Restaurant Review: it was absolutely the best vegetarian dish I’ve ever had in New Zealand. Everything was just simple but so fresh and delicious. Local wine options on tap!!!! Beverage was mostly sourced locally. Love the concept of the business with having their own garden and bringing them straight to the table, also focusing on eco-friendliness and sustainability. Staff were lovely and helpful. Excellent interiors.
Thank you and keep up the great work!

The Sherwood is my happy place! The staff are super helpful and accommodating. It's not a 5 star hotel but it's perfect simple accommodation and has everything the need. The restaurant continues to be one of my favourite restaurants in New Zealand (and that's saying something because I am a huge foodie!). The twice cooked potatoes are worth a call out. Can't wait to come back already!

Such an awesome place. Much better then the big name hotels. Staff are attentive and service is impeccable. Would recommend it any day. Why haven’t I stayed here before!
L.
Restaurant review: we stopped by on the way back from a helicopter flight, 1.5 hours before our 6pm reservation to have a couple of drinks and to celebrate our engagement (which just took place). The team were so kind and accommodating to us, the ambience was perfect and the view stunning. We had such a wonderful time. The waiter recommended great dishes and the drinks were delicious! (Recommend the feijoa margarita)
Upon leaving the restaurant we were advised that a lovely couple at the table next to us had paid for our bill!!!?? We were absolutely shocked, but then again, how incredible are kiwis! Such a great experience that we will never forget! ❤️❤️

One of the best hotels in Queenstown! It offers everything you ever want - a room with a view, great interior and modern design, AMAZING fresh food, great bar/ restaurant ambience, delicious food.. yes I need to mention that again! :)
Thank you Sherwood hotel for the great service! We will surely come back.

We are regular customers of the restaurant, everything is amazing. Sophie is the best waitress ever, really helpful and she understands every single point of customer satisfaction. The food is superb, there is never something bad, all the dishes well finished using product from the garden. Keep up the good work!

We’ve had a group of ten for dinner and we had a wonderful time. Great atmosphere, amazing menu and everything tasted delicious. Drinks were great too. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place with a difference!

Came into the Sherwood restaurant, absolutely impeccable food. Couldn't fault a thing, very affordable and cute little setting. Lovely service by our waitress, very onto it and gave some great recommendations. Cannot wait to come back!

Went for dinner in the restaurant and we let them bring us a selection of sharing plates which was a great decision. Meal was top notch, one of the best we had while in Queenstown. Service was friendly but professional, attentive without being intrusive. My only criticism would be regarding the tall stools we were seated on. I didn't find them particularly comfortable and after a few drinks I was worried I might topple off!

Second time visitor and just as good if not better. Well priced, cool rooms, great food and drink, really friendly people, good location and easy to get to whichever mountain. Kids loved the in-room movie projector! Will be back

What a lifesaver of a resort! If you are interested in a healthy hippy vibe with local organic cuisine, you’re in the right place. Got a 90 minute massage from Camille (request her, she was amazing at deep tissue accupressure) and enjoyed the private sauna with SO, followed by a super healthy chicken/pescatarian meal (we did the prefix). Why didn’t I come here before?! Looking forward to coming weekly. Absolutely great value and excellent amenities.
We ran into our local organic farmer who delivers to our house weekly. They supplement the garden menu here (of course!) The ambience is smart farmer meets Anthropologie. Great date night spot did locals.
C.
We popped in for dinner with Sherwood. And instantly felt taken care of by the wonderful staff. Impeccable knowledge of the menu and onsite grown vege. We let them pick our courses and weren’t disappointed! A must for anyone visiting QT, well be back soon :)

This place is amazing! The room was clean, neat, cozy, and had a really unique aroma diffuser! The bathtub's huge too. Plus, all rooms have their own themes. Ours was built some time in 1940s. The staff were attentive and efficient. We will definitely choose to stay here again in the future. Thank you for such a lovely service. PS: there's no tv! But you don't need one, cause you'll be busy walking around city centre (so much to do!) or even enjoying the bonfires at the hotel restaurant area.
J.
If you have a car then the location is not a problem; otherwise it is pretty far from the town centre. The hotel is big on recycling which is nice. The room we got was connected to another and the walls were paper thin - if you have loud neighbours then good luck with your sleep. The bathroom was not remodelled so it’s dated but functional. No TV in the room but they have mini projectors that you can borrow from the reception but the reception is not 24 hours. Reception service was mediocre but we’re only here for one night so whatever. Parking can be difficult when the hotel is busy. Since there are a lot of hotel options in Queenstown, I’m not sure I’d go back again.

Superb views and decor of the room. Our room had a mountain view and was by the side of a little waterfall within the property. It was incredibly relaxing and quiet. The rooms were cleaned very well daily. The bathroom however looked a little outdated and did not match the room itself. The bathroom had some dead bugs on the ceiling by the corners. The room cleaners accidentally left our bedroom door open on one day after their cleaning. We were pretty scared to come back to our room about 10 hours later to see that the door was open the entire day. Nothing was stolen from our room or luggage. We reported this incident to the concierge who assured us appropriate measure would be taken for this to not happen again. Other than this incident, great stay.
J.
We came out of the mountains completely exhausted and arrived late on Easter Sunday.
What a delight to find warm clean beds for a good night's sleep and plenty of hot water for us to wash off the mountain gravel and clean skinned knees, blistered heels and worn knuckles.
We had breakfast in the main restaurant. I had the Eggs Benedict variant and I loved it. The extra rugged bread was full of delicious seeds. Yum! the coffee was so good I think we had a second cup.
I left a garment behind in the room and the staff contacted us to let us know they had it and suggested shipping options for getting it back to me or alternatively donating it to a local Queenstown charity. When there was a delay getting it shipped they explained who they were working with so I could follow up with them. The item eventually found its way home to me.

We visited Sherwood restaurant last Friday, it was easily the best meal we had in QT, the vibe is so cool, nice music playing not too loud or intense just creates a warm ambiance along with the open fire keeping us warm. the waitress was lovely and attentive, the food was 10/10! We had the whole flat fish with kelp butter it was salty but soooo delicious served with sweet little spring leeks, the hake croquettes and the chicken oyster skewers were perfect, we finished with the oat milk and rhubarb desert with wood sorrel granita, my Mum said this was the nicest desert she's ever eaten, refreshing, creamy, such a beautiful balance of flavours, you'll have to try it for yourself!
M.
I love that Sherwood is contributing to less waste, less plastic. The view from our room is amazing. They also have sauna free for guests. Just make sure you book it as it only holds up to 4persons at one time. If you like nightlife, they have live events almost every night at the lounge area in front of reception. Staff was friendly. The restaurant food was pretty bomb.
M.
I love it here. The beds are so comfy, the staff are awesome, great breakfast. Really good coffee. The yoga is fun and the lake views are really nice. Yeah it’s simple and the bathrooms a bit out dated, but it’s all part of its charm. It’s trendy, hipster cool. They got it right.
A.
Nice room, really nice and helpful staff. It's about a 10 minute bus ride from town (2 bucks each way). All about sustainability and reducing harm to the environment. No aircon, which took me by surprise however the room was really cool. So no complaints! Definitely worth staying at, and saving money by not staying so central!
R.
The Sherwood is an amazing place to stay. From the fantastic rooms, the sustainability ethos and exceptional food and service, this is the place to stay in Queenstown!
L.
This place is by far the best accommodation in Queenstown. It is extremely well priced. The rooms are incredible with an exquisite homely feeling and the restaurant is quite possibly the best food I’ve ever eaten. The Paua pasta is to die for . I am tempted to move to Queenstown and live at the Sherwood forever.
V.
Hipster hotel, with a focus on sustainability. Community vibe, relaxed setting. Sauna, rooms were incredible and the dining room / bar has a cool ambience. Breakfast was fantastic with lovely views of the lake and mountain. Peaceful stay. We decided to stay in the hotel bar/ dining room instead of going into town a couple of nights because of how great it was!
P.
Such a relaxing place to stay, our room was so beautiful to walk into. Relaxing music playing when you arrive also the gorgeous aromatherapy in the room, just sets the mood. The coffee and tea selection is lovely, even fresh milk is supplied, when you check in.
We tried the restaurant, what an amazing place. I tried the chicken thighs and had shared a mashed potato side with my hubby. Wow those flavours were on another level 🥰🥰🥰
K.
After reading pages and pages of reviews I was very apprehensive to stay at Sherwood but decided to because of the price. We were pleasantly surprised. The service is fabulous - everyone is super friendly and helpful. They layout of the hotel is like a drive-in motel and the rooms still have a motel style. They did a good job with the refurbishment but some extra insulation would have been great... it was cold. Also, the walls are paper thin, it sounds like the airport is right outside your door. The bathrooms also leave much to be desired, but they're good enough. We got a kick out of how hipster it was but there's nothing wrong with that! The bed was SOOO comfy wow. That being said a heating pad would have been amazing, I was barely kept warm by my furnace-like boyfriend. The restaurant is fantastic - make sure you go. All in all we would return and recommend it to our "young" friends, but not to our parents etc. Great value for our money and the comfy bed and fab restaurant make up for the chill and noise.
J.
Loved, loved, loved this hotel!
Things to note:
- There aren't TV's - so if you are reliant on a TV for your vacation, I would look elsewhere.
- The ping pong, sauna, and camp fires were really nice touches! We enjoyed having a glass of wine while doing these activities. They also have a bike hire- which my husband did and biked to downtown and a nearby brewery!
- Beds are super comfy and the kitchenette in our room was great to make breakfast. The front desk will give you milk every morning if you request it.
Other notes:
We didn't have any issues with parking.
We ate at the restaurant but didn't love it. It seemed very pricey for the amount of food you received.
M.
Room is big and spacious. They have a strong recycling culture and a good attitude towards living a responsible life whilst at the hotel.
The room it's self has a terrible shower. At first sight you think it looks amazing, but when you come to use it it becomes apparent the pressure is low and getting the temperature right is a pain. And hopefully no one else near by wants to use the water at the same time.
Parking is a bit confusing. There's a grey pebble parking place at the top of the hill, behind the hotel, but it's not that obvious there are spaces outside the rooms themselves. The spaces are also unallocated and effectively double booked due to there being two rooms per bay.
The reception area was a bit awkward to find also as it's quite hidden away.
Other than that it's a really nice place to stay. The room is very pleasant (king standard)
M.
Cozy place, decent staff, the male receptionist was awesome. The rooms are similar to a cabin, all the materials are environmental friendly which is OK. The shuttle service is limited and cabs to town cost $20-30 each way which adds up. Some rooms have no TV, and the ones that do have limited channels (3-4), not a huge deal, but I like to watch a bit before bed which wasn't really an option here.
Some rooms had a great view of the lake/ mountain.
C.
Incredible dining experience.
We had an amazing group dinner here where we shared a range of plates from the menu. We couldn’t decide what to order as it all looked amazing so we asked the waitress to order us a selection. When the food arrived we were blown away by plate after plate of beautifully presented and deliciously crafted food. All the food was simply prepared to bring out the best of the ingredient.
Stand out dishes where the whole lemon sole, the baby carrots and the caramel tart.
Highly recommend this place for a super delicious and reasonably priced dining experience.

Lets start with the negatives...
For this price I expect the communication to be better on booking. It was a struggle to try and book dinner (no confirmations), to book massages (which never happened due to an event taking place), and to gain info around our check-in in general. None of this stopped us from placing our bookings, but it was hard work and we didn't feel anyone was that interested to follow us up and give us piece of mind around our bookings.
The room itself is stylish as you see online. We had a feeling that it may be more style over substance, but this was not the case. It was a generous size with a really nice view. The bathroom was dimly lit with no light in the shower space which was a little tough for doing hair, shaving, etc...
The last problem was that a two-day conference was happening in a lot of the common spaces which effected our stay. This was not communicated to us, and meant that we didn't get the full value of the space. This wasn't acknowledged in anyway, which I found a little disappointing.
Now the positives...
This is a beautiful place. We could have spent a lot longer here. Relaxing, well situated, beautifully furnished, and it has a really nice vibe to it.
The eco-credentials are as good as you could expect. From recycling, to solar, to carbon-foot print, to water usage, this place is as conscientious as you can get without being over the top or extreme. A nice balance is struck and we found it of high value on this front.
The dinner.... oh my god... each dish was beautifully presented, but the flavours were even better. This was matched by a welcoming and service-orientated staff that made us feel super-comfortable and waited on us with humour and attention. We loved it and it was a real highlight. the menu was very well priced for the level of dining making it even better. The wines we tried were beautiful too. A nice mix of local and global gave us plenty to explore and enjoy.
The live music. We stumbled upon a great night out as The Fleetwoods (a Fleetwood Mac tribute band) rocked the place down. What we didn't realise was that The Sherwood is the place to be on a Saturday night for over 35's in Queenstown. Bring it on! We danced, had fun with some locals, and drank too much. It was great fun, and we only had a short stumble home.
The breakfast was nice with plenty of options and the lunch menu also looked great.
The surroundings are lovely with a nice view over the kitchen garden being my fave.
After a rocky little start through the reservation stages, this place ended up being a cracker and we would come back for more next time around.
J.
Had a great relaxed dinner fo 10 sharing plates. Lovely food and rustic atmosphere. Excellent small but well thought out wine list with many natural wines. Saw some quirky music after dinner in the drying room.
A.
Have been to this place for community seminars and workshop several times. My family stayed here when they visited me in Queenstown and very satisfied with the room. Sherwood restaurant is super nice too. It's stylish, cozy, and offering great food especially!
M.
An environmental conscious place to stay with complimentary sauna and games. Nice environment and great views. Slightly disappointed when we booked family apartment and given a one-bedroom apartment. But the staff was kind enough to offer an upgrade to 2-bedroom apartment. Prob solved.
P.
I stayed at Sherwood Queenstown for 3 nights. The stay was very comfortable. I got a room facing the Lake Wakatipu which made the view incredible. Loved all the amenities like Sauna, breakfast, Table Tennis, etc. The view around their organic farm is fantastic. All the tours that we went on had Sherwood on their list of pick up hotels so that was good. Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommended.
Had dinner in Sherwood restaurant. It was like a feast. The cost to quality & quantity ratio is perfect. It isn’t too pricey but the taste is very good. They have a wide variety of alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. The staff is friendly & the view from the restaurant is good. Breakfast that I had here was equally nice.
T.
Really fun hotel. Super sustainable in both philosophy and operations. Great food and drink. Not overpriced in any way. Would recommend.
D.
I was a bit dubious of the fact they had no Televisions in the rooms. But I must say I really enjoyed my time here. The location was great, the server that we had was really knowledgable about the local wines. All in all, had a great stay. 2.5% surcharge on credit cards that was not mentioned during booking.
M.
We stayed at Sherwood for 4 nights. It is a pretty nice place to stay but the distance from the city makes it impractical to walk. Fortunately, there is a bus that comes regularly. Wednesdays they host a small farmer's market where you can buy things like fresh eggs, wine, avocados, and bread. The kitchens are stocked with the bare essentials. Our frying pan was pretty terrible but functional. This is the first apartment hotel that I have had to wash my own dishes which was odd. All together I would recommend. It is far enough from downtown that the nights are quiet. The beds are very comfortable.
D.
Old motel slowly being modernised in a sustainable and trendy manner. The rooms are basic, particularly the bathrooms but communal areas such as the bar, restaurant, courtyard are all beautifully done. Onsite veggie patch is a nice feature too.
J.
This review is for the restaurant. Ate here last night. This place is simply stunning. Floor to ceiling windows overlook rolling hills of plants and trees. We’re lucky to be here in November, so we enjoyed the scenery and sunset throughout our dinner. The restaurant itself is cozy, and the staff were all very attentive, informed, and friendly. My husband and I shared about 8 dishes, and everything was delicious. There are many restaurants in Queenstown, and our schedule is booked up, but we will certainly try to visit here again over the next few days.
J.
Great room with full amenities. Loved the sustainable vibe, comfort and relaxing feel. Favourite accommodation thus far whilst travelling through NZ.
L.
Nice boutique hotel in a good location about a 10 minute drive into central Queenstown. Rooms were comfy and had some nice touches like the little bit of homemade jam for Christmas!
Rooms were expensive, but no more than others in the area and we enjoyed our 3 nights.
Minor feedback: would be nice to have netting over the balcony doors without having to use curtains for privacy!
K.
I'm a traveller on a budget and I decided my last couple days I would splash out on a nice place. And I'm glad it was here. The emphasis on sustainable development and food is great. My room was comfortable and the bed was a cloud. The grounds are lovely. I'd come back in a snap. And if you're carless, there's a bus stop!
B.
A bit pricy for a courtyard facing room compared to other lake front properties that we had stayed with . The bathroom may be a bit slippery when wet . Else everything was nice and I especially liked the zero waste concept and the welcome drinks .
J.
It is a lovely hotel that has had a ton of recent updates. Most are nice and add to guest comfort but others lack substance. For example, I wouldn't enjoy staying here on the winter given the metal benches as a primary fitting are - too cold. Also, despite the room having been updated the bathroom is still dated. And you're not in Queenstown proper so you are something of a captive audience. And, unfortunately, the walls are thin and hearing your neighbors cough is disconcerting. Having said all that the room is comfortable with plenty of light. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. And the restaurant is pretty good with reasonable prices for Queenstown.
A.
The best breakfast waffles in the world. Lovely community events. You can tell there is a real focus on sustainability here, they have their own veggie garden, offer oat milk, source local ingredients, support local charities and organisations etc. The staff are all super friendly and go out of their way to give you a smooth experience.
H.
Went for lunch and we were a bit early for the buffet (and had to leave for a flight). The staff were amazing and made us some delicious food even though it was too early. Fantastic people, great food and awesome atmosphere. Thank you! We’ll be back.
G.
It was a bit different stay in a good way. Atmosphere is really something! Minimalistic interior with a rustic touch. No tv - and 10 points for that;), nice food (made from local products, most of it Sherwood grow by themselves in a garden close by). During a breakfast I could make myself a glass of juice of fruits and veggies of my choice which was just a small thing but it made me really happy as I like fresh juice in the morning. Not a fancy place but they made it special, with a style and character.
M.
Lovely place to stay.
Great views over the lake. Nice rooms, good restaurant. Make sure you have a walk around the gardens. I've never seen so many bubble bees in one place.
Bike tracks looks fun, but even though the hotel has bikes for hire, you can't use these on the trail as you need a soft tail mountain bike.
Z.
Everything about this hotel and restaurant is superb.
The restaurant is exquisit and serves the most delectable food foraged from the forest and their garden. Very modern, yet warming food.
The rooms are lovely and well designed with wonderful smelling shampoo and conditioner.
This was by far our favorite hotel and restaurant in Queenstown.
C.
Loved this hotel. Very unique vibe, absolutely beautiful restaurant and bar. We walked to town- the walk along the water was really nice, a flower lined bike path the whole way. The yoga studio and coffee alone were with worth the stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. Great location for driving to local hikes, close to the airport too.
N.
Wonderful ambience, Wooden, rugged looks, lit fires ( just outside the restaurant, much needed though because of the chill at that particular time of the night )
Although it was beyond their serving time, they obliged us with dinner for five people & followed the instructions clearly for a certain vegan type of meal for my wife. Excellent !
Their portions were also decent sized & we all had a hearty dinner ! 👍
R.
Second time I've stayed here.
Lovely atmosphere, love the space the vibes and the rooms.
The staff in the brunch room is so polite, friendly and lovely, really makes you feel welcome!
Thank you
A.
We came to the restaurant for our last dinner in NZ. We've had a lot of fine dining and a lot fast food so maybe that's why the super fresh, simple and unprocessed food at Sherwood was my favourite of the trip.
Everything just tastes so fresh and wholesome, full of natural flavour. Often eating out leaves me feeling a bit lethargic and gross especially if the food was rich, but this was the opposite. Had this not been our last night in Queenstown I would have happily cancelled other reservations to come back and try their other dishes.
On top of the great food, the view was beautiful and interior decor tasteful. Service is excellent. They also have house bottled wines from local vineyards and a fun chart to explain it all.
A.
Good accommodations, great view. It does feel hipster-ish and a little more lighting in the room would be great. Music was ok in the room when we arrived, a very nice touch. Customer service was good, but didn't get the commentary milk as started in the welcome materials. I didn't ask for it either since i didn't have time to drink tea. The tub was huge and needed after some long days. The reason for a minus star is the poor room lighting and fluctuating water temperature. For the shower, it would go cold and scalding hot without touching the knob. I thought maybe it was because other residents flushing toilets, but I don't think so as I took showers at various times of day, the latest at 11pm. So be careful when showing to not burn yourself.
R.
The Sherwood makes me feel amazing and relaxed! Everything is well thought out and considered. The service is personal, real, friendly and honest. The beds are comfy. The food is incredible!! the drinks are delicious! the fire pit is smoky and warm. My boots dried out in the drying room. the little stereo in our room relaxed my son to sleep. The art is rad. The vegi garden grows the vegetables you eat in the restaurant (how rad). The leather and timber chairs in the rooms are gorgeous. I just f__ckin love this place! thanks for creating one of the most special and thoughtful hotels in the world. Stay here, it’s ace!!
J.
Out of the world food. Most reasonable super fine dining restaurant in Queenstown. Nailed it guys. Your chefs are absolutely amazing. Exquisite cuisine. Venison shank, divine, short rib delicious. Mussels large and juicy. Locals favourite.
A.
Lovely hotel. Beautiful scenic views. Close proximity to the city. Restaurant meals can be a bit pricey. The rooms (at least the ones in Coronet) don't have a phone or tv. Hotel is quite environmentally friendly.
t.
Friendly and pleasant staff. The bed was the best we had so far in New Zealand. The hotel is very modern and has a hipster-'ish' style that makes it a fun experience in itself. I highly recomend this hotel to anyone who might consider it.
G.
Really good stay. I recommend it. I loved the room and the restaurant. We had a superior room upstairs in the coronet section. We had a view of the lake. I think the place is really good value and offers a great alternative to standard hotels in Queenstown
S.
Nice play to stay even simple country concept. helpful housekeeping, friendly staffs, spacious room even no TV inside but I love the great lake scenery, especially from the mini garden behind the hotel! Wifi is good, so not so boring even without a TV in the room. 4 nights I stay there...I love the peaceful atmosphere in Sherwood.
G.
The staffs are friendly and nice. The veggie is came from their own garden. It is fresh. The meals are excellent and we really enjoy the cocktails there. Will come again when we visit Queenstown next time.
G.
Stayed in the premium two-bedroom apartment with Great Lake view. Clean, eco-friendly hotel with a restaurant and bar on-site. We took out lunch from the restaurant which was generous in size and yummy especially the ribs 😋 Beautiful surroundings with own vege garden. Our room unfortunately got very hot at night. No air-conditioning but a fan was provided. However due to lack of electrical sockets in the room, fan was set up bedside which was awkward and not practical
J.
Great vibe and customer service. The complimentary bread was a nice. Unfortunately for the price the food didnt meet the equal standard that I would expect, the lamb was chewy and you get a flat knife to struggle and cut through it. See in the pork belly picture, the pork belly was over cooked underneath aswell making it difficult to cut through with the flat knife. Carrots and squid was delicious though. Presentation was on point.
b.
Where to begin? The best hotel I stayed in during the course of my three week holiday. Can't believe it's only 3 stars.
My room was very comfortable with incredible view over lake Wakatipu.
There is even a sauna you can book here for your own private use.
Staff are friendly and helpful and professional without the stuffy formality of some places.
The ethics of sustainability runs throughout the hotel. Upcycling where possible to treeless tissues and smartbum paper! Guests are encouraged to recycle any waste in their rooms. This does not detract from the overall style, quality and ambience of the place.
The restaurant is well priced and delivers excellent food. They have their own kitchen garden here that supplies the kitchen.
Bus service into main town on the opposite side of the road every 15 mins.
Stay here it is SO relaxing!
S.
On paper, the refit instead of renovation with an emphasis on minimising waste and sustainable living sounds lovely.
And indeed the quirky rooms at first glance would have instagrammers fighting over their selfie sticks to stay here. It looks and feels like a cool community, until you step inside the restaurant.
Pricing does not match the rustic environment or the quality of food on offer. Very small inconsistently cooked beef main $34 required additional purchase of vegetables to sustain even the smallest appetite. Slow service from kitchen and high pressure wait staff pushing pricey alcohol also made for an uncomfortable dining experience.
Gave it a second chance at breakfast. Again quite pricey for what was on offer and wait staff lacked genuine warmth or sense of community.
Summary: Accommodation Yes. Restaurant No.
m.
Clean, tidy. Friendly staff. Nice bar and restaurant. Not comfortable. Not a couch, sofa or comfortable chair anywhere and just bar stools or bench seats with hard backrests in the restaurant. Needs cushions. Such a shame as its a beautiful spot. Would have spent more time in the bar with a comfy chair or a couch by the fire. Leaving feeling exhausted and sore.
c.
Quite a hip and trendy place to stay. Great access to Queenstown and wonderful amenities. I appreciate a place that takes sustainability and healthy living seriously. Heaps of fun activities available, including classes in arts and crafts.
The filled-in-pool-turned-campground is a very fun addition and really makes this retro setting feel intentional.
A.
5 stars! I had the most amazing stay at Sherwood Queenstown, this hotel has everything you could ask for. Well designed rooms (reminds me of Ace Hotel), super friendly staff, yoga classes, great food and even live music. I extended my stay and hope to come back soon. This motel from the 80's have been redesigned into a great eco-friendly boutique hotel. A short drive outside of Queenstown (a car is recommended). Beautiful location and very calm.
C.
Sherwood is one of the exquisite hotels around Queenstown. It provides cozy homely facilities to make one feel at home. I liked their little radio that is tuned to a station playing peppy numbers and provides relaxation to one's mind, especially if they've just checked in after a long drive. Recommended hotel.
S.
Stunning facilities, spacious rooms. Nice location to get out of the hustle and bustle of Queenstown central. Would recommend walking to town via the lake side track, accessible directly over the main road
R.
Great buffet breakfast with good range and an emphasis on free-range, organic and home-made. Chick pea based baked beans a real treat. Nice fit out in bar / restaurant and rooms. Prices reasonable for the location
S.
Not too bad. I could write an incredibly detailed review of this place as there is lots to talk about! The execution could do with a bit more polish. The rooms are nicely (re)decorated but a few touches missing to make it stand-out amazing. Plastic crates for what exactly? Storage. Made it feel a hit cheap. The bathrooms are sorely lacking, they need to spend a lot more effort bring them up to even basic 4* standard. Staff were nice enough but seemed a little dim and unattentive some of the times. The restaurant was good for dinner but avoid the overpriced buffet breakfast. Would I stay here again? Probably, as there is nothing else really comparable in the location. Beggers can't be choosers.
R.
We went to the restaurant. It was very dark. My beef bavette was great. Many other dishes were unexpectedly wet: the market fish and the sorbet both were served over a whole bowl of liquid. The members of the party who ate the vegetarian dish found it disappointingly bland.
B.
Fantastic meal @ Sherwood! Love the concept, style and views from the restaurant. Casual vibes and then this incredible food starts rolling out (we almost ordered everything on the menu...). Great service and everything was delicious! Stand out tartare!
C.
Came here for food, lovely spot! Service was brill and selection of food and beverages would more than suffice anybodys thirst or hunger. Chicken oysters skewers were majestic. Wagyu tongue went down a treat and the twice cooked potatoes are next level. Aurora beer, and mischievous nice beers if your into your iPas, Apas. Even accomateded for my broken foot by offering me a stool to keep it elevated. Cant fault anything. Give it a go!
P.
This place has a very cool fit out and vibe. A nice selection of craft beer on tap and an extensive list of other drinks. Extremely comfortable environment for a cosy afternoon wine.
T.
I absolutely loved the concept of this place. Everything is solar-paneled, uses recycled goods, and makes you feel good about reducing your carbon foot print. I am an avid second hand store junkie, a minimalist, and consider myself an urban hippie. This place is an eco-friendly paradise. The staff was incredible, and described to us the concept of these apartments/rooms perfectly. The decor in our room was hipster and fun, with a rustic charm that you don't see many places. Everything had the feel of the American store Anthropologie with southwestern patterns, wool accents, and homemade art. We had a kitchen fully stocked with delicious snacks and fresh milk in a glass bottle. There's a garden on site where they grow all the veggies for the restaurant and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever had. It was an organic, all natural, homemade feast including cured meats, cheese, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, and an assortment of jams. The cost was a little high, but worth every penny. It seems that most food in NZ is expensive, but usually fresh and healthier than the typical American restaurant. The views outside our window were absolutely gorgeous because the property overlooks a lake and mountains can be seen in every direction. It was a peaceful, natural, and inspiring hotel experience.
D.
Only went to the restaurant. The two starters we had were amazing, duck liver parfait and the asparagus with smoked cream cheese. That set the bar super high. Then the wait for mains took a while, probably 40 minutes, with not many others in the place. The pork belly and fish was ok. Side of carrots with goat cheese was good, and also the courgettes. Desserts were disappointing, should have given them a miss.

Sherwood Restaurant
We enjoyed a family dinner for 3 last night. The ambiance is warm, dimly lit and inviting. The service - quite personal, friendly, and very relaxed, almost too relaxed. Our waiter explains the menu quite thoroughly, and helpfully suggests how we might like to mix things up in order to enjoy the variety on offer, without over-ordering. And he was pretty spot on.
The menu changes with the seasons, so what you might see on Zomato or Google doesn’t currently match, and the website dinner menu is also out of date. Our meal included the blue cod wings entree($12), BBQ half chicken($29), BBQ lamb rump($35), with (rather expensive/smallish serve) sides of wholegrain pasta($15), fermented cabbage and fennel slaw($14), charred broccoli($10), and twice cooked potatoes($7). Everything tasted really great. The accompanying sauces were well matched, and things were very fresh and full of flavour - evidence of fresh produce grown on the premises, as the short seasons permit. The drinks menu is cleverly done, and needs a little explaining (best done by the staff). We had some Mr Yakimoto beer ($10), Hellatau cider ($10), and glasses of the Quarry Reef bubbles ($15). All up, it cost $217 for 3 of us, which is a little on the steep side perhaps, but you can’t complain about the taste of the food, and like I said, the service was really good overall.

We always have a great experience at Sherwood, whether it's just stopping by for coffees or a lovely dinner out, it's stellar. Their family feast option is a wonderful option for midweek and their local kids programs always delight our son. Thoroughly recommended!
M.
Love the eco-update they have done to the place - cork walls, thick old military blankets for curtains, old metal furniture that has been upcycled for room desks. Only thing is they could have added some good underlay under the carpet - solid concrete right there under the carpet and its hard. Stayed in two rooms - one bedroom with mountain views and studio with lake view. Loved both. Came in to soft music playing in each and porta-cot all set up and good to go. The sauna is awesome. Lovely ambience in the bar/restaurant. Didn't eat there, but heard mixed reviews from locals (sometimes great, sometimes they just run out of food). Regular live music here too which is very cool. Service was serviceable - nothing special or even particularly friendly.
M.
Beautiful setting. Really enjoyed the table tennis and other games on offer. Great spread at the breakfast buffet. Lovely touches in the rooms, like crystals and tips on how to relax and be present in the moment.
S.
Stayed here on our last night in Queenstown. Was a nice relaxing spot out of the city centre. Someone had incredible vision turning this place in to the unique accommodation that is today. The staff were polite and professional, the only downfall was the food. Highly recommend the coconut chai tea and a game of table tennis if it rains during your stay.
L.
It's like an old motel converted into a modern retreat, small features different to other hotels, super comfortable rooms, great bar, great restaurant... The breakfast was a little steep but had everything yiu can think of to get you up. Between airport and town, with no car we replied on buses which are regular enough and only $2 a trip or walking 45mins.
B.
Omg. Such a different and quirky style of hotel, and now my favourite style for sure. I love the homely and natural wellness vibe they have designed into even the smallest detail. From crystals and weavings on the tables, to cork covered walls, to background shaman music playing, this is a 6 stars from me! In most hotels I don't feel comfy and relaxed, especially if they are fancy, but Sherwood has a humble homely welcoming vibe which I won't forget.
m.
Was here for a long weekend for a wedding. Chose this place because of its eco-friendly with solar power organic food etc. The rooms were nice and cosy and warm but had a nice old school feel with some original 70s style bathroomware. They have a really nice bar restaurant area. Got the full cooked breakfast buffet but very disappointed that the food was not hot this needs addressing. But some of the continental parts were amazing with homemade jams peanut butter and other spreads this saved the breakfast . Over all this is a great place for a 3star
N.
The rooms are really nice and cozy, with a wellbeing feel to the whole place. Our room had no TV, and the WiFi was really bad. The in-house restaurant is nice, but kind of pricey.
B.
Really amazing what they've done with the place - a cleverly revamped 1985 motel - interesting decor - lots of clever touches - very relaxing and cozy - great service - world class restaurant plus local music venue - sauna and yoga. The different wings of Sherwood (seperate room blocks) offer quite varying types of room. But all good. Unique.
A.
Amazing stay! Perfect location just outside of Queenstown city centre and would be a first pick anytime we revisit NZ. Hotel/Bar/Restaurantstaff are all friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is unreal! Love the sustainable, eco and Be Here Now initiative of the place, grounds you back to earth!
S.
Our go-to for accomodation, food and cocktails!! The staff and the Sherwood are incredible. So great we even celebrated our wedding here. Thanks so much Sherwood, you will always be our favourite!!
W.
One of the best hotels we've stayed in NZ. Lovely lake view, 5GB data, free private Sauna in the main lobby but do note that there's no TV in the room but then again with 5GB data you can watch lots of shows online already. Definitely recommend this hotel!
A.
Good views but not within walking distance of the town centre. No TV however the wifi is excellent! Check in (3 pm) could be earlier. Beds are very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. All in all a good stay.
T.
I went to the Sherwood specifically for the nitty gritty night they do on the first Friday of every month and had a fantastic time. Dancing with my friends to great musical classics from 50’s, 60’s Motown, funk, and northern soul. We enjoyed a bite to eat before and the food was fantastic. Would highly recommend this night to everyone who fancies a good old boogie to great music with friends.
F.
Beautiful hotel with great views and food. This hotel has strong eco friendly ethic and we stayed next door to Benedict Cumberbatch when he was filming In Queenstown for the Netflix series the Power of the Dog. They have a mini farm that can be visited !
A.
Great food, cool relaxed atmosphere and great location. No A/C on the rooms makes it very complicated on hot days, ended up avoiding the room during the day. Also not great for privacy as the front of the room is all glass.
G.
The most beautiful meal we have enjoyed in Queenstown. We loved that everything was local, whole and delicious. Kenny provided a wonderful table service with excellent knowledge on the foods and drinks available. We know this will become our favourite regular place to visit!
S.
Great place to stay and nice view. The room was clean, tidy and very comfy at that price from online deal. The staff were friendly and the lady at reception was very helpful in adjusting us room with convenience.
k.
What a pleasant surprise our stay at Sherwood was! Excellent customer service, high quality food and service at the onsite restaurant, rooms were clean and stylish and best of all they use environmentally friendly products and practices. Highly recommended.
L.
Loved it, simple but stylish rooms. The Sherwood has a great atmosphere, cosy and warm. Yoga, sauna, restaurant, good healthy food and an alternative feel. I would suggest an upstairs room. Loved it will definitely be back
F.
We enjoyed the upcycling and eco vibe of this hotel- quirky little places to explore all over the property i.e. restaurant garden, teepee and bike track. Good restaurant too- worth a visit! Above average minibar items and you can (if you choose) buy nearly all of the quality items in their rooms. We had a well equipped kitchen too which was a bonus (premium queen studio). Lost a star for the light streaming into our room from the back door all through the night and privacy limitations with people easily being able to walk in front of our accomodation (near small balcony looking out to the lake).
H.
Sherwood is somewhere that we will make sure to book every time we visit QT. Sustainable and thoughtful conversion of an old motor inn to what is now an enduring, unique and family friendly spot for accommodation in QT. The restaurant and bar are wonderful with excellent food and service that uses produce grown in the gardens on site. There were workshops and talks being held during our stay and it was awesome to see a flourishing community that has formed at Sherwood. Beautiful view of The Remarkables, and far enough out of town but still close enough to hop on a bus or drive to city center in under 10 minutes. I loved the choices in the mini bar all supporting local wine and chocolate makers and the guestbooks that educated us about the different elements in the room that were restored or added to enhance the overall sustainability of the hotel, for e.g. ex-military blankets upcycled into blockout curtains in the rooms. So simple and clever. Bravo Sherwood. A well considered and well looked after lodge that we will be telling all of our family and friends about. see you when we return to QT soon.
P.
Unique music and restaurant venue for Queenstown. Sherwood has a great ambiance and a bit of funk to it. They consistently get good live music, the food menu is simple but good and can be matched with interesting organic and naturally made wines. Well worth a visit.
B.
Great friendly staff. Rooms were awesome and not your typical motel style suite. Had an awesome view of the lake and mountains. Can't wait to go back there.
a.
Fabulous service, 🍷 wine is to die for & OMG Chef, the food is exquisite 👌👏
Menu changes depending upon the seasonal vegetables
Gotta try this place out.
Thanks to those of you that made our evening one to remember.
V.
Whilst we didn't stay here, this place was recommended for good single origin coffee (hard to come by in Queenstown but needed to be sought from us Melbournians). The staff learnt how to make the gold filter coffee when we requested it, and did a great job! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and view!
H.
Great place and location to stay. Very helpful staffs and I'm naming especially Will and Tamara who went above and beyond as our flight was potentially being cancelled due to weather... held our rooms until we receive further notice from the airline. Highly recommended!
B.
The whole Sherwood complex is great and the consistency in the hotel's values, and it's aesthetic, from the rooms to the restaurant is what sets it apart. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Qtn.
K.
Very homely ...well maintained .. loved the room ... Welcomed with soothing music in the room .. (Dec 2019) restaurant food breakfast variety can be made more inclusive and elaborate ! Otherwise a nice place .
E.
Great hotel, walking into the room I instantly felt relaxed with the mello music playing and the mood lighting. The staff were very friendly and amount the 100's of guests remembered me when I checked out commenting on some information we discussed the day before. I have stayed in many motels/hotels and was really impressed. Some of my friends who we're staying at more upper class (well perceived upper class) Hotels commented to me they wished they had booked the same place as me. Warning - there are no TVs in the rooms but they have a fantastic internet radio that sounds amazing (you can stream Spotify if you want) and the internet is super fast so like most travellers you will have no problems streaming Netflix etc with the 5gb of data a day you get. Sherwood gets a big thumbs up 👍 from this guy.
R.
Good for people without defendants. We had a 15month old with us and there were no microwaves on the property to heat milk. The kitchen tap was leaking which was annoying, there are no tvs in the room and yes if you need anything please make your way to the reception as there is no room service. You would expect more from a 4 star..
Definitely the restaurant was the highlight.
A.
So we arrived on a very cold day and were checked-in by Juan. Nice enough fella but slightly odd to tell me that you have something special for me and proceed to hand me half a small bottle of milk?
Anyway, we are given our room "key" (not the most secure option) and a map and told where to find our room.
No offer of assistance with our bags etc.?
We found our room quirky and eco friendly with some welcoming music and heating on, which was much appreciated.
I definitely appreciate what they're trying to achieve from an environmental perspective too.
We had queen bunk beds and they were actually really comfortable and nice to sleep on.
When I booked the hotel it showed that the particular room I chose had 2 comfy chairs for lounging, which I needed with a bad back at the end of a day exploring Queenstown.
The chairs were not in the room and when trying to relax, read etc. the only option we had was to sit on a hard kitchen dining chair or lay flat in our bottom bunk...not comfortable or ideal.
I asked for a comfy chair and Juan gave me some sheepskin rugs to help, bless him, but no comfy chair...because the Manager wasn't there to ask her.
Finally, after 4 days, and a chronically aching back, I negotiated with Fakundo to take a chair from Reception.
Juan & Fakundo seemed to do their best but all in all, sloppy guest service in general...sorry guys.
Housekeeping did a lovely job though, even folding my little ones Pyjamas and putting them on the end of the bed one day.
The thing that really let our room down though was the bathroom. The vanity was so low it seemed to have been designed for little children...even my 9 year old asked why it was so low? So if you have a bad back, knee, ankle etc. it would kill you brushing your teeth.
And the shower...OMG...it was awful!
I started showering at 11pm after a couple of days there as no matter how hard I tried there was no regulating it! It'd go from freezing my butt to burning my butt without me touching it...even at 11pm!
As if that isn't bad enough the "hobbit styled" bathroom has the narrowest shower over bath I've ever been in.
The shower curtain was like cling wrap! Every time we'd wash our bodies the shower curtain would stick to your body again and get soap all over it so when you rinsed off it'd stick to you and soap you up again, so you'd rinse off again and repeat this process several times...because the shower head doesn't have the movement to hose down the shower curtain.
Finally, after several re-rinses you could get out.
I shaved my legs in there once and the shower curtain was stuck to the entire back of my body!
And I wondered how many other bodies that curtain has 'hugged' ewww!
I bet that shower curtain isn't changed between guests!
Definitely some training in proper customer service is needed (we've gotten better in a 2 star in Bali) and some attention to the extremely uncomfortable bathrooms in the Lodge rooms.
At almost $200AUD per night I felt a bit cheated here actually.
At check-out we weren't even asked if we enjoyed our stay or given the option of providing any feedback...so here it is!
Due to the 'backpacker' kind of service I wouldn't stay there again, even in their best room, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to others.
H.
We came in for dinner this week nd were warned that the kitchen was very busy so food may take a little longer. The staff checked in frequently and food arrived punctually. It was absolutely delicious, highly recommended the bavette. Beautiful wine accompanients and the most friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Cannot recommend highly enough.
X.
Love coming here for coffee&cake. Food menu for breakfast and lunch aren't that exciting, as they don't have many options and don't seem to change the menu very often. But to be fair, the food do taste good here. Lovely atmosphere. Very peaceful.
A.
What an afternoon! Incredibly impressed by the Sherwood team. The food was insane and was particularly impressed by what the chef came back with for dessert when one of our dining party said "surprise me!". I can't wait to come back!
The Pinot Gris is a must-have.
J.
Fantastic experience at Sherwood Queenstown: the room was very cozy but yet well-kept, amenities were well-provided for, and it was a very pleasant balance between nature and cosmopolitan comfort. Although my party of four spent a very short two days here, Sherwood Queenstown left a deep impression on us and we all agreed that our stay here contributed to us feeling that Queenstown was the best town we visited on South Island.
E.
Went for lunch, had a warm bohemian vibe.
Coffee was ok, nothing amazing.
Waitress tried to deter me from having my coffee in a takeaway cup which was slightly weird.
Waited 40 mins for poached eggs on toast (soggy bread and over cooked eggs) but tasted good. However people after us recieved their food first.
The male waiter was very good, and very helpful.
4 🌟 benefit of the doubt.
A.
We loved our stay at Sherwood. It's cosy and has a really interesting charm about it. The food and coffee were especially great and I absolutely recommend this place.
K.
Great place. Room very climatic, clean, well-kept. Friendly service, very tasty food. Close to the city, close to the lake. I would recommend!
P.
Basic, trendy hotel in a good location equal walking distance between Frankton and Queenstown. No TV,s only bar/restaurant entertainment. Well suited for skiing and the 25-45 group. No luxury items.
V.
Queenstown is expensive so Sherwood would be considered moderately priced. It was built (I am guessing) in the early 70's. It has had a makeover as opposed to a renovation. It's sound proofing standards are of that era and as result you can hear things you would rather not! Take earplugs. The theme of decoration is very appealing. The staff were lovely and there was a complementary sangria for us all which was a nice touch. The location is about 4km from Queenstown central but walkable if you're fit.
M.
Beautiful hotel, service was also great. Love the story of the hotel as well and how its all come together. Restaurant was really nice, however a little overpriced for what you get, but still very delicious. All round id definitely recommend to my friends
L.
Beautiful place, the best food of our holiday, and a wonderful room and amenities. If you stay, have breakfast! Rhe housemade jam, local honey and free range eggs and bacon are an absolute treat.
M.
I went to check out the bar for 'locals happy hour', as advertised in the lobby. The unhelpful bartender completely ignored me and served 7 others who walked in after me. When I finally got to order a beer, he told me that there was only one beer on special for 'happy hour', and it wasn't the one he had poured me. "That will be $9.50 mate". Thanks mate! The beer selection isn't great either. Not worth going out of the way to stop here.
K.
Loved this place. Sustainable energy, recycled everything from furniture to rubbish, yoga, meditation, beautiful restaurant with AMAZING food. Staff lovely. Rooms clean and very cool decor.
M.
This was my 4th time staying at the Sherwood. It is one of those special places designed with purpose and character. And I just love the buffet breakfast. Particularly the waffles. Mmmm, they gotta be up there with the best in the world!
W.
Good hotel setting, woody and classic. No tv in the room, but there is limited wifi reset every 11am. the bed is too soft, and the shower water is not strong enough. Heater is there, but no ac.
A.
Fantastic restaurant - overall great experience. Food was excellent, drinks were really good and service made you feel welcome and appreciated as a guest. Highly recommended
C.
Fantastic place to stay. I highly recommend it. Clean and comfortable rooms. The restaurant onsite was fabulous. I loved their commitment to sustainable living.
P.
Such a lovely and relaxed place to come for lunch with the family.
Delicious food! We had a great fathers day special meal, thank you Sherwood!
J.
Great dining experiences (dinner and breakfast) and the attention to detail in the rooms was appreciated. Would highly recommend even though it is a little out of town.
M.
Stayed here 4 times, great vibe and design. Potentially not for everyone, but we love it. It reminds me of ACE hotels style from the USA. Great breakfast
L.
I loved The Sherwood. Gorgeous, concious hotel, yoga and co-working space. The food delicious, the rooms are a relaxing Oasis and the staff were delightful! I'll be back 😊
p.
There are no TV, no Microwave, unfinished wall, the answer was hotel style
But the room is big enough for 2 people and the environment good for Kids
B.
It's a nice place to chill out but rather on the mid to expensive side of things. Great Burger! Beer comes in rather small plastic cups for 10$ each. If you're snowboard needs a wax you can go there and learn how to do it for 15$ including one mulled wine.
R.
Excellent place to stay in Queenstown. Comfortable, but not luxurious. Almost "rustic" - but certainly "Green" - they care about the planet and our health. Wonderful staff and service!
C.
First place we stayed on our New Zealand Roadtrip, everything about the place is awesome!
The cheese platter is a must!
Will definitely make another stop here when we come back next Snow Season!
S.
Very comfortable and a good price. I would definitely go back.
Edit: back for a second visit. Loving it. Restaurant has fantastic food. Comfortable atmosphere. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.
T.
Went to a book launch of "Make or Break" with acclaimed Rom Com author Catherine Benneto at our hotel, Sherwood Community, "an experiment in modern living." Our hippy hotel has carpet made from recycled fishing nets, carbon negative cork, recycled metal furniture, ex-military blankets for curtains. Our delicious food is biodynamic, foraged from all over Otago and on-site gardens, we have a yoga/massage/sauna eco studio. We have no TV, only fire pits. It's strange and wonderful being in a community that promotes the arts with a music program running all year. We were given hand made soap, a diffuser and crystals to help maintain the "vibe" in our room. Its all based on the philosophy of Ram Dass and every room has a copy of "Be Here Now".
B.
Super cosy and cute. Comfy beds, helpful staff, delicious food. Close to the lake. Highly recommend their continental brekkie. Yum!
A.
Great vibe with outdoor bbq going and great drinks selection for an after work get together. Only issues were music too loud to talk in a group, and its too popular - parking was difficult to find.
C.
The best place to stay in Queenstown hands down. The ethos and how everything has been carefully put together is truly inspiring. Goodonya guys x
O.
A few minutes drive from town centre. Beautiful view and very spacious. Rooms are big, clean and nicely decorated in an artistic way. Bathroom is a bit basic but still acceptable. Very value for money when we compare Sherwood with those 2-3* accommodation options in the downtown. Parking facilities are not sufficient when the hotel is fully booked. We had to park one of our cars outside the hotel.
Q.
Very hipster hotel. I love all the decor and small things in the room. It's not walkable to the town center (shuttle available at set schedule), so I would recommend having a car available.
M.
My room lacked decent lighting and a TV was non-existent, but it was very stylish and an enjoyable stay. WiFi was free and had a consistently stable connection, despite a slightly annoying login method.
S.
Fantastic vibe and great rooms, warm and comfortable. Awesome service and enough parking to go around as is a little bit out of town. Would highly recommend
R.
Really quirky spot with great rooms and good food. Don't stay if you expect a standard hotel experience (e.g. room service and TV) but do stay if you want something different.
T.
Sheerwood has set Service to another level.
Entering in our room, my nose was seduced by those nice fragrances, and my ears by this really nice music background. The shampoo and the conditionner are manukau honey based Who does that? They are turning-over the traditional motel or hotel experience.
The restaurant is amazing, full of original touch points. They care, you know it, feel it, and highly recommend it.
C.
Great place, great breakfast with local foods. Room cozy and comfy bed. Staff exceptional.
M.
Redefining what it is to be a motel. They've created a community. Restaurant uses fresh produce grown on site. Fire pits adorn the communal spaces encouraging guests to socialise, also given that the rooms are sans TV sets. Be here and now cause there is no alternative
A.
Juet went for the Holly Arrowsmith album release, sweet vibe nice and cosy. Could have had more seats but that's all goods. Beautifully warm on a cold winter's night and absolutely phenomonal music. Would highly recommend!
A.
Amazing place to stay!! Awesome vibe, each room comes with internet radio that plays soothing music non stop, all in all a great place to stay!! Very recommended!
M.
Great atmosphere, nice view, awesome food and reasonable price.
H.
I love the vibe in this place, they've created a cool atmosphere here since the refurb and the food is healthy and delicious. Its my go to place if I wanna sit with my laptop and a coffee and get some work done. Big fan!!
A.
Ordering was confusing since we didn't all want a full breakfast, but the house made food was delicious! Staff were friendly, but a bit busy.
J.
This was such an unexpectedly cool experience! The rooms, restaurant, views, live music, sauna, outside fire, we loved the whole thing. Thank you!
B.
Excellent view from the balcony of room. Photos attached. Good property. Nice staff. Restaurant provides organic food.
S.
Good place to stay. I personally believe for the money you are paying , the rooms could be better especially the beds which move around like cars.
P.
Best stay in NZ! Staffs are friendly. Rooms are well kept and comfortable to stay in. Kitchen is well equipped too.
H.
Nice restaurant and view facing the lake. Service is very good and so is the food. Had organic chicken and it was so juicy
A.
We enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch put on by the restaurant at the Sherwood. The accompanying wine list was excellent with extremely friendly service.
A.
Delicate food. Warming service. Nice atmosphere. What can we as for more? All in all, it’s a reasonable price for such good dishes.
H.
Lovely place to stay for large groups. Very homey and great scenery from the restaurant...good menu and excellent food!
J.
A very unique place. Food wasn't my style and very overpriced as was the alcohol but the rooms were awesome.
F.
recommended. Very warm rooms, old fashion style place that I enjoy, I like the vibe.kids friendly unlike the Queenstown Hotel Appartment down the road about 3km away.
U.
Very friendly and helpful staff, peaceful and quiet at night, good healthy food, lovely hot showers, comfortable beds and cosy rooms. Would definitely stay here again when i visit Queenstown 😊👍
s.
Loved the aesthetics of the place, very nice vibe beautiful view ample parking, vibrant yet cozy. Loved it here.
J.
I messed up a booking on my end and Sherwood really looked after me by calling as soon as a room was available...all on Easter weekend. Fantastic room with attention to design detail. Thanks heaps guys!
S.
What a cool place to stay. They are all about saving the planet which is a fresh change after staying at big chain hotels. The beds were super comfortable and the shower was the best of the trip. Will definitely be back =)
K.
Set over a beautiful location between Frankton and Queenstown, the facilities and rooms are fantastic. The sauna is wonderful to come back to, and the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable.
B.
Amazing food and service. Rooms great for families and groups. The interior design detail is inspired.
T.

S.
Popped in for a quick lunch, small menu but delicious.. would love to go back for the full dinner menu..
G.
What a great place to stay. Do not leave without eating in the restaurant. Ask for the chefs table! Superb.
T.
Should be in everyone's food tour of Queenstown. Breakfast, lunch or dinner: always a quality offering. One of the best beverage offerings around as well.
O.
Our experience in the hotel was absolutely fantastic! Beautful people, great restaurant, cool vibe. Highly recommend!
N.
Went for dinner. Food is a bit over priced for what it is. I would have expected slightly more complex dishes or more food for this price. Great bottle of wine though.
E.
Must stay if you are in Queenstown. Friendly staff, great location, amazing room. Just perfect
J.
Delicious selections from the menu. Grow their own veggies. Local wines. Friendly service.
D.
Awesome. Happy space with great service and ameneties. The food is amazing. Yet to try the yoga. Will do next time
J.
A beautiful hotel, and a great experience.. Stay out of the bustle of queenstown, just up the road, its pure tranquility... The restaurant is superb.
M.
The best place to stay in Queenstown. Great concept. Food is mostly made in house and grown in their garden.
V.
Really goood food!! Every dish was perfect, and the price was very good. ambience and service were also cool
S.
beautiful place, great setting on the lake. Staff could not be more freindly. Would reccamend to anyone.
C.
I had a great night. I've never been to the venue before. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. I would recommend to all
L.
We had a great time staying here for 4 nights nice staff and comfortable accommodation.
T.
Unreal experience. Food was amazing and cocktails and wine menu just as good. Definitely a must try.
A.
Only 5mins drive to Queenstown centre, comfy, cosy and eco friendly facilities, amazing view. A little bit on the pricier side, like everything else in Queenstown
A.
Loved to hotel and restaurant concept at the sherwood. Great atmosphere and food, rooms are well docorated and comfortable.
K.
A wonderful find in Queenstown! You won't be dissapointed staying here. Such fantastic value in an expensive holiday town. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
K.
Awesome place to relax. The only thing to be aware of that you need to take a taxi to get into town (it walk), appox. 1.5 miles.
D.
Not much vegan options on the menu, but they were happy to accommodate and the end result was delicious!
M.
Beautiful hotel. Everything is really new and very well done. Slept so well! Thank you Sherwood!
R.
Stunning food awesome service !
Genius behind the menu ...
M.
A welcoming experience. Awesome ambience. Friendly accommodating staff in Restaurant. Generous portions in Restaurant

A.
This place is amazing. Beautiful rooms, great food and helpful staff.

U.

A.
Spacious and clean bed rooms. Nice outside seating area.

The room itself is ok. But there is not enough parking spot so you might park on street. Expect long waiting to check in or ask questions

This is a little bit of an off the wall kinda place - rooms are "quaint", staff is hit and miss if you have a problem, and you'll feel you're in a 60's commune.
