Definitely take a look inside the store while you are there too
A.
Visited this store with my family of 4 kids. Absolutely loved it. Found items we have never seen anywhere else. Got the replica British flintlock pistol, seal & wax, and others. Regretting not buying the replica musket.

Definitely worth the visit. Interactive and informative exhibitions on the first and second floors for all ages. The retail offering and selection amazing and nostalgic. The staff definitely made our day, they were brilliant and so friendly. We'll be back!
C.
Awesome spot 5 minutes from Kerikeri. The store was good and had lots of stuff, but the outside was even better, 2 cafes within 100 meters from the building.
S.
Always a pleasure to visit this historic part of the Country. KeriKeri is beautiful.
m.

Lovely view and peaceful time. Enjoyed the relaxing time with my family. Sure you can make a wish by throughout a gold coin 👏 maybe you will win first division of Lotto. 😆 give a try 👏👏👏

Beautiful shop. Great Lady called Tracy who was so informative about the history. So knowledgeable and so inspiring to listen to. I loved what she had to say about the area as I had my photo taken with my mother in 1974 when the bridge use to be there. So was surprised to see it gone 45 years later. Thankyou Tracy. You are a great historian of the Old Stone Store.
A.
Most certainly worth a trip here. One of the most beautiful spots and the Stone store is absolutely stunning inside and out with fantastic products and a museum up stairs. The person working was not very friendly hence 4 stars only.
L.
Such an interesting place with beautiful items on display or to purchase. Lovely people working there who are so kind and helpful. Excellent customer service .
S.
Walking through a historically building that has been well kept and full of interesting objects (for sale) was fascinating.
S.
Simple and cute place to see history things. There are coffee place and restaurant close. Also, a beautiful garden, flowers and lake.
B.
Awesome store. Rich in history. Good scenic views. Has guided tours.
H.
Iconic, historic attraction that is curated to a high standard.
D.
Gorgeous old building with equally gorgeous food! Highly recommend the pork belly. Wonderful friendly staff to top it off.
J.
Good place to visit and the structure of the stone buildibg is quite amazing. This may not be extra ordinary to those who live in a country of lots of stone buildings. Inside it sells hand made items. There are 2 restaurant across the road one on the left and other one on the right. Parking is very limited in the area. The store is usually crowded so its hard to get a nice view for pictures. In front of the store is a nice river with lots of birds and ducks so if you have kids please do bring bird food for feeding :) This is near the parrot place.
J.
We've been here before though very long time ago. Consolation is that you can go in without paying, but it's primarily shop downstairs and there are interesting things to buy here and to look at. To see the museum, which is upstairs you can book and pay. It was quite busy.
B.
Awesome store. Rich in history. Good scenic views. Has guided tours.

J.
Didn't know this stone house is an American style shop and has been operating since 1836. The park next to it is very beautiful too. Will be a good idea to spend more time there.
P.
The Stone Store at Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands is New Zealand’s oldest surviving stone building. It's shop sells a lot of "current" items, but also a lot of "nostalgic" items. But the best about this place is the museum on the 1st and 2nd floor. Beautifully done and giving tons of information about the history of the location and on the history of New Zealand.
The surroundings and gardens are beautiful and you can also take a nice walk along the river. Many beautiful birds to see! The Honey House Cafe next door is great. So all in all a highly recommended area!
B.
Still a nice place to visit. Was there first in 1980 bit different now and no more through traffic which is very peaceful
m.
Received an excellent guided tour by Heather. A very interesting part of New Zealand history and totally worth visiting!
B.
The Stone Store Area and Town Centre Review.
The Stone Store basin is a pretty area for visitors. Free parking over the river at the domain. Toilets in carpark and some delightful 'wild' chooks.
Over the bridge is the stone house which is a cafe, colonial museum and tourist gift shop all in one. Entrance $10 pp for the museum. Didn't go in so can't review.
There is also the pear tree cafe further away which is also nice.
The rainbow falls are worth a look and if you don't fancy the walk from the carpark then you can drive nearer and take a 5 minutes walk to the look outs.
KeriKeri itself is good for a nosey around. Lots of independent shops and a few cafés.
You must visit mokana chocolate factory while in town. Pricey but exquisite chocolate and a range of scoop gelati that will blow your jandals off!
M.
Nice and cool inside on a hot summers day.
Excellent selection of gifts and supplies.
H.
The shop sells cool and antique things. We enjoyed very much walking around here. There are friendly ducks and chickens and many flower were blooming. Some people enjoy spending time by the water. The parking lot was full probably because of holiday season.
G.
One of my favorite places to go and enjoy takeaways with friends and family. Definitely a pretty spot for quality kōreros and proximity to walking tracks etc makes this historic site well worth the visit.
D.
Love the building and the scenery by the riverside!! If you ever come to Kerikeri you'd be silly not to visit this historical place.
I will definitely come back again!! It's truly AMAZING!!
Thanks for making my day :-)
V.
A must-see when you visit Kerikeri as it is New Zealand’s oldest stone building. This old trade shop is open til this present day as a gift shop. Most of their items are pricey yet really good to get some souvenirs. Folklore says it’s haunted, but I never felt the creeps when i visited the Stone Store.
A.
Great Store, lots of cool stuff.
Paid $8 to see lots of history and info upstairs.
Definitely worth a visit!
C.
The knowledge of the staff member was very informative, the museum was definitely worth a look👍
N.
Iconic heritage. I grew up in Kerikeri & this place brings back fond memories. Jumping off the wharf, racing our school made rafts down the river and being stung by bees when cutting behind through the gardens as a short cut on the way home from school. Its now filled with memorabilia from the yesteryears, growing up kiwi. Worth a look whether you're from 100kms or 10000kms away.
H.
It is amazingly relaxed to walk around inside of the historic stone building, viewing the items connected history or picking up a few things as the trip gifts.
J.
Loved this beautiful spot by the river. So nice and great signs showing all the history. Cool store as well. Loved it
S.
Great for a picnic where friendly ducks & geese serenade you happily, while basking in the sun on a grassy lawn overlooking a peaceful Kerikeri river.
H.
Iconic, historic attraction that is curated to a high standard.
M.
The first floor is retail shop.
Nothing much to see there except spending sometimes at the
coffee shop, watching all kinds of animal playing with one another ( sea gulls, birds, duck,...)
C.
Simple and historical.. not changed since our visit in1969. So good to come back.
P.
History over the shore. Has a nice cafe nearby. Also some good walking tracks around.
N.
Great spot... should be signs up not to feed the birds... saw girl attacked by hungry ducks
j.
It a pretty cool place, the history behind of all area is awesome, with a little of imagination is like you are there.
r.
Beautiful old stone building next to still lake.
d.
Very pleasant place, nice to stop on your travels, wander round, have a coffee and move on.
B.
Fantastic example of early life in New Zealand. Beautiful area to walk around.
W.
Friendly and helpful staff, also beautiful place for a swim with the dog at high tide just make sure it doesn’t chase the bird life.
H.
Super cute. Well looked after. Loved the gardens. And the shop had some really great stuff.
K.
Very interesting place to visit
A.
Very interesting piece of history. Lots of fun memories from times on the past.
j.
Interesting bit of history originally built at the cost of £600.
J.
Love the products they sell and amazing historical place . Highly recommend
R.
Place worth seeing if you have time and interested in exploring history.
M.
At the stone store there is lots of stuff to do and buy. I bought some ice blocks but you can also buy a bunch of kiwi related items in the gift shop. There is a lot of history surrounding the stone store as it is the first stone building made in New Zealand. Staff were friendly and nice and the ice blocks we're very nice on a hot day
S.
Historical items great souvenirs friendly staff nz ice cream and games
K.
My beautiful friend had travelled many miles to visit. So we chose the touristy route. Fortunately we happened upon The Stone Store in Kerikeri, a most beautiful building with all the things of yesteryear to enjoy and purchase. The most fantastic Wahine Toa served us and we enjoyed our visit immensely. It is a walk into real life in the 1800's. Of course we came away with Frank the Whale and various other goodies. Beautiful setting walking through the park up to one of the original buildings in Aotearoa. Love it!
N.
Beautiful spot, great cafe nearby and lovely walks.
G.
Great place beautiful harbor. Gave them a picture of old stone store and church you might see it some where up there it's a oil painting.
S.
Well presented piece of history in a very scenic area.
N.
Such a pleasant place to chillax and just take in a bit of NZ's history.
A.
Beautiful place to visit!!! Relaxing, good food and love the shop!!
V.
Beautiful old architecture. Must see place in Pahia. Free attraction. If you like you can buy souvenirs from the shop.
M.
As a historic building, this is a must see particularly to see its timber floor and roof construction. The ground floor contains a store featuring goods typical of the pioneering age but still of use today. The museum on the second floor seems to still be in progress so was a let down for the $8 entry fee. However, the exhibits were interesting in putting the area in historical context.
J.
This is at the base of the walking tracks I have previously talked about. Some tourist items for sale. A museum upstairs which costs $8.00 to gain entry. An eatery nearby. A good place to go on a warm sunny day. Lots of bird life around and plenty of nice green area for children to play etc. There are some shelters set up for picnics etc.
M.
Worth visiting. Great piece of Far North History.
H.
Not to be missed slice of New Zealand history, much more accessible now the main road no longer goes past the front door.
M.
Just another shop ,worth going to if you are in the area but not worth travelling for.
B.
Amazing historical place, lovely walk near the river. Perfect spot to relax
R.
Cute little cottage, one of the oldest buildings in New Zealand.
Z.
Great place to visit very historical - would be great to see some locally sourced gifts in the gift shop
B.
When you go into the building, it is like going back in time. You can get items from yester year and items relatively new.
It is such a good experience seeing vintage tins for sale back dating 60, 70 years and even much older items.
I purchased different types of sweets - humbugs, liquorice balls etc.
If you like antique items, this is the place to visit.
Support our local businesses.
A.
Beautiful building and with a small shop selling a lots of products from a bigone era.
K.
This place has a great vibe, it could tell some stories if it were able. Especially at night
C.
Always great to step back in time to truly appreciate how far we have come and realise historical buildings last longer than modern...
K.
Beautiful one of the oldest stone buildings in NZ. Muesium upstairs fabulous. The stream ducks swan and roosters, make the place lovely.
ර.
A must go place who goes up-north of New Zealand north island
M.
Did not have time to venture upstairs but will go back soon to investigate. Amazing building
M.
Absolutely gorgeous place. Pretty flower & fruit garden, small stream with ducks and geese
A.
The exterior was just as it looks in other photos, unfortunately the store was not open after Covid19 when we were there. May be next time we will get to go through.
W.
Great history in the whole area, we'll worth the visit.
A.
Worth going to definitely recommend.
P.
Great friendly and helpful staff. Interesting stuff!
R.
This is the first time I have been here as an adult and what an idyllic little spot. It felt like going back in time. The stone store was just beautiful and full of awesome knick knacks and tid bits. It was fun shopping there and a perfect place to find special and thoughtful gifts. Would love to go again and do some shopping without my toddler! 😆
P.
Lovely gardens to walk around and experience a taste of olden times NZ.
R.
So much to explore here. If your willing to walk the tracks the views are amazing. Some tracks lead you to old Pa sites... there's a story here and if your able too, then I suggest you take the time to visit this spot and enjoy the beauties it has on offer..
D.
Been here a long time. Street directions send you off to the wrong side of the river.
S.
Some great old-fashioned gifts. The old museum feels longer there. :-(
T.
The Stone Store is a icon of Northland and is simply amazing. If you are traveling to New Zealand or live in New Zealand you have to visit this unique store. The staff are helpful and very nice.
J.
Loads of history. Edge cost to view the top stories was worth it.
J.
Lovely place to visit, the shop inside has so many interesting souvenirs and the people there are really helpful. The surroundings are peaceful. Sit quietly by the water or grab a coffee at the nearby cafes. Take a tour of the stone store or Kemp house and learn about the early European settlers in New Zealand.
D.
Lovely old building, lots of heritage and history in those old walls
J.
An historic building a part of the world heritage buildings with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They provided advice about membership offers when travelling internationally & visiting other world heritage sites and buildings.
H.
Awesome old building, be sure to go inside nd check out the store as well. If you want to learn the history of New Zealand be sure to view the museum up stairs aswell

Such a wonderful piece of history. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Great little gifts to take home at a pretty reasonable price.
I.
A lovely old building in a large park. There are two eating places nearby. From the park is a delightful, gentle walk along the river bank on a well defined gravel track that leads to the Rainbow Springs 4.5km away.
M.
Sat in the car , while my sister was a shopping, she's sees it as a pilgrimage 😏
M.
Excellent building. Great products for sale, good friendly staff. Must look through the museum next trip, have to make more time.
C.
Lovely lady in the store was great to talk to.

Beautiful place, peaceful and nice.
R.
Wonderful historic village. Beautiful walking tracks. Has little areas for a bbq, can swim, fish and has a cafe by the stone house. Beautiful views, ducks and chickens to welcome you for memorable visit. Can bring dogs but not on walking tracks. Worth a visit when up north🙂👍
B.
Beautiful piece of history
T.
The museum was worth seeing. It did show notebooks along the exhibits which were insightful to read. There was also an interactive map which gave an in depth narration of the first settlers.
C.
The Stone Store is a small but nice historical place. I like being here. And I can recommend the cappuccino at the cafe right-handed site.
You can buy a lot of stuff in the store. For example soap and useful house stuff.
S.
Lovely place to visit very informative and interesting history. Everyone is very helpful. If you are in or near Kerikeri please make sure you stop and check it out.
K.
Interesting, but goods somewhat overpriced.
F.
Stunning place with lots of picnic spots by the river..lots of fruit trees, flowers, ducks..lots of unique and interesting things to see and buy from the Stone store..worth a visit..heaps of car park...one wishing well..really good in summer days...
S.
A historical building and a great setting.
d.
This is a great place to visit if you want to find our some New Zealand history. The store is set out as it would have been 200 years ago. The area around the Stone store is also very stunning with walks and a very nice pub come restaurant, and the Stone store has a very nice cafe.
A.
One of the oldest buildings in the country and a main attraction for Kerikeri. They do charge $8 for entry into the museum
A.
Very nice grounds and a good walk. Do pay for the museum up stairs... otherwise it is just a bit of a tourist trap.
A.
We loved decorating a Matiriki star 🌟 and were happy to take a pumpkin seed in a biodegradable pottle home 🙂
A.
A very lovely store, with lots of beautifully made crafts. The building is made of stone, and built by the missionary to replace the original wooden building; and initially used as a warehouse. It's a heritage building. They have guided tour that you have to pay if you want to join, though you can still freely roam around the ground, and enjoy the lovely view.
S.
Oldest stone building in NZ, (not that old by works standards) but cool for us
P.
Haven't been here for years great place to visit so much history, awesome place for the whole family to enjoy
M.
Great place to visit, and great walk ways, we stayed for a few hours, and had dinner here.
Would do it again real soon.
D.
Best place to get away, timeout. Beautiful swans ❤️ Plenty of swimming spots too, have something hot or cold too eat at the cafe, delicious!
G.
Great experience being able to still shop in the oldest store in New Zealand. Wonderful photo opportunities too.
I.
A reallyal interesting historic place. Set up like a store. Plenty of practical little souvenirs and gifts for you or for others. Beautiful bush walks and waterfalls nearby.
W.
A lovely shop plus museum. They sell more modern but also nostalgic items. A great place to visit to buy small presents/souvenirs. As I'm Dutch to me this building is quite 'young', but it's part of the national history.
J.
Love this place, really stepping back in history. Awesome staff and couldn't resist had to buy some goodies 😊
B.
Very interesting place and a good dose of nostalgia. I saw things there that I hadn't seen since I was a child.
a.
A great Historic Site.
M.
I grew up around the historical township I am impressed by the connections with other history's Samuel Marsden first settlement to the Bay of Islands.
T.
Very nice historic building, lovingly stocked with an array of nostalgic items, arranged among historic household goods. Highly friendly staff. Tours regularly take place, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time to wait for the next one. Worth a visit.
b.
Lovely historic site
C.
Great history and still operating even as tourist as a small boy 50years ago I remember that the road used to go past the front of the stone house along time since I've been here.
G.
Typical gift shop but has a small interesting basic museum upstairs, that requires payment.
J.
Well maintained and on lovely grounds. It's the oldest building still in daily use in New Zealand. Pretty sure my primary school in England was about a 100 years older but hey NZ is a pretty young place.
E.
So great to have this place so well looked after
A tourists must see.
B.
We arrived late and shops were all closed.
Great gardens, peacefull and quiet.
Loved their different fruit trees.
Please take a bag for your rubbish , couldn't find any rubbish bins there. :)
M.
Cool place, full of lots of gift ideas and souvenirs, very enjoyable visit.
A.
Arrived after hours so only walked around. Well kept grounds with an interesting old garden. One for the history buffs. Worth a visit. Would have rated higher had I been there earlier I am sure.
조.
Nice place, but need to purchase tickets to view all of the historic places.
D.
Bearing in mind that was the first permanent building by settlers, it is most impressive. The gift store had lots of lovely wooden items. The store is part of a complex which includes the original missionaries house and the site of the Maori village. Great views from the site of the village. An unmissable experience for anyone interested in NZ history.
M.
Amazing building. A must see. Unfortunately I didn't get the time to go upstairs. Lots of interesting items as souvenirs.
A.
Wonderful part of New Zealand history, and still trading as an active store. Talk a walk around, but be careful not to trip on the uneven floor.
They do run Tours of the store and the associated Kemp House, but you are welcome to wander the grounds on your own.
There are a couple of short walks nearby which you can explore, one of which visits an historic Pa.
If the weather and tide is right then the water is good for swimming in as well.
Drop a coin in the wishing well down on the waterfront and see what happens.
O.
Historical and well preserved
J.
Interesting place to look around and information on walks.
R.
Such a lovely building steeped in history with a cute collection of "olden day" style things to purchase which brought back many memories

Beautiful setting. Lovely grounds and awesome place for a picnic. Nice walks from there. Cool little unique olden day shop
E.
Very interresting historical place.
J.
Great place to visit when in Kerikeri, Ethan C should take note that old ladies work in and around this area to make you feel welcome and it's vape and smoke free
R.
Love this old building, it's so well cared for and has lots of nice things to buy.
J.
It is stone, no longer a store
W.
Oldest stone building in NZ ! Definitly worth the visit of the shop and all the area which they try to preserve from the passege of time, as a witness of the firsts settlements and missions. The Stone Store is a gift shop where you will find from forged nails to old tinned-jam labels or books.
V.
I loved this store. It had great stuff in it you would not find anywhere else. Nice staff too.
H.
Great place to visit very interesting and lots of history 😀
G.
History at its best! Love the souvenirs here and the museum upstairs is informative. Lovely ladies dressed to match the era. Well done :)
J.
This place has a nice serenity and vibe about it, surrounded by great views. The store sells rustic vintage sorts and has some good finds depending on your taste.
C.
We visited the Stone Store recently when we were in Kerikeri. It is a lovely spot and tells a very important story of NZ early history. It felt a little bit out of order but hey.. well worth the visit
P.
Interesting to look around inside.
Y.
Very unique building with many interesting souvenirs
R.
Lovely setting and great cafe
L.
It's ok. Good walking tracks around this area with a 1 hour walk to rainbow falls.
R.
A great and wonderful place that brings the past back to our day and gives a lot of nostalgia with it. My Great , great Grand Father also had a part to play in it's construction. This gives it a family connection .
F.
Local highlight for us in Kerikeri. The historic stone store, the beautifully manicured gardens, the friendly ducks and roosters that will even hand feed and the gorgeous honey House Cafe make this a great afternoons outing for locals and tourists alike.
D.
Very good mix of historical information and artisan goods. Do take the tour as it's really worth while
T.
Beautiful old store. Love the bricks its made of
P.
Fascinating piece of New Zealand history
T.
Love that the store has been operating for so long and still sells some of the original type of items such as hand made nails. Other more modern items have clearly been carefully chosen too.
B.
Not very wheelchair accessible but a pretty cool and historic spot
A.
The store had an amazing range of practical items for the house and garden.
G.
Nice and peaceful place. A stone house by the river among trees and flowers. There is a bar in front of the river and a charming café As well.

N.
Absolutely beautiful and amazing stuff in there.

I am at Te Ahurea that is my special place.
b.
Thoroughly enjoyed booked tour for Gisborne Girls and Boys High Schools to visit the Stone store and Kemp house. Students studying NZ history - first hand experiences go a long way to reinforce their knowledge and gain appreciation for our ancestors struggles. Some very clever exhibits to keep teens entertained. Knowledgeable guides giving history of house and store greatly appreciated. Thanks.
M.
Amazing place & reading about the history is really cool. Would come back again
L.

Visited with my Wife Karla on March 2016.
The Stone Store. Truly a magnificent, historic beacon. The church, the fruit garden, the original house, the Old Tree across the bridge. The natural harbor and port. I do not understand why, the person that gave this place 1 star rating, did not step a foot out of the vehicle and explore on its own...acess is permited on the grouds...one just have to walk out of ones' bussy life to enjoy it...that is my advice. To Ms. King. Happy travels.
