Absolutely enjoyed visiting Rippon, for us it was the perfect rainy afternoon “activity”! We booked in on the website half an hour prior.
The view is just stunning, even on rainy days. We were welcomed by Laetitia and got to try five different wines, which we all enjoyed - from the easy going Onsteiner to the complex Riesling and Gewürztraminer.
R.
The most beautiful vineyard, venue and view in New Zealand. The wine is of course delicious. The team at Rippon provided us with world class service and hospitality for our event - couldn't recommend them more. Thank you!
s.
Fab wines. The view is stunning. Wine tasting very informative thank you. We tried a new variety of white wine today called Osteier. Very nice. ❤Would recommend a vist to Rippon Lea.

I cannot speak more highly of Rippon as a wedding venue. Trying to plan a wedding during a pandemic is tough but with Kelcey’s help, it was significantly less stressful. The venue was very accommodating and the place is just something else. Our guests could not get over the view and the stunning setting most saying they felt like they were in Italy! Thank you for making our special day so perfect

We recently visited Wanaka and made a quick stop at the Rippon Vineyard. The venue is situated just above the lake, perhaps 10 minutes past ThatWanakaTree if you are on the lakeside walking trail. It is further accessible from the Mt. Aspiring Rd. if you are driving. Opening hours 11-5pm daily.
We liked our tasting experience at Rippon. While we didn't find wines here that we were in love with, we enjoyed our brief discussion with the young lady providing the tasting. She did a nice job introducing us to this vineyard and the varies grapes grown here.
A further quick mention that the views of lake are impressive from the Rippon Vineyard, perhaps reason enough to visit, even if some in your party are not interested in wine tastings.
A.
We walked there from Wanaka and joined a wine tasting (free of fees, but donations to charities welcome). This was a very nice afternoon. The walk is beautiful (4km one way), the winyard beautiful with great views above the lake, the local staff extremely friendly and the wines tasty. it is great that they work respecting biodiversity. The tasting lasts around 20-30 minutes. You don't need to book it - just go there and wait until the next one starts.
M.
Beautiful location! Sign up for a free tasting online before you go, it's informative and you get to try a range of wines with the friendly staff but you need to book. The venue rooms look perfect for weddings and parties.

Rippon estate is the most beautiful vineyard I have ever visited. The stunning views on the glacial Wanaka lake, embraced by alpine landscapes, are unparalleled.
The tasting is free and you pay only if you don't show up.
The vines are absorbing minerals from the local rock, the schist, and are not irrigated. Biodamic techniques are used on the property.
The protagonist wines are dry whites. Above all, shines the Osteiner, a crossing between Riesling and Silvaner grapes.

Probably the most beautiful winery in the world ... near Lake Wanaka
L.
Beautiful winery with such fantastic views of lake Wanaka. Family owned winery for 3 generations. I wasn’t the biggest fans of all the wines. The Pinot noir is the most notable
M.
AMAZING views! Reservations are recommended for the wine tastings, although if you are a small group I'd say you can just stop by and join one of the tastings that take place every 10-15 min.
We just walked in and one was just starting. The tastings are free and they only ask you to make a donation to a conservation cause if you'd like.
The wine was very good and we purchased a bottle of the pinot noir.
Now, the major PRO of this place is the view.... you cannot get views like that anywhere else!
張.
Amazing view and free wine tasting! The wine is ok and the staff are very friendly. Very good experience in Wanaka
B.
A fantastic winery! This winery has exceptional wine with an amazing view; the wine is unique with a natural, mineral taste.
My girlfriend and I went here while on holiday, and we loved it! In fact, the scenery was so picturesque that I decided it was the right place to propose... She said yes!
g.
Friendly staff, amazing wine. Went 10minutes before they closed and the staff graciously still brought us through the wine tasting. Beautiful view as well!!
L.
We had a good time there!
The best activity in wanaka when the ski resort is closed temporarily.
T.
Amazing views, great tasting experience, highly recommended. Only unfortunate part is they don’t allow guests to purchase wine and enjoy it there on the grounds with that view.
D.
A must do in Wanaka. Amazing example of Central Otago wine, top notch Pinot Noir and a Gamay Noir you should squirrel away for a year or two.
K.
Free tastings, friendly staff and amazing views! What more could you ask for? A must stop when in the Wanaka area!
W.
What a spot for an intimate wedding.
And there wines even better than the view, now thats saying something
K.
Best view and good wine. Would have liked to buy a glass or two and enjoy with a little food but this is not an option.
B.
Walked here from town and it took about 40 minutes. Amazing view up here and a nice treat for the walk. Tasting was free and I made a donation to their charity. They are known for their pinot noir and it was very good. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine and how it is made. Wish I could have drank a glass there but it's prohibited due to not having food onsite. Just have to buy a bottle. 😉
L.
This vineyard is in the best location in the world. What a stunning property overlooking the lake. The young french man who served us was very charming and very knowledgeable. The tastings were free, but of course, we bought some wine as did the others that were there.
D.
My wife and I recently visited Rippon Vineyard for a quick stop in. Not having the highest of expectations as we didn't book a reservation prior to coming (not required on particular days), we were pleased to hear they had spots for us in a group for tasting starting in ten minutes. Yes please!
Getting ahead of myself, yes the wine was awesome, yes, we bought wine on the way out. The scenery with Lake Wanaka in the background was second to none. But it was the experience and presentation by Jack, our wine expert, who made the difference.
Jack was on point with everything. He provided explanations of the wine, grapes, vineyard, region, even going as far to relate the years of harvest to the weather pattern. In addition related this information to popular vineyards around the world and how Rippon Vineyard fit into this mix with their biodynamic culture. If you are going to visit the Wanaka region of New Zealand and are interested in wine tasting, Rippon is the place to go and Jack is the man to tell you why. Thanks so much Jack for an amazing experience. Cheers!

This is a beautiful place that I guess every Wanaka visitor will end up checking it out anyway. The location is on the hill overlooking the lake. It claims to be the 'most photographed vinyard in the world', which I don't want to argue - it does have spectacular view especially when the day is nice.
however to my taste, their wine is rather ordinary and over priced. They claim all the wine making specifics which I am not sure how much sense it is making... they brag that don't irrigate their vines, how does this improve the fruit or the wine? or just leaving the fruit quality to the random? the staff claimed that they used the yeast 'from the plant' not using wine maker yeast, is this a taste driven decision or just a marketing term?
They don't have a big production given the size of their vineyard and I am sure Rippon will sell everything at cellar door at the premium. I am sure many will enjoy the view while appreciating the wine and cheese plate in a sunny afternoon there. Unfortunately to me the wine there fails into average quality range. I will go there for a nice bunch of lake photos and keep look for my wines from elsewhere.
D.
The most beautiful place on the planet!
Just my opinion.
From the car park one walks towards the winery and comes to the most spectacular view (in the world)
Once I recovered from the head swimming view I proceeded to the wine tasting area. Here I sampled divine tasting wines with an entertain and informative commentary.
Worth a visit most definitely.

Venue- 5 star
Staff- 3.5 star
Wine- 2 Star
The wine tasting is free, the staff are friendly during it, and the winery itself is stunning over the lake. However, their wine sucks pretty hard. The standard whites were drinkable, but several of the reds i couldnt even finish my 30ml pour. Very phenolic with lots of odd after tastes reminiscent of industrial solvents. Worth swinging by, but more for the experience than the wine
A.
BEAUTIFUL winery. their wine is organic and so tasty. we rocked up to a free wine tasting a little late, so one of their friendly staff (charismatic German woman) gave us a private little tasting. they have art in the foyer also which is for sale. a very great experience and amazing winery.
s.
One of the best things to do in Wanaka. Free wine tasting with an opportunity to donate to local chariti es. Bought a bottle of their Pinot noir. The views from the property are simply spectacular.
E.
Incredibly beautiful setting, the lovely lady who provided the wine tasting made it fun, historical and a great experience. Came away with a new variety of wine Osteiner....absolutely gorgeous
A.
great location... very crowded and wine tasting all 15 minutes. i would rather go for quality instead of quantity and charge a bit for the tasting - so visitors would get filtered out. as well a pity that there is no bar that serves wine ... its a beautiful estate.
M.
Absolutely amazing views. Enjoyed the wine and the staff seemed very well educated on the products.
To the owners: Reading some of the other reviews, you can only please so many people. Keep doing what you do best. Will definitely go back again soon.
R.
My wife and I had our wedding reception here earlier this year.
Rippon really is an incredible venue. The view is the best view we have seen in our lives - nowhere in our travels anywhere in the world have we seen a better view.
Kelcey - you were brilliant. From the beginning, throughout it all. Always an excellent communicator - always very professional... Thank you for all your great advice, understanding, patience and support. You helped make our day more special than we could have imagined.
F.
This place is stunning. Get to wanaka and get to rippon wines.
I got married there
Just go and then tell me your thoughts.
A.
Amazing winery with awesome views and free tasting sessions. However we disliked how the sales pitch started as soon as the tasting session ended. We were planning to buy and did walk out with two bottles but would have preferred a bit more time before being shown the menu.
Happy but just one thing that could help further improve customer satisfaction
J.
Stunning but don't get that much wine in the tasting. I know it's a free tasting but there's no ability to purchase a glass of wine which makes the small amount in the tasting the only wine you'll get to consume at the property.
M.
Outstanding spot! Brilliant views, wonderful wines and good service. Would recommend to a friend or family member and will return.
N.
Simply great service and the best "the best" roast lamb ever...
I've had great roast lamb in my time but this was a whole new level.
If you go to Wanaka and don't visit you'll never know.
B.
Outstanding wine. Outstanding location. Oustanding people.
S.
Good quality wines with great taste. Knowledgeable friendly staff. A fun way to spend an hour.
D.
Incredible setting for a winery perched high above the lake with wonderful views. Jack talked us through an incredible (complementary) tasting with plenty of explanation about the unique biodynamic techniques used here. Well worth a visit if you are around Wanaka
R.
Rippon is such a fantastic venue for your wedding or Event! The team there are super lovely and professional. Kelcey is quick to get back to you and amazing to deal with. we highly reccomend this venue the views are breathtaking and the wine is delicous!!
S.
Walked here from town on a nice lake path. Great views from the winery and plenty of space to enjoy a drink and picnic outside. Whites were surprisingly good, especially the Rieslings.
T.
Most beautiful winery views in NZ, summer chefs table was perfect way to follow wine tasting
T.
Beautiful winery, I’ve seen it in summer and winter. The wine tasting is goo, prepare to wait 20minutes for the next tasting session, take in the views
N.
We have visited Rippon Vineyard in Wanaka in summer. While Wanaka is already maybe the coolest and most beautiful place in NZ, Rippon is the highlight of it. The view from the winery is breathtaking and maybe the best view from a winery in the world. The owner Jo and Nick Mills are great people and produce excellent wine. We did a tasting and have been deeply impressed. The Rippon Mature Pinot Noir is one of New Zealands best and the Rippon Mature Riesling is also outstanding. This excellent quality is achieved using responsible organic winegrowing methodes. Highly recomended.

My husband (woo!) and I recently wed in an intimate ceremony at Rippon Estate, and we couldn't have chosen a more beautiful venue if we tried. Kelcey from Rippon was so lovely and accommodating from the start right through to the day of the wedding. The views were to die for and our photos from the day are more than we could have hoped for with the amazing backdrop. Thank you so much for letting us begin our next chapter at your beautiful vineyard!
E.
Brilliant, amazing service, love the family vibe. Fabulous view of the ocean as well as the vines
C.
Good wine, though a bit expensive. Free wine tasting (5 wines) well organised and presented. The view is stunning.
P.
Amazing! I have seen this winery in a brochure 6 months ago in London and now in real life...
A.
Must do while in Wanaka. The views there are amazing, the wines are very tasty and the history of the vineyard is great. We went on a rainy day but still well worth it!
K.
Amazing views from a very special winery. Wines and chef's table best dining/wining in Wanaka. Just done an ebike wine tour with Wanahaka--Fantastic.
S.
Beautiful views, great place to taste wine and admire Wanaka.
G.
Even if you don't like wine, come here for the view. The wine is pretty tasty as well
K.
The best winery we've been to while in South Island. Stunning views, very informative staff and delicious wine. I only wished they had a facility to sit down with their wine and some snacks so we could enjoy the breathtaking views a bit longer.
M.
Fantastic site with amazing views. Wine tasting takes about 20 mins, informative with reasonable quality wines, free tasting but expensive to buy
M.

T.
The best winery on the South Island of NZ! Located with sweeping views of Lake Wanaka - this place is a MUST visit
O.
Overlooking Lake Wanaka a high quality single vineyard producer. Try the RIPPON OSTEINER as this is the only place in NZ that grows this variety. You will not be disappointed
A.
A great view. I was at a awards ceremony for the youth of wanaka.
S.
Beautiful vineyards with lavendar scent. The staffs were friendly. Pinot noir was fresh and gewurztraminer was silky.

Our favourite wine tasting from Queenstown and Wanaka - not just because of the wine, but because of the folks taking the tasting.
Some amazing views to be found at the Rippon Winery as well.
E.
Spectacular views, lovely free wine tasting with friendly staff, superb Sauvignon Blanc!
A.

Rippon is an absolute stunner. Entrance only via booking, free tasting as well. We ended home with 3 bottles of wine. Even if you’re not a wine drinker, the view is just stunning.

(Translated) Early in the morning there was no one.
During the tasting, the woman like the employee kindly explained everything one by one. Thanks to a good experience and tasting
I liked the scenery completely, but it was a bit disappointing that I did not have a vineyard. I did not buy wine because I did not like wine too much, but I was sponsored because I received sponsorship for environmental protection. The price is also available for $ 30, so if you like tasting and you like it, it's not too bad to buy one.
