We had a great time at the farm! My little girl just loved feeding all the animals. She didn't want to come home! The homestead is lovely, a real piece of history that's also comfortable. It's so close to all the Kaueranga Valley walks - there's different types of walks to suit young families up to experienced trampers. Highly recommended.

Our family of four loved our stay at Devcich Historic Farmstead. Lorenza was thoughtful and accommodating from the start, and was very flexible and helpful when we were uncertain of our arrival time. Our two kids (ages 6.5 and 3.5) loved the farm, and Lorenza let them help feed the lambs and chickens, which they adored. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. We stayed at the Farmstead for 4 nights and were disappointed we had to leave so soon!
The location is in good proximity to Thames and hiking and swimming within the Kauaeranga Valley, including swimming and hiking both directly from the Farmstead. It wasn't far, also, from Coromandel and Hot Water Beach, and we appreciated being so close to Auckland when we were due to leave NZ. Lorenza is a wealth of knowledge for both the Farmstead and the area, and she gave us many helpful suggestions for activities in both. We highly recommend and hope to return!

A very picturesque rural setting featuring a spacious farmhouse plus an extra cottage. Beautifully presented and comfortable dwelling. Lots of exotic animals and birds. Great picnic spots beside the river. Lots of nature walks close by. Lorenza is a fantastic host and is very informative about the history of the farm, many historic buildings and surrounding areas. Would definitely come again.

Wow, wow, wow... Lorenza made the experience super easy from booking to checking in. The homestead is absolutely gorgeous and has so much character and personal touches. The farm itself is so family friendly with all the animals including peacocks, Llamas, highland cows, sheep and so many more. Lorenza showed us around the property including the sheds.... talk about history.
We took a short walk down to a beautiful swimming spot. Amazing views and such a pleasure to beable to stay at such a treasured property. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much Lorenza, we all loved it.

Lorenza and her property provided a very comfortable nurturing experience. The house is well equiped, clean and well maintained. It was a pleasure to interact with all of her sweet animals and birds, even including "lovey", the quirky and somewhat territorial pheasant!
The fridge and cupboards were stocked with handy things like milk, coffee, tea, salt & pepper & home baked cookies. The property is conveniently located and has nice easy walks to swimming holes in the river.

This was a family trip to the Coramandel Peninsula and northern New Zealand. We were looking for a location in the country and this one was the most beautiful, interesting, and unique experience we could have asked for. This historic farm and home are amazing. The house is original to the property, but updated nicely in a very comfortable way and suited our group of nine. The nearby river was convenient for exploring and fishing. The location was close to Thames and was convenient for day trips to other adventures in the northern region. The property owner was wonderful and very responsive throughout out stay if needed. Best trip ever!

We had a wonderful stay at the farm. Lorenza was so welcoming and made us feel so comfortable. We love the history there. It is such a lovely place to stay. One of my favorite things was to sit outside early morning with my coffee, see the mist on the mountains and watch the animals. Great exercise exploring. It is one of the highlights of visiting New Zealand!

Authentic farm house which has been beautifully restored, 3 comfy bedrooms, all with tastefull decor in keeping with the house.
There is also a bunkroom building for added guests which is handy to the main house.
The farm has a lovely river on its boundary which affords good swimming spots and able to be fished.
There are numerous animals on the property some of which are quite exotic. Lots of fancy chickens roam nearby.
This is a super farm stay for families especially with children.
Close by there are numerous Doc walks and well maintained tracks through the bush.
The Doc Visitor centre is a few kilometers up the road.

I'm pleased to say I have visited Lorenza's farm and cottage. She has done an amazing job and you will be so excited with everything there. All the different animals will have you and your family delighted. Museum pieces everywhere and picnics by the river, divine. Try it, you'll love it.

Further to an earlier note I had posted, I went back to the Kauranga Valley again this year with Lorenza Devcich, to again look at the work she had continued to do on her family property. Its amazing wait she has been able to do with these building which hold so much history. My background is forestry and saw milling and to walk through the old family saw mill still with old documents attached to posts, tools in buckets etc etc, such a special place. The fact that the mill is quiet derelict adds more wonder to the hard work these people did to achieve their days work. The store set up I guess by Lorenza's grand parents to provide equipment and food to the gum diggers as they arrived in the Kauranga valley with the dream of going out into the forests to recover Kauri "GUM", and then bring it back to the store and pay off their debt is fascinating, with lots of the tools and products still in the store. Wow, and then you go into the shed where the Devcich family made fortified wine. I grew up in Thames and well remember my dad buying the wine in "Flagon Bottles".
And of course on top of all this is the splendid, quaint, historic cottage restored to offer all the present day comforts, plus another accommodation unit. Put all this together with the spacial quiet Kauranga valley with the river only meters away to swim and or fish in. "AND YES THERE IS MORE" - let your children enjoy feeding the farm yard animals. What more could you want. Well I guess that would be access to the Kauranga Valley Forest park, full of walking tracks, information center, and tranquility. Just nice.

This was one of the best farm stays ever. The host was awesome and we had a lovely getaway. Spectacular views and it felt like a home away from home. Farm animals and historical sites to watch. Loved the whole experience.

A great mix of natural scenic beauty and historical heritage. Original farm buildings from early 1900s including sawmill, winery and kauri gum store. Should not be missed ...

This beautiful place is not far from Thames my husband and I have been twice and there are no complaints. The owner was friendly and went out of her way to make us welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from it all. "nuff said just go.
