My daughter and I stayed here last month - January. Lovely staff, friendly. There is rock climbing here and a movie theater
We loved it here. We had a room with 2 bunks and 2 single beds, a window and fan.
We would come back to our room and crash on our beds for a cat nap. It was just great.
Cheaper accommodation too. If you want to have more money for attractions.
Thanks for a great time.

Stay was all round good. Staff were definitely very helpful and had a nice positive attitude which was the best part about it. The backpackers was clean, and looked very professional to a backpackers standard. Kitchen was 5/5. Unfortunately our room didn't have a window but if that's an issue, it may pay to ask if your window does in fact have a window or not. Will definitely recommend and be back here.
If you're checking in during the day/afternoon, it might be hard to find a parking spot as they are in the towns central, so keep that in mind, plenty of parking after 6 pm!
Dale was a great host.
B.
Rooms and facilities were decent enough. Kept pretty clean and tidy.
Night time can be pretty noise with the alley behind. You'd have to keep the window open otherwise the rooms can be pretty warm in the summer nights.
The free wifi is only 1gb/day by Zenbu which is also annoying.
D.
Amazing staff & great location. Very nice greeting by the staff on receptionist and also super positive and helpful. Toilets & laundry are clean and tidy.
J.
Love it here.. the location is on point. Not too far from lake front. Literally 2min walk. And the Customer service was really welcoming and definitely made us wanna stay another night... DALE ur Customer service was awesome bro. I told u I was gonna make a review 😂. Keep up ur good work and positive attitude.. definitely see uz in the new year
J.
Good value for money but bed was uncomfortable. Central location gives u a lot if noises such as drank singing people around and the worst glass bottle collector at 5 am!
L.
Good central location. The kitchen is massive with enough stoves, ovens and fridge space, really needs to be upgraded with more kitchen knives as the only available knife during my 3 day stay was a bread knife. One of the fridges (fridge sign on the front) turned out to be a freezer and left my food completely frozen when I wanted to use it for breakfast.
The mattress was okay, a few springs were coming out. The plug situation was a little annoying with only 4 plugs in a 6 bed room, so away from my bed.
Although the place is a bit dark and rundown at some spots, it is very clean!
Massive lockers in the room which was great. The WiFi did the job and I could watch Netflix in bed.
Massive shout out to the blonde English dude at the front desk, who was smashing housekeeping at the same time and kept the biggest smile on. Such professional customer service, I felt treated like I'm checking into a 5 star hotel! :)

I loved the fact I could just check in, go about town do my Christmas present shopping , bring my push bike into my room have a good night to rest then shower change leave my key in the letter box of this back packers let myself out and bike back out to Murapara. Clean environment thanks people 🙏
K.
Good hostel that just a few footsteps from the bars, restaurants and shops with a cinema and climbing area on location. Parking wasn't an issue.
The rooms were good however would be a lot better if they they had more plug sockets. They did provided an multi plug extension but that was on the other side of the room.
Very clean kitchen and shower rooms, helpful and friendly staff. We stored our bikes in the luggage area and were able to collect them really early in the morning before the office open as we were checking out early, thank you again for arranging for this to happen.
C.
Quiet rooms, super clean facilities and good location !
W.
Fantastic location to the areas we was visiting. Friendly staff, I like the climbing wall but we never had time to do that or go see the movies and the other activities offered at the back packers. My daughter and I stayed in the twin room with a shower and toliet. Bed was a little hard but that's a personal preference. Very clean and spacious regarding lounges and kitchen area. I definitely would go back and stay to see the rest of the sights we missed.
C.
Not enough towels available, received only 1 for two persons. We booked a room with 4 bunk beds and our room was smelly. The lighting fixtures for the individual beds weren't working.
The kitchen wasn't very well equipped. Some more cooking utensils would be great.
Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were pretty clean and the location good.
R.
Pretty nice backpackers! Kitchen area is decent, climbing wall is great as is the free WiFi. Generous locker space too in the rooms, although would have been nice to have power points by all the beds including top bunks. Overall a comfy place to stay!
K.
The location is fantastic. Close to the main bus station, the spa, many restaurants, etc. The staff were great, too. If you like climbing walls, this place is for you. I gave it only 4 stars, as it wasn't as clean as any of the other hostels I've been to in New Zealand, and some of the equipment they had was not working. Had a good sleep there either way.
R.
Friendly staff, clean kitchen and washroom, parking little bit tricky but details clearly mentioned by staff so quite helpful. Just missed fan as it was very warm day. Maybe available if ask but we did late arrival. Definitely suggest if you want place at handy location.
s.
The building is kinda old and not very tidy. Most of the rooms has spider webs, staying for very few hours is alright but too long. Cool thing is that we can do rock climbing downstairs.
T.
One of my favorite hostels by far. Staff was extremely friendly, rooms were nice, and the kitchen was excellent (I cook a lot when I backpack). The location was excellent with a tasty cafe right next door (Lotus Cafe, delicious breakfast for 9.50 NZD). It seemed very safe for a hostel and there was even a sweet climbing gym underneath. Pool and ping-pong in the lounge area, can't beat that!
M.
Liked it a lot when we stayed there. Very friendly and helpful staff, awesome location next to/inside a climbing gym. Rotorua itself was surprisingly sleepy early december but it's definitely worth it for the geothermal sites.
Rooms were spacious and clean, beds comfy. Parking can be difficult but that's because you're downtown.
All in all great location.
J.
Great value for money
$20 stay cheaper than a unpowered tent site.
Good location right in the CBD so easy to get to places. Cool mini movie cinema and rock climbing in the same building complex.
T.
Good facilities, ping pong and pool table were good. There is an Xbox but with limited games. The WiFi is good. Kitchen is alright but a bit small. Showers were good but not that many of them and not a lot of toilets, didn't have to queue during my time there but imagine in a morning there can be. Beds were quite uncomfortable with a small pillow and only a thin sheet as a cover.
J.
Rock Solid was in the city Centre which makes it really accessible. We were a group of four that had a private room to ourselves. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean. They provided us towels and hairdryer which was definitely a plus point. The only downside was the distance of the female showers from our room. Being situated only on the first floor while our room was on the second floor, it was a little inconvenient but everything else was good.
J.
I liked the rooms and facilities, good kitchen, bathrooms and beds. My twin room had a nice heater in it and towels. The complex is good but felt a little to big for my taste, high ceiling and open spaces take away a bit of that community feeling. The bad thing was staff at reception, someone was posted there who seemed to hate their job and just did not care anymore.
L.
Comfortable, clean, good sized twin room, really good value for money
R.
Very nice staff and in a good spot in town. Could use a bit more cleaning but nothing too bad for a hostel.
M.
Nice backpackers. Room are smaller.

Quite impressed for a hostel. Stayed in a private room with a bathroom. There are free coffee and tea. Play room at the reception. During our check in the receptionist was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed
O.
They are next to a boulder course that you can easily use. The common area has a table tennis place. The Backpacker is fantastic located, you have parking lots in front of the door (for the night) or nearby for daytime. Nice staff!
E.
Decent hostel in a great location. However when we arrived there we were told that they had no towels left for us. :( sad.
T.
Kitchen lacked some basic equipment or what they did have was simply not enough, e.g. two knives for preparing food for the entire kitchen. Rooms were also very warm in the summer without air conditioning and only a small window
W.
First time I was in a hostel which was 100% accessible for disabled people on wheelchairs! AMAZING!!!! All the facilities were good, and customer service was great. Thank You to Julia from reception for good recommendation for spending my evening👍🏻 and for being so kind and helpful👍🏻
E.
Very clean and tidy, facilities are really comfortable

Lovely hostel, very clean with good spacious rooms. Close to evvverything! The only down side would be my friend got about 20 dollars worth of food stolen and the staff didnt try to do anything about it and then stated there were no camera in the kitchen so make aure your stuff is in a bag labeled in big letters.
D.
A brilliant, clean & friendly hostel.
Stayed here a dozen nights during my multiple travels and it seems to never disappoint. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen are always tidy. Great hot showed. Super fast and reliable free WiFi! Right in the centre of Rotorua.
Would recommend to anyone who would visit Rotorua!
K.
Super clean and well maintained (bunk beds don't rattle and squeak like crazy!). Not very homey (looks like a converted office building) and shower rooms seemed to be unheated, but has a cinema in the basement and they have discounts on the surrounding attractions.
Also, downtown Rotorua (aka right outside) has 90 min free parking and parking is only charged from 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri (9am to noon Sat).
H.
Loads of space!! Loved single rooms- double bed so comfortable and colour decor fabulous. Clean although a lift would be helpful when travelers are exhausted on booking in for accommodation.
A.
A pretty nice hostel with friendly and accommodating staff! Lacks a bit of sunlight and the atmosphere isn't the best I've ever seen. You get discounts for the rock climbing, also the bouldering is limited.
D.
Best hostel so far in north island!
1.Clean! Everywhere is super clean always (showers, toillettes, kitchen, living areas)
2.Comfortable! Has alot of common seating areas (on several floors) with a view of the Wall (climbing indoors)! The beds are comfy and mainly the bunk beds are wooden, hence give more privacy and do not sqweak!!
3. Complete! Has table tennis, billiard, great discount on wall climbing, movie room, big kitchenand 2gb wifi free per night.
4. Well located. Only 5 min walk from i centre, which gets you closer to pak and save!
J.
Definitely recommend this hostel, the rooms are bright, modern, and colourful, with plenty of space to feel at home. And the staff are so friendly and helpful! We had a great time staying here in Rotorua.
T.

J.
Very friendly staff. Clean facilities. Right in the center of Rotorua. Several cozy lounges. 2GB free and fast WiFi per night. Big and clean Kitchen with a broad variety of herbs (not enough frypans though). Great variety of movies with a big TV (LotR Special Edition included :P). High quality mattresses even in the 8 bed dorms. Many small things that excite me aswell, like a reading light for every bed... Overall great experience and one of the best hostels I've stayed in New Zealand. Building feels a bit cold in the beginning (look wise) because it is very big with broad hallways, but you get over it through all the upsides. :)
L.
Very nice hostel, rooms are laid out so that you get maximum space and are quite light and open so you don’t feel like you are falling over one another. Facilities are good with plenty to do in the area.
A.
Good value and extremely friendly staff who will help you book tours and such with no booking fee. Decent beds, bathrooms, and kitchen. Unfortunately WiFi was very spotty and I could only access it in the common areas. My room was also right next to the main hallway and bathroom so all I could hear all night was doors slamming and water running.
V.
excellent place to be if your on a budget. rooms pretty good but can get hot in summer as no air conditioning. A lot of activities including a climbing wall.
E.
Decent hostel in a great location. However when we arrived there we were told that they had no towels left for us. :( sad.
A.
Big, clean and well maintained hostel. Excellent cooking and communal areas too. It also has a built in climbing wall if you fancy too!
P.
Great location. Friendly staff. Beds are extremely comfortable and facilities well maintained. I was gonna a stay for one night and ended up there for 3! Thanks for a great time in Rotorua!!!
R.
Very nice staff and in a good spot in town. Could use a bit more cleaning but nothing too bad for a hostel.
C.
Great Hostel, would definetly stay there again! The facilities are clean and the staff is very friendly. Also it's very central, that way you can actually reach a lot of things by foot.
A.
It's a nice hostal, but the environment is not that nice, it's not cosy at all .
If you're looking just for somewhere to stay it's going to work for you. The kitchen facilities are great, they have everything you need.
W.

F.
Pretty solid Backpacker. Facilities are good. Housekeeping could have been better as quite a few guest were keeping their dirty dishes all over the place.
E.
The bes is not the best quality and the energy plugs are only in one side is the room. But they have free coffee and sugar. The location is good.
M.
Loved this hostel (especially the giant windows facing onto the rock climbing gym). Security can't be beat - even if you do feel like you are entering a vault with the number of locked doors!
Just a note: Rotorua is nicknamed the Sulfur City for a reason.
C.
Awesome cheap place to stay central location close to shops has a bar and Cafe below awesome place
S.
In the prime locality very close to all the amenities. Can have inhouse rock climbing and home theatre.
M.
Our first hostel stay. Played ping-pong, made food in the kitchen, used their Wi-Fi, no complaints.
F.
Go there when you are in Rotorua! Everything was super clean and so spacious. They had a big and well equipped kitchen, which was also very clean.
J.
Bunk Beds squeak when you move and when you are tring to sleep everything else is awesome I give it a four close to shops and Skyline Rotorua place in Rotorua enjoy your stay.

A.

M.

(Translated) The price is cheap and clean.
The room is spacious and the kitchen is old, but it feels well maintained.
There are plenty of refrigerators and plenty of baskets for room temperature storage.
The kitchen utensils and dishes were clean, and the bathroom was clean.
Recommended for those who search for backpackers.

(Translated) I really liked this Hostel. The facilities are very good, the kitchen is very well equipped, the ladies' bathrooms have several hairdryers, the staff is friendly and responsive. It has living room and game (geek). It has a large locker, heater in the room, free wifi and a great comforter. The location is great! Close to the Intercity terminal and a Starbucks.
Point against: the kitchen and reception close at 10pm and only open at 8am. I had to check out early and could not make my breakfast. But there is a box where you leave the room key in case you go out early. It is the rhythm of Rotorua: everything closes early, the city dies.
I recommend the hostel to everyone.

Gostei bastante deste Hostel. A localização é ótima!
