J.
Good basic accommodation in the city. We opted for private room with shared bathroom. The place is a little run down but the price per night reflects that. Front staff were really nice, even let us check in a little early. Beds were comfy enough. Could have been a little cleaner, window latches in our bedroom and bathroom were stiff/broken.
S.
Easy access and welcoming staff great service and Clean Rooms I stayed 4 nights in a single room with shared bathroom such a low price. This place is near to everything Harbor(Ferry), Sky Stadium, Train Station, Bus Stops, Shopping centers, restaurants. Can reach anywhere in Wellington and come back without any problem. Street Parking is available at night or you can get paid Parking just a block away where you will get discount as a guest in Waterloo Hotel.

It's cheap so don't expect much, you got what you've paid for. The room is pretty clean for it's price. I've stayed for 2 nights and nothing was missing from my room as I had a single room with shared bathroom. But maybe they need to make a door key in between bedroom and shared bathroom. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I have stayed at the Waterloo twice now..two nights Christmas 2020 and two nights Christmas 2021, this was to be close to son in town and to the ferry. Has been interesting reading the reviews, each time I stayed I had a single en suite room and was very impressed both times. There were little downsides but at such a great price it doesn't matter especially as the negatives were so minor. The room/s were spotlessly clean, shower a bit difficult to get in and out of but once in was perfect. Basin is good height, mirror is good and thankfully just a normal mirror rather than them thinking you want to see all of yourself all of the time. Top window could open with bit of encouragement. TV reception was excellent but only on what could be accessed.. no tv 1 and 2 or Prime, had it's own loop of 3 and 8 and a couple of others but reception was better than I have encountered in other places. Power point for turning on jug and microwave bit difficult to reach behind but once on it's ok. Biggest problem was the doorkey which was temperamental after many efforts on the 2nd night I gave up and got help from the staff member who was very good. He had assured he was on duty 24 hours which is good to know. I haven't had any trouble staying in the ensuite room, when I have come back at night there have been some men around the front door or in the foyer but I haven't encountered anything unpleasant. Staff have been good both years. For what I paid I believe I got more than my money would suggest and I would stay again.

Good option for people who looking a place to stay in Wellington. Best location, near city and bus hub, but no free car park. Affordable price with average quality of room services. But the WiFi not really good in some rooms, also they don't have consistency on the standard of the facilities for the rooms. Such as hair dryer, towels and extra blanket. Some of rooms have it but some not.
A.
Pretty good.Just didn't like the restaurant took to long to order my food and only git it ordered by mistake because young Indian waiter came out of the toilet as he past me asked if I was alright I said to him I was waiting for someone to take my order and the only time some other waitress came over to me was when I was ready to pay so the Duke restaurant not for me price for the food to expensive never go back there again.
P.
I stayed in a single room and it was comfy and clean as well as the shared bathroom. I didn't check the facilities as I only stayed 1 night
m.
Perfect location. Competitive price for Wgtn. Decor is tired & staff (ie the 1 I experienced) not v enthusiastic with customer service
F.
Welcoming all amenities available rooms clean tidy. Allowances for disabilities. From backpacking to other. Restaurant/Coffee bar on site. Great place with interesting history. Check out wall carpet in lift.
Nearby...Subway/McD's/Sushi Outlet/Station supermarket/Station food outlets/
Nothing to limited close parking...Ask at desk.

I visited on June 25th till the 27th. I was impressed with how close everything is. The staff were amazing. I loved the shared kitchen on the first floor. It convenient and perfect for those who like affordable then expensive. However the only reason your not getting 5 stars is because your website said theirs sky tv in the room. I stayed in a room with a bathroom and a tv. I turned on the TV. I was surprised there's no Sky. Please don't advertise that you have SKY TV when you don't.
S.
Wonderful place to stay warm bit noisy but depending on which room your in tidy and comfortable
M.
Paid a bargain price for a room that went above and beyond. The phrase 'you get what you paid for' applies here, but in a good way. The room was as comfortable as advertised, in a great location opposite the Wellington railway station. If you're a budget traveler just wanting a place to sleep at night, this is a great place to stay
M.
Nice enough, subway downstairs, helpful and nice staff. Clear that alot of effort is made to clean up after any drunk shenanigans.
Room was clean and large with good shower. Weirdly no fridge though? Did have a microwave which is good I guess. Very well situated next to train and ferry terminals, I 100% reccomend this for travellers transiting to picton via train to ferry.
D.
I stayed here for two nights at the beginning of August in one of the backpacker dorms.
The service I got was good. I didn't get the names of either receptionist, but they were both kind and professional, and helpful when the key card played up. Good service on their part.
The geography is a double-edged sword. It's not too far from some good tourist spots and you got a few places to eat out not too far away. But being close to busy streets make it a bit difficult to sleep at night.
The rooms do the job, but they could definitely use renovation and updating, especially the shared bathroom. Bedding was fine. I've seen other reviewers complain about lack of pillowcases or sheets, but not the case for me. Though I do wish I'd asked for another.
Overall, some good parts about staying here, and some that aren't so great.
S.
Easy location for ferry's and trains, eaterys accessible and check in was easy. Sticky elevators felt like a pub floor, likely from drunk guests spilling drinks but was quickly cleaned up by the following morning.
J.
It was good value for money, but it did not feel hygienic and the bed was uncomfortable.
H.
About our 4th stay here. Convenience to Bluebridge Ferry. Except for rm 219(excessively hot) especially during summer visit. We know what to expect since being a backpackers but have tended to get clean, comfotable beds in our rooms. And I work for a Motel so basically getting what I pay for. Always have Dbl/twin rooms too...today. Love that its nice and warm.
N.
Room was nice and clean, however strong smoke smell which made me feel nauseous. Rooms are cold -old oil heater mounted to walls can't be adjusted. Broken window pane glued together. Loud banging sounds from other residents accessing back …
R.
After staying at some 5 star resorts I have to come back and rerate this place for its character, because that is its strength.
S.
Different to what I normally stay in. Room had a double and single bed on the hotel side. Bathroom on the small side, quite adequate for our stay. Duck for shower, only if you are tall. Toilet very tight to sit on. Clean and tidy. Central to everything. Used the car park they recommend for $18 a night. This was ok, but very tight going around the corners up and down. I would stay again, if nothing else was available. Reception staff friendly.
I.
3 night stay. Spacious room, good location, comfy bed and quality sheets, helpful staff good value for money, character, free wifi. Negatives: no blockout curtains really impacted my ability to sleep as too much light at night... V tight toilet spot. No Powerplug near mirror (for hairdryer).
R.
They left me to my own devices, which is what I liked. But overall the staff are great.
The cards were bad, like the access cards. They seen to go all faulty when you use them at first but go good like a few days later.
B.
Slept in a 3-bed room. Beds in a good condition, clean. Reception gives great services. Conveniently situated at the station. Only one downside: noise from traffic below. Booking easy on line. Very affordable.
T.
Staff were A++
Had an early leave for the Bluebridge Ferry to Picton. Room was extremely affordable and spotless. Central and based opposite to the Train/ Bus station.
For our 6 hour visit, we were in a mixed dorm and it was really warm and inviting.
HIGHLY Recommend x
C.
The place is quite dated and basic, the room really smells old and needs a bit of shake and vac on the carpet. The shower and bathroom were pretty decent inside the 6bed dorm. The laundry was good, and so was the breakfast which we got included in our tour. The kitchen was quite disgusting unfortunately, washing up stacked and dirty plates etc everywhere, the fridge smelled quite badly and needed to be deep cleaned. But the place has a nice big communal room where you can stretch out on big sofas so that was nice. There was a restaurant attached but the food there was quite small for the price. The location was very good and close to mcdonalds etc. There was also the option to stay long term for a decent price here so i think those rooms were probably a lot nicer. It was quiet at night aside from traffic, no noise from other rooms etc.
p.
It's a very good price and central with lots of cheap food options close to hand. So I'll still give 3 stars rating.
Shared 20 person dorm it smelled very bad. 2 plug sockets for entire dorm. 1 of the showers was semi functional at best. Looks like they took decorating tips from 50's East German Police barracks. No real hostal vibe or fun about the place.
Staff were nice and helpful.
V.
Really nice room, clean tidy. The bathroom was surprisingly modern, great shower. Really helpful staff especially the young woman on the desk. Close to all the bars, restaurants and shopping. Will definitely come again
B.
Close to ferry. Cheap accommodation. Very dated and old but priced accordingly.
A.
The Hotel is very nice for backpackers. Nice living room, free pool from 7pm and large kitchen. Be careful when talking to the girls at reception, they are very often rude and don't seem like they wanna help you. The location of the hostel is next to central station so it's easy to reach.
N.
Some of the rooms are good. The kitchen is sorely lacking. It is cleaned properly every day b it is not looked after by anyone using it. It would help if they took out the drying racks and enforced cleaning standards. Food bins are well organized tho.
A.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and tidy. Our check in was delayed due to the area being busy because of a cricket match but overall the service was good. Only thing missing was a fridge in the room, all the other essentials were there, including bedding and toiletries.
C.
It was a nice, clean room we booked. Well maintained. Really good central location, especially for those using the Bluebridge Ferry. Would stay again next time we're in Wellington.
S.
Cheap and cheerful. Had a 6 bed female dorm which was fine. Beds are simplistic and not the most comfortable and the kitchen is a bit dirty and they don't allow alcohol in communal areas. But it did everything we needed
D.
Had a great stay! Staff were helpful. Location is near train station and museums. Room was a good sized with clean shared bathroom. Kitchen reasonably clean.
M.
It's a great location but it seemed so old and rough and needs a lot of improvement.
I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom. It was so loud, an air conditioning or fan unit was whirling for hours and went quiet at night.
The shared kitchen was massive but the fridge was absolutely disgusting. It smelt foul and I saw someone had left carbonara in an open pan in a box in the fridge and it looked really gross. Guests also used dishes and left them for someone else to wash despite it saying to wash your own dishes. And the dishes I found on the shelf that were washed, were still full of food stains.
Overall I would not go back here. My child got very sick after staying here and I can only imagine it was from that kitchen.
R.
The place is clean but obviously a hotel short on guests cashing in on backpackers.
As such you get the hotel experience with warm dorms with nice beds.
Mid-high price but you'll know why.
WiFi great if you don't abuse it and location isn't bad either.
Staff really nice and nightly deals on drinks.
Breakfast not included but only $10
J.
Cheap basic place to stay. Stayed in one of the single rooms with a share bathroom, place could do with some modernising (particularly the bathroom) but was clean and for the price would happily stay again.
H.
The best about this hotel is that the room have a heater. This is the warmest place i'd stay in winter. Also love the strategic location. It is just opposite the railway station and intercity bus station and it is walking distance to many attractions. Room and bathroom are clean. It also has a big kitchen for backpackers that want to cook. However, poor soundproof is the minus point as noise made by occupants next door can be clearly heard.
P.
It is in a convenient location close to all transportation whether you are traveling near or far by bus, train or ferry i give that a 5-star rating. It is based on shared facilities & utilities, depending on the price you paid for the room will depend on what kind of room you get an old stlye mixed match room or an updated one that you see on the website (depending on how true that is, i do not know), don't let the website fool you, what you see in the photos attached is what you don't see on the website, I wasn't to sure if it was an Art Deco Decor because it was mixed matched with different furnishing, the bathrooms were art deco this was the only exciting part about that art deco era, apart from the shower in the art deco bath that was chipped, if it was art deco throughout then i do not mind paying the extra $100-150per night BUT it was what i was looking for somewhere cheap to sleep, not flash but i didn't realise it was going to be that disorganised, because the website shows something different.
J.
Pretty sure it's haunted, the closet door opened by itself and there was a knock at my door when nobody was there but otherwise it was clean and comfortable. Great location
J.
Just a basic backpackers. Rooms are dated and could do with a refresh. Bathrooms are the same. Bar and Restaurant area are good though. Location is great for travellers as they're close to trains, buses and ferrys. Essentially it's the type of place where you get what you pay for.
M.
This hotel is an good place for people who are travelling by train into Wellington and are looking for budget accommodations. The hotel is across the street from the train station so it was easy for me to find and arrive at. I stayed in the 20 bed dorm for 1 night before switching to the single room with a shared bathroom (the pictures I posted are from the single room and not the 20 bed dorm). Obviously the 20 bed dorm room was crowded but the bed was comfortable and I slept well. I liked the single room with a shared bathroom better. The room was small but clean and had a tv when I was not touring the city (Wellington is a lovely city with a nice harbor- the Wellington Museum and Parliament tour were both very enjoyable and as I recall both were free). I slept well and the room was quiet. The hotel is a bit dated but I liked the retro art deco design and the location was excellent. The customer service overall was good. The kitchen was a little messy and they have 2 computers in the common area which were free to use if you wanted to access the internet (they were kind of slow but they worked). Also they have a bar and small cafe that serves food downstairs (a Mcdonalds is very close to the hotel if you wanted a cheaper option for food). Overall, a good value for a budget traveler.
L.
This is a good Hotel to stay at. The facilities are clean and functional. I love the lifts here even if modernized because they have an epic sounding motor. Even if the Hotel is old and in need of an upgrade, it is a must visit. Bit of a pity I couldn't ride the service lift but The main lifts were just as Epic. Even if modernized. Basically great Hotel and great lifts.
A.
We stayed in a 4-bed mixed dorm and it was amazing. There is a private bathroom in the room. Everything is clean and neat. Staff is friendly. The hostel building is quite cool too.
D.
It's a nice place to stay in a backpacker hostel. 24 hours a day can stay. I have been to this place twice. The first experience is a triple room including a toilet and a bathing place. The place is big and there is a TV. The second time is Bunk bed two person room. One shared toilet. But the toilet is very old. So we use the disabled toilet to bathe outside. It feels more sanitary.
C.
Great location, friendly staff, rooms always clean and have all the basics. Have stayed here a few times and would definitely come back.
T.
I stayed in a 6 bed room dorm and for the prices it was well worth it to be close to the ferries, stations, and not too far from town. A very easy stop to catch the bus, train, taxi or uber. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but I gave it a 4 star because there is a private bathroom for the room and I thought that was pretty nice. 1 GB of free wifi and 24 hour reception.
S.
Pretty decent backpackers. They have lift which is rare to see. The location is right by the train station which is really convenient. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. The 20 key deposit is rather rediculous for something that probably costs 5 cents. The kitchen wasn't great.
M.
Probably the best budget accommodation available in Wellington, aging and a little out of town, but well run. Great quality and fast 1Gig Free WiFi per day per device. Proper classic white linen just the way I like it. Passing traffic can be noisy. Would be great if signs to trucks not to use exhaust brakes in the vicinity were implemented. Spacious reception, lounge and dining room. Nearby fast food. Sanitary soap provided in the rooms. Long term stays available too. Very convenient access to the Railway station, Busses, Coaches and the Blue bridge ferry. Convenient Super Market across the road in the station building.
M.
Cheap and affordable. Think they need to check rooms a little more thoroughly, as I've stay three times and found rubbish in room, dirty teaspoons? Dirty water in sink? Stained bed cover. Honestly it is very close to all amenaties, warm and cozy, very close to bluebridge sailing. But. Sorry Hotel Waterloo I'd give you a 4 star if the above was done
G.
Hi everyone.hotel waterloo is top beyond five gold stars to be honest.the location for a start.across the road is the wellington station for local arrival of trains also long-distance trains & buses leave from this location.then also across the road from the hotel waterloo is the arrival & departure of the blue ridge ferry trips from wellington to Picton or Picton to wellington.the hotel waterloo is walking distance to queens wharf entertainment zone of bars & cafes.also she'd 6 event venue & shows regularly.hotel waterloo it self.clean.affordable.fantastic mealsin cafe on first floor.queench your thirst on ground floor bar the duke.enjoy
K.
Comfortable beds, good service and value for money. The only downside was that the cook took a break during breakfast hours (which are from 7 am) and we got there at 9am and we had to wait 20 min. We were in a hurry and were late for our appointment. If checkout is at 10, most people will come for breakfast before then, so staff should take a break after service.
M.
Price was cheapest in Wellington!
Room was warm and clean!I stayed in a single shared bathroom
Level 1 was fantastic! I was greeted by the food and beverage manager Sara who has the best customer service! Very helpful notified me of all there daily specials. Sara also helped by explaining what beers and wine they sold! As Im not familiar with the craft beers of new zealand even allowed me to taste them too! My meal a 200gm steak was cooked to perfection and at a bargin price! Breakfast was a bargain price also
Ill be back for sure!
S.
Loved it... though very dated... various staff were very helpful especially the late shift staff member who helped direct us to food @ 1.40am lols. Rooms were tidy and well presented. Bathroom was awesome. Loved the deep bath... Cafe staff were amazing... Only thing we found was we didnt know about the cafe until it was too late... not well advertise...
A.
A wonderful place to stay. Very central to all transport. The Railway station is over the road, and the Bluebridge ferry terminal is right there as well. The service we received was excellent, as was the restaurant on the ground floor.
P.
Great vibe, excellent and helpful staff members. I had 12 suitcases and 2 of their team helped me with my bags. You guys rock!
B.
NICE ACCOMODATION FOR BACK PACKER & HOLIDAY VACATIONERS
H.
Lovely old building - insides are a little dated but still comfortable and bar/kitchen in good nick. Good location. Staff helpful, food decent quality and value. Beds comfy. I would come here again
M.
Staff were friendly, convenient location, bar and cafe on-site. Massive kitchen and walk-in fridge was nice. Rooms were clean, although could use a deep clean. Overall great place, I would stay again.
M.
Had a fantastic stay here and I will be back
R.
Really good rooms, Awesome kitchen and all friendly staffs.
The beds needs a little bit of improvement or fixing. It's kinda like making sound each time we move or turn around.
Rest everything 5/5
N.
At first a little different Backpacker, because it still has the feeling of an old nice Hotel. But being there some days longer, showed me some bad things also. My room was totally over filled. 10 Bunker Beds and at some times even a matrace at the floor. Also the Showers were really dirty and way to small.
J.
Needs to improve on several aspects: bedrooms are a bit too small and usually smelly. My mattres was flat, i could touch the bed with my back. Bath didnt use enough water. The bar and the restaurant areas are nice but the atmosphere wasnt very lively.
W.
Everything was great. Very comfortable beds, very spacious room. Enjoyed my stay, thank you.
A.
Perfect for what we needed - an cheap clean place to lay our heads for a few hours. If you’re looking for a basic and cheap backpackers then this place is really handy to town and the stadium. We had a 3 person room to ourselves. Friendly staff.
A.
Reasonable place for the price. A bit old and dingy, but has large common areas that rarely get too crowded. My only major gripe is that they insist on blasting Top 40 radio in the large common area and kitchen 24/7. This is especially annoying in the kitchen - no one wants to be forced to listen to club beats when making breakfast. I think I'd give this place another star if they turned off the damn music.
W.
Place felt good. I took a twin room, consisted of a set of bunks and shared bathroom. Very central.big cafe area for guests you can order set menus it use the guest kitchen to cook.
S.
Great place to stay. Staff were lovely. Service was amazing. Housekeeping was superb. Rooms can overheat and if you open the window outside noise can be very loud.
D.
Stayed here for two nights on the weekend while in town visiting friends. Was tossing up between here and nomads but art deco is cool so went with this one. Stayed in a single room (shared bathroom). Bed was suprisingly comfy, room was tidy, and all in all the facilities were pretty good. Got everything I expected for the price and would stay again.
B.
I didn't find it too bad staying here as our room was renovated. However I disliked that we were placed in a room which had a shared ensuite with another room. If we were staying one or two nights this would have been ok but we stayed for over a week. As the bathroom didn't have a working lockable door either it was a bit discomforting sharing it
D.
Wonderful place. Have stayed here twice on our trip. Once in a double room - AMAZING!! The other in one of the long stay rooms and that was a great price for how central you are in Wellington!!
Staff are wonderful, the bar is so handy and the place is sooooo clean 😁😁
Thanks guys!!
ᛒ.
Free wifi? you have to pay for it by the hour, $3!
What kind of ass is that? there is free wifi in the cbd, everywhere in the cbd, its not that good, but its better than $3 bucks an hour.
The cleaning lady came in to check the room I was in and she made off with my towel and never came back!
The shower, the walls were horrible, but the shower was awesome and made up for all that I felt was lacking, the bed was fkn comfortable, and I slept through the night without waking up. I had a view of the wall of the building next door.. but the window opened and the air was fresh...
And the shower.. yes again I talk about the shower, but I kid you not, after a day without showering, it was like a wet heaven. I didnt go around the hostel much to check the rest of the things out, because I went to the library to play with the free wifi... the actual free wifi. I recommend this place, if you want a good nights sleep and a great shower!
O.
Snappy checkin and checkout. Room had a tv with about 30 channels. It still has its old style interior. My room shared a bathroom and bath with another room which requires another door to enter so that others can’t use the bathroom without the key. Like the sink inside the room and a good view of the train station. It is just across the street from the train station and next to a Macdonalds. It was quiet too. There is a restaurant downstairs with bar and other amenities.
R.
If you don't have a car this hostel is pretty good. Not the cleanest or newest but for $26 for a 6bed dorm, it's pretty good. Location is the main plus here. You're directly opposite the bus/train terminal and walking distance from the ferry.
Also, the little bar and lounge area serves cooked food which is pretty rare for a hostel.
S.
Good room, price reasonable for quality of building. Clean no odd smells. Only issues were light duvet on bed and heating stopped in middle of night. Woke up cold.
T.
Good value. Clean. Location good too. Will definitely return, as accommodation costs have definitely risen in the last couple of years. I looked everywhere for accommodation and nothing was available in our location or budget
T.
A 3 is as good as this place gets they have permanent people thete an us visitors get a ho hum attention from any staff there the beds are terrible grimy tired decor so yep
J.
Excellent facilities, friendly staff, and brilliant beds. The location is convenient - next to the train station and just 10 minutes walk to Cuba Street. The bar and lounge are astounding - couldn't ask for better amenities!
B.
Well presented, tidy, smells good, cheap... But I woke up covered in flea bites.
G.
Lovely staff and service. Dishes were tasty. The negative was the loud music. Our group struggled to hear each other.
D.
For the backpacker prices they charge this place is a dream. I was at another hostel which was filthy and noisy and packed with people, here was amazing, and they provide a towel as well (in my 3-bed room en suite). Good central location and excellent friendly staff with a nice cafe on the 1st floor.
M.
It's not nearly as nice as the places we stayed in outside of big cities, but this made sense for a city hotel/hostel. The outside is impressive, but the inside is pretty dingy and run-down. The room contained 2 bunked beds and a desk. The carpet was a bit old, as was the bedframe, but the beds seemed clean enough. There were 3 inner doors off a shared little atrium area with a door from the main hall. The doors went to 2 guest rooms and a shared bathroom with an impressive freestanding bathtub.
You need a key to get into the building at night. It's nice there's security, although it didn't seem hard to tailgate in. The "free wifi" only means an hour, but it was per device, so it was sufficient. There's an elevator, although it's ancient. There are lockers for storing bags, and it was maybe $4-6 NZD to store bags for several hours. The place is completely unimpressive, but it gets 3 stars because of the location, which is very convenient: it's right across the street from the Bluebridge Ferry terminal, and right down the street from all of the government buildings. It's maybe a 20-30-minute walk to Te Papa. It's very walkable to places to eat. There was a decent amount of metered street parking around and available.
J.
My stay was fantastic.. clean tidy room..very comfortable bed.. wonderful friendly staff. Helpful as. Definitely staying again. Only problem was small window didn't shut completely so abit of a cold breeze but wonderful all the same. Booked my next stay yesterday! Thankyou staff at Waterloo see you in October! 😊
K.
Great value for money, functional backpackers. Not many pots in the kitchen, and kitchen can be busy during meal times, but eating area was great and enjoyed free pool and darts between 4 and 7pm :)
T.
The room was decent and comfortable but the bathroom was really old and had mould in the tub. The guy at the reception was a bit cranky but the price for this place was decent.
S.
Not to shabby. Nice clean room and bathroom with helpful reception staff. Very close to the Thai Embassy which is why I chose this facility
H.
Place is well set up but needs some upgrading in areas stayed in 2 bunk room but know wardrobe of any sort how do u unpack for a weeks stay shared bathroom that's ok but needed to be upgraded functional but run down
Y.
Helpful staff, large lobby and kitchen, very convenient location if you need to catch a ferry next day. The only problem i had was that wifi wasn't working well in my room.
m.
Cheap and you get what you pay for, but the single rooms are pretty decent and reasonable price.
E.
Price, and location opposite rail station cbd, both excellent. Supermarket in rail station building awesome selection of food for those with allergies as well as general public, a short distance from waterfront with loads cafes restaurants
R.
Was a nice place to stop by for a bite to eat. Close to Bluebridge Terminal easy walking distance as straight across the road. I will go back one day as their Shredded Pork Bun is Yummy I definitely recommend.
A.
We attended the Wellington Food Show at the Westpac Stadium. This accomodation venue was the closest and very reasonbly priced. We had a bit of a wiring issue with the 230 volt outlets not working. It turns out Zarina the receptionist and part time Rocket Scientist / Electrician came up stairs armed with only with a wiring diagram and a positive attitude and fixed the problem in about ten minutes. A great effort and much appreciated. Thank you.
p.
Value for money....that is the essence of this hotel/backpackers...not the Ritz...but an awesome choice to stay if your budget is not so big...clean , great staff...and well run....I seldom give 4 stars , but I have no hesitation to do so...in-house restaurant and bar have very reasonable prices...a well appointed kitchen to use if you want to cook your own food...laundry facilities and WiFi.... provided... another bonus is that a supermarket is just 150m away.... I enjoyed my stay there , and would love to visit again...
S.
Lovely place to stay
Friendly staff
A.
The rooms were clean, some of the windows didn't open or close which was a minor pain at night, as it is quite windy. The common room had plenty to offer as well as the bar.
H.
Nice enough for a night. Nothing special. Booked the double ensuite, wouldn't say it was worth the $120. Room was not made up when we checked, was inconvienient but resolved by staff quickly.
M.
I stayed in a single room with a shared bathroom.
It was fine.
Super close to the railway station and ferry terminals. That's the main feature.
A.
The staff are friendly and helpful but the rooms aren't that great.. am sharing a twin with my partner and it is a bunk bed, which I wasn't really expecting.. there were stains on my bed sheets and hairs all over my bed.. the room I really warm and there is no fan.. I thought it was good that they had a bar and cafe in the building and the noise from there never disturbed us in our room, the prices were reasonable as well.. it's an okay place but probably wouldn't choose to stay there again
P.
The reason we accommodated in Hotel Waterloo and Backpackers is because it's the cheapest we could find. The location is also is nearby the town so we have easier access yo shops and malls which we could get to by walking. The rooms are alright provided by toilet and bathroom.
S.
Conveniently located near downtown. Nice and quiet and a good restaurant within the building. Generous serving portion too. Rooms clean and comfortable and helpful front desk.

Didn't stay the night used the luggage locker in foyar and the restaurant who ch was satisfactory for breakfast.Have stayed in the past cheap clean love the old place and so handy train and ferry could stop being mean and give it high five...
A.
Great friendly and helpful team. Great location next to trains, buses and ferry terminals. A few food options around area. Great spot to branch out to all areas of wellington city from.
A.
Nice huge hostel.
Centrally located near the railway station. Rooms are clean, staff are nice.
Double room with shared bathroom costs 72$. The room has a table and an electric cetle
v.
Some if the beds are in good and some of them are in real bad state. Hopefully management will look into it and change them. Otherwise it's really a very good place with all facilities.
J.
Bloody awesome transit stay. Next time in Wellington I will probably stay here again. Staff were the BEST. Helped me with everything I possibly needed. 5 star service and beyond.
M.
Great place, been there twice and it's worth every cent. The building is quite old and to me it must be hard to maintain, yet the team's manager must be a rockstar, because the place always looks neat. Well done.
L.
Wont stay anywhere else since finding out about this place. Across the road from trains, bus transport, also shuttle bus to Interislander Ferry. Reasonable priced accommodation to suit different budgets, great meals, a bar, games room, huge tv room, well stocked kitchen with pots, utensils, crockery, etc. if you want to prep. your own food, computers to use, etc.
A.
Great bar and common room - well worth visiting if you’re new to Wellington, even if you’re not staying in the hostel.
Rooms in the hostel are a little old, but acceptable.
m.
Good value for Money, room was a good size. Staff at desk were great older hotel so a little noisy but central location is great.
B.
The rooms are cheap, warm, dry and comfy.
But DONT use the pub next door for meals....they are a rip off ! 😡
n.
Cool staff, the lady at the counter is very helpful and they all go above and beyond to make your stay with them enjoyable and stress free, 10 out of 10.
C.
Reasonably good hostel. Comfortable rooms at a nice price. WiFi was slow and limited but worked. Great location near the Beehive and center of Wellington.
C.
Service was helpful, room was awesome great view 405 ,I could see my truck in carpark..
u.
Every time I am in Wellington I stay in this backpacker and they never disappoint me..The rooms are nice and big and tidy as well, washrooms are cleaned everyday, guest sitting area is big and amazing, kitchen area is big and one can cook anytime even if so many people's are there..thanks to the burners as there are so many there..overall a nice experience..close to railway station, walking distance from Wellington downtown, Countdown, New World
l.
Probably your best option for budget accommodation option that is sufficiently close to the stadium. A bit run down as you would expect but well priced for Wellington City.
Good Friday night buzz if you're interested in having a drink at the bar.
M.
Kool az good sleep very close to the Ferry for us the nxt morning 👍
H.
Was nice clean d tidy, parking your car a bit of an issue & can be expensive as no on site parking, maybe a hook in the rooms as to hang clothes on would be handy but otherwise great handy location
G.
It's a decent pub that does decent pub food and drink for decent prices. The staff are friendly, and there is a relaxed atmosphere. They also hire out the venue for very reasonable prices.
F.
Great. I always stay there when in Wellington. Very clean, reasonable rates
K.
Central location and so close to the ferry terminal and train station with many food outlets and supermarkets close at hand. Accommodation was reasonable, unfortunately the elevator wasn't working while I stayed.
P.
Interesting art deco features in big hostel. Clean, central but guests do not keep kitchen tidy
S.
Lovely friendly staff on the 24hr reception desk with a wonderfully helpful housekeeping crew!!
A.
Perfect budget accomidation when your flying in and out. Had everything we needed and comfortable for the price while still in good walking distance to everything in the city and the waterfront :)
T.
Was looking for a place to relax and eat after a long bus ride, stumbled on it. Surprisingky good breakfast and coffee. Location is also convenient (near docks, shops, station).
A.
Very clean. People stole our food though. I wouldn't suggest you take the kids there either because people where just getting drunk in the common room. It got little dangerous
P.
Good location! If you need to get the train earlier in the morning.
A.
It was economical and cozy.good location. All the facilities were good.
N.
Pretty dodgy but it did the trick
C.
We constantly, almost weekly, use this Hotel and with our small Son many times. Highly recommend it. Central, clean and comfy.
K.
Great budget hotel.
15mimutes walking to city centre.
Great value for money.
I.
NO FREE WIFI. I tryed to use the one our free WiFi but it didn't work either. Good staff, big kitchen and lounge. Cheap with bbh room with bathroom.

T.
Great location and value! Definitely would stay again!
J.
Its a good spot to stay short term for people on a budget, convenient and location to find. Its within the heart of Wellington city.
E.
It's a great low cost option. Close to buses and the water front. Only downside is lack of power point close to bed. Otherwise, no complaints!
M.
Nice room clean loby is not in best condition can do better but Duke of welington have nice menu for lunch or diner but stuff is avarage for such nice place
M.
Really big kitchen, everything is clean and organised, staff is exceptional and even though it was a 20 bed dorm it's quite quiet.
L.
Very handy luggage lockers, quite useful when you have big bags to lug about and time to kill while waiting for a coach/train.
e.
fantastic accomadation. friendly staff and helpful. lovely room and great site for all you want to do. Go there, I am going back soon
J.
Central location, spacious kitchen and good amenities! However poor service at reception, disorganised in the kitchen with essential gear missing
M.
So it's cheap and everything but the rooms are very small and not lit properly. Buffet selection for continental breakfast was good however.
M.
For a backpackers its 5 star. But it's still a budget place. Staff are great and the food is fairly priced
B.

B.
The 24 hour reception is very handy. Bed was rather uncomfy but otherwise everything was great.
J.
Nice Hostel, nice Staff, clean place, but the 20 bed room is a bit too overpacked and loud (slim windows direktly to the street) The kitchen seems a bit messy.
A.
Best reception service ever!! I’ve been everywhere and the team at Hotel Waterloo was amazing. Went above and beyond with the service. Especially the receptionist named Zarina
J.
Ferry 11 PM arrival. No bus North until morning so yeah, across the street from train station, turn left, on the corner. McD's downstairs.
C.
Located nice but eating room is wiered because you share it with a restaurant therefore alcohol is not allowed. WiFi is extremely expensive.
J.
Nothing flash but it's clean tidy staff are helpful. Definitely stay again and I am not a young backpack er
L.
Inexpensive lodging in a faded Grand Deco Beauty. Excellent location directly across from the Wellington train station and right up the road from the ferry.

Cheap and cheerful. Most importantly it's clean and very central. Second visit and I would definitely return.

The beds were thin and it is a very noisy area from the traffic noise. However, it is cheaper if you stay for a week.
J.
