I have been to Bennetts many times but this is my first review. The place looks lovely with all the olive trees at the entrance. Their chocolates are fantastic and staff are very friendly and helpful.

You definitely have to stop on this cafe between Auckland going to Whangarei or somewhere north and try their chocolate, and eat at their rustic and well presented cafe! So much choices for the chocs, definitely a haven for chocoholics like me! Cafe downside is when it gets too much busy, you might need to wait a bit longer for your orders to arrive. Nonetheless, highly recommended place at Mangawhai!

We came here daily 3 days in a row. The food was a hit for breakfast on all 3 days. Absolutely loved their version of French toast. The cabinet food was also declicious. I loved the creamed rice and sandwiches and pretty much everything we ordered. The highlight was the hot chocolate where they give you a bar of Benetts chocolate. This magically melts in the drink and makes it even more divine. Would come back here again and tell everyone about it. Worth the drive and stopping by. Best to go Early morning on weekends to avoid crowds so you can get a good seat. Their set up is great and the service is brilliant.

You guys do such an amazing job, awesome food, excellent coffee and service BUT the dog thing …. Why are we relegated to such a small and isolated area? Get ready to wait if you come at the peak hour. We came on Sunday at 11am. Only the part before the entrance (not the patio) are dog friendly. And quite a few people are keen on this spot. So you just got to wait. Wait for food was also around 40 mins, but to be fair, we were warned. Staff is supernice, despite being crazy busy and overwhelmed. Get the signature hot chocolate and the croissant. Great combo!

I’m from America doing a road trip around the north island of NZ. We found this place online and decided to give it a try. The weather was perfect, so we decided to sit outside. The courtyard is nicely decorated and comfortable. The service was fantastic, and the burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! If you are hungry, you have to come here for lunch. I highly recommend this place.

This is a must place to go to when you are visiting the lovely place of Mangawhai heads. The place itself makes it a big part of their community, locals gather here for breakfast as it is close to the market during weekends. The food was great and the chocolates were fantastic, the people were all lovely. We always make sure to drop by here whenever in Mangawhai.

I only went for a coffee and chocolate and was no dissapointed at all! Chocolates are amazing (you can buy them next door to the cafe and they also have a nice selection of wines), and the coffee is absolutely amazing. One of the best coffees I've had for sure! I didnt have a proper meal but the food looked and smelled amazing and people seemed to be very happy. The decoration of the place is nice and the staff are very helpful! I'm definitely coming back and highly recommend . Just keep in mind that this place is very popular when you go there on long weekends as there are many visitors and waiting times can be long.

Beautiful shop and kind staff. Great selection. Only reason for three stars is they are not FAIR TRADE. With a place that’s bringing in as much revenue as Bennett’s, the least they can do is make sure their cocoa is ethically sourced. Disappointed.

Awesome place to visit. The building itself is so lovely. The chocolate shop is very accommodating, with lovely staff and a huge array of different chocolates. There are taste testers which were lovely and such a selection of tiny chocolates to choose separately. The cafe is also very lovely, with a huge choice of cabinet food and lovely staff who are very helpful. They also have a store on the left that has some amazing gift ideas and lovely eco options. Overall a really nice place to go on a Saturday after the markets, or after you've spent a long day at the beach and need your chocolate fix.

Beautiful, rustic chocolate shop and factory. You can look through the windows at the back of the shop and see the artists at work. Fairly reasonable price considering the amount of work and skill needed in this job. Also stockists of some wines, because that's what you need when eating fancy chocolate! Lovely little cafe next door aswell if you fancy a bite to eat.

The chocolates are excellent. You can often sample chocolate and watch it being made in the factory through a window. The shop is beautiful and the entrance through indoor and outdoor courtyards is lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. Mangawhai is Magical and Bennetts of Mangawhai is one of those reasons. The architectural design transports you to the Mediterranean and they display their history...including their expertise in chocolate making...with pride. Walking into the shop you are immediately taken aback by the beauty of chocolate-right through the store to the open glassed area where all the magic of chocolate making is on display. Tasting platters of choc tidbits as well as pairing wines are introduced to you by knowledgeable & friendly staff with affordable pricing. Certainly a pleasure and we will be back!!

I love when I get to update a previously poor review. I recently commented on poor service, average food, and the fact that you could not order salmon with your eggs Benedict. However I think these guys have had a recent revamp, and they've improved on most of these points. The breakfast menu is still quite ordinary, however they are now serving lovely soft smoked salmon on the eggs Benedict! I had gotten used to the fact that the coffee was always a little bitter here, but today's was spot on. Happy to see an improvement keep up the good work!

These masters of their trade are the creators of what is the most perfect peppermint chocolate I've had in my life. Anyone who knows me, will realise the extent of this claim. I've eaten chocolate around the world from the most distinguished of chocolatiers, but the thick and creamy peppermint ganache encased within that thick, delicate dark chocolate shell is quite possibly the most perfect blend of dark chocolate, peppermint and cream I've ever had. Now I'm aware of the fact that not everyone appreciates a peppermint chocolate the way I do, but if you can master it this well, chances are you've got a pretty good handle on the craft. There are plenty of other flavours, textures, patterns, swirls and colours to try. Treat yourself to a box. 10 chocolates of your choice for $22. May be a bit pricey for some, but if you consider yourself somewhat of a chocolate connoisseur, then it might very well be worth it.
