Had a great stay here in the Waitangi weekend. We were a large group of 22 (incl children) and felt very comfortable during our short stay. The manager Randhir allowed us to use the bar space(closed due to covid) for our dinner which worked our superbly for a large group like ours rather than cramming into someone's room. Rooms have names & not numbers which is pretty unique. Rooms were well kept, mattresses a bit too jiggly, but only for a night so were not a show stopper. Shower pressure was excellent. Would def recommend for a quick stay while in Masterton.

Great Motel. Feels more like a hotel actually. The owners go the extra mile. We arrived late and the heat pump was running already welcoming us to a warm, clean and spacious room. Had a great time using the spa bath. Everything you’d need. Would definitely stay there again.

Room was nice, dark, but fridge smelt, told the owners, they cleaned it but the smell can back, and two big stains on floor. And cars aren't but units make a long trip with bags. Great people to deal with, very nice rooms. Would stay again.

This place has a lot of potential but is let down by some really simple fixes. The bed is made up of a large collection of lumps formed into the shape of a mattress. Having liquid soap in the shower is just nasty and cheapens the stay. The sign in reception stating the restaurant is closed due to redundancy is tacky. The list goes on...

We arrived much later than the check-in time because we got caught up in traffic, but the manager was very very understanding. In fact, he went out of his way to provide us with complimentary wine, gave us food and local sightseeing suggestions, served us breakfast in the lobby, and helped us with our car at the time of our departure. Highly recommend this inn because of amazing hospitality! The room was also of course very comfortable!

We booked through booking.com for 1 night, we got a free upgrade to 2 x King beds. 1 was an actual king and the other was 2 singles pushed together making the middle incredibly uncomfortable. The pillows were all hard and soft. We had prepaid for breakfast as it was available- but the reception didn’t open till 9, there was no breakfast in the room and a sign saying no kitchen due to staff lay offs. The wifi wasn’t switched on or working, there were 3 options for wifi and none were available and all the passwords none worked. Photos showed shampoo / conditioner and soap available, but infact there was only 1 liquid hand soap/body wash / shampoo thing in shower. The room was lovely and clean and the shower was amazing. The man that greeted us was lovely, just a let down that the amenities we paid for were not available. I have requested a refund for breakfast.

Fantastic service, clean, tidy, spacious and well set out rooms and very well priced. Large bathroom with spa and plenty of room for my toddler to play and my 11 year old to chill out. Great idea to stop and staying before heading through to wellington.

Located on SH2 at the southern end of Masterton, the Gateway Motor Inn in an elegant establishment that is much more refined inside than it appears from the outside. The stylish lobby, bar and reception room are most impressive. The rooms themselves are large, spacious and tastefully designed. The facilities are good, our room had a small kitchenette, which included a sink, microwave and small fridge. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Quite reasonably priced at just under $300 for 1 adult and two children for two nights. The kids thought the place was "really posh" (they were most impressed). We will stay here again if we come to Masterton in the future.

A bit late on the review but here it goes. It may seem like another Motor Inn but you are quiet wrong. My first impression as I stepped into the premises was it was very beautifully looked after. A formal wear would be more appropriate as I arrived in a Tshirt and shorts with my newborn slung on my shoulder. I was greeted by the owner who was very accommodating due to our circumstances understood what we needed and rushed us to our room. The room is so nicely decorated that I would say we hit the jackpot on this one. Overall we had a great time here and we would love to visit and stay here again. Thank you for having us. Beautiful room, comfy bed and fab bathroom!!! The shower was simply fantastic! The water was hot and came out like a waterfall. Tushna and the staff are friendly, welcoming and very gracious hosts. We'll be back!

Amazing high quality stay with the friendliest staff. This place makes you feel like you’re not even in masterton. You must book yourself in here if you can find a room!

Great value for money, very clean, renovated bathroom, spacious and comfortable room, patio with garden outlook, quiet away from road. Kitchenette is small but perfectly good for breakfast and lunches.

Quick trip for 2 nights in Masterton for family birthday celebration end of July 2017 & must say we had the most amazing experience at The Gateway Motor Inn. Super helpful friendly staff who explained to us upon our arrival that I had booked incorrect room online but we were provided an upgrade straight away at no extra charge. Our room was lovely, spacious, comfortable and so warm, such a nice place to come back to at the end of the day with the icy temps outside. Our hosts were absolutely accomodating to our every need. We thank you all so much and look forward to returning again soon, next time longer. Ps, the shower is awesome! Thank you Gateway staff. I know next time which room to book. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Wairarapa than the Gateway. Luxury large rooms for an affordable price. Super clean and best of all a fantastic strong shower. We've been used to staying at the Copthorne up the road but in comparison these rooms were much larger and much more modern. WiFi was just fine and not complex like some to jump on. The host, Tushna was so very pleasant and charming. All in all a very pleasant stay and we'll be back for sure.

Nice environment. Lovely rooms. The entrance and lounge area is very dark and gloomy and although they advertise a restaurant -the restaurant is not operational. We chose to stay there due to it having a restaurant so this was a disappointment.
