Really impressed by the work done to restore and maintain the Blockhouse, an important part of Upper Hutt history. Well done to the Upper Hutt Roundtable for keeping it going. Well worth a visit.

The only surviving wooden blockhouse in NZ, this was built and occupied from 1860 to 1861, but was never involved in hostilities. From 1867-1880 it was used as a Police Station. It was created an historic reserve in 1916. Outside viewing is available at all times.

Great historic and historical site. Spent a fair bit of times smashing cricket balls into it during my school days. 😃

This is where the Upper Hutt Town centre used to be located. A pity that this building hasn't been made into a tourist attraction as it is historically significant

Good place for training outside of school hours and has a public gym after hours. The school is quite good as well.
