When my partner suggested we take the tram, I was a bit apprehensive. I mean, really? That's for the kids, surely? But the staff patter was informative and entertaining. We got on and off a few times, and in the end nearly did three circuits just to hear what other drivers had to say - they all have a different routine, some more dad joke humorous, some historic with dates, and some more about the local and social aspects of the CBD before, during, and after the quakes. Highly recommended.

We throughly enjoyed our trip on the Tram All the drivers were fantastic at their commentary and knowledge of Christchurch, explaining about some of the business and how long they have been in Christchurch. We are looking forward to the extension of the tram ride. I was on crutches and both drivers were very helpful assisting me on and off the tram. The tram has a set of steps to help you into the tram.

What a unique and cool experience! Definitely a must for anyone visiting Christchurch. The driver was super nice and knowledgable. A great way to learn about the history and also the restoration of the city, plus you can jump on and off throughout the day to visit tourism attractions, the art gallery, shopping centre etc.

Definitely a unique experience and helps you skip a few steps here and there while hopping on and off of it to look around the city. The commentary from the drivers is wonderful and on the last few rounds we didn't even get off anymore and just enjoyed the ride. 25$ for a day pass is a good deal but we used ours from 2pm on so didn't get much of it so make sure you start early!

If you have the chance, book a reservation on the Tramway Restaurant. A four course meal and 2 1/2 hour tram ride around the inner city was a pure delight! The staff were all lovely and accommodating and the food was exquisite. I had a full vegan option and each course was beautifully presented and mouthwatering. A truly enjoyable experience that I will certainly do again!

The best way to see the inner-city. Beautiful heritage trams, the drivers are very informative, wee bits of information about specific buildings and events. The hop on hop off is great especially on cold wet days. We were able to purchase tickets off the driver, but there is a Tram shop at Cathedral Junction (near New Regent St end of the city). A bit of regret I wish we had purchased an annual pass we will visit again and I’ve never been on the Gondola.

Good. I would not say Great. You can basically walk around city centre instead of spending bucks to hop on and off in tram when the city centre is very small. Can skip this if you want to save a few bucks.

Wonderful little train for the lazy people who don't want to walk, there are places where cars can't go. First met Alan, tram driver, while he was starting his shift, what a wonderful lovely guy, great for Christchurch. After a few rides with different driver, I decided to stay on Alan's tram the whole ride because his commentary was the best, easy to understand.

Very nice and sweet experience. My husband booked this restaurant about one month ahead of my birthday and we had good time there celebrating together. The food was prepared nice, about average level of taste, and the vibes were absolutely cozy. We enjoyed eating and chatting in such a comfortable environment. Must do. The "Motormans" are perfect sightseeing guides. They stop their cars from time to time just to stand up and tell a random story or to answer questions. Its very interesting to watch how the old mechanical trams work. I really can recommend that. But do not take any combo package with other activities when you are student, other activities may have student discounts (for ex: Antarctica. Students price: 49. Price in a tram combo: 54). Get in touch with the prices before. 25$ pp. whole day ticket. We used it the whole day and enjoyed it.

We joined the Tram at Cathedral Square depot on the last circuit of the day, where the drivers swapped shifts. Our tram driver was Tim or Tom, and he was like a breath of fresh air, keeping a high spirited commentary going throughout the circuit. He interacted light-heartedly with the tram patrons and kept us all entertained. He is truly an asset to the tourism industry in Christchurch and embodies what it is to represent the city to a top level.

It is interesting to listen and have this tour - I gave it 4 stars because it is very slow ( walking is faster ) and the distance it passes short - so don’t expect it to be like the hop on hop off busses in the big cities although it is a really interesting experience and the staff is lovely 😊

Awesome tour, our driver was very informative and a pleasure to listen to. Punting on the Avon was lovely, quiet and romantic. Botanical gardens were nice however as it's winter not alot to see so would recommend going in any other season. The gondola was a nice ride and beautiful views particularly enjoyed the cart through Christchurch history at the top. The tram was a wee bit of a let down as it was later in the afternoon we were told it was on its last round so felt like we couldn't get off and take photos but we wondered around ourselves afterwards. Highly recommend!!

I got Christchurch Grand Tour from Christchurch Attractions & it was completely worth it. It gave me a Gondola ride, Punting on the Avon tour, Botanical Gardens Tour & free ride on Tram for 24 hours. The Grand Tour was completely worth the cost & highly recommended if you are visiting Christchurch.

The cozy atmosphere and friendly service from the whole team. You get to see the city centre while enjoying your dinner. The food quality itself is nothing special. We tried the 3 course menu. The appetiser is a cheese biskuit with some cream which taste good. You can choose the main course and dessert. We choose lamb and monkfish for the main course and kiwi cake and raspberry mousse. You can also opt for the wine pairing with the menu. I wish they put more effort in the main course. The lamb is a bit too rare. They do not have option if we want it done or not. The monkfish also a bit cold when served. The desserts were OK. Just a suggestion maybe you can ask the customers to choose the menu options while doing booking so that they can choose on how they want the meat to be done. However, in general recommend for a once in a lifetime experience in Christchurch. If the food quality is better maybe people will come back.

Nice tour of downtown Christchurch. There was great narration and information about the town. There are 2 loops and many stops a you can get on and off where you like. The trip gives much information about the several major quakes Christchurch has suffered through.

Beautiful experience. Hop on and off on this tram at any of the 19 spots around the town to visit the attractions in the city. Experienced tram drivers keep describing the places the tram covers. We took a 4 attraction combo tour that included tram at a discounted price. Its a bit pricey to do the tram alone, i guess $25 pp. Note: If you have a combo pass for attractions, you can board the tram at any stop but for other attractions you need to visit stop 1 (Information center) to buy actual tickets. Shuttle to Gandola starts at stop 2, and punting is available at stop 9 and 12.

We had a delightful trip around Christchurch with people from out of town. Tram driver excellent went out of his way to greet people answer questions. His commentary informative and even though I live in Chritchurch and up to date with many facts about Christchurch I learnt alot. Great journey to get a basic idea about the city and with the ability to get on and off especially if you started in the morning you have a great opportunity to explore this great city at a very affordable cost. Contrary to what the people in the ticket office say, your tram ticket CAN NOT be used to get a discount off the other attractions that are also sold in a bundle. You must buy the bundle. This aside the tour is fantastic, a nice variety of beautifully old trams in brilliant condition. Very smooth drivers and excellent on the PA with their very informative announcements.

I had high hopes based on others reviews. I was not disappointed! Food was amazing. My suggested meals are the pate entree, the lamb main, and the cheese dessert. I had the wine matching package and it was lovely. The views by the river are so nice now, such a treat. The experience is unique. To be honest, it is sort of pricey for 3 courses meal although the food is superb and delicious. The staff was very friendly and their service from greeting to the end is excellent. The atmosphere of the tram is gorgeous and my wife and I had a lovely evening. But if you want an even better experience then take a long-term local with you to point out the post EQ Changes. Great food but sadly no brief commentary about the amazing rebuild projects you see.

The Tramway transport system in Christchurch is a great way for a tourist to see the centre of the town. Once you are on board and bought your ticket from the informative and very friendly driver you can alight at any station, have a look around then get back on again and continue your journey. It is not very expensive and we have travelled on it twice in the last few years.

We had quite the experience even making it to our reservation. Christchurch is currently under a lot of construction which made driving and parking in the city a challenge. While running down the tram track (10 minutes late) the conductor saw us, stopped the tram, and greeted us with a handshake. The staff champagne and appetizers on our plate and ready for us. Their friendliness set the tone for a great evening of wine, food, and a family atmosphere with all other diners. It was an experience that we will never forget. Our suggestion would be to get there extra early, and ensure you know where the Tram Station One pickup is to avoid the stress we put on ourselves.

Very cool, worth it for all tourists, giving you a nice tour around the inner city in a relaxed and casual environment. The trams themselves were very well maintained, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately there was only one main tram line operating, as the other lines were still being redeveloped after the earthquakes, but it was still well worth it. A nice cheap and unique way to see the city.

I have yet to eat in the restaurant portion of the tram, I've only ridden it around town. It isn't the fastest way to get around town, but the conductors will give you some insight into the history of the town and the buildings you drive past. If you pay for a day pass you are able to embark/disembark at your leisure. The tram is worth using if you want to explore the highlights of the city in a day while limiting the amount of walking you do.

A good way to explore the city for the first time, it takes a couple of hours to get round but you can hop on and off as you please. The vintage trams are great fun and surprisingly comfortable as they clatter along and the conductor told us a lot about Christchurch leaving us wanting to find out more, which we then did on foot.

My partner and I are from Australia. We booked the tram rest months before coming over. It was a great experience and the food is delicious. We meet some awesome people on the tram who talk about the city of Christchurch as they were locals celebratn they anniversity.. The staff give away gifts to people who is celebratn long anniversaries or birthdays. 70th bde or 25th anniversary. etc. The only 2 thing I wish for is the tram driver gives us a history lesson of the city esp with information about earthquakes etc. Also when you first come onto the tram they give you a complementy sparkling wine and both of us dont drink that particular drink. We would of love to choose our drink. Besides that it was a great exp. Thankyou to Tram rest staff and NZ.

Not having visited Christchurch for several years we booked a grand tour on our way back from Picton. The tour was great and our driver Tony was excellent. Very natural and gave us lots of information in a very relaxed manner which was refreshing. We have only the highest praise for the tour, although being over 80 years of age, we found getting in and out of the punt on the Avon, a very interesting experience. Passionate and caring tour leaders. Tony and Greg told us a lot about CHCH, especially the post-quake restoration and development. They also shared about their personal stories growing up in the region, which helped us learn about the life in earlier days as well. On a side note, my 9-yr-o son felt unwell that particular morning when we joined the tour. He threw up once we arrived at the first spot - the punting shed. Tony and Gref reached out to the host and got the poor boy a glass of warm water to help him out a bit. Our sincerest appreciation to all three of them.

The food was great, however some of the other customers on board detracted from the overall experience of the night. I am unsure of the exact atmosphere that the owners are trying to create, but it MAY be beneficial if the restaurant were made for adults only. Alternatively, having one of the daily settings as an adult session may work, too.
