Great for kids! We visited in Jan. 2019 and Jan 2022 after 2 years of our kids begging to go back. The hot pools are great for adults and the splash pad is fantastic for the size of it. I would recommend going at non peak times to get better value for money. We go after dinner and it works great, the line for the slide is shorter when it is less busy. Kids must be 120 cm high to do the water slides and I highly recommend them, they are worth the extra charge and the whole experience is better if your kids get to enjoy these.

We stayed at the campground and it was a very nice stay. The facilities were very modern and well maintained and the staff were all lovely and accommodating. Also shout out to the awesome cleaning lady, what a pleasure she was to chat too and she did a great job!
R.
Large camping setup offering a variety of sites for camper vans, tents as well as cabins, studios etc and a hotel. The spa is great fun for young and old alike. Various warm pools, slides and a water play area that periodically dumped a deluge of water upon those within.

I didn't expect the size of the cabin. The Top10 holiday have a good size for this rate, 3⭐.
So disappointing, that the Cafe was closed already (not serving food anymore). It should be updated on their ad, 1⭐ we traveled for almost 2 hours, and expect that there will be a Cafe and don't need to go anywhere to have a good meal for kids and us. The cabin is dusty, hidden beneath the sliding door in the toilet, and you can feel the dust on the carpet, 1 ⭐. The floor flooded from the defrosted freezer even it was on. I switched it to 3 and the water dripping stopped, 1⭐. For the pool, my family enjoyed it, 4⭐.

Loved everything. Staff, cleanliness, temperature and different no. of pools etc. Can't wait to go back day pass more than worth it. Would love it if there was a big screen in the main pool-would be a cherry on top 🙂. Kid friendly. Great for families with small kids. Thanks all.
M.
We stayed in one of the superior units which was modern and spacious. Beds were comfortable and it was great having an outside table and chairs to enjoy meals outside. Only regret was not booking an extra night. The family pool pass tops the whole holiday off. We are planning on returning. My kids were a bit disappointed the dragon water slide was closed but that didn't diminish what was a great family holiday

Fantastic place awesome layout, stayed in a campsite in a tent, nice site, no lights nearby which made it awesome.
Staff are friendly and helpful, kitchen is clean and spotless, toilets are clean as a hotel one.
Prefect in every way, just remember that tents allow you to hear what your neighbours are doing or saying... Lol.
Photo is my actual setup, site is 12.5 meters by 5 meters wide and has a tree for shade.

We did powered tent camping in jan 2022. Very good location, close to city center and lake front.
Waterpark is awesome.
Kitchen, toilets, showers are very clean.
Powered camp sites are a bit smaller than standard.
The site is not fully accessible for mobility visitors.
During our visit one of the dragon hydro slide was closed for maintenance, it was the longest slide, but doesn't really mattered to us since other slides were almost as high.
Overall our experience was very good, kids didn't want to come out of the pools. We would love visit again.

Lovely campsite situated just outside town centre. Camp sites are well spaced out with some form of hedge in between. However grass could be better maintained. You get about half price on tickets to debretts hot pools so makes trips there not two pricey. Kitchen is large enough for the amount of people however it is barebones. Apparently reception had more cooking stuff but never went and asked.

I booked late for camping over Waitangi weekend so was allocated to the overflow area which was perfectly fine for my needs. The bathrooms were very clean & designed well with lots of hand basins, roomy showers with a stool to use & clean toilets. The kitchen provided everything from electric & gas cooking hobs, an oven, 2 microwaves, 2 fridges, serviced sinks with dish liquid & cleaning utensils. The lounge area had plenty of dining tables/chairs & the outdoor area had 2 BBQs. One small thing they could have a couple of baskets of pegs on the washing line, have seen this at other places which is helpful & means that there’s not a pile of clothes constantly on the ground.
Hot pools discount is great. Next to the Hilton.
A.
This was the most perfect stop over after the Tongariro Crossing with a powered site and access to hot pools at DeBretts. Also got a big reduction in admission to pools. Excellent clean facilities.

After being disappointed yet again by the attitude of the suppliers of Bookabach accommodation in Taupo, we decided to stay at Taupo DeBretts. It was just lovely. A good play area for the little kids and an air tramp for the bigger (and little) kids as well as the pools right there. Just fabulous. Not overpriced and really great staff with unfaultable attitudes. We'll be staying there every time we go to Taupo in future.
S.
This is a great place to relax! Wasn’t too packed. Would be a great place for kids to come as they have a kids play area, water park & hydro slide. Would definitely come back!
N.
Just love the place had such an amazing time with my family, we will definitely be going to Debretts again.
There rules at the swimming pool is a bit inconsistent, because one day it will be one set of rules and you can do things and the next day it is not allowed.
Overall this place was just what me and my family needed.
D.
We stayed in a superior studio and it was perfect for us! 1 toddler 2 adults. Modern, warm, large closed off deck perfect for a toddler. The floors are heated, and there's plenty of space. The only downfall for us was the water. It sometimes took a while to heat or get hot water from the taps. Other than that its a great place. Not too far to the playground, reception and Cafe. The hots pools are beautiful too.
G.
The staff are good .
I may have miss understood where l had booked .
I am single and put me in cabin. Wooden floor and adjoining cabin
Half the size of mine with a family and 2 children .
What a noise.
So at the price l could have done way better. Had l just turned up to Taupo could have got into another place, with own toilet and shower at a similar price. So for me is over priced.
Again the girls at counter could only do so much and were very pleasant.
K.
Great location, excellent staff, rooms have been freshened up but the room servicing needs to be stepped up a bit. Floor hadn't been cleaned and benches had a little too much cleaner on them. Shower water temp fluctuated while in use from cold to very hot; possibly from water usage in other rooms. Having wildlife at your door is relaxing.
M.
This is amazing. Came at night for the first time, just to the pool as opposed to staying at the hotel.
It has the perfect balance of facilities; with fantastic slides, beautifully hot thermal pools (including a sort of thermal bubble massage bed for want of a better term, which was AMAZING!!).
I'd just been skiing all day and to come to this paradise was pure bliss... definitely worth the moderately high cost of entry and highly recommend:)
G.
Booked the DELUXE THREE BEDROOM CHALET (6A/6B).
Great size for the kids. Only gripe, given the amount we paid for the room, the wifi and internet connection was extremely patchy until around 9pm, so presume was a bandwidth issue perhaps from too many people trying to use? It meant that our two kids (who like to use iPads for some quiet time in the evening) couldn't do so, and had to use our phones, eating into our data allowance. Same with the TV, patchy reception kept cutting out.
Everything else great - great view, on site amenities, reception staff, hot pools!
C.
A very fun experience! Loved the private pools, though would have liked them to be hotter (the hottest available on the day we visited was 38-degrees). The private pools are surprisingly large and we had a brilliant time.
There are larger public pools near a flume/water slide - this was very busy at the time with children, so the private area is better suited for couples looking for something more quiet and relaxing - you get an allocated pool for 45 mins.
Towel hire is $10, and you get $5 back (as a deposit). Front desk staff were friendly and very informative.
A.
Such a cool place. Super clean, staff are amazing. We had a power issues and we're offered a refund for one of the nights we stayed. Will totally be returning frequently in 2022
A.
Loved our stay at the campsite here. Great facilities and playground for the kids. The water park is great too.
D.
The accomodation exceeded expectations. It was new and modern and very spacious. It was extremely comfortable and I didn't want to leave.
The staff were friendly.
The discounted use of the hot pools whilst staying there was an added bonus.
I had a very relaxing few days
P.
This is a great place to hangout and relax for a few days. The facilities are excellent and having the mineral pools is the icing on the cake.
R.
We had such a lovely relaxing time, De Bretts come highly recommended and it did not disappoint, lovely staff at reception and at the pools.
Can not wait for our next trip to De Bretts
J.
Don't go on the hydroslide. Far too fast to enjoy! But every other aspect is great. Enougg space for the kids to play and an awesome airpad.
N.
Excellent facilities and customer service. Pools were way too hot for sure, however that probably can't be changed much, given they are mineral pools.
D.
A friend reccomend it to me & we love this place, to the point we booked another night 😍 it has everything we could need, from hot showers, to campervan accommodation, playgrounds & the pools.... In nature. Taupo is beautiful
A.
Always get the private rooms for 30 minutes of pure bliss ! Staff are always so lovely. The premises is always clean! The only downer is the hill on the way back up to the car park haha
M.
We always pop in to these hot pools on our way through Taupo. They are fantastic pools, all with different temperatures. The kids go and play on the hydroslides while the adults get to relax. The place feels clean and organized. Love it.
K.
Highly recommend for families
Great facility
Great staff
Pools where fantastic
10/10 many many thanks
We will be back for sure.

We booked the 2 bedroom chalet, stayed in no 2 on the 11th and 12th. There was a cluster of hair in the soapdish in the shower, which was a letdown unfortunately, the dishwasher was not working, was apparently new but never tested. Resort is nice and could offer a great experience, just a shame when you get a feeling that cate was not taken even when you part a good amount of money for some good family time. Apart from this it was really good holiday.
M.
Loved it here! The staff were so, so, so, nice & accomodating! I had to change the reservation & a few other hiccups & the staff were amazing & sweet. The room & the facilities were clean & everything was clear & easy to use. A great time overall.
M.
Awesome place to stay and the pools so close are awesome! We'll be back! The staff are extremely accommodating, when we arrived late they had our room sorted and ready!
e.
quite high priced value for money wise, soak was good, hydroslides my daughter got kicked in the back by n adult so wasnt really winning there, good temp for babies my 1 year old loved it.
tip- remember after soaking you have to walk up a hill lol.
B.
The accomodation is quite expensive but the cabins are surprisingly very nice! And lots of privacy, i do feel resort guests should be allowed acess to the debrett pools but it’s an additional charge.
N.
Great chalet. Helpful staff at reception. Lovely hot pools
M.
I've stayed here many times before but this time it was so much nicer, so clean and tidy, staff were friendly and helpful, the pools and massage were incredible, couldn't fault it
J.
I was camping, it was a huge site and well looked after. Every facility was spotless, I'll happily stay again.
J.
Must try DeBretts massage therapy before jumping in the pools. The best antidote for any kind of stress.
This place always gives best experience.
M.
Great new facilities, good pools, the birds might wake you at 5am if you are a light sleeper in a tent.
T.
Thanks De Brett's We had someone with a disability. Easy to get them down to the pool and everyone happy to help. We will be back.
A.
We didn't stay in the accomodation, it was booked well in advance of our hastily organized trip.
Hot pools are great for adults to soak, and there's 3 hydro slides for the kids to choose from.
Nothing fancy cosmetically, but nice surrounds. Good value for money. Easy to spend 2 or 3 hours here.
H.
The facilities and service are great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Having an on-site restaurant would have perfected our stay.
L.
Looking for that adventure away from home look no further..all fun for everyone here highly recommend
r.
Very nice, but the decking around part of the pool needs quite a bit of fixing.
M.
De Bretts spa resort is awesome. Especially after a day at the snow. Our room was a superior lodge very warm and tidy.Underfloor heating, heat pump in lounge and in bedroom.Had bathroom and kitchen everything we needed.Large hot pool at back of reception down the hill/driveway. Pools were very busy. There is a charge for pools but discounted if staying at De Bretts. Will check out private pools on next visit. They have cabin and campsite facilities as well, large Balloon bouncer for kids and a park. Check this place out if you are in Taupo.
N.
Great experience at DeBretts. Booked a 2 night stay in a lake villa and was very happy with the high standard of accommodation and cleanliness. Absolutely wonderful service from reception. They went out of their way to find us a time for our massage. Barb also let me borrow her ventolin, thank you so much Barb you are a star.
T.
Thoroughly enjoyed the spa. The outlook from the comfortable villa afforded lovely sunset views.
P.
Great massage, lovely pools great staff. Very good experience and excellent value.
D.
Awesome place to relax and soak in lovely hot pools and great accommodation.
k.
Me and my family Loved this place very welcoming n safe for everyone so much fun for th family
C.
Great camper spots with hedges and beautiful facilities which even had SkyTV in the kitchen. We didn't go to the pools, but if you do you get a discount.
They could let people know the bathrooms are unisex though. Not sure everyone would be okay with that.
But I'd go again 😃
F.
Large campgrounds, super clean and modern facilities. Great value.
L.
We’ve visited the pools many times but this was my first time staying. We were in a camper on a powered site. Loved it. Staff were so obliging and informed. Site was beautiful. Facilities were clean and warm. We will definitely stay again!
A.
Great place to take a break. Really enjoyed it..
Recommend it and intend staying again
P.
Loved this place was perfect for our family. Both mr 14 and miss 2 didn't want to leave.
M.
Second visit.
Nice and clean.
Not too busy.
Good for family.
C.
A good place to stay with the family. Lots to do at the actual resort and a short drive away. The downsides were the cost of the pool while staying, you get a small discount but really why couldn't this be free? Also, the daily clean of the rooms was substandard - with the toilet not getting cleaned etc.
c.
Our family stayed three nights over New Years, it didn’t feel busy but it was. We had the best stay, this place is lovely and organized, there was plenty of room on our site for the caravan and shade tent. The kids loved the air bounce pad. Was really impressed at the modern facilities and never waited for showers or toilets. We got a discount for the pools which was good but very busy. Coming back again, thanks guys!
w.
Amazing hot pools! Hydroslides are nice, good for the kids but shame I'm not allowed as I'm over 90kgs. Pool facilities are quite dated, a decent renovation would be great. It would be great if the cafe at the pool can serve meals too. Would be awesome if the pool opens earlier than 930am (e.g. 7am), at least for the room/motel guests only.
Stayed at a 2-bedroom chalet and it was a pretty good experience. It has everything we need for our 1-night stay. Very handy parking, just in front of the unit. Best to bring food with you as there are cooking facilities and fridge. Not much food choices in the cafe but good enough to survive a meal.
Overall stay is very good. Got what we paid for! We will absolutely come back again soon. Thanks DeBretts!
J.
Kinda of dated but the water was nice and warm. Coffee not great.
K.
Lovely accommodation and water park. 3 day family pass ticket for water park is awesome! Staff members were all very kind. I lost my son's rash top at the resort, so emailed them after came back home, Larissa quickly responed and found it and sent it to us immediately. Really appreciate her. Impressive service.
m.
Amazing!!! and Beautiful!!!🌹
Great service.
Accomodation: Villa
Rooms: 2x incl King Bed and
2x single beds
Adults: 2x Children: 5yr and 7yr
I almost booked online but lucky I rang and spoke to Fiona on reception who recommended us the best Villa with the best view and all the necessities we needed within our price range.
Our family loved it so much we wish we lived in that Villa.
Highly recommend
We would definitely stay again.
e.
Good place to visit. Could do with a spruce up but overall pretty good. Worth a stop
D.
such a cute little camping spot! came with friends for a night and loved it.
E.
Great experience helpful staff enjoyed our soak in the hot pool.
R.
Wonderful stay. Cabin was well maintained, clean and even has underfloor heating. The hot springs were a delight for both adults and kids. If you book a night, you get discounted entry to the hotsprings too. Breakfast was very, very good. Generous servings and friendly staff. The kids really enjoyed the facilities on site too!
D.
Lovely clean camping ground, kitchen and bathrooms are top notch and having the hot pools right next door is a huge bonus. Highly recommend you spend an evening there soaking. You get a discount on the hot pools if you are staying in the camp ground. You even get views of Lake Taupo from some of the camp sites. Close to the main highway to Napier and close to Taupo shops - just remember to fill up your campervan or car before departing Taupo, because there are NO petrol stations on the Taupo/Napier Highway 5!
m.
Great spot...though our 7 market camper only fitted into allotted site when I angle parked...flat enough...hot pools were very busy so booked a private pool...loved our stay..
Q.
Lovely place especially if you have kids...but seriously spa hotpools needs upgrading...other than that rooms are very clean & tidy...loving it🥰
L.
Such a fantastic facility!! Everything was immaculately clean, and the site is so well looked after by the amazing Staff. I can't say thank you enough for the help putting up my tent as the rain began to fall, the friendly faces of the staff who couldn't have done enough to make my stay enjoyable! The added bonus of the half price entry to De Brett's Pools was the icing on the 🍰 I will be back as many times as I can 👌👍
C.
The slides were out of operation but there was signage and the staff advised of this on arrival. The facilities were clean. The pools were great. Service was friendly. Towel hire was also much appreciated.
J.
Booked in a last minute weekend getaway and got a superior studio with breakfast for 2 nights. Loved how close we were to town. Pricing was decent, the room was lovely, heated floors were a nice touch in the winter. I also loved the kitchen facilities, especially the dishwasher that made keeping the room clean that much easier. I decided to book in a facial and a massage, both of which were incredible and I would definitely recommend. Had 5+ soaks in the private mineral pools over our weekend stay and left feeling incredibly relaxed. Would definitely stay again and recommend, it really is the full package for a relaxing weekend getaway.
N.
Deliciously warm pools, nicely landscaped and generously sized. Some features starting to look a bit worn and dated and it's quite pricey. Could do with some more loungers (only 2 for the entire complex!). Liked being given the option to leave and return again later.
V.
Very tidy, super clean, friendly reception lady plus I could have my puppy with me
Highly recommended!!!
D.
Excellent facilities. The abulitions block has been redone since I was last here and it is just bliss. The cafe food is great if you don't feel like cooking. The sites are separated by hedging which gives a bit of privacy . Kitchen and laundry both well equipped and very clean
L.
My family absolutely LOVED IT HERE!
emails were replied quickly and efficiently and even catered to the needs & wants of my family & our kids. Nicely welcomed by a maori lady who greeted us & checked us in, made us feel welcomed, also 2 other ladies who helped us recommend a great tyre place as our tyre went flat (thankyou) & another lady who recommended the taupocruises to hukafalls which was a highlight for my family (thank you)
Such a great place for families & have had so many people enquiring about this place via my social media, so they will definately be booking in future. usually when booking accomodation we always hope for good weather so that we can make the most of all facilites within the resorts , however even with the rain my family were still able to swim and not be cold or what not, the kids LOVED it , the pools were worth that long hill walk .. haha rooms daily serviced which was great & even with such a big family , we were able to use the common bathrooms to shower in when our chalet showers were occupied. common kitchen & showers were CLEAN.
Thank you Taupo DeBretts for such an awesome family getaway experience. will definately be back again.
L.
Water is warm and relaxing plus the private spas are included in your entry fee.
Many different pools and depths with varied relaxing to cook a crayfish temperatures.
Beautiful layout with a nice little shop for an ice-cream as you go home.
This place will relax you and improve your day no matter how it started.
It is very close to the new Hilton so if you are after an upper crust experience maybe do the two together.
Great value for money....a real landmark in the Taupo environment.
Like Dilmah tea , do try it:-):-)
R.
Caravan camping - great sites on gravel area.
Unisex bathrooms worked well and sooo clean and luxurious.
Great to have discounted pool entry .
Only 100 metres away .
Late checkout much appreciated

Cabin was average however waterpark was very good.
D.
DeBretts is pretty great, nice pools, service was great and everything else was as expected. Its a little pricey, but in saying that worth it in my opinion. Worth checking out, just be aware that the hydro slides have rules; you must be under 90kg (which I'm not), over 1.2m tall (my five year old isn't) and you can't slide down with your kids. It's pretty strict but understandable. Suffice to say we missed out on the slides. But if you fit the bill it looks fun. Otherwise had a very relaxing time.
S.
Such a cool place to take the family to for a swim and a fun day. There's shade everywhere for spectators to relax and read a book. Clean facilities too. Had so much fun with the family there 😊
K.
If thermal hot springs are your thing then this is the place! Naturally heated and not treated so chemical free! Pools are drained and refilled everyday! Family fun for everyone, slides, water park and a variety of different hot pools!
V.
Awesome camp ground with amazing amenities and a fancy restaurant at the Hilton next door. Food was off the charts as was the service. Great place for the family holidays. We'll be back for sure
E.
$23 per adult, although there was an absolute ton of children here they offer private pools included in the price. Simply ask if one is available and then they will give you a 45 minute time slot. I will definitely return next time i’m in Taupo.
D.
Had a wonderful time, loved the views and the warmed pools. Is a great place for families with different age ranged children. Would be great to have a bigger cold pool. Staff were helpful and friendly.
v.
Great family pool spot. Our 5 little toddlers enjoyed it. Slides were fun! A little bit more umbrella shaded seating would be good. Great little morning trip
S.
Nice site for caravan. Stay here often while working nearby, away from home.
T.
Good clean pools of different temps. No diving or bombing into pools. Has three slides, water bucket. Heated floor in changing rooms. The privates could be a lot better, they are very old, but they function. At the top off the little hill there is a good cafè/shop.🤠
A.
For our $222.50 per night the room was very basic (could do with a bit of art or something) was presented clean, other than the chocolate wrapper behind the bedroom door. No bathroom amenities were provided and both nights of our stay we had extremely loud guests next door, the first night several kids and the second a group of drinking adults, maybe this can be considered when placing people possibly trying to keep couples next to couples? Daily discount to the thermal spas was great, we took advantage of this everyday. Check in and out was easy with very friendly staff.
S.
It's second times we have been there. The kids always have fun. Pools were nice and warm.
A.
For the amount of money this place makes..........
The Pools, themselves need mayjor updating and refreshing, the local rates could be cheaper and cameras need to be more exposed.... Thanks Team keep up the good work...
J.
Very nice place to stay and visit, reception staff were very nice and gave good instructions.
Rooms have a lot of ambient light coming into the rooms through out the night
M.
Good service, clean units, friendly staff but hot pools is a bit of a walk away from our unit. Pity about the weather 🌧 otherwise the walk to the hot pools would have been fine 🙂
C.
Excellent place to stay, everything you could ask for and great service! Hot pools and massages are the best! Definitely be back :) Just one thing, be sure to vacuum under couches and tables too! Otherwise 5 stars 🌟
A.
Amazing hot pools and fun water slides for the kids. Can hire togs and towels which is great.
M.
The massage was excellent my granddaughter and I will definitely go back. The pool setup is awesome. We loved the outdoor spa bath
H.
Super clean and relaxing, great facilities, lockers, and seating, and a good mix of pools - hot (40ish), mid (37ish) and cold (25ish), plus private spas at various temperatures, and lastly 3 water slides. Best of all it doesn't get too busy - probably because it's a notch more expensive than the AC Baths.
N.
Reception staff excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Strange having breakfast adjacent to reception. Menu has something for everyone. Breakfast area very small.
Accommodation: Stayed in studio M1. Perfect size for 2 people. Has everything you need.
Park caters for self driven caravanettes.
There's a free, covered, bouncy area on the Eastern side of the resort, to keep the kids happy.
The spa area is down a steep drive. But if you have disabilities, you're allowed to take your car down there. Ask at reception first.
Everything is expensive in the spa. Unless you're staying onsite, and you get a small discount.
Had a private massage. Even though a bit pricy, was very relaxing. You get a discount, and free entry to the spa pools if you use this service.
If you want to use a private spa pool, you can choose your temperature. I went for 39C. And it was great. Again costs extra.
There was only 2 spa pools working when we were there. A 1.6m warm one. And a cooler 1.4m one for all the family.
2 water slides, and you bizarrely pay extra for those.
Should the weather turn bad, there is undercover shelter for everyone.
Personally, I wouldn't want to stay a whole week here. Especially with a family. Unless you have deep pockets.
Resort is about 2km from the town centre. Hilton hotel shares the same grounds.
I would give 5*'s, but nearly everything you have to pay for. Nothing is inclusive.
B.
Great place. Very nice private hot pools. Shared pools are also very nice. Lots of forest surrounding the pools. Great prices for what you get. We stayed in a powered camper site and it was nice with hedges to separate the camp spots. I think we paid $39 NZ each for powered site and access to hot pools and private spa. Facilities block was fantastic...really clean and modern with very private stalls. Hair dryers provided. Kitchen has areas for up to 6 people to cook at one time. Communal fridge and freezer with boiled water on tap and everything you need to do dishes. Washers and dryers. They also play music 24/7 in the facilities area for privacy when going to bathroom etc.
A.
Great spot for a group or family holiday. We booked a holiday weekend for ten families, most with kids. Right from the beginning the staff were SO helpful and accommodating at meeting our needs. We stayed in the cabins which are basic and clean and perfect for the price and it's just a short walk to the pools, which were a hit with all of us. The kids especially loved the bouncy jump pad too. Great place and we will go back.
N.
Awesome stay. We had a powered site for our camper van. Super private with beautiful hedges surrounding each lot. Really clean facilities and great kitchen space. Having access to the pools made it our favourite north island spot. Would highly recommend.
G.
Nice place to get away, kids loved the pools which were discounted due to us staying on site. Room was nice and fresh. All just two minutes from town. Cheers DeBretts 😊
J.
Have been going for years as I am a local. Kids enjoyed it when they were younger, slides got upgraded which was nice. I just wish they would get around to cleaning the pools and facilities properly. They have the same squashed insect in the men's urinal that has been there for about 10 years (says husband). Women's changing facility pretty average with only one toilet! Pool always looks dirty and paint chipping off. I see they have finally decided to paint cold pool - so hope they paint the other pools soon.
M.
I rented a cabin for my family of 4. Nice and tidy. Shared unisex facilities but they are very clean. Big bouncing pad for the kids was fun for adults too. Payed extra for thermal pools, AND for slides. Didnt get to fully use pools coz they only have hot hot thermals , no warm pools. Overall a pleasant stay nice and close to beautiful Lake Taupo.
J.
Really enjoyed our stay. Awesome family friendly accomodation, nice and modern :) kids loved their swim too
N.
Awesome place to stay and one of the main parts I like is the water park right next to it. 3 awesome slides and a water playground with a big tipping bucket. Relaxing hot pools surrounded by trees and nature. Decorated well, giving it a chill, natural feel. Private pools are also really nice. And when I went there about a 2 years ago it even snowed while I was sitting in the hot pools!
M.
Loved the thermal pools next door and especially the clean, warm and modern shower/toilet blocks of the campground itself. With hair dryers and soap & shower gel provided! The kids loved the playground. We were there just before the school vacation, so not crowded at all. But the sites for the campervans and chalets were too close to each other for my taste.
T.
Two nights in a one bedroom unit. Checkin was simple however we were told the door would be unlocked and it wasn’t so had to run back to the reception to get the key. It wasn’t a big deal. They gave us two free regular coffees for the inconvenience.
Reception: The lady who served us was unhelpful and sour the next morning when we enquired about activities around the area.
They had arranged the single beds to be in the lounge as requested. Thank you. The beds and pillows are extremely soft - bring your own if you prefer support.
The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. There were eyelash extensions on the top shelf of the shower caddy and the water tap was scummy. There was only a soap dispenser and no shampoo or conditioner. Make sure you bring your own. The rooms were well heated.
Cleanliness: There was a big water/food stain running down the wall by the bedroom door and there was a smear mark on the wall by the rubbish bin. There was no milk in the fridge contrary to the welcome letter.
The hot pools were nice and the people there were helpful and friendly. If you’re going on the slides, be prepared that your togs will get ripped. The private pools is a nice touch.
I recommend visiting the hot pools but would recommend staying somewhere else.
I.
Very nice water park, booked a private spa for an hour after dinner and a long drive. Was relaxing. Shower facilities were a bit in the open.
T.
Nice place, but at $58 for two adults they should offer more inclusions. To have the advertised experience you have to pay additional ($11 per head) if you want to use the thermal pools. There's not even a swimming pool available unless you splash out for the 'discounted' water park and spa.
Also overheard a staff member mocking a potential guest who requested a better deal for their stay while I was booking... unprofessional at best.
Facilities were great with heated bathrooms, but again there should not be timers on the showers (limits you to 6 minutes) at that price point. Camp sites are also quite close to the road to Nelson, so there's some traffic noise.
Would recommend finding somewhere better priced and using the beautiful natural spring at the Thermal Park which is free!
Could be a great experience if they sorted out the exorbitant cost... won't be back until they do.
P.
Great place for an almost authentic natural hot pool experience... Only gave it four stars as it is rather expensive... Four 14 yr olds and myself was over $100... And a couple of pools were inoperable so I thought they might have discounted the entry fee..But if you can afford it, it is a great experience.
N.
What a fantastic place to go for a family get away.
The villa was spacious, clean and the kids loved the colour changing shower head. The food at The cafe was really yummy. They made the basics really well.
The pools were awesome for the whole family and the restaurant next door to the Hilton was absolutely delicious. They also had a lovely outdoor space for sitting and having a drink. The kids played on the grass backyard. Was perfect. Top marks from me.
Have suggested they pop some child safety plugs in the power sockets for little kids. Also be aware that they only have white wine as the option for your complimentart bottle for the deal we bought. Otherwise, super place to go. Definitely recommend for any budget as you can camp ina tent or go all out in a 2 bedroom villa. Wonderful place for the family.
J.
Excellent facilities and sites. Close to road which makes for a bit of noise. Some sites have lake views. Cafe is also excellent, looks basic but food and coffee is great (would give cafe and staff 5 star). Too far to walk to town with kids. Cabs available but may have to wait 20 mins approx. Thermal pools are very nice, a bit run down but still enjoyable. Hotel for dinner was not suitable for small kids, pretty expensive too.
V.
If you are wanting some winter R&R, hit this spot for a few days away. You can forget the outside rat race and enjoy the hot pools, spa treatments and a variety of accommodation.
j.
Stayed with our motorhome on a powered site
Facilities are very clean and fresh. Hot pools are great, very relaxing stay.
N.
We just love this place, so much to do as a family. The kids love diving in the pools and slides plus the private Tiki pools are so nice and relaxing. It is also ideally located close to the town centre. Must visit destination for all families.
J.
Nice place to relax. I went for a spa treatment and thoroughly enjoyed it. The therapist I was with worked the knots in my shoulders like a champ, sooo good. The only thing is you do have to walk down a steep hill to get there (then you have to go back up...). Otherwise it was a fantastic time and the pools are clean.
I.
It's ok, my 5 & 8 year old enjoyed it though. Quite expensive. You're able to leave complex and return later on that day if you wish. Staff at pools are very friendly.
R.
Fantastic, great place to stay with kids!
d.
Always friendly, always clean. Thanks
M.
Nice facilities that are well kept. The private bath houses are clean and maintaned, which says a lot in NZ.
Only wish the slides supported more than a 90kg weight limit.
S.
Wonderful warm swimming pools that feel delicious to dip into! They are great for a couples retreat or some family fun.
M.
First time in a campervan trip and I have to say this is the best park to stay. Very clean and cosy. Will definitely go back again soon.
N.
Run down place and quite gimicky, fun for the kids, no sense of luxury unlike the website pictures lead you to believe. I am glad I didn't order a massage as the environment doesn't feel relaxing. Very overpriced, slides are very slow but was pleasantly surprised they ran on warm water. Floors are heated which was nice too.
J.
Fabulous place to stay. Lively camp sites, great amenities even showers have heated floor. And the pools are amazing..
L.
Not one to do a review this location serves our group so well, the caravan sites are brilliant, the barbeques, shower facilities are the business. Very good, regards Peter
D.
This property is a holiday park located next to a Day Spa and Thermal Pool Complex. We stayed in a cabin with double bed and 3 bunks which was tidy, and located directly opposite a children's playground. There is a jumping pillow within the grounds which is fun for the kids. Please note, the Day Spa and Thermal Pool Complex are extras. The holiday park does not have a pool itself and you will need to pay extra for daily entry to the pool.
M.
Great place to stay with the family, nice, clean accomadation, friendly staff. The pools are so nice and relaxing. everyone had a great time. Thanks so much.
A.
This place is really cool. We enjoyed the time there. A really good water park, its just more than a spa. The changing rooms were clean and dry. Has a dryer outside for drying clothes. Has different pools to chill. From hot to cold.
R.
Checkin staff thoughtfully suggested a change to our pre booked sites further from the fairly busy school holiday pool entrance road. Camp layout enabled us to socialize but still have greenery around our site. Ablutions are first rate.
Being a comfortable walking distance to town, management and local council should combine to make walking a safer and more enjoyable experience.
D.
Great experience, lots of pools
J.
I just had to write a review and tell people about the wonderful staff here at Debretts. A special Thank you to Toby who was so kind and caring and upgraded our room for us because she was concerned for my wellbeing and the distance it was for me to go to the Bathroom. Much appreciated Toby you surely are a pleasure and Debretts should be very proud to have a wonderful staff member like you representing them in every way and your impeccable manners and the kindness you showed in serving the public did not go unnoticed.
Kindest regards
Josie Allan
M.
Its a 3 stars from me. Bathroom and was nice and clean. Needs an upgrade on the kids play area and pools. Not much activity for the kids
R.
Awesome facilities, clean and modern. Friendly staff. Guest discount to the hot pools makes it even better. Loved the stay
B.
Took advantage of the ultimate package. Great value. Cafe breakfast was awesome being onsite as well as the waterpark...especially at night with the colourful landscape lights. Will book again soon
S.
Booked into a chalet which was clean, nice and quiet. The staff member wasn't all that friendly when we showed up, took us to our chalet on her golf cart, felt like we were just dumped off and left. My husband said it's a camping ground maybe that's what they do. Our overall stay was great, the only place I have been to where you can shower without the lights on, as the shower had coloured lights that lit the room up, sounds bizarre but I thought it was cool. The breakfast was absolutely lovely and the rest of the staff were great very friendly would love to bring our caravan through and stay here.
S.
Great experience, a must-do for anyone visiting Taupo! Clean, friendly staff, busy but not too crowded, changing rooms were good and they even have a spin-out machine to help with yr togs!!
P.
Clean, tidy facilities. Pools are lovely, but pricey if only using for one day. Three day family pass is good value. Kids loved the slides and water park while parents can relax in mineral pools nearby. Had a strained leg muscle - 5 hours wanderjng from mineral pool to mineral pool completely fixed it! Pools are different temperatures so you can find the one you like, or change it up.
Camp kitchen area is well set up with BBQs close to the kids playground so you can cook and the kids can play. A huge, covered, bouncy air cushion is also on site to keep the kids busy. Easy walk to facilities from all camp sites. Good dump station facilities.
Unisex ablution facilities take a bit to get used too, however. When pool closing time arrives it is hard to find a shower, so get in early.
Public day parking is tight, but N/A if you are staying onsite.
Luxury cabins have a good view, tent and caravan sites not. Nice hedges between sites, though and some shady trees.
Thanks
K.
apsolutely perfect id reccomend the queen stay there .
A.
Awesome place to stay! Immaculate facilities. Wonderful staff! The pools are discounted if you stay, we had an amazing private spa. The water park would be awesome for families.
J.
This is our second stay here. We stayed in a family cottage/villa with our own bathroom and kitchenette. The room was clean and tidy, with crispy fresh linen, the kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher and the shower was hot with great pressure. We love having access to the hot pools, the family pass is recommended, and easy driving distance to town (though you can hire adult bikes at the reception). Super convenient.
T.
Great place to stay. My mum and brother and I only required a simple kitchen cabin which suited our needs perfectly. The amenities block is in great condition. The staff are really nice and very helpful as well. And the thermal pools are awesome. Thanks for a great stay.
E.
Had power site. Staff awesome. Cleanliness awesome. Facilities awesome. Great place for families but not so much for mature adults without kids. Power sites very close and personally I don't like unisex bathrooms. That alone puts me off ever going there again again.
J.
Lovely clean studio with comfy beds. Underfloor heating a bonus on top of a great warm unit
W.
$50 or more spent in the spa per person was a good idea as that also provided free entry that would have otherwise been $23 each. This also allowed us to come & go a few times right up until 8.30pm as it closes at 9.30pm, private room pools too at no extra cost.
Would highly recommend.
J.
Accommodations are nice and clean and have everything we needed. Very fast check-in and check-out process. Love that guests get a discount on the pools. The pools were a bit old but still very nice (although it's a bit of a long way down if you're walking). All-in-all a good place to stay in Taupo.
I.
Expensive for what it was - nice enough accommodation.
J.
We camped here for three nights around the cycle challenge in November. The place is very clean and the best appointed camp site I have ever stayed at. The two kids facilities are top notch and there are hot pools here. If it wasn't so far from our house we would make this a regular retreat.
C.
Tent sites are large and have their own private table.
Great facilities! Clean and complete kitchen area, clean and hot showers.
Access to the spa resort with 10% discount (didn't go though due to other priorities on this trip through NZ). But I can recommend this place also if just stopping by for 1 night.
w.
Taupo DeBretts is an excellent resort catering to all levels of affordability. Due to it being the beginning of the off season I was allowed to have my dog there. We stayed in campsite 59 which had a great view of the Lake however this site was next to the highway and very noisy. Facilities are modern and kept very clean. Discount to the hot pools was welcome and you can get a pass out for the day. Would be good to have a second seat a third of the way up the hill for coming back from the pools. This resort has everything available for families through to solo travellers and would highly recommend booking a stay. Take a look at what is on offer.
F.
Great place for the kids to enjoy. Thermal pools were great. We went in the evening after the snow. Several non heated pools made for interesting swimming and the kids attraction was great it was just too cold to be using it. Making your way up to the slide summits dripping wet in the cold wasn't ideal lol. Will def go back again
J.
Went on a road trip with some close friends and visited Taupo DeBretts and I must say it was the best thing we did after a full day of adventuring and driving around! Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would go back again! The different pools were great and kept us super warm on a cold winter night!
W.
The best weekend I had was been at debretts and had alot of fun
D.
Great pools and slides with a range of different heats to suit everyone and all ages, the slides are great for the kids and even adrenaline junkies as the two small tubes are very speedy! Clean experience, which is not something you often find at most public pools.
M.
With 3 pools (1 large), 2 quick slides and 1 not so fast (warm water though) and a kids water play area this was a grand way to chill out after a long drive.
We stayed in the smallest of cabins (one room) and for one night it was fine. Check before you book how many rooms you actually get :)
N.
Went here with the kids on a chilly winters day but the entire park uses thermally heated water, so we only felt it outside the pools. The walk down the hill is a pest, so be sure you're fit enough to walk down and up (people with mobility challenges can get access by vehicle with permission).
The pools are great fun and the amenities were clean, if a little run down. The best thing about going in winter was being the only people using the slides. It's an additional $7 pp to use the slides, which I think should be included in the entry fee in winter when the crowds are low.
It's good fun for all!
B.
Absolutely fantastic camping and pool experience. Definitely one of the easiest and most convenient campsites I have stayed on anywhere in the world. Staff are super accomodating. Campsites are generally quite generous, able to handle more than one large tent.
the Camp Kitchen is superbly equipped with urns, fridges, freezers, barbecues, chilled filtered water, even sets of knives and forks and plates should you have forgotten yours.
The unisex bathrooms are beautifully finished and very well set up for privacy.
The pools are a delight, my kids managed to run up and down the stairs for the slides for 11 straight hours...
D.
Very good pools had good swim
J.
Brilliant family resort, the pools are amazing. I make sure to go back at least once a year because it's just such a brilliant place to go and relax. I loved it as a child also. It just seems to keeping growing and getting better every year. 100% recommend it to all.
W.
Spent the night in this awesome place. The hospitality is up there with the neighbors,The Hilton. Excellent service, informed and accomadtion world class. Beautiful.
Will come again.
K.
This is a good all rounder. While my wife enjoyed an hours massage therapy I soaked in the pools and our children had a great time with the water playground and hydro slides. A much improved DeBretts from years ago.
J.
We stayed in a lodge in late June. The accommodation was perfect with heat pumps, electric blankets and underfloor heating in the areas where there were tiles or lino. The lodge was very tidy and very modern. The location was great as were the views. The hot water pools were a bonus being free with our package. We used the pools daily and absolutely loved them. Great family holiday.
Staff were professional and helpful.
Will return for sure.
S.
Cute little room fully serviced, the shared bathrooms, showers and kitchens are very clean. The little pool around the back is really pretty at night with all the steam and lights. Lovely little spot tucked away but close to town.
A.
Great place, especially if you make use of the private family hot pools 👌
E.
The day spa is amazing. We had the mud wrap package, and the indulgence package. Both left us feeling relaxed and amazing. Very friendly therapists.
The pools were lovely. Unfortunately the spa pools were not in operation.
Accommodation was very good. We stayed for two days. Beaitiful view from our lodge cabin. The only thing I could complain about is that we were only supplied a small milk on our first day, then after that we had to buy our own.
M.
I love this place, about to go here for our 3rd time I can't wait!!!
K.
We love this accommodation. The rooms have a great style and are clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and the couches were both pull out beds that suited our family well. I would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
M.
Stayed in a Villa. Top spot. Great views. Had everything we needed. Lights well placed. bathroom had heater plus no foggy mirror. Used the Spa services. Best back massage ever. And to top.it off, soak in the hot pools. Couldn't fault a thing
K.
We loved our stay here..one of the best motor home parks we have come across. The toilets and showers were super clean. Kitchen was clean and had a bbq and good space to just chill. We will def stay again when we are back
C.
amazing spa pool and slide. perfect for getaways and very impressive at night times because of the amazing lights display. there is a warm pool and another pool for those wishing for an even hotter experience. enjoy!!
J.
Very nice place to stay nice pools as well nice water park play area for the kids while the adults and/or kids enjoy the hot water pools and nice restaurant with good food
O.
Nice and hot. A bit noisy but this is just me. Amazing for the kids though. Service was great!!!
S.
Nice relaxing and peaceful in the private pools. Such a nice soak and the staff were awesome!
D.
Great place to stay, facilities excellent, kitchens exceptionally clean. Only used showers at hot pools which were good. Was in motorhome so do not know about rooms.
B.
Beautifully clean, quiet and fitted out. Loved the hot pool and slides right on the resort doorstep. I dropped a star because the daily servicing was forgotten on one of of days. We will definitely stay at DeBretts again.
A.
Lots of fun, especially for the kids!
T.
The faclities are clean but slightly dated. There were heaps of people. I especially liked the fact that we didn't have to pay anything extra to use the Private pools. i.e. still pay the adult entry but we could select the private pools and even pick the water temperature. The facilities for kids looked great! Will definitely visit again.
D.
The stand alone units are really great and brand new. The kitchen is very well stocked with an oven, stove, crock pot and electric skillet. It was a bit confusing that you had to pay extra for the pools, but that's because they are mineral hot springs pools and are a tourist attraction that anyone can go to, even if you're not staying at the resort.
W.
We went here as a day visitor and what great place to go for a swim. The only thing I missed is a large indoor pool.
P.
When I stayed here in a camper van I loved and so did my kid. Would highly recommend staying here.
c.
Loved it :) Room was nice and clean and had a homely feeling to it. Staff were amazing!
Only downfall is still having to pay to use the hotpool facility even though guests get a 50% discount.
Other than that we had an amazing time and wished we had spent more time here.
C.
Had a great stay in a very modern and clean suite. Would stay again no problems. Only one major negative about our stay. They still charge us to use the thermal pools. Another $40 plus for the family. We feel ripped off by this.
R.
Amazing service, the staff are frendly and so helpful with activities around taupo. The room was clean and tidy and having the pool&spa walking distance from the room made the whole weekend feel like a vacation.
B.
The hot pools rate a 4, very relaxing after an MTB ride, especially the bubble bench.
The campground is mixed, being so close to a carpark & tourist bus pick up / drop off its very noisy at all hours, however the facilities are modern, tidy and have great showers
K.
$46 for the private spa for a 45 minute dip, more then enough time if you chose the right temperature unit.
Private spa price includes full pool access once finished
D.
Went at dusk
Gorgeous setting colorful lights
Clean water choice of temperature
Water play areas for children
Bubbling water for soothing,
Fabulous relax time
E.
We LOVED our stay. We got an off-season mid-week deal for a chalet for $150 a night (up to 4 people) and it was well worth it. The chalet is up to date and while small spacious enough to feel comfortable in. Everything was spic-and-span and the full size fridge and dishwasher were a real bonus. There was a good-sized flat-screen tv we didn't use because we were at the hot pools so much (free with your stay)! A great place only a few minutes away from the lakefront and restaurants.
K.
A very organized, well maintained camp offering privacy on many of the camping sites. Great amenities that are clean and attractive. Proximity to the hot pool is a real plus. It's a camp we have used regularly as it's always a good experience
M.
We've stayed 2 nights at DeBretts superior lodge and were amazed at the facility. The underfloor heating was a bonus treat to our feet and the dishwasher made cleaning up a whole lot easier. Daily room service were provided with fresh towels and tea/ coffee re-fills. The thermal and swimming pool is as child friendly as it gets and our 2 year old simply couldn't have enough of it. We especially enjoyed the private thermal rooms that were tucked away from the bustles of the main pools and webcam!!
The staff were very accommodating as we had to swap our bookings to a later date and they've made us felt very welcome from the start of our arrival. We'll definitely plan our next stay here
A.
This place was great. There were different temperature pools, private room pools included with our room rental and you could pick what temperature water you wanted. The water slide was amazing 🤩
S.
Love DeBretts, have been coming here for years. Beautiful clean facilities and lovely staff, we stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge which was expensive would be nice to have free pool entry for that price. Otherwise absolutely lovely.
R.
Stayed in one of the motel units for 5 nights and enjoyed it very much. An added bonus was the use of the hot pool complex on site. Really friendly, helpful staff, and good facilities. Perfect spot as a base during winter or summer holidays in the central north island.
R.
Decent price and great place. So shame that I havr only found out of the place. Nice locay. Good water. Theres slids, tables with shades, bucket for clothings cold water warm springs water and kids playground. AMAZING SPOT for family to visit
E.
Loved going here. The cabin was a good size , clean and nicely decorated. It was nice you got half price on the pools and waterslides. Which you could come back and forth though out the day untill 9pm.
D.
Wow you can't go past here for a motor camp. Pet and child friendly. Facilities were 10 out of 10. Even got a thank you txt for coming.
C.
Didnt use the pools. Just one night stayin a very clean and tidy little chalet which had its own bathroom. Very pl easant staff at reception
M.
Best selection of pools we have seen so far. On a sunny day lovely with young kids. The pools and facilities are really showing its age though and the prices are quite steep even for visitors of the campgrounds.
L.
The spa with a variety of hot pools is very nice and relaxing. We stayed at the campground at DeBretts and only had to pay 11 instead of 22 $ so the price was ok but I think the normal price is pretty expensive, the waterslides are also charged extra . Also the toilets in the spa were dirty. The campground was also pretty expensive (27$ powered site). The bathrooms, the showers and the kitchen were very clean. The kitchen didn't have any equipment even if the website said it would be 'fully equipped'. The staff was nice and there is a nice playground for the kids.
I.
Nice place to relax in the evening. I did expect more hot pools options at different temperatures and the changing rooms could be nicer. I'm also not too sure the hyroslides are made for full grown adults! I ended up with bruising on my ribs after going airborne...and wasn't even trying to go fast. Just a wee tip.
Overall, I'd be interested to see if it would be any better during the day. Certainly has nothing on Hanmer Springs.
k.
We arrived late & staff were very helpful. Toilets / showers much flasher than usual, maybe underfloor heating? I dont think we got a discount at the pools though
A.
This was a great spot to "refuel" during our adventure. It was halfway into our trip and after a very cold (but very fun and breathtakingly beautiful) camping excursion I was ready to thaw with a little hot springs R&R! Great amenities, hot water, kitchen bbq etc... perfect resting place to recoup some energy!
I.
While it is a little expensive DeBretts does have nice pools. Not as good as Hamner Springs. Would be good to add another small hot tub beside a cold plunge pool. Also some other activities. Not sure why the pool behind the change rooms looked like some waste water.
z.
Loved it! Heated doors in the changing rooms makes it so Much nicer when u exit. Also great stuff for the kids . hydro slides and kids water park. Lots of different temperatures to choose from makes it great for everyones taste
M.
Always a great way to spend an afternoon. We had a private pool, no wait.
S.
Top, Top, Top. One of the best camping in Newzealand. Very helpful and friendly staff. A lot things to do like Hot water Pools and spa. Nice View, central 4 all aktivities in Taupo.
r.
A rather deluxe holiday park. Sites were well defined and the use of hedges give a reasonable illusion of privacy. Amenities block quite modern and extremely well maintained, though some people may be a bit taken aback by the shared unisex toilets and showers.
l.
This place is amazing. Great staff, the best bathroom facilities I have seen. (Heated bathroom floors.. Whaattttt..) Immaculate. Unisex but didn't care. The private hot pools were hot. The public hot and cold pools and sludes looked awesome. Quiet powered site..
Definitely would come back here and make this a base to explore more.
C.
We arrived at 8.30 at night. This was one hour before they closed. Was disappointed to realise they had charged us full price and yet the slides were not working and that they started to drain the pools while we were still in them. Other than that it seemed a nice venue with clean maintained changing rooms.
A.
I used the spa pools ... the water was so relaxing, I really enjoyed it. For the entry price the facilities are lower standard than I would expect, they are showing their age and do slightly lower the satisfaction of going there.
H.
We went in nearing 8.30pm as they close at 9.30pm. Please note there is a hill you have to walk down so if you have issues with walking down hills or bad knees etc perhaps ring ahead so you can get permission to drive down. They have plastic containers you can put your things in however I would not bring valuables as it can get really packed with the crowds. Also note the pools are all so very close together. There are spa's where anyone can jump in however these are not majorly huge so be prepared to get up close and personal with whoever is in your Spa. There are private spas but these get drained at 8.30pm. Once you are done you have a beautiful nature walk up the hill lit up with coloured lights in some places.
C.
State a couple nights in their Villa hot pools in the winter we'll use their private ones recommend
R.
I do love the largeness of the villa and the cooking/kitchen area. It’s nice to enjoy a bottle of local New Zealand wine with your honey while cooking. (There was not a pan in the room, weird right? But there were pots...)
There is a “pamper me because I deserve it”spa. The spa treatments are awesome! Be prepared to throw down $60-$150 NZD. At least that will also buy you access to their mineral hot pools as well. (Otherwise I think it’s an extra $50/person to access the pools). These pools are awesome though! There’s also three awesome waterpark slides. Yes, they are fun for everyone (as long as you’re tall enough).
Now let’s be real about the negatives -
Nothing is more frustrating than returning from a long day of adventures only to be denied of internet. Neither WiFi nor cell service works here. The place is about an $18 cab ride from town each way...
The places do not have a lot of privacy (during the day the maintenance workers were lurking outside peering inside at us, kinda creepy...)
Price point is not absurd IF privacy is respected and IF WIFI were to actually work or even my cell service.
WIFI is super crucial for international travelers because international travel cell plans can cost an additional $130/mo (or more) for only 2gb data.
So when WiFi signal strength is non existent I would consider a different location.
V.
Very modern clean facilities. Great staff and the hot pools are lovely. Set in tropical palmed gardens that are lit up after dark with multi coloured lights.
D.
Ina and Gemma were our masseuses and they did a phenomenal job. The private baths are really nice and come free with the massage. They also have some really fun slides on the property, but supposedly you have to pay extra to do those. Probably still worth it, as they were a lot of fun. We unintentionally snuck on them for like 8 slides.
K.
My partner and 2 kids stayed the night at debretts 10th june 20 and the main reception, cabins were excellent and friendly.. he then said the lady down in pool reception was rude and seem to be very upset and my partner and kids were charged the full price not half priced..
Overall they loved the cabin..
J.
Expensive, but they empty the pools daily and facilities are excellent. Kids love the slides, but for a family with three kids you will get no change from $80NZD if you own a Holiday place in Taupo take a rates bill for a discount.
M.
On the 4th of May 2018 my partner and I stayed at a powered site at DeBretts in Taupo. Instantly we were overwhelmed by the quality of this holiday park. The gardens and sites themselves were of the highest quality. The amenities were like no other holiday park we have ever stayed at, very deserving of a 5 star rating. DeBretts, your park is run by wonderful, friendly staff and is extremely clean and inviting. Would 100% recommend anyone passing through Taupo stay here. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
C.
awesome place. cabins amazing. very clean and tidy. toilets and showers spotless.great family pool waterside etc .great for kids you don't need to go to town everything in 1 place. go have a holiday there. 😊
N.
I would love to thank Kris White for his support and expectional service off finding my wedding ring that fell in between the pillars he done a wonderful job going under the shelter to look for it I was in tears when he found it thank you also had alot off fun with the family at the pools great place to relax..
F.
Place is very good, facility spotless, shovers and toilets always clean, kitchen and dinnig area have plenty of space. Cabin was comfotable and bed was perfect.
The only minus point was WiFi - not availble for Facebook from the cabin room but nobody told this to us, so I spent several hours resetting my computor to find out that we have to go to the Reception area for the Facebook. All other web sites were accessible from the cabin/room.
We have been also surprised that we have to pay entry tickets for the spa pool - not included in price, but the name suggest you booked in the spa resort?
T.
Thank you... for not being mandated.
T.
Amazing accommodation and facilities. Great for kids as well. Highly recommended!!!
J.
It's fun, staff are absolutely amazing 😍 and I love the waterpark too 😁
D.
Always visit for private spa. Little dated but clean and tidy facilities
r.
Whole family loved it especially with the hot pools just a hop and a skip away highly recommend for families
A.
Went late in day, pretty coloured lighting added to ambience. Range of temps in pools. Closes at 930 later than other pools near by. Great before bed, sleep relaxed
A.
Amazing place, friendly staff. Deffinatly coming back!
K.
Always a fantastic place to soak. Awesome hot pools, great for families and very reasonably priced. We travel here from Cambridge regularly, just for these pools
도.
I didn’t stay at the resort - only went for the spa. Overall, the facilities were of satisfactory condition. All staff members were friendly and helpful. The private spa was good too but a little facility upgrade might help - a bit rusted here and there.
M.
Nice relaxing spot to soak in the different heated pools from warm to hot depending on your liking. Slides are a hit for the kids and the water park feature is nice for the younger kids.
S.
Visited the hot pools as we usually do. Very soothing and enjoyable! Although didn't stay this time round, will look at doing again when back in Taupo, always a great experience.
E.
Great place to stay with many activities to do in and out. You can eat delicious food at the café and swim around at the thermal pools. In Taupo in general there are many great things to do like look at the stunning Huka Falls, eat delicious seafood at the Prawn Park and have a swim in the lake itself! All in all its a great place to stay.
N.
The thermal bath is reasonably priced and a lot of fun on a chilly day. Priced at $22 per person, you get to use a private bath @37 or 40 deg for 45 mins or 30 mins, and use the regular thermal pool for as long as you like. It's fantastic for a cold winter day
K.
stayed here 22 years ago and was just as impressed now as then, great clean site, fabulous kitchen TV and laundry areas. The hot pools are just marvellous so relaxing.
A.
A great spot for camping the pitches are level and solid. Each has its own outside table. Facilities are great and really clean. Great bathrooms. Well priced and worth a stay!
B.
Lovely clean faculty highly recommend.
H.
Really nice and friendly at reception. Decent sites and nice amenities. Unfortunately we weren't able to stay due to a power issue with our van, but the staff were very understanding when we explained our van tripped the breaker and provided a full refund.
T.
Great place, the pools were lovely, clean and warm.
K.
A wonderful place to escape and relax. There's a wide selection of pools with different temperatures, pick the perfect one for you and let your troubles melt away. A spa therapy centre and hydro-slide are also available.
P.
Very good, but not quite 5 stars, as we were lead to believe. Been to sites with better location and facilities. Not sure how you score Eco rating when you don't provide sufficient recycling bins. Anyway, it is good and worth going down the hot pools.
C.
Stayed in a Lake View Villa, near new and very tidy. Great facilites for families.
Thermal hot pools facilites need some TLC and the pools were very busy (not very relaxing having people swim over you).
d.
Our meals were of a high standard, very enjoyable
C.
Stayed at powered campervan site. Pools were fun. Facilities and showers were very clean and new. Great holiday park!!
B.
The bungalow we booked has an open kitchen and beds for 4. Very simple plain looking and not that big, nothing that I was expected from a resort except for the hotspring pools but with entrance fee to get in. Bathroom only provides soap without any toiletries. Room is quite clean and provided clean towels but without daily cleaning services.
Hotspring pools are quite big but can see stains around the pool area. Shower area doesn't provide any soap and shampoo, not what I expected from a hotspring resort.
T.
Would've liked more seating in the hottest pool but otherwise it was good
T.
Situated in a natural amphitheatre, the pools have a good atmosphere and the hydroslides are great for the kids (and make up for them not being allowed to put their head under the water of the pools due to their mineral nature). On the downside there are not enough showers and the pools seem to be ageing and could be kept a lot cleaner.
R.
It was lit! We got a massive private spa room for next to nothing with accomodation on non powered site, also very cheap mid november. AMAZING AMENITIES!! shared frisges, commerical kitchen, modern and very private feeling shared bathrooms and shower blocks. Highly reccomend
M.
Great hotel, situated only a few minutes from Lake Taupo. The view during sunset is phenomenal. The rooms were spacious and clean, and it felt like staying in a home rather than a hotel.
S.
The pools were clean and the spa massage was fantastic. Can't wait for next time.
k.
Lovely place and super friendly staff
R.
Home away from home ,loved the pools the amenities very clean ,great showers
T.
Loved it was nice to relax. The kids enjoyed themselves on the slides and children's playground
W.
Loved our two day stay here. Great facilities and play areas for the kids.
D.
A nice place for a rest, especially if you are on the road and would like to take your time to regenerate :-) Relatively cheap and allows multiple entries and exits the same day. Better go there in the morning, before noon - hardly anybody in the pools.
N.
Set up is good, but the water is not warm enough (in comparison to Rotorua, Queenstown hot springs) for the temperatures they're said to be. Water slides however, are an awesome addition
T.
Our family had a fantastic time here , great accommodation. The water park was very high quality and all the staff we encountered were very helpful & friendly. Would highly recommend!
G.
Took my daughter and had fun - but it's really over priced and looking run down. The three hydro slides are probably the fastest, freakiest and out of control ones I have been on in New Zealand - they don't appear to be made for adults (there are signs stating adults use at own risk) - could be a positive or negative depending on what your after. The kids enjoyed them and seemed to go much slower.
V.
Amazing campground and nice hot pools! Would recommend, really nice and clean facilities too!
D.
Nice place but keep in mind there is a 90kg weight limit on the slides!!! Was gutted I couldn't go on them with my daughter
V.
Beautiful hot spring resorts. Friendly staff and great service.
S.
Stayed in a cabin for two nights and had a good soak in the hot pools. Clean, tidy and well maintained. Great little break for a family with kids.
D.
Great place to stay. Excellent facilities. Great staff.
E.
Great place for families 10/10 - 5 kids and 2 adults we had a fantastic time.
J.
Great place to rest for a few days and enjoy the onsite natural hot pools. 5 stars if they fix the window latches in the unit so the windows close properly :)
C.
Lovely place to swim is expensive but worth the money and great hospitality
P.
Pricey but pretty much perfect otherwise. Has a relaxing hot tub right beside a kids pool. Perfect for parents. Plus they provide lots of floaties.
G.
Fantastic place i have ever seen, everything is available, washrooms and kitchen is really awesome. Nice, beautiful and quiet place.
J.
Lovely double hot springs one at 38 and other about 42C. Automated lockers 2$ and spa available along with $$towel rental. Great water slides.
L.
Family holiday stay recommended to all. Beautiful, clean, tidy, friendly n very helpful. Loved our stay and would do it again. Only down thing was that the wifi was very slow. Other than that we loved it.
I.
We had a wonderful time and the service was outstanding. The homes are amazing to stay in. We stayed in the chalet and the pools were awesome fun for the kids. Thanks again and we look forward to another trip there
C.
We had a party of 19...had quite a big incident here, but was very happy with management and the way they helped and handled things
M.
New gondola amazing. handled thousands of people up the mountain on a Sunday no trouble. Restaurant at the top was struggling a bit. However prices were not exorbitant.
D.
Sensational Taupo hot pools... recommend a relaxing 45mins in the private pools then move across to the public pools. Awesome friendly staff, great stuff DeBretts!
J.
Had a powered site with campervan. Grounds are great, clean and plenty of fun for the kids with the hot springs, bouncing area (trampoline thing). Facilities top notch
b.
Slighty overpriced per individual, best enter as a group/family for special concessions. Parking area near pools available for the elderly & parents with babies in pushchairs. Others will need to walk down steep driveway as parking nearer pools is limited & at your own risk due to geothermal (silica spray & boiling water). Aside from that? Experience wonderful and lots of pools to choose from spa, hot & warm mineral pools, childrens play park, 3 hydroslides, medical room, very friendly not in your face staff, heaps of tables, chairs, lounge chairs & facilities (changing rooms, lockers, loos, tech charging ports, hot drinks, snaks, icecrams etc. No restaurants but Hilton Hotel closeby & accomodation. Come from Rotorua, Tokoroa & Australia. 😁😁😁😍😍😍
C.
Absolutely enjoyed the experience here! Professional masseuses who did a fantastic job with our thermal mud wrap experience at the Spa. Would most definitely return!
E.
Went to the spa resort for the hot pools. Premises clean. Staff friendly. Hot pools lovley to relax with different temperatures to suit your mood. Quite expensive for a family.
M.
The pools at night were magical. Our toddler had the best nights sleep after a bath in them! Merticulously kept sites and every amenity available.
L.
A lot of children and very busy. Clean-ish. Was expecting something much more relaxing, less noisy, less busy. Go there if you have kids, they'll love it. Don't if you expect a relaxing romantic afternoon/evening
J.
Surprisingly good. Not expected something like this. Good property, simple but good units, installations well mantained, great service and the pool area was great. Many options to choose from. Very happy of staying here. 👍👍
J.
Excellent fir family time and holidays
J.
Great for a family holiday.
Very good facilities & helpful friendly staff.Would definitely recommend!
P.
Clean, fresh surroundings, excellent staff. Very enjoyable stay.
s.
Always enjoy our stays at DeBretts, excellent modern facilities friendly staff & the hot pools are a welcome relief during the winter months.
M.
Room looks great nice bathroom and pools are great fun for the kids nice large tv but remote was missing it's battery cover and found bulk crumbs and rubbish under cusions when looking for battery cover clearly not been cleaned for a long time
s.
Great place to stop and relax and refresh your enegy for the next day.
J.
Definitely recommend getting a massage. We got a couples "Fassage", and weren't charged extra for use of the couples room. So you can get a joint massage for the price of whatever massages you pick out. (And the massages were AMAZING). Also, you get to soak in the hot pools for free with th purchase of a massage, and they have a good number of private rooms/pools that are first come first serve. Very nice place and would love to go again if we come back to Taupo!
N.
Loved it. Friendly helpful staff, pool access and warm rooms
P.
It is really pretty to look at but overall the hot pools are average, pretty dirty and changing rooms were full of rubbish
G.
Great hotpools and kids waterplay, very reasonably priced and they have deal times too. We visited and it was great fun for the kids, recommend a visit if you're in Taupo.
M.
My family and I stayed there from 12 -14 May..The staff were lovely, the accommodation clean and comfy and the pools were awesome.
They has some much to offer for families and the Chalet we stayed in..perfect.
E.
Fantastic facilities in a beautiful location. We are regulars! Love the hot pools too. Campsites are private with some protection from the elements.
M.
Nice place to go and sit in a hot pool. It's a little bit expensive so people need to be aware
L.
This place is the Da Bomb! Quiet, spacious, unbelievably clean and pleasant toilet and shower facilities. The hit pools are wonderful.
L.
Great place to stay if you are travelling through the North Island with kids. They love the water slides and jumping pillow. Staff are helpful. Accomodation is clean and tidy. Would recommend
L.
Good place to stop with family or just as a couple. Hot pools well worth the stay. Recommend
R.
AMAZING!! Facilities are clean, tidy, well presented and everything you need is within the complex. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!
B.
Pleasant water. Great place for kids. Some pools were closed when we were there - disappointing it wasn't mentioned on the website.
M.
Good motorhome parking. Great swimming facilities to suit all needs. Very well supervised. Go in
Evenings for lighting effects in pool areas. Staff very helpful...
M.
Great friendly staff. Beautiful quiet setting. A true oasis. Great hydrolides and picnic areas.
B.
Very clean with excellent facilities. I was especially impressed with the friendliness of both the reception and cleaning staff. Very good value for money - we'll be back for sure!
N.
Nice neat accomodation with everything you need including dishwasher! The price is bery reasonable compared to most of Taupo accomodation. The hot pools are a gem!
R.
Loved every minute at the Resort. Clean and everything was easily accessible. Spa, Waterpark and Cafe was amazing with great service.
s.
Been here a few times now and had a great stay every time and the discount for the hot pools attached are also a nice attachment to staying here
K.
Stayed in a powered campervan site. Clean and brand new showers and toilets with underfloor heating. Tv room and good sized kitchen. One of the better holiday parks around.
R.
Stayed with Family and grandchildren in 3 separate chalets. Excellent accommodation with all linen and towels supplied. Serviced daily
A.
Really friendly staff especially the ladies at the reception and at the swimming pool. Lovely clean motel unit and so warm with all the heaters and the electric blankets especially when it was so cold outside.
P.
Was there for private sauna . Nice deep pools. Good that I went with a resident from Taupo as was cheaper to get in with proof of address
D.
Absolutely brilliant place! The hot pools are relaxing and refreshing, kids have a blast on the slides and are exhausted at the end of the day... Who could all for more 😀
D.
Clean and tidy place, motel rooms are good size. Pools are good. Good things for kids to do. And close enough to the lake and town
S.
Quiet and clean, all the facilities are very good. The spa is awesome and cheaper when you are a customer. Want to come back! :)
S.
Was a little hard to find but the massage itself and the experience at the spa was flawless!
R.
Another great stay we always appreciate the service at this place as it is important and that's why we keep going back.
Tidy grounds, friendly cleaners, good attendant service also.
B.
Actually really enjoy myself here. Only reason it was a 3 star is because there were a few issues we ran into with our stay. They booked us under the wrong cabin which had it's complications and the oven wasnt working.
T.
The service was good and friendly sadly our room was defiantly not anywhere to what we had thought it would be after all the review's we had read and the cost of the room the bathroom and toilet floor had not been washed i know this as there was hair and foot prints in there the bench hadnt been wiped down properly and the carpet had dried up food on it we have 2 children under 5 so i wasnt impressed. Also the sofer had ripes in it the remote didnt work properly and was taped up and there was not much choice om the sky channel's we do stay in motels/hotels a bit at all different ranges of price we wouldn't be staying again for the amount you pay.
S.
Great place to stay even when camping. The facilities are very clean. Love the hot pools. Reasonable price for a camp site. Close to Taupo main centre.
S.
Cute little room fully serviced, the shared bathrooms, showers and kitchens are very clean. The little pool around the back is really pretty at night with all the steam and lights. Lovely little spot tucked away but close to town.
D.
The stand alone units are really great and brand new. The kitchen is very well stocked with an oven, stove, crock pot and electric skillet. It was a bit confusing that you had to pay extra for the pools, but that's because they are …
B.
Absolutely fantastic camping and pool experience. Definitely one of the easiest and most convenient campsites I have stayed on anywhere in the world. Staff are super accomodating. Campsites are generally quite generous, able to handle more …
M.
With 3 pools (1 large), 2 quick slides and 1 not so fast (warm water though) and a kids water play area this was a grand way to chill out after a long drive. …
k.
We arrived late & staff were very helpful. Toilets / showers much flasher than usual, maybe underfloor heating? I dont think we got a discount at the pools though
L.
Family holiday stay recommended to all. Beautiful, clean, tidy, friendly n very helpful. Loved our stay and would do it again. Only down thing was that the wifi was very slow. Other than that we loved it.
D.
A nice place for a rest, especially if you are on the road and would like to take your time to regenerate :-) Relatively cheap and allows multiple entries and exits the same day. Better go there in the morning, before noon - hardly anybody in the pools.
N.
Went here with the kids on a chilly winters day but the entire park uses thermally heated water, so we only felt it outside the pools. The walk down the hill is a pest, so be sure you're fit enough to walk down and up (people with mobility …
L.
Really enjoyed our stay, the grandchildren were so happy with the pools slides and bouncy pillow. Lovely clean accommodation, definitely recommended.
T.
I would really like a normal pool that is heated so we can swim under water but it was amazing 😍
N.
Lovely relaxed place with amazing views of the sunset over lake Taupo. Brilliant spa attached great to unwind and for the kids. Pools are hot though! 😁
F.
The only thing I can suggest they could do to improve their services is to get the massage staff up skilled to include being able to offer massages to pregnant women as they're apparently not trained to do those 😔
C.
Nicely laid out. Multiple thermal pools as well as water slides and a water play area.
R.
Downhill to the pools but uphill when you finish - bit of a climb when you are old. Great staff and nice private pools. Wonderful on winter's day.
J.
1st class holiday park. Beautiful sites and gardens. Great facilities with underfloor heating in the bathroom. If you're in Taupo you need to stay here!
S.
Everything was right with this accommodation and after a weekend of travel the comfort of a spacious lake villa was a blessing, we arrived in the evening and reception was helpful and professional.
The room had underfloor heating, was modern, clean with a full kitchen here is the view from the villa. Mt Tongariro, Mt Ngauruhoe, Mt Ruapehu.
S.
Great place! Friendly helpful staff, great rooms. Excellent for children, safe and affordable! Would absolutely go back again
G.
I thought it was well priced, $22 for 45mins in a private pool then use of the main facilities.
My only complaint was that the changing rooms were a bit run down
P.
We tried to stay here. We were really looking forward to soaking in the thermal pools after our Tongiro crossing the day before. Unfortunately when we plugged our CampaSouth van into the power it popped the breaker. Yep, another site that the old CampaSouth vans don't work in. This is not the fault of the campground. The van needs to be updated to work everywhere or just accept that it doesn't work in the newer campgrounds. We told the helpful people at reception who told us to complain to CampaSouth as it wasn't right and they gave us our money back. Our third attempt to find a compatible old school power campground in Taupo worked.
紐.
OMG , one of the best place you should stay and price is very reasonable according to the facilities they have. The staff is helpful plus it close to the spa pool. You will receive 50% off spa pool if you stay there. Best Regards Vincent H (VAZ)
k.
Good modern shared facilities, probably need bigger fridges/freezers but good bbq, jumping pillow, clean showed and toilets. Clean cabin with hot plate etc.
N.
Excellent. Very clean and tidy, with great amenities. Staff are friendly. Hot pools are a bonus.
E.
Hot pools have a good variety of temperatures and with the free use of inflatable rings, it is ideal for children of all ages.
M.
The water slides are so much fun and great for the kids and the hot pools are an amazing way to wind down and relax while your kids have a blast on the water park
K.
Beautiful mineral pools that intantly relax and soothe. The lockers are very spacious, and they offer towel hire and private pools.
T.
The resort is close to city centre and there is hot pool within the resort but need to pay. The kitchen and bathing facilities are also good.
O.
Excellent family location with hot pools, slides for 1,20m+ children. All is clean, in good condition and fair priced, liked it!
R.
Kids enjoy their time and you can come and go as you please for the whole day as long as you keep your receipt don't go into the mineral pool if you have open cuts or nicks or you could get them infected
M.
The personal was super friendly and helpful. Great area for a stay with top WiFi. 10/10 would recommend!
B.
The Studios are a great price, great location, comfy and clean.
Couldn't imagine spending multiples of that next door at the Hilton.
Friendly Staff and great facilities also
M.
We’ll worth it, top staff, I be back
L.
Absolutely loved the hot pools. Rooms are modern and clean. Would recommend for family holiday. 10 minutes from town.
G.
Spotlessly clean, well maintained, well laid out. Pools are awesome. Highly recommend this camp to all travelers!
B.
Spent nearly 2 hrs soaking in the various pools... Was awesome 😊
R.
The hot pools and mini water park were good. However, the people at the massage centre weren't a friendly bunch, except for the receptionist.
B.
Nice place to relax. Lots of options for kids and not too crowded in peak times. Many pools to choose from. Food from cafe reasonably priced.
f.
I expected more but still nuce place to go to.Amazed with their drier coz Im not taking home very wet swimsuits
L.
Good for swimming, 5 sun loungers in the whole place so not super good for soaking up sun. Picnic and lots of other seated areas in shade !
D.
Really great place to relax and unwind. Some of the best geothermal pools in Toupo.
M.
Size of the area is not overwhelming. You get a day pass and come and go till 9pm. Went there in the morning, went elsewhere, and came back for an evening swim.
I.
Very clean and tidy. Good parking for our Motor Home with power.
H.
Very Nice camping with top notch facilities. Quite close from noisy road. A few more pots and pans in the kitchen would not kill
V.
Great Holiday Park. New and clean facilities. Have everything you need and more. Only downside it might be busy with school camps over the summer.
