southland is stunning.
A.Room/accommodation wise, not a fan. Would just be 2 stars. However, the cafe has amazing food, very delicious and big servings which I would give 5 stars.
A.While the facilities and the building itself are a little worn, they are all in working order. There were clean rooms and sheets with comfortable beds for a decent price right in the centre of Invercargill.
B.Very clean toilets and rooms. Great location in the center of the town. Beds are not so comfortable. No A/C so it was very hot in the rooms sometimes.
J.The food and service is wonderful. The staff are outgoing and friendly. A great place to while away some time people watching.

M.(Translated) Nice rooms and lounges. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. The kitchen is on the top floor, quite unusual but nice and big! There are 2 cozy TV rooms. Everything was clean and the bathrooms are nice and clean! Some rooms are on the street and the windows do not keep all the noise off so it's not that quiet at night! The hostel is very centrally located and the supermarket is also only a 15 minute walk.

Schöne Zimmer und Lounges. Freies WLAN im ganzen Gebäude verfügbar. Die Küche ist im obersten Stock, recht ungewöhnlich aber schön groß! Es gibt 2 gemütliche TV Räume. Alles sauber und auch die Bäder sind schön sauber! Manche Zimmer liegen an der Straße und die Fenster halten nicht alle Geräusche ab deswegen ist es nachts nicht ganz so leise! Das Hostel ist sehr zentral gelegen und zum Supermarkt sind es auch nur ein 15 Minuten zu Fuß.
