E.Great experience, would happily recommend the premises to any prospective wedding planners.
Staff at all levels were friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating of changing circumstances.
The main accommodation faces out onto the lake lined by native bush. Very idyllic spot with plenty of spots for good photo opportunities.
The double guest room we stayed in was clean, relatively modern and had all the expected amenities.
Covid protocols were well adhered to by all staff seen.
R.Great holiday accommodation for couples and families. A variety of available services, and play areas for children.
The pool, spa, and sauna are a highlight and accessible for quite a large part of the day. Child safe.
The restaurant is nice with a good look over the lake. The eggs were a bit over cooked but the friendly staff compensated with some complimentary sausages and hash browns, which was nice.
The staff are accommodating and friendly.
The rooms are functional with a stellar view of the lake.
A.Beautiful spot overlooking lake with lots of special touches for relaxation, romance and family. Restaurant staff and food were lovely and children well provided for. Outdoor pool and spa were perfect for exercise and unwinding, even late at night until 11pm

Bathroom and bathtub were nice. Shower's water pressure was weak but tub filled fast. Ventilation was working well too.

I read many reviews pointing out the underwhelming reception. Not mean or rude, just lacking the warmth or welcome that a holiday-goer would appreciate. Personally, a welcoming check-in or a caring check-out would have greately improved my overall evaluation and experience of the stay.
No kid- friendly facility other than the pool(which we enjoyed)
Cobweb with a dozen dead insects was not so impressive either.
On both days card key stopped working.
The dated facilities or absence of them are understandable due its good price.

We have booked this hotel just because of the buffet and were very disappointed to know on check-in that the buffet had been canceled because of Red light.
However, Nick made sure our stay would be pleasant and he was there for us at any time we needed.
I was even wondering if he gets some time to sleep.
Looks like a multitasking staff.
Every place we would go, Nick would be there for us. Great on you guys for having a great staff like Nick!

K.The hotel is old and in need of some TLC but I think that is reflected well in the price we got. The bed is super comfortable, and if it wasn't for this place we would never have discovered Okere Food Store... 4km from here with amazing meals and an experience in itself.
Some things that lets this place down is the lack of cleanliness of the rooms. It was also freezing cold in the room when we arrived, which is horrible on a cold day, and the heat pump was very noisy.
Overall it was pretty good thou, but I'm glad we only stayed one night.

Buffet breakfast delicious and although didn't dine in for dinner did enjoy time in the bar. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room service snacks also delicious. K.A fantastic family holiday! Great being able to all be together (16 of us) and also have separate spaces (3 villas). Great access for boats, kids enjoyed tennis, the playground, outdoor chess, pool and spa, adults enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, restaurant, and everyone enjoyed nearby activities. A great spot! Would recommend staying here.
J.As a gift, my partner and I were given the opportunity to stay at the resort for a night. From start to finish the experience was beautiful. Our room was lovely, with such a great view of the lake. K.Beautiful view in sheltered spot on the shore of Lake Rotoiti, a short scenic drive from Rotorua. They have birds that are trained to do loops like stunt pilots. These fantail birds did a show to entertain us while I ate my excellent breakfast looking out over the lake. I found the staff to be excellent and helpful and slept like a rock after mountain biking yesterday. It looks like they are putting in the effort to do this place up, which is nice cause I’d take my grandma out to dinner here, or have a wedding here if I was that type of bloke.

Rooms were very tidy, nice bed, clean bathroom, and Air-conditioning.
All the rooms had warnings about trout flies that I imagine other people had complained about at some stage, we didn't experience these at all, and the windows all had meshes to prevent them etc so no issues.
The first room we stayed in unfortunately had a leaky Aircon unit, and so we were moved to an upgraded multi-room studio for free! What a huge win.
Sadly we only stayed the one night, could happily have stayed a week!
The veiw's from both rooms were excellent, it was lovely and tranquil despite other guests also been present around the place.
Easy parking out front, nice breakfast options.
Summary: I've stayed in a lot worse hotels for a lot more money, and only a very small handful that were better.
P.Fabulous place. Staff are so very helpful and friendly. Our room was wonderful. We had a king bed with beautiful furnishings and view. The vooked breakfast or continental style, (included in orice) is just great. We had the cooked, which needed to be heated uo, but the food choices were excellent. Totally worth staying there. We went on the boat to the springs trip. 7 different pools to swim in. Get a drink (alcoholic) or take your own plus a BBQ u can cook your own meal. Beautiful place. 😍
L.Beautiful resort in a secluded spot. Right on the lake, slightly out of town which is great for more private getaways. There's also kayaking, tennis and a pool to keep you occupied.
Reception, dining and cleaning staff were all super warm and helpful, the buffet breakfast also had a large range of hot and cold selections. Rooms are slightly outdated but the super comfortable beds and the beautiful venue more than made it a great experience.
Will definitely recommend as the better accommodation optiom if you don't absolutely have to stay in town.
L.Lovely location on a quiet arm of Lake Rotoiti, around 20mins north of Rotorua Central.
Grounds are lovely, with loads of room to move around and enjoy the lake views.
Complex itself is dated, but maintained. Service at the front desk was friendly, although quite slow. Only one staff member on and there was a long line.
Room overlooked a small patio and grassed area by the car park. It had two beds in it which seemed odd as I had requested a King room given it was just me. Had been assured I had been booked into one, but not the end of the world. The room was quite tasteful, with a nice bathroom. Shower pressure was absolutely dreadful. Worst I have ever encountered in a hotel.
General cleanliness was pretty sub standard. Was loads of dust in the room, and mould in the bathroom. Plus quite a bit of general wear and tear like cracked tiles, chipped paint and missing bits and pieces.
TV had the basic freeview, as well as a few select Sky Channels. WiFi was excellent, with no lag or issues.
Slept really well, bar a little bit of road noise from the State Highway. Rooms seem to have quite a issue with condensation, with the windows and doors coated with it, my friends room upstairs having the same issue.
Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, with a really decent spread and good quality food. Really friendly attentive service in the restaurant as well. Lovely view from the table out over the frosty lawns to the lakeside.
All in all, a good stay here at the VR Rotorua Lake Resort. Good value for money. Cleanliness does need to be addressed, especially the dust and stuff. Will definitely stay again if the price is right.
Be warned for people unfamiliar with the Rotorua area. The resort is 20mins North of the City, and apart from the restuarant on site, there is very limited options around for eating. The restuarant seems to have quite a limited menu, however prices did seem on par for other restaurants in the area.
R.Staff were great especially the restaurant staff very friendly. One staff member even filled my juice glass at breckfast Great location over looking the lake Food was delicious both dinner and breckfast I recommend the pork. Room was average phone was smashed and not working so couldn't get room service, folding doors in bathroom hindge missing, bed sheets good, pretty bad standard of maintenance the room was clean but for the price very disappointed.
A.1 night in a king room with a view of the lake. Friends bought this for us as a wedding gift and we loved it! The view was 'to die for' we had a drink on the lawn as a sun downer, I took photos of the stars from our balcony in my pajamas and I could chat to my husband watching rugby while I was soaking in the bath with a glass of wine.
The restaurant's prices are a bit high (to be expected) and I was a bit disappointed in the bacon and mushrooms for breakfast (quite tasteless), but otherwise the staff were friendly, the room was great and the view was unbelievable!
Definitely worth a relaxing stay
R.Good place for the family to stay over. About 15-20mins from town, but no big deal because you will be out most of the day. Good heating and bedding, and a decent breakfast. Bit out dated furniture and fittings, but didnt really bother us (most houses in Auckland are out dated too).

D.Stunning views and location.... room was a bit run down and needs some TLC. A few issues that were fixed by a friendly gentleman (who was also in the kitchen) but the reception gentleman needs a holiday or something. Phone in room doesn’t work, bathroom partition wouldn’t close properly and a few other little thing. If the breakfast doesn’t come with your room, don’t waste your money... 30 bucks for cold cheap food. A death by a thousand paper cuts here, nothing majorly wrong but so many little things that all add up and spoil this place.
l.Disappointed with one of the staff who check us in, unfriendly and not helpful. My partner booked the rooms 5/6 weeks ago, call to ensured there are 2 twin rooms can be booked for side by side before making booking and I call back them for final confirmation. When we arrived we got given 2 rooms in different blocks, and we were told that was the best they can do. Worst of all the staff misleading us about his name, so that we can't identify him. The hotel located right next to the lake and has lovely setting, the interior can be improved.
M.This is a 4 star resort.as per the advertisement, but although comfortable I would not agree. The gardens, which was our described outside area was a mess with long grass and messy tables. They seemed more interested in larger group bookings and breakfast at the award winning described restaurant was soggy bread because of inproperly prepared poached egg and a poorly prepared table in the full sun with none of what the other tables offered, tables cloth etc, because they where preparing for a larger booking. Disappointing

R.Pleasant stay. The breakfast is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, maintenence needs to be done for the rooms. New carpet needed. New shower head needed unless you want to soak the shower head in some baking soda and vinegar to unclog it. Whole bathroom can do with a new make over.
D.Good value for $. Was clean & tidy, although a bit dated. Most Staff were lovely, altho the afternoon/ night manager not terribly obliging.
We were in a downstairs room and could hear every step and creaky floorboard from room above. When asked if possible to change rooms was advised room allocation was to suit cleaning round !!- so much for customer satisfaction.

Staff is very courteous, helpful & professional. WiFi runs very good with 10 GB data limit everyday to each device you connect to.
Breakfast option should be taken because it's 20 KMS away from city center so it's quite handy to have a nice breakfast next to their own private lake.
You can play 🎾 tennis or do kayak for $20 per hour in the finest clean water.
We took garden view rooms but lake views rooms looks stunning.

A.It has a nice view on the lake, provided you have a lake view room and over all it has a potential but that’s it.
It’s close to a road so you can hear it. It is old and you can feel it. It is not classy old it’s just old and used. Rooms needs a thorough refurbishment also the cleaning could be a little bit more careful.
Breakfast was really bad very limited choice, hardly any fresh fruits, no vegetables and absolutely disgusting yogurt (which is strange given what you can get in any store).
To me it wasn’t good value for money.
A.Overall as 3 star hotel it is fine. Often In New Zealand they advertise themselves as the best in the whole world and people get here very over-hyped and get disappointed. I cannot really consider too high a place where they got all the space they want and squeeze people next to each other. The service here is fine but, as always for New Zealand, oversold as they got lower standard in the country. So get ready to spend a lot of money for something which you would spend less in other countries. Overall I recommend this place if you go in low season (not much difference with high season as there is really not much to do or see around) and can get some good deal, or if you are rich and want to spend money.
A.The accommodation was very pleasant clean with a bath and excellent shower. Great views. Restaurant menu we found looks great but lacked delivery quality.
V.The hotel is located in a picturesque place on the shore of Lake Rotoiti about 20 min drive from Rotorua town. There are lots of great facilities like a pool (cold) with 2 hot tubes and sauna, giant chess, petanque, tennis court. Kayaks are available for hire. The hotel has a vast territory with tables and BBQ facilities.
Rooms are good but may be the staff should pay more attention to cleaning. Prices are affordable.
There is a nice restaurant with cooked and continental breakfasts.
So, VR Rotorua is a wonderful place to stay with family or friends.

R.It's a beautiful setting in a great lakeside location. Lakeview rooms are highly recommended. Bathroom is good but needs fresh look. Family friendly environment but could be improved a lot more by adding some playground areas. Pool is ok but on the small side. Two spas also available in the same area, however you won't get much privacy or quiet as they are right next to the pool. Good selection breakfast buffet. Lovely stuff. Great for a gateaway.
N.We checked in quite late and left very early so I can only rate it for the small amount of time we stayed there. The resort is in a beautiful location and our room had a great view. The check in and check out process was easy and the gents at the reception were friendly and helpful. It was a little pricey for a few hours but we should have made the most of it, not the hotel’s issue. The resort is showing signs of ageing but overall I can’t complain
A.Lovely room with great view and friendly staff. A nice option to sit in the bath and admire the view, however the shutters between room and bathroom could have provided more privacy. Also a lift would have been very useful!

Cons: no smiling welcome at reception, no explanation about turning lights on, dirty shower door, excess grout not wiped up in bathroom, stained carpet, loose cupboard door hiding fridge, outside coffee table with broken leg, cigarette butts on ground around table. Didn't use any of the extra facilities, so can't say what I would have found.

N.The best weekend getaway we have had. Perfect escape. Beautiful Lake view suites with amazing room service. It's so self-contained in terms of holiday resort activities. Be it swimming, kayaking, spa or tennis. I just wish that the on-site restaurant has more food options. Overall a memorable experience.
A.Poor hospitality: Nice enough place, albeit a little run-down, but pretty disappointed by the service here.
We booked via groupon and first of all weren't offered any information on the extras that we received with our voucher (i.e. kayaking, tennis, breakfastand late checkout ). Secondly, we were told breakfast would be at a certain time and then when we came down for breakfast we were told it was finished and that we were given the wrong time. No apology or anything. The staff weren't very friendly or accommodating at all throughout.
R.Some great views and lovely grounds. Great place to unwind and take your boat\jet ski to go on the lake. You can relax in the pool or hot tubs of just sit next to the lake. A few suggestions that needs attention though, the pool need serious maintenance, it's cracking all along the sides. The hot tub bubbles are not working. We used the kayaks, but they need serious fixing.
R.This is a beautiful location right on the banks of the lake. We stayed three nights just after Boxing Day in 2020. The staff are very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

The hotel is about 16kms away from the city centre but it's worth the drive. Our room was very quiet except on our first night when there was a wedding and they had the fireworks at around 11pm which woke us up. Luckily we managed to go back to sleep a few minutes later with the party music still on. Would have been nice if we were informed about the fireworks when we checked in though. I love how we were only a few steps away from the lake and how we couldn't smell (or could barely smell) what Rotorua is known for. Although our room was a bit dated and tired, overall experience was very good. Don't forget to try the restaurant. I highly recommend VR Rotorua Lake Resort. Check out my photos.

T.We were very impressed with the hotel and our room, but the memorable portion of our stay was the service. The best thing is the price of the room. Dining is most enjoyable as the Resort's Restaurant has the backdrop of the Lake views with the warmth of a real log fire on winter evenings.
K.Romantic setting, small room nice view ordered room service as it was winter and cold but the rooms heated up fast. Loved the bath over looking the lakeside. Professional friendly staff. Has 1 outdoor spa by the reception area next to the swimming pool.
V.Lovely room, had to request more towels etc for the extra person we had booked for. Was a little tight for three. Toilet stopped working however which was annoying. Food was amazing at the restaurant though.

R.What a fabulous place! We were upgraded to a Lakeview Room, (thanks so much!!), which had stunning views. The room was lovely and clean and ALL the staff were so lovely and friendly. The bar was great and we also ate at their Restaurant. It was a beautiful meal, first steak I have ordered for over 5 months at a restaurant. I like my steak very well done, with no pink in it. Most restaurants serve it up tough and chewy as it is much harder to cook a well done steak and still be lovely and soft, than a rare, medium rare steak. My steak was perfect! My husband had the lamb, beautiful shank, taste was amazing. We had the salmon gravlax entree, done to perfection. Sadly, no room for dessert!! Would definitely reccomend and we'll definitely be back!!
A.Had 2 nights here with the family and wanted to stay for more!!such great nights sleep in super comfy beds after a delicious meal at the restaurant at the resort with super fun waiters who were a pleasure to talk to. The pools the spas and the sauna were superb and we definitely made the most of them 😊 price was very reasonable for what we got. They also had canoes or kayaks for you to use but we ran out if time to give them ago too.....but will definitely do that the next time we are back there cause we will most definitely go back 👍👍😊
C.The only thing this resort has going for it is its lakeside location and hence its lakeview.
The hotel has 2 floors, but no lift. We had to carry our luggages up and down by ourselves, with no help from the hotel staff. Not a big issue, but just a poor first impression.
The room size was acceptable, but the shower head was designed for people who are probably less than 1.6m tall. Hot water was not consistent, so there was either a problem with the mixer or the water heater. The lock on our balcony door was problematic, so it took alot of fiddling to get it locked. There were no power points beside the bed (probably due to lack of consideration for user experience during the design stage or simply cost cutting), so all phone charging has to be done across the room, which is inconvenient.
Breakfast was underwhelming with a small selection for the price paid. Guests are also not allowed to sit in 50% of the restaurant, as it is for dinner, which is at least 8 hrs away? Either you do not set the table for dinner, or you let your guests sit wherever they want for breakfast.
This is an ok place to stay for 1 or 2 days, but I wouldn't recommend it for longer stays. Perhaps check out other hotels in the area before settling for this.

T.We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week in lovely comfortable and clean surroundings. The price for the room was very good. I could hear voices and baby in the room next door and footsteps from the room above. Breakfast was an added bonus. See photos : ""one look is worth a thousand words.
A.Great location, tidy room, good facilities and two things need to improve there is definitely need of mat in front of shower room because wet floor could cause accidents. And i have booked room for a couple but body wash privided was not enough
T.Beautiful setting so lots of possibilities for a wonderful restaurant. On January 1st we showed up for breakfast at 10:10 (official breakfast runs until 10:30) and our year started with the comment that we are too late and a buffet which was no longer replenished. Room was comfy with its own spa.

The staff were excellent . Units were very clean . Views are great .
What impressed me most was there was a wedding held on the Saturday with guests staying at hotel but we never heard any noise , and next morning rooms were cleaned and bus loads of tourists arrived and went straight to their rooms .
Meals are great here too. It was nice to hear overseas guests views too . There were Canadians and Australians staying too and they all commented on how good this place was . and the cleanliness of the units.

Shower flooded and went all over the floor. Fridge didnt work. It was on but wasnt keeping milk and beers cold. Smoke alarm was flat and beeping so hadto pull it down and take battery out... The air con wouldnt turn off so had to sleep with it on and woke up cold
On our 2nd nigh our keys stopped working and went down twice to get it fixed. Didnt work. Bosses werent there so couldnt get fixed which stopped us from leaving our room.
The restaurant had a problem that night so that stopped us from going down so just got fish n chips from across the road. They were nice.
Lake and grounds are very nice.
Bath was nice and deep
Bed was AMAZING
And the girl that was on night shift was awsome and friendly
Was a good get away from the kids aha.

T.Hotel is located on the lake and we had a beautiful view. The biggest disappointment was on Saturday night having to listen to a private function downstairs with music blearing loudly until gone midnight and our room (201) almost right above. The whole facility is in serious need of being cleaned outside.
A.Set in a lovely tranquil place beside a lake. Superb food at the restaurant. Also has a swimming pool, sauna and a spa. Very friendly helpful staff. Room facilities are nice too with doors opening out onto the lawn beside the lake.
C.Check in was quick and easy. There's plenty of parking, several pools and a spa. I liked that the wall could be opened so you can take a bath while watching TV. There's not a lot of channels on the TV, but in this area there's plenty else to do. The bed was comfortable and the AC was relatively easy to use.
S.Room was nice, clean however they forgot to put shower gels etc in the bathroom.Bed was comfy and food was delish only downfall is the heated pool not working. Overall we enjoyed our stay 👌
T.The staff were obviously trying their best to provide good service but the hotel had it had a bit of a 'Faulty Towers' feel to it at time. Probably a little older but with charme. Honestly, the resort is going through a process of renovation and upgrading so if you are expecting luxury do not stay here.
J.Lovely resort hotel. First night was marred by obnoxious & loud guests (a tour party - one in particular thought that smoking & making a call at midnight on speakerphone in mandarin while sitting in deckchair on our terrace was a great idea!) but handled OK by staff & not really the hotels fault.
T.The location is great and only 15 minutes from Rotorua. We ordered a couple of glasses of an interesting wine from their list and were given menus as well as a description of the specials. Beautiful surrounds and the ducks on site just make it even more beautiful. Staff very pleasant.
G.Pro's: nice location by the lake. We had a 6 and 4 year old and they enjoyed playing on the swing and trampoline and in the water in the lake. The heated swimming pool was nice for the kids as well as the spa's. We stayed in the timeshare part of the resort which was very roomy and pleasant. We especially enjoyed eating dinner at one of the outdoor settings overlooking the lake.
Con's: We were really looking forward to using the paddle boats on the lake and were very disappointed when told they don't have them anymore. There is no TV4 or sky kids channels so bring your DVD's if you want to entertain the kids early in the morning. It's quite a long drive back into Rotorua (about 20 minutes +). It is quite noisy at night and when the big logging trucks go down the road it shakes the building like there is an earthquake, our kids were quite scared the first night because of this.
Overall: Lovely place to relax, but too far out of town if you are doing activities that are centered near Rotorua city.
T.We stayed at Mourea (a short drive from Rotorua) to avoid the sulphurous fumes that constantly permeate the atmosphere of the area. The rooms were lovely with a sunning view straight out over the lake. Walls are a little too tight because during over 2hours i lstened a conversation between chinese guests but it wasn't my day.
B.They didn't have ant double room left so we took twin room which was fine. But if you are not a couple you would probably should consider a different place. The shower and toilet are separated by something you can see and hear through.
M.Amazing team food was perfect accomodation only quibble room was slightly smaller than expected hit head on ceiling in bathroom. But other than that amazing. Well worth visiting and well worth coming back to already booked for next year

P.Good hotel with great lake views. No lift so porter needed for cases but only one floor anyway. Didn't eat here as the 'All Day Menu' finishes at 6 pm!!! Then it's a posh ala carte which we didn't want. Drove into Rotorua instead and found a great Irish pub.

T.The hotel is in a beautiful location on the shore of Lake Rotoiti, about 15kms from Rotorua city centre. Bush walks are nearby and mountain bikes are available at the Resort. Any question we had they were more then happy to answer and they went out of their way to cater to anything we requested.

A.Free WiFi provided here is Nearly equal to none. It provide free standard 150MB or 1GB free if you login by facebook. I login with my FB a/c so I have 1GB free. My wife just take the 150MB free offer. Both of us was suddenly being log out by the system and said we need to cool down and can be able to login again after 22 hours. Since we stay here only for one night that mean we will be log out for the rest of our stay. When I check my usage just one minute before I being kick out by the system my usage remain are 812MB! That mean they only provide 188MB instead of what they said 1GB. The cool down period is un-reasonablely long. For my wife she also need to cool down after checking only a few all word only email.

E.I've came to VR resort (formerly Amora, Duxton) for the past eight years in a row, and it is a great escape from home! But this year (2015) it was a bit unorganised.. Anyway Great Staff and Great quality.
