V.By far, the best hostel in Queenstown! Lived there for a while and it is like home for me.. wonderful staff, free dinner on Thursdays, all facilities very good and clean. Definitely recommend it!
N.Great price, with very accessible location to town center (roughly 7-10mins walk). It could do with better insulation from sound, can hear people snoring next door 😄 - but for the price, it's all good, could just buy earplugs.

A.Stayed here for a week in a 8 person private room. Honestly was the best experience - super friendly staff and other guests made having dinner in the shared kitchen a really fun time. Room and kitchen were exceptionally clean and the room had really good climate control. Location was in such close proximity of town centre and they had good storage for skis and luggage. Thanks for having us, we'll be back :)))
A.One of the best hostels I've stayed at in NZ. Awesome freebies like bikes and a spa, very comfy rooms and common areas, and a great location - 5 mins walk to central Queenstown. The reception team were also super accomodating when some of our party had to change their booking last minute due to illness and made everything very easy.
R.The matress was really bad, it had a dip in the middle to the left that made it hard to sleep and caused me backache. Also it is not nice to find srrands of hair on what is supposed to be a fresh bed. It cost too much for the low quality. My son asked if we could get our money back and sleep in the car for the second night.

The kitchen is quite nice but there was strong smell of burning plastic a few times when others were cooking. My partner also mentioned that the pans are all scratched and burnt so she didn't end up using them. However depending on your standards this might be fine! The microwaves were pretty clean so we used those.
Biggest downside for me was the bed mattress. It was way too soft which made it hard to sleep the first night.
There was also loud partying on the Saturday night, with people outside on the road yelling and singing off-and-on from midnight until around 3am.
The walls let a fair amount of sound through from other rooms, which could have been an issue, but thankfully the other guests were pretty quiet after 10pm.
Although we didn't end up using it, they also have a cozy communal space with TV and board games.
Enjoyed sitting in the spa-pool before bed looking at the stars.
Overall a good experience and reasonably priced.
L.We spent one month in that hostel and it was honestly a great stay, we really enjoyed the efforts that all the team put into the social night with a free diner every Wednesday. All the facilities were really clean every time. Big and spacious living area with a fire place worm and cosy over winter. You can also have a free acces to bikes to go for a ride around the lake. A big thanks to Kayla for all her help in our way to settle down in Queenstown. 😁
J.Me and my partner absolutely loved it. We stayed in a private room and I couldn’t say anything negative about it. It was small but for the price, who cares. The kitchen was clean and tidy and there was lots of fridge space. If there was a bit of mess that was because of other guests. The kitchens were closed for cleaning once a day which was perfect. The shower in the shared bathroom was really nice and the bathrooms were clean. The location was incredibly ideal, close to bus stops and close to the city centre. We never had to drive anywhere. The staff were lovely and helpful. The noise from the other guest wasn’t that bad. Overall I would be happy to stay here again.
S.This backpackers really made our winter stay in Queenstown very memorable. We stayed in one of the second-storey family rooms with fantastic views of the Remarkables. The room was always warm with comfy beds, plenty of storage space and a fridge. A few things stood out for us: very helpful and friendly staff (nothing was ever a problem), very clean bathrooms, clean kitchen with plenty of cutlery and crockery, free meal on Wednesday night, free bike hire (quality bikes!), spa and within walking distance to all major attractions in the town. I'd highly recommend this backpackers!9
P.Top place run by a top Aussie sheilah, deck with hot tub makes most of dramatic Queenstown scenery.
L.The accommodation is quite place not far to the queenstown center, all the staff are very friendly and nice, the room, the kitchen and bathroom are cleaned very often.
D.Dorms were nice, clean and had comfy beds, but bathrooms and kitchen were not great. Hostel was pretty quiet, but still the storage space in the kitchen was full, and was pretty messy despite apparently being cleaned for 1 hour a day. Bathrooms are pretty dated and small too. Considering the price as well, there is definitely better options for less in Queenstown.

H.My private room was next to a dorm, and the dorm beds were leaning on the walls and made a lot of noise whenever someone moved in them. Something to fix, otherwise great hostel.
C.It was my second stay at Black Sheep Queenstown and I'm planning my third! I was very impressed with the reception staff, especially (and I hope I have the names correct) Kayla who was very friendly and welcoming and Miriam who was super helpful. The hot tub is great so remember your togs! And town is literally 3 minutes walk away! Kitchen is well organised and clean. I've stayed in the double and in the twin rooms and, while the mattresses felt a little thin, overall it was a fun stay and great value for money.

Guessed where drinking in dorm room and bed mattress was not the best.

S.Stayed here for 4 nights over the weekend, and had a fantastic time. Great location, good facilities ( hot tub was amazing!) , really nice atmosphere, as there were a lot of long term people staying and they were all super friendly and eager to socialize plus had alot of recommendations. Fire place inside is a nice touch. Free bikes were great. A bit of noise at night from what I assumed was doors banging, but otherwise no faults at all, would stay again!
A.Stayed for 5 nights. Location was great - short walk to everything but far enough from the noise and crowds. Staff was great - friendly reception and someone was always cleaning bc guests are messy like that. FREE bike rentals!
The downsides were - the dorm room door was broken so it had to be lifted to properly shut; and only 1 of the 4 female showers had a door.
K.A wonderful close place to stay in Queenstown thanks to the staff at Blacksheep everything was handy great with the milk tea coffee and the customer’s are lovely too. If I ever come back I will stay with you again. Cheers.

D.Great hostel in QT. Staff was very friendly. Room was cozy and clean. Kitchen was nice. Was able to meet a bunch of great people here. Really enjoyed staying at this hostel. Also close to everything which is nice so that you can walk to town at night. Also ski resorts are only a shirt drive. Would recommend to any traveler.

M.Good hostel. The kitchen and the bathroom are small for the big number of people staying there. Also the fridge was not enough and the space for groceries was all engaged. But if you need something cheap for a couple of days, it should be fine the wifi was great and also de hot water was really good. Free movies on Wednesday and Sundays.
J.A very chill hostel with private rooms and shared facilities. Really enjoyed the communal kitchen and lounge. The location is perfect as it is just a few minutes walk to downtown. The luggage storage really helped with logistics. Only downside was the walls and ceiling were quite thin so be sure to bring ear plugs.
V.One of the best hostels that I lived in while I was in QT. Friendly staff. Of all, the rooms were spacious and clean. Bed arrangements where well planned and maintained. Would recommend fellow bag packers. PS: I just stayed one night and this was my personal point of view
A.Good value...but for a private room, getting placed under the common area and beside the smoking section kinda sucked. Also limited room in the kitchen during winter due to mtn staff living there...but all that said, it's really fine for the purpose of proximity and value. I didn't sleep well though 😔
M.The facilities were great! Everything was super clean and the hot tub and bikes (good quality but only 5 of them) were a really nice perk. Shame the hot tub closed at 9pm but it was always really hot! Reason for 3 stars is the atmosphere. As a solo traveller it was really tough to meet people, the hostel is big and spread out and there are no events organised (apart from a very antisocial movie night) - even a notice board with self organised that brings people together would be great. Also the 8.30pm alcohol curfew is a bit early, but kind of understandable.
P.Awesome atmosphere, friendly staff and comfortable pod beds. Kitchen is a social space any time of day. I enoyed using the hot tub. Close to the town centre! The layout is strange, all of the halls are outside so you go out and back inside to use the kitchen/toilets/reception area. Fine for me, might not be so fun if its very cold. The downside: limited reception, so if you lock yourself out of the room in the night youre in big trouble.
J.I believe it was Kayla and Mariana who were at the reception and they were both sooo bubbly and funny to chat with! Having lil events like the sausage sizzle on a Wednesday is a sweet idea that lead me to join some of the backpackers to the Silent Disco~
I think Mariana baked some banana muffins for us to enjoy (it's not terrible so no need to fear) :D

Parking was not so good but some how managed. Toilet shower facilities were average. Kitchen and bed was good.
S.Rooms were great with pod beds for privacy. Has a spacious kitchen and lounge area. However the bathrooms are not great could use a lot of work done to them. Staff are quite rude and snappy, and not too helpful when trying to book trips.

P.Great budget place to stay, well-equipped kitchen. I didn't get to try the hot tub or free bikes, but the fact they have these available is pretty cool. The free WiFi was slow and spotty at times.
S.This place is fine for a place to sleep for the night. we were in room 6 and the sun hits the wall in the afternoon and turns it into a sauna. We would stay on one side of the room because the other side was radiating so much heat it was uncomfortable. Showers were also ok, the water would flick between cold and hot at times.
T.Quiet location with a private car park for the guest. The staff member was friendly and respectful. The only disadvantage they have is that the female bathroom is outside and it is quite visible from the car park area which made me a little uncomfortable.
T.Everything you're looking for in a hostel. Clean and big kitchen, great common area, 5min walk to the center and the beds offer privacy with curtains. 8/10 would recommend.
P.Overall a good backpackers with an excellent spa, kitchen, common area and views. BUT given a 3/5 because the loudest door slamming at 3-5am for an entire week I've ever encountered, entire building shakes. If you don't like sleeping then it's a 4.
A.I stayed at the blacksheep backpacker for 4 weeks, I really enjoyed my time at this hostel. I will always remember this place, with a wonderful view! People working there are very friendly and helpful. Now, they are making some works, so it's going to be even better!
X.Good price, friendly staff. I booked before check the review. And when I saw the review many ppl give bad review. I was regret book here. But when I check in. Everything was nice. The room is tidy and staff very friendly. So I don't understand why so many bad reviews.

p.Good for a hostel, I sleep well, near the Center, Top for cyclist, ask for the Ski room!! Big Kitchen, facilities not the best. Everytime again.
N.Rooms are really nice and all beds have a curtain so you can get your privacy. Although does make it a little less social, but the common room is great!

Room wasn't ready when they gave me key and said it was ready and two of us that checked in came to a room that wasn't changed. They then apologised and had that covered! But definitely made up with staff and facilities!
J.Actually I've staied this hostel last October. but i made great experiences in Blacksheep. People were good and staffs were kind as well.
Location is also perfect. It's not far from Central of city to Blackship by walk. it would take only 10minutes.
I think i built a good relationship with staffs so they tried to help my trip in Queenstown. i enjoyed activities a lot. of course price was reasonable.
When i have chance to go to Queenstown I'd visit your hostel again.

M.Only stayed one night but the Swedish girl on the desk was great. However the website charges more then hostel world so just phone up with the hostel world price, I don't agree with this marketing.
F.I stayed for three nights in a shared dorm and it was a really great hostel! It has awesome views, friwndly staff, free popcorn and movies on sunday night, free rental bikes, nice common room.

P.Impossible to take a normal shower, as the water was either boiling or frozen. It was really cold in the cabin despite the heater. Staff not that nice, a bit rude.

I.Fantastic little backpackers that offers a lot more than expected. Double room was cosy and the bed was nice. For cheaper option couldn't go wrong at all.
S.Curtains, lights and powerpoints/usb at every bed. Good location, very short walk to town centre without the bustle of being on a main street. Free parking all around.
M.Fine if you want cheap and cheerful. Clean but mainly full of long term young seasonal workers. Not for families.

Pour moi c'est un backpacker parfait. très propre, très bien équipé. Ce n'est pas l'usine. J'y ai trouvé calme et intimité. Le lit est confortable, le rideau permet d'être tranquil et de laisser chacun vivre sa vie même si quelqu'un décide de dormir à 20h. Des prises dont une usb pour chacun. Laverie efficace. Espaces communs super agréables. Proche du centre et suffisamment éloigné pour être au calme. Rien à dire. C'est top.
