I was here for the 11 year anniversary it was such a beautiful visit to listen bells been rung I come here every year to pay my respects to those who loss there lives in the earthquake I remember that day like it was yesterday it was sad to see so many names of 185 people. Anthony

Oi Manawa : Christchurch earthquake memorial is a deserving architecture along the banks of the Avon river. In honour of those lost during the quake, the curved marble wall has their names carved into it. Serene, contemplative, sorrowful in its beauty. This walk along the Avon won't take much of your time, but will remain quite timeless in your mind.

Wonderful tribute to the victims of the earthquake. A sight that serves as a quiet reminder that the people of Christchurch remembers the victims and will never forget the devastation of 22nd February.

You just had to feel, for the ones that lost their lives on that day. A sad place to be...😥

Its a memorial. And a beautiful one. If you dont give it 5 stars you dont belong in christchurch.

Absolutely stunning. The way the shadows of the trees fell on the memorial. A must go to for remembering what happened that day.

Only saw in pouring rain, but still able to read inscriptions clearly at night. Added bonus of Maori karakia & horn being sounded which added to the sad atmosphere.

A very beautiful and heart wrenching place, especially as we visited 2 days on from the anniversary of this tragedy. The memorial, flowers and messages were lovely and our hearts and thoughts go out to all who were in one way or another involved.

This place is absolutely beautiful. Decided to go for a walk with my 7months old boy. While my partner is getting a procedure done at the hospital. Sat there for ages. Beautiful memorial. Great vibes. A lovely place to think about and remember those loved ones that we lost. Highly recommend to go for a visit. Will take you all of 5mins to sock up the scenery and visit the memorial wall.

It was good to visit the memorial of the Canterbury Earthquake for those who died during the aftershock and loved ones who survived from it existed, God bless NZ

Very tastefully displayed, details in English and the language of the deceased.

Very peaceful here, i got quite emotional reading all the notes and flowers left by people. A nice way to commemorate these people. Visited again two years later, again so awful to read the pain in the letters and notes of the people who lost people.

A both sombre and beautiful spot for the memorial to those who tragically lost their lives in the Christchurch Earthquake in Feb 2011. A must for all NZers to pay their respects. All the names are tastefully recorded in stone on the wall and there are some personal tributes. As Christchurch rises from the ashes, it is a fitting reminder of those who will not share the resurrection. Remember them.

New to the city mall Riverside Markets with good Parking close in Cambridge Terace and on the Eastside with a new carpark under construction will be finished before mid December.

I was a beautiful Monday afternoon when I visited this spot, people were enjoying their lunch in the river bank, a very sweet spot.

Seeing the story carved into stone with the 185 names of the victims was a sobering experience.
