T.Epic hostel in such a good location, I'll definitely visit again. The only downside was I couldn't see any lockable storage areas for valuables, but there were no issues. Highly recommend

Right beside the street but barely heard the cars. Nice staff and a Spa. It’s an old one but still nice to relax in hot water with all the lights around in the garden. Will be back if I’m in the area again. Thank you
A.This was really wonderful experience. Hostels can be really bad experience, but here the owners are really doing a lot for you to feel like at home. Amazing kitchen, lots of outdoor space and I think there were two chillout rooms? I loved it there and I can only wish to be back one day.

R.Enjoyed my first two nights so much,stayed an extra night.Used as a base to bike the Link Pathway (magic,great work team).Loved the spa pool and fireplace in the lounge(beaut place to read and also meet and chat with people).Good kitchen, comfortable bedroom, centrally located.Parking not so good.Enjoy
C.This was the 2nd time we stayed there cos it was very reasonable, quiet n close to the ferry n town. Only thing was the twin bed mattresses were very soft as compared to the other room we had. Otherwise a 5 star.
C.I loved the space in the female dorm - enough to actually feel relaxed and space for my luggage as well. I very much enjoyed the free hot tub that was offered as well as the hammock in the garden - I haven't felt so relaxed in a while whilst travelling. Also the free tea and coffee and milk powder - how lovely. This place is also very close to everything including the bakery next door which is dangerously delicious.
C.Nice and cute Hostel to stay for a few nights. I like the old wooden house and the hot pool in the garden. The girls working there are very nice, friendly and always smiling 😉
I only felt a bit uncomfortable with older men drinking too much, talking, staring at me and being drunk in the kitchen.

S.Beds were uncomfortable and the place overall could use sprucing up. Everything works but nothing is really in great condition. Bathroom/shower areas are very small. When first walking in there is a unqualified smell. Bikes for rent are run down and staff didn’t know where the key was to unlock them. There is a cozy shared living room which was nice to relax and chat with people.
Q.a very nice, clean and cozy hostel. I love the building and atmosphere here. Kitchen and common rooms are comfortable and big. There are 2 kitchen and 2 common room, everyone gets there own space. Best location with reasonable rate, plus free apple crumble in the evening. I feel like home in the Villa. This place is definitely the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in!
V.This was my last YHA stay during my New Zealand trip. This place is pretty close-by to the main bus station/ferry station. I was fascinated to learn that this whole place was over 100 years old! They have retained the old structure and have renovated it a little. There is a first floor too, but no elevator, so you will have carry your luggage! Fortunately mine was on the ground floor itself. I stayed in a co-ed 4 bed sharing room. The room was spacious and clean. The out door seating area is very beautiful and a perfect place to read a book or unwind! The staff were friendly and welcoming. They have cycles to borrow but make sure to test the brakes before taking it out! Out of the 3 days that I was there, they had free apple pie and ice cream which was yum! The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, a fridge, and a microwave. I would definitely recommend this place and it's safe for solo women travelers.

T.Sweet and neat hostel. Lot of rooms and place. Wonderful backyard to chill and sit down. Laundry is alright the dryer is not the best though. The beds are quite unstable and loud. The wifi is a complete mess.
The facilities are all clean and fine.
Good located in Picton quite near town center.

P.I've used it a couple of times in late '17.Good kitchen and dining area. Laid back staff. A couple of guitars in the common area that needed restringing...
I'll be back there in a month and update my rating
Update Feb '19: yep guitar still needs restringing. A little less stuff in the kitchen to cook and eat with, but clean overall
Update Feb '20: guitars are gone now. 1 hob doesn't work putting a cramp on dinnertime. Kitchen could use a deep cleaning. Downgrade to 3 stars
P.I've stayed here twice, and both times the reception was excellent, and the whole place was spotless. The location is also ideal. I highly recommend the Villa.
S.Very cool hostel, stylish and surrounded by flowers. The internal yard seems like a real villa. Close to the ferry check in and the harbor.
C.hostel is okey for a night out two. there's two different buildings, we were located in the cottage which is tired looked and had a small kitchen and tiny living room. our dorm of six was pretty cramped and there was very small space to leave our staff or lock it. bed not
v comfy.the main building has a nice kitchen and dining area with a much bigger leaving room..
hot tap is a plus. nice garden
P.Very nice backpacker. Room & kitchen are good, free breakfast. The hots pools and the terrace are also good. If you stay some days in Picton... Go there!
B.I love the unique quality of this place. The villa is gorgeous and a true piece of NZ history. The staff are helpful and friendly. There are a number of areas that need fixing (eg. bathroom door in room 4 is broken), but for all the foibles one might expect from a well utilised older property it has a beautiful relaxed and homely feel.

They can book cheaper activities for you. Bad stuff: rooms have no lockers, showers should have more hooks, certain parts could be refreshed a bit.

B.Lovely lodge with friendly staff and great facilities. Great recommendations for local attractions. Quaint little garden with treehouse and fairy lights. A number of bicycles available to borrow and explore the local area. Pretty similar pricing to competitors in the area but really cute so a great choice.
T.Lovely little hostel in Picton. Has a funky south east asia vibe to it. Rooms and washrooms are located outside in small cottages. 8 people dorms were decently sized. There were not really enough room for storing everyones belongings properly. No lockers either.
Rooms are always humid and smell a little like wet carpet. The heaters dont work for some rooms (our heating pad and heating fan was dead). One of the showers had 2/10 water pressure.
The kitchen was small and only some of the stoves worked, but we got free toast and spreads :) Apple crumble and ice cream errday at 8pm as well. Oh and they have a warm tub (not hot tub).
Experience was nice and cheap. Would probbaly stay here again.
J.Cosy, clean and friendly hostel with a homely feel. Everyone in lounge together mixing at night, playing games, doing jigsaws. The delicious honemade apple pie and ice cream at 8 pm (apparently served every night to guests) was a bonus. Borrowed one of their complimentary mountain bikes to cycle alongside harbour and along Picton to Waikawa trail.
