What a credit to the volunteers that have created this interesting museum. Beautifully displayed, clean and informative. 3 stories to this facinating collection of history so I would recommend you allow an hour or more for your visit.

My expectations weren't too high after looking at the downstairs (it was an eclectic mix of random looking items), but upstairs and the mezzanine were fascinating. Overall, the museum was clean and well organised.

Never knew Opotiki had a museum or how good it was! First floor is all manner of everyday implements and stuff from the surrounding area collected and displayed in little groups e.g. Collection of stuff from the old Opotiki hospital, farming implements & stationary engines, etc. Second floor is less exciting with old photos from the past & geological stuff. The third floor is a real treasure with a big selection of Maori artifacts & mock-ups of various homes during Opotiki's history.

What an amazing awesome place to visit, we were given a tour around the old store next door to the museum to begin with. Incredible history attached to this store. The museum is wonderful, will definitely go back as so much more to view. Highly recommend

Huge place and very, very well maintained. Very welcoming atmosphere and I’d allow an hour to go round at least. We stopped for a quick coffee break on the way round the cape, but stayed longer to enjoy the area and the museum

An eclectic mix of history and art. It gives you a really great sense of history from the area. Be sure to chat to Dot in the office and ask her if she'll be playing the piano today! Such a treat.

Quite a lot of Opotiki historic information can be found in this museum very good displays a lot of old machines and tractors a terrific place to look through you need to take your time to really see what is there .enjoyable.
