Management made us feel really welcome. The manager and his wife went out of their way to give us a enjoyable last day of our holiday. We sat in the hotpool with the temperature just excellent. We talked to others and I have not laughed so much forever. I would definitely go back if I could.

Good location - at good price Less than 450.00 for 5 people over 2 nights is good. Overall the place is tired and the hallway walls and doors could do with a clean in saying that the rooms were very clean. The hot pool is lovely and hot is small though. The heated big pool could be hotter. The communal kitchen is fabulous. You get what you pay for. Nice stay thanks guys

Reception/check in was great. The room was tidy however the toilet in our bathroom was leaking on the floor and it smelt,informed reception and all we got were towels to soak up the water.The spa and pool were great and probably the highlight of the stay.

Fantastic and kind receptionist with a pleasant smile and warm welcome. This hotel is located in the middle of city center. Rooms are moderate. It used to be the backpackers but they now converted it. You have a option to cook yourself(DIY kitchen) but menus are also available for the better price. Swimming pool and bath tub are moderate. Only disappointing thing is water always has a sulphur smell which we hate it. Rooms are very old though but neatly maintained. Overall moderate place to stay.

Value for money worth the stay hot thermal pool big community kitchen to cook your own meals if you need to. Comfortable warm bed and rooms close by to town and supermarkets. Friendly smiling receptionist. Great service.

really good if you need a place to stay for the night. nice friendly service but the bathrooms were a bit cramped. beds were displayed nicely and sheets were clean but uncomfortable for extended periods of time. my only true complaint was that my key card didn't work properly. it only worked about half the time on my room door and it didnt work at all on the outside doors. perfect for a cheap pit stop, but not a long term stay.

I have stayed here many times. The location is prefect. The hot pools are amazing and the staff are fantastic. Full kitchen is also available so you can do your own meals. Rooms are lovely and warm. Highly recommend the Four Canoes for affordable accommodation.

I stayed here for one night. Check in and check out was easy enough. The rooms themselves are nice enough with bathroom with a shower, a mini fridge and TV. The beds were comfortable and I had a good sleep. There is a swimming pool guest can use, it is heat but not very much so it can be a very refreshing swim. However the outside of this hotel could do with some work. In some places the balcony rail was very rusted and I wouldn't have liked to put much weight on it. The cold water tap in my bathroom was also not working. I guess for a relatively cheap hotel it wasn't bad but don't be expecting anything too fancy.

We were made so welcome and after a long drive in very bad weather. It was so nice to be shown to our really warm and comfortable room the staff here were very helpful. For a reasonable price with comfortable surroundings this is a place that would be hard to beat amenities spot on and very clean. Thank you Four Canoes.

At first glance I was like well this looks pretty rundown, however the service by the south asians there was awesome, nice friendly, approachable, always had a smile and the touch of Maori culture made me feel right at home. Clean tidy rooms, clean toilets, excellent use for the shared kitchen, all cutlery, plates, pots, microwaves, fridge & ovens provided, thank use very much for your guys services.

arrived for check in but system down. had to wait for about 20mins. room space was generous and beds were of high quality. but the toilet was worst of all the hotels or motels I had been to (at similar price range). silver chrome for knobs and showers were eroded or peeled off over time and the toilet bowl was with zebra stripes!

Nice place with lots of friendly staff. Love their optimism and their help with everything. They really go beyond to please us. Could use a little nicer decor though. Otherwise a really nice hotel.

Rooms were nice, and comfortable. Although, the bathrooms varied in their range of niceness (some nice and clean and some not so...), additionally the showers were generally quite annoying to use. Otherwise the hotel was quite reasonable :)

Nice friendly staff. We arrived late at night after reception closed but we rang the bell & a man came down. He was really nice & not grumpy that he had to come down at 10pm to check us in. The hotel looks overused but the room was clean.

The family room we stayed in was clean, beds were confortable, linen was fresh and had everything we needed. Mini fridge, tea/coffee etc, hair drier, iron and ironing board plus sky TV & free wifi. Hotel also has seperate kitchen and dining room so you can cook your own meals if you wanted. There are two swimming pools and a hot tub, one of the pools is heated. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. We asked for extra towels to go swimming & the guy delivered to our room. Location is great as you are very close to town and walking distance to shops, supermarkets, restaurants & takeway joints. This isn't a five star resort but if you're after a comfortable and affordable place to stay the night(family of 5 =$105/night) then this place is really good value for money.

Convenient location off the main road straight into town. The room is a bit simple and has a thermal pool as well as a regular pool for anyone wanting to enjoy Rotorua's geothermal pools. They provide daily housekeeping along with meals in the breakfast hall.

Ryan, Nicki and the girls are a fantastic family and as your hosts will make you feel welcome. New bathrooms, great rooms and a pool to take a dip in.... what more can you ask for. Make this you place to relax in Rotorua.

This place was a real surprise. I needed a place to stay as I hadn't realised how far Rotorua was from my main stay and couldn't face driving back, so booked into the Four Canoes very easily. Staff were friendly, and the rooms very clean. I went in with relatively low expectations but I have to say they were exceeded and for the money I think this place is great. It's not exactly in the centre, but we had a car to drive into the centre and have a look around during the evening. You do get shower gels and shampoo etc, so for a basic stay the Four Canoes was totally fine.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Room was right by the thermal pool and the smell was terrible. Other guest were very noisy through the night and early morning. No ac so room was stuffy and smelly.

This is the best hotel we've been to, it has great service and we had the best time with our family even thought we only had 2 nights and 3 days at Rotorua. We booked 5 rooms for us and our family and we all loved it , it was clean and tidy and they served us the best 10/10. When we come to Rotorua again we sure will come back and it was pretty cheap thought. 10/10 Service, Rooms, Price, Other...

A bit tired in terms of grounds and corridors but excellent value for money, lovely beds and rooms... looks like they're renovating... lovely staff and manager... will definitely be back!

Budget accommodation. Negatives - Limited parking, narrow staircase, no elevator and tiny bathrooms. Positives - close to downtown, excellent fish and chip shop (Oppies) nearby, big rooms and friendly staff.

Is very comfy for a relatively good price. The rooms are also very clean and the pools are great to wind back in during the evening. The staff are also friendly.

This is a great hostel. It is very cheap but offers a lot: free wifi, nice and clean common areas, clean rooms, board games to borrow... And a hot mineral pool!

Good place to rest. Rooms were a little stuffy as no air con but good bathroom and tea and coffee facilities were available. Was a good place to break up a journey and stop and rest

My sons team and management stayed here...friendly staff nice rooms and kitchen space was abit packed at the worst of times needing more storage space maybe own fridges in own rooms to help with the over flow... walking distance to everything.

Couldnt ask for more. Easy check in, no hassles to get anything you needed. Simple but effective accomadation.
